Title: Target "AT-RT Assault Squad" Battle Pack
Post by: Dressel Rebel on July 1, 2007, 12:57 PM
Thanks to 4 inches:

pic (http://www.4-inches.de/inhalt/home.htm)

I don't mind getting more AT-RT's, but the camouflage Bacara is a boneheaded choice.  I'd still buy the pack with the wasted figure though, still a good deal.

I am not really feeling it. As it stands, it is a pass for me.

Why would you need cold weather armor on Kashyyyk?

Cool! The Bacara is pretty lame but I missed out on the AT-RTs back in 05, so I'll need a couple of this set(depending on the price).  ;D

Why would you need cold weather armor on Kashyyyk?

True, but you dont need it on Coroscaunt either and that was still a cool figure in that other BP.

I hope Hasbro is smart with this one and changes the body to the Baraca clone with one that has articulation over the quick-draw crap. It looks like they are including the carded version of the AT-RT driver over the non-articulate ones, so there is hope.

I might get one for the AT-RT drivers at least if they don't swap out Baraca's body.

Hopefully a clear photo will show up somewhere soon, as I can't tell enough from the photo to know if it's worth picking up or not.  The Camo Bacara will definitely be gotten rid of, but one can always use more AT-RTs and/or their drivers.

This is supposed to be part of the 20 dollar price point, correct?  If so, I'd suspect Hasbro will ditch the walking action features on the AT-RTs.  Even if they do wind up doing that, 20 bucks for two walkers, two drivers, and a fifth figure isn't bad at all.  Hell, 30 dollars for all that isn't bad at all.

$30 for 2 AT-RT's is about the going rate, I just hope the drivers aren't the shite pack-in figure...  Can't tell well by that photo.

Bacara repaint?  Meh...

I'm good for one opener set. Not a bad price at all either.

Who says they only used AT-RT's on Kashyyyk?

I've seen mostly negative responses on this in various forums, so here's to hoping that after my first two sets, I find a few more super cheap on clearance.

Really though, I think this set is cool.  I don't like a Bacara being included unless they give his body the regular SA treatment.  As for his helmet, I love it so I'm glad we're getting another one.

The drives look like the basic AT-RT driver from the ROTS line, at least sculpt wise.

What I'm really hoping they do is give the walkers a nice paint scheme, on par with the repacks of the Hailfire and AAT.

I never got an AT-RT so I MIGHT buy it.  But more than likely I'll pass on it for something else.

If you were in the extreme Norther or Souther regions?

Is the Bacara helmet specifically intended for only cold weather?

This is a cool Battle pack. I am assuming they removed the battery boxes/electronics and will be normal vehicles. Any one got confirmation on that? I love how we paid $15 for 1 with a static figure not to long ago.....
I will buy one of these sets.

This set is $30 so you're really just getting Bacara for free.

Post by: jedi_master_sal on July 17, 2007, 11:09 AM
The more I think about it, I think I'm only going to get one set.

Knowing Hasbro's penchant for repaints, I'll holding out for the inevitable 501st, Utapau, Felucia, Shocktrooper colors.

I'd only need one set for each color, so no worries on my part. I'm not looking to army build these and if they never come out with the other color variants I mentioned, I'm not worried about it.

This is supposed to be part of the 20 dollar price point, correct?

Just to confirm what others have said, this is not scheduled to be part of the basic Battle Packs line.  The DPCI # shows it to be priced at $30 and it is planned to be a Target Exclusive item. From the Target DPCI thread:

087-06-0343 AT-RT Assault Squad $29.99

In other news, it looks like the AT-RT Driver sculpt being used is indeed the RotS basic figure sculpt.  Clicky the pic to check out the AT-RT Driver from the set:

Let the "horrible color scheme" bitching begin.   ;)

Holy Christ is that thing ugly. At this point Hasbro is just f'ing with us to see what we'll buy. The Vomit Trooper from the Order 66 set was one thing, but this is totally different.

Some nice developments here, $30 instead of $20 and a smooth puke green deco to boot.

I dunno...I traded/sold quite a few of those vomit tropper's from the o66 packs so this may yet be a winner to those few...

I see the new 3" Titanium AT-RT is apparantly repainted and features this paintjob on the driver...  Soooooooooo, does that mean the new 3" Titanium RT itself is the paintjob we can expect on the RT's in this battlepack?  If so they'll be radically different from the basic RT's in 2005.

Regardless I appreciate getting more of the vehicle...  It wasn't super common around Pitt and it's to-scale so I'm down for more.  I don't dig the paintjob, but I said the same thing on the O66 Clone and he grew on me, and this just looks like an RT version of it really, so I'll take them.  I have regulars I can slap on the RT's that'll look fine and the extras I get from these can just go on the Clone shelf to add some more color.

I'm curious now on Bacara's paintjob.  Could be funky but it'll make a neat leader for these RT drivers and the Clones from the O66 sets.  They're like their own whole different legion when you think about it.  Whether we like it or not I guess.

Yeah, that's a horrible paint scheme. The only good thing about it is that it takes away any army building potential.

LOL, HAhA

I was reading this whole thread today and all the positive 'this is a cool set, I think I'll pick it up' comments and funny how they turned to the dark side after seeing the hideous grasshopper/locust painted clone.

Definately a NO for me...what a disgusting buy for 30$.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

DS

EDIT: the commander Bacara is STILL a ****** figure no matter what way they repaint him. He certainly adds to the negative feelings for this 'set'.  (IMO)

At first I thought it was a positive development that they were going with the AT-RT Driver basic figure and not the lame, preposed figure that came with the AT-RT.  But this paintscheme stinks.

Agreed. There is no reason to change this driver's paint apps from what it was before.  Heck, I'm not certain if those are even movie accurate, but I KNOW the psychedlic vomit driver isn't.

I really wanted more AT-RTs. Now I'm torn on getting this set or not. $30 is reasonable, but dang that paint scheme sucks.

What are the AT-RTs supposed to look lke themselves? If they are like the drivers, then it's going to be an easy pass.

That's what I love about Target.  I can't think of a single exclusive they've had that didn't hit clearance.  If only WM and TRU could follow their lead.

Target's clearance is handed down by HQ, plus they don't have the warehouse/distribution that Wal-marts has. If they don't move something then they lose money with not being able to bring in something that does sell. They would take the little loss on over the big loss with the stuff sitting in there warehouses. That is why there clearance is the same in all stores, but Wal-Mart is more of a store decision on what is not moving and how many mark down points they have. That is why some stores have many items clearanced and other will have nothing. Some clearance comes down from HQ, but if the store doesn't have any mark down point they have to send the items to a store that has them. It is all based on sales for that store, plus they have the warehouses to sit on stuff longer. I don't know how TRU works.

I do agree though as it would be nice for other companies to have a better way of moving items to bring in the new.

I still haven't decided if I like this pack or if I hate it. I've been leaning towards more of an OT focus this year, so I think I may actually be passing on this one anyways. The fact that it isn't even movie accurate will hopefully make that even easier. WhHo knows though, I may get suckered in when Is ee this one on the shelves.

I have a little Diorama type display going on that these would actually fit into and add some variety to it... I was against it at first, but I am on the fence now.

I think it looks like a pretty cool set. With $7 + basic figures, 3 troops and 2 vehicles in one pack is a good deal. While I am trying to keep most things OT myself, I will definately get at least 1, more if they hit clearance.

I'm much more optimistic about this set now. Yes, the driveer we saw on the net last week is very different from the paint scheme we are seeing now. Thank goodness too.

I'll get one set and hope they go on clearance to get another set or two.

I actually like the Bacara figure. Though these do look like G.I.Joe figures.

I dunno, this set just doesn't cut it for me. I am really starting to hate the troopers that Hasbro makes up (Purple Clones, most of Order 66, Shadow Troopers) so this set is an easy pass. Had this been a set with two AT-RTs with a normal paint scheme, two white AT-RT drivers, and an white SA #41 trooper, I'd happily plan to get two of them.

You have to hand it to Hasbro...they sure do know how to squeeze every last drop out of their molds...and it works.

Post by: Jesse James on July 26, 2007, 06:18 PM
I'm sort of perplexed on why they wouldn't just re-release the RT with the regular SA pilot either...  Not like that thing sold poorly in '05, so they surely could've sold through for $30 for 2 of them + another figure.  Still I'll get this set, it's not bad if you can get past the made up paintjob.  I've only got 2 RT's now so I'll take this little group.  Plain movie paintjobs would've been cooler though, but I'm guessing this is something for the kids more than us perhaps.  I dunno.

I think I'll get this.  I didn't the get the RT the first time around, and I actually like the cammo on it.  And I like Bacarra (as a character anyways) and he looks halfway decent.

I just saw clear pics of this set at Galactic Hunter and for the first time in 3 years I am actually going to pass on this because I think this set really sucks and brings nothing to the collecting table. If it goes on clearance really cheap I may buy it. I am not going out of my way to seek this out or pay full price. The clones look goofy to me. like cheap China knock offs. I wish it was regular AT-RT's to army build and not this order 66 camo thing.

Anyone else agree this sucks?

Interesting...

I think I'll just wait for the eventual 30% off clearance before I grab this one though as $21 in -store sounds a lot more appealing to me for a box of repaints than $38 shipped from Target.com! :P

Exactly, me too.

I'll wait for it to clearance and then get it. If it sells out before then (yeah right), then I won't lose sleep never having purchased it. There's no way I'm paying $30 plus shipping online and no way I'm paying $30 at retail. $20 or less and I'll get ONE set and that's an opener.

NOW! Had these been movie accurate, WELL then that would have been a different story. At $30 AND movie accurate, I'd have bought three sets. Oh well. To bad for Hasbro. I think Target is going to eat it on this set.

By far the easiest pass this year! I almost passed on the Arc pack too but that droid sucked me in. I am trading off the rest. Had they put a camo R2 I might have bought one. Really painful was the Arc ship which I still have boxed, I feel it takes away from the CW Gunship's alure.

Take them back, these will be on clearance for sure.

I'm apparantly getting it for X-Mas, which is nice...  For $30 you get two RT's, so I'm not griping much.  The paintjobs are meh, but I'm ok with them...  I just wish these were the regular ROTS paintjobs but spiffier/more detailed.  I don't see the need for the new paintjob.  The old RT's sold through so fast nobody had a chance to get a lot of them I'm sure, so I just don't understand a "need" to repaint it to sell it, ya know?

The ARC fighter was disappearing fast at the Target I was at...  Only one beat up one left.  Everything else, easily available, including the figure pack which is arguably quite nice.

This is pictured for $24.99 in the ad this Sunday, so save you receipt and get the $5 back if you've already bought it.

Other "selected" SW toys are on sale, but they aren't pictured or listed. I can try and find out tonight if there's anything good.
