Episode 1 / Re: R2-B1 & TC-14
« on: July 24, 2005, 10:21 PM »
I have to admit, I got "lucky" on these. I was at TRU when they were unloading cases and grabbed three of each. I thought a friend would want a set, he turned them down and I never got back to returning them. The other two were for me, one to open, one to card. Eventually I opened two sets, and left 1 carded. I now have 2 R2B1 loose, 2 TC-14's loose, and 2 Padme Ascensions and 2 Sio Bibble's (all loose). I traded my carded ones about 2 years ago for a bunch of stuff I needed.   My son has one of the loose sets on his shelves for his special collecting figures. He played with them when younger, and still will, but his are still on his shelf for the most part.

After that, I never saw these again. They were very rare in my book and very hard to find.

Power of the Jedi / Re: POTJ Aurra Sing-AHHHHHHHHHHH!
« on: July 24, 2005, 10:12 PM »
DS, fyi, though your help is noble, the post was back in 2002 to early 2003. Sure he has found one by now and is not checking this thread. You could message him to make sure.

Power of the Jedi / Re: Rare? Medium Rare? Medium?
« on: July 24, 2005, 10:10 PM »
I hope this helps, and not trying to promote buying in any one area or nothing, but at the current price I thought this bid was pretty reasonable for the POTJ line (or what is being offered) but I could be  wrong.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5988394742&category=50269&rd=1

Bid is currently $79.95 for  57 figures but not MOTDS or other ones like that. As mention before, I found it doing a search at ebay for Power of the Jedi Figures.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Figure Sales (or price hikes)!
« on: July 24, 2005, 10:06 PM »
Sold out, can't find . . . . man, come to the 2 Walmarts where I opened cases and threw the figures on the pegs.  There were plenty of Grevious and Vader. Man, what somepeople do who make a buck. Tempted to watch that one, and if someone bids, send an email to them and tell them I can get one of each for half of what he bid . . . . joking . . . . no but at least at cost plus shipping.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Why there are no more pictures of Bly
« on: July 24, 2005, 10:02 PM »
I am hoping that this fall at least Hasbro has pictures on the new Bly. Anyway, this is another figure I will have to get (sigh) and hunt down. DeanPaul, you should post that over on our Utah boards under "the Scalper" and watch the reaction!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Captain Antilles... He Sorta Sucks
« on: July 24, 2005, 09:51 PM »
I was already considering passing on this figure, and now I think I will.  Here is some info I pulled off of Wikipedia. I also have the Visual Dictionary and will look there when I go upstairs.

Antilles, Raymus
Star Wars character

Rohan Nichol as Captain Raymus Antilles
Captain Antilles
Homeworld Alderaan
Species Human
Gender Male
Height {{{height}}}
Weapon {{{weapon}}}
Vehicle Tantive IV
Affiliation Rebel Alliance
Film portrayer Rohan Nichol (Episode III)
Captain Raymus Antilles was the commander of the Tantive IV from at least the time of the Great Jedi Purge until it was captured by the Empire shortly after the Rebel Alliance intercepted plans for the original Death Star. Initially, Captain Antillies was Senator Bail Organa's chief of Security during the collapse of the Old Republic. He was the master of the droids C-3PO and R2-D2 when Bail Organa granted him ownership of them until they became the property of Luke Skywalker. Antilles died at the hands of Darth Vader after he failed to give information on the location of the Death Star plans. According to the X-Wing series of novels, he was not related to Wedge Antilles, however as of the end of Revenge of the Sith that he is related to (or possibly the same person as) Bail Antilles.

He appeared in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and its radio adaptation. His name in the novelization of A New Hope was simply Captain Colton. He also appears in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, along with Captain Colton, as a separate character entirely.

Take it for what is worth.

The link if you want it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Dodonna

In the Visual Dictionary, page 54, the upper left caption says that Raymus Antilles is related to Alderan's Queen.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Elite Clone Troopers?

Glad to hear it. I would have passed on these clones because I just don't like how they look.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Obi-Wan's Blue Jedi Starfighter
« on: July 24, 2005, 09:32 PM »
Great find! I think I am going to stick with just the two I have, Anakin's (yes, my son wanted it so I was a sucker and got for the extra $5) and the red Obi Wan. I think the Obi Wan Pilot out is a much better figure from the pictures I've seen. Does the Obi Wan that comes with this fighter have articulation in the knees?

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Commander Cody
« on: July 24, 2005, 08:38 PM »
Released today was "Commander Cody will be a revision of the #41 Clone, but painted and with a few extra's to make him look like Cody."

Okay, just a joke, but that is what I think they will do with Cody. I really am looking forward to hunting for him!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: TRU Exclusive Holographic Emperor
« on: July 24, 2005, 08:35 PM »
I have a holographic Sidious from Ep. I that I really love. My only compliant is it is alittle tall but I still think it is the primo for capturing the image of Sidious. I have to agree with what others have said about too many holo's with repaints this year. I'll be passing on all the holo's.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Recent Purchases
« on: July 23, 2005, 01:48 PM »
The Black Clone Pilot has been found, and was there, I just didnt want him so I didn't mention him or look for him. Another collector who came about an hour after I did and finished opening and putting up cases found 2 of him. He is not in every case though and I think he will be the hardest figure to find of all of the new ones.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Recent Purchases
« on: July 23, 2005, 01:36 AM »
Most successful and satifying hunt I've had in a LONG time! First, here is the case I found tonight after scoring my own Green Commander, Shock Trooper, AT-RT (and my son scored an Obi Wan Pilot that he wanted for him because he doesn't want to "borrow" mine, he wanted his own!).

Case 87153A009
1 Green clone commander
1 Shock Trooper
1 AT-RT Driver
1 Obi Wan Pilot
2 Grevious (4 swords)
2 Darth Vader
1 SA Clone #42
1 Yoda
1 Emperor
1 Bacara

I took the Green Clone Commander, the Shock Trooper, the AT-RT Driver, and my son was with me and he bought the Obi Wan Pilot.

Then we went to another Wally and found 2 different cases. The first is the one above. The second I could not find the case number but here is the breakdown sort of:
2 Shock Trooper Clones
1 AT-RT
1 Green Clone Commander
1 R2D2
2 Anakin on Mustafar or Crispy Anakin
1 Yoda
1 Emperor

3 other figures that I believe are 2 Vaders and 1 Grevious but I could not be sure. Reason is there was a Dad there with his two sons and I told them about the new stuff. The oldest son collects the Galatic Heros, but then we opened up cases (there were 5 of the 85173A009 and 3 of the second one I listed) and each son took 1 of the Green Clone Commander, the AT-RT Driver, the Shock Trooper and the Obi Wan Pilot. Then one took an Anakin on Mustafar. The coolest thing was I had my 11 year old son with me and as we were walking out to the car, my son said "Dad, that is a great feeling to help others get excited about our hobby!" Let me tell you, I was extremely proud of my son.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Recent Purchases
« on: July 22, 2005, 03:29 PM »
At the downtown SLC Walmart on 1300 South and at the Lindon Wamart (near to Provo) the following figures were found and purchased:
Obi Wan Kenobi Pilot
Black Clone Pilot
Green Clone Commander
Red Shock Clone Trooper
AT-RT Driver
Mustfar Sentry

I was not there, I was late so all I got was Obi Wan Pilot which is the SA Obi Wan we want, and the cloak comes off, AND he fits in the starfighter, and his knees with his feet, waist, shoulders, elbows, hand and head all move anyway  but this is the case figure I have come up with that hit based on SSG.

The #6 clone is the shock trooper clone.
The single Commander is the Green Commander.
Rest fit. Only thing I cannot figure out is that there were 2 Black Clone pilots per case but I do not know what they replaced. Hopefully I find out tonight at a local Wally.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: The Prequels that could have been
« on: July 21, 2005, 09:11 PM »
I compare Lucas to Peter Jackson with LOTR. I know that Lucas had to have the vision of his story, to where Jackson had as a basis an excellent literary work to go off of. However, I think the styles of PJ vs GL show the difference in their works. PJ, though having control, picked his people, got them in place, and trusted them to do their jobs. He also listened to his actors and as a result came up with improved camera angles etc. Lucas, for whatever reason, seems to be a control freak from what I've read and controls everything down to the wire. The result is the difference in the two films/trilogies. LOTR is far above the prequels IMO as a result of the directors'/producer's style. I have enjoyed the prequels for what they are, entertainment and background to a story I love. I do wish the GL could have turned over the writting  and directing to someone else. I think we would have had a much better product overall. I do agree that Spielberg would have done an excellent job on the prequels (as long as he stayed away from movies/themes like AI).

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Carded Wedge, finally!
« on: July 21, 2005, 08:59 PM »
Man, I was happy with the Wedge I have from the Rebel Pilots cinema scene. Now I'll have to think about it.  Looks like they took the POTJ Luke (buckteeth) and put the Wedge head on him with the Dutch helmet modified. I'll have to pull one of my Luke's out from POTJ to confirm, but just off the top of my head that is what it looks like they did. Still, I am going to think about this . . .
