Title: Rogue One Toy Rumors
Post by: Nicklab on April 25, 2016, 12:01 PM
Saw this via the Yakface twitter feed.  I translated the text (thanks, Google!).  The YF post mentioned an AT-AT, but there's nothing in this Swiss retail product list that gets anywhere near that descriptive.  Other mentions of this "Signature Set" seem very much focused on this € 454.91 priced  offering being an AT-AT.  I've seen similar inclinations over at the RS forums.  Given the story of ROGUE ONE and the price, I'm leaning more towards a Death Star set.

This ROGUE ONE product list was originally posted by Star Wars Collector.de (http://starwarscollector.de/news/hinweise-auf-erste-hasbro-rogue-one-artikel/).  Here's the translated text.  The prices that are listed in both Swiss Francs and Euros.

Some item titles you can already guess pretty well to what products could be doing. In some other again, it is the more difficult. Plenty of room for the usual speculation indicated.

Once we learn more about the new Hasbro Rogue One Collectibles, we will tell you about course.

The YF post mentioned an AT-AT... [snip] ...Given the story of ROGUE ONE and the price, I'm leaning more towards a Death Star set.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens with that set as both AT-AT and Death Star toys have been rumored a little bit at various places.

I'm not going to get too excited about either option yet.  I'm not sure I want to spend big $$$ on yet another AT-AT after the last big one was so great. And a potential Death Star set?  It could be either amazing or totally lame, depending on price and what they do with it.  :-\

AT-AT "Signature Set" (https://www.thali.ch/Star-Wars--S1-SWU-3.75-Signature-Set-AT-AT-De.htm) I believe all of the above are case prices, not pack-out prices (i.e. the AT-AT is 2 per case - so half the above price).

I DO NOT need another AT-AT.  I've got three different 1995+ versions already, and I didn't even bother with a couple of the paint deco variations.

I would love to get a Death Star though.  We talked about this at a local meeting a couple of weeks ago - how hard would it be to sell struts and decking in modular packs that would allow you to build as many floors and as wide as you wanted?

Pardon my prior skepticism.  The price seemed significantly higher than what one might expect a BAT-AT reissue to sell for.  Or a Nerf AT-AT, for that matter.

With all the rumors, plus their appearance in the trailer, it would make sense that there would be a new AT-AT. However, much like the Falcon from TFA it is tough to want to pick a new one up if you already own the previous (awesome) BMF versions. I was also really hoping for some sort of Death Star. With what we know of this movie, this might be the best (last?) chance to get something like this. It just seems like if Hasbro was going to take a chance with a new Death Star, now would be the time. A great Christmas item too.

I wonder what kind of Nerf projectile the new AT-AT will feature.

NERF STAR WARS REBELLE

I suspect any toy Death Star would be like the new TMNT movie Technodrome.

I'd be super excited if it wasn't for the new 5 POA standards and smaller ship molds. Now I need to take the wait and see approach.
Title: Re: Rogue One Toy Rumors
Post by: Jesse James on April 27, 2016, 11:19 PM
To be fair on the ships though, the Snowspeeder was scaled properly, and while the Sandspeeder didn't appear in the movie (though that it had a MM makes me think it may have, in the background, actually been there somewhere), seems like a reasonable speeder scale...

Anything else, yeah it's a crapshoot.  The TIE could've been done better.  The X-Wing I never expected more than they gave.  And the TIE having giant wings, yeah I didn't count on that either. :(

Back to rumors...

The TIE Striker seems like a solid bet for a vehicle. Though, my guess is that Hasbro's going to design a totally new cockpit rather than dust off and use the excellent cockpit used by the last Interceptors released, which is a shame.
Title: Re: Rogue One Toy Rumors
Post by: Nicklab on July 2, 2016, 01:00 PM
I'm hoping for the TIE Striker, too.  It seems like a solid choice for a starfighter vehicle assortment.  And I'd also like to see the Rebel U-wing fighter/transport in there, too. And the other obvious vehicle seems to be the Imperial hover tank.

I'd betting the Nerf shooting AT-AT's "head" is a nerf projectile that shoots from the main body.

Having seen the behind the scenes look at Celebration now (a few times) it's clear this movie is going to be the Kenner gift box we all probably were wanting right after the OT era. Figure city. I was initially sort of ho hum on revisiting ground we'd already covered in the films but after seeing the SW costume exhibit a few weeks ago and now this, you know, I'm game to see this era fleshed out some. I love the droids and aliens and troops. I especially love the sort of long hair white Chewbacca alien in the clip.

We'll get a 3.75" and 6" figure of this guy, his backstory in magazines, but he won't actually be in the movie...   :P

So has there been any official confirmation of a Force Friday this fall, and when exactly it is going to take place?

I'm a little surprised that Target hasn't started to clean out its pegs in preparation for the August reset, new assortments, etc.  I know the 6" figs are keeping the same DPCI, but do we know if the 3.75" figs are keeping the same DPCI or going to something new?

September 30. As for the 3.75", he assortment numbers look to have changed so I would expect at DPCI reset as well.

Thanks Jayson.

I guess Target still has plenty of time to clean out the old inventory before then.

I wonder with the DPCI not changing for the 6" figures if we might see some leak early.

I hope Target puts these on sale otherwise there will be a lot of 6" figures getting moved to make room for new stock.

A whole bunch of ROGUE ONE items got listed for pre-order on Amazon earlier today.  But several of them were listed using some of the code names that we've previously seen on some ROGUE ONE rumor lists.  And sure enough, word got back to somebody at either Hasbro or Lucasfilm, because the listings got pulled.  Per SWAN, these were some of the items that got listed (and summarily pulled):

Black Series 6-inch Figures
◦Princess Leia
◦Shark Leader
◦Shark Trooper (Yellow)
◦Tertiary Hero Droid
◦Seal Seer
◦AT-ACT Driver
◦Seal Weaponizer
◦Sabine
◦Obi-Wan Kenobi (From A New Hope – confirmation the SDCC figure will be released regularly, without the extra accessories)
◦and, the best, Darth Vader

Also up for order is the new, big, AT-ACT vehicle!

More leaks via JTA (http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/content/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=18422#shadowbox/9/)

Moroff vs. Scarif Stormtrooper
Rebel Commando Pao vs. Death Trooper

The U-wing is actually huge!
Title: Re: Rogue One Toy Rumors
Post by: Darby on August 24, 2016, 01:33 PM
Moroff was my most wanted from the Celebration reel so this is great. Amazing figure. The U-Wing is huge, but the troop compartment doesn't appear to be functional, at least from these shots. Great stuff overall. Looking forward to everything.
Title: Re: Rogue One Toy Rumors
Post by: Nicklab on August 24, 2016, 02:39 PM
It would definitely be nice if there was some sort of troop space in the belly of the U-wing.  But since they didn't highlight the ventral side of the ship, I don't think it's going to happen.

Moroff looks very cool, and was definitely one of the cooler little gems from the Celebration sizzle reel.  And his general appearance along with a photo that leaked out during production has me wondering if the Wookiees factor in to the construction of the Death Star.

I definitely want to see some more images of the TIE Striker.  The crew compartment looks big enough that I think it's manned by a crew of two.

I'm willing to overlook a lot when it comes to Hasbro 3.75" these days (price, articulation, distribution, etc), but that is one of the worst face paint ap/deco jobs I've seen on a 3.75" figure since the horrible eyes on the first wave of Indiana Jones figures.

If they all look that bad at retail, I will be happy to skip the FO-Snow variant and "blink and you miss him" Poe 2-pack.

The Rogue One goofy monster/alien sets look pretty soild though.  No idea what the heck that Yeti guy is supposed to be, but he looks kinda cool.

The 3D blu-ray will have a deleted expanded version of that end scene where Poe puts on the big rocket launcher pack to blast the Snowtrooper officer that stowed away on the Millenium Falcon.  Finn says "That's one hell of a pilot!" again.

Then they kiss.  ;)

The lack of a Death Trooper in the first couple waves is curious, until you realize Hasbro's strategy is to extend the double dipping they employ with the BS 3.75 line to the 2 packs. We'll probably see a lot more movement on the 2 packs than we have for TFA, and some griping, until the Death Trooper shows up in wave 3. The 2 packs were pretty good for TFA but lacked any really good army building sets (unlike the Rebels series before them) so I'm glad to see them come back to this.
Title: Re: Rogue One Toy Rumors
Post by: Nicklab on September 1, 2016, 04:34 PM
I expect the double dip with the Death Troopers.  And I can't really see myself buying 2 of those 2-packs with Pao & The Death Trooper.  I can hold off on any Death Trooper army building until those start turning up in the WalMart 3.75" Black Series around November or whenever the wave following Ahsoka & Ackbar turns up.

I don't think we'll see more than one wave of figures in any scale. I don't think we'll see that second wave of 2-packs with that sweet 7th Sister set either.  :(

I'm feeling doubtful on the A-Wing and Imperial Speeder too, but not sure how those cases break down so hopefully I'm wrong.

I just can't shake that disappointing memory from last year over how little stuff there was. Maybe they do more this year though.

That's good news...  I'm still interested in seeing it in person before I commit to buying one.  I think it's possibly off enough I won't want one, even though I've wanted a "McQuarrie A-Wing" for eons now in my collection.  I need something pretty cool though and I'm not sure this is gonna hack it.

Post by: Jeff on September 16, 2016, 01:34 PM
Not rumors, but this is really the only "general toy news" thread we have - here are some other nuggets from today's Hasbro Q&A google hangout-

- 3.75" AND 6" versions of TFA General Leia and TFA Luke are still coming... probably not until late next year though (Fall 2017).  [Makes sense to use them to build up to Ep8]

- There will be no 3.75" scale Imperial Hover Tank this year (or next spring).  Better hope for it to appear in another movie or we may not get it for a long time...

- As you would guess, we will eventually get 6" Bespin Han and 6" Endor Han - just not anytime soon.  Probably good odds to get them as we move into 40th Anniv for ESB or into "Han heavy" year to support upcoming Han movie when it happens.

- 3.75" Walmart Black Series will continue with two waves this Fall - we've seen one (Wave 5), the other will have Rogue One figures and will hit later this Fall.

- there will most likely be a 3.75" fan vote next year to go along with the 6" fan vote!  no firm details yet though

- Any Rogue One toy line 'Wave 2' (3.75", 2-packs, 6", etc) will more than likely not be available on 9/30.  Later in the year for Wave 2.

- The secrecy of TFA was a Disney/JJ Abrams thing for the most part.  Things have been much looser with Rogue One and probably will be in some regards with Ep8 since Rey, Kylo, Poe, Finn, etc aren't total secrets anymore.

- look for news soon on Black Series 6" retailer exclusives (like last year, expect the usual suspect to have them - we've seen Kmart, but Walmart, Target, TRU should all be in play again)

- look for info soon on some other Rogue One 6" guys like Baze, Chirrut, etc.  *may* be tied into above retailer exclusive announcement, but that could just be my interpretation.

- Marvel comic pack 2-packs idea gets kicked around from time to time, would be focused on the newest marvel comics/characters if they did it though

- and finally, there were more hints of some type of return/honor/nod to the vintage line to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of ANH next year.  Nothing firm, but lots of hinting again...

There may have been a few other things, but that's the bulk I think.

Be sure to check out Yakface (http://yakface.com/), Star Wars Action News (https://twitter.com/swactionnews), and  JediNewsUK (http://www.jedinews.co.uk/) for more.  There was one other place in attendance, but I must admit I didn't know who they were - StarWarsUnderworld?  Apologies to them as I don't know them as wel as the others...

Thanks for the great info Jeff!

Kind of figured on Luke and Leia, but nice to see them at least speak to it. The lack of the Hover Tank is extremely odd. It features in nearly every other scale so far and would be a slam dunk to keep the Class II (or III? Whatever the FO Snow Speeder was) assortment going. Maybe its not a huge part of the movie so they're laying off, but still. Plus we need the driver! He's the coolest new trooper in the movie.

It does seem a little odd in that we got several new vehicles from TFA, including some that didn't even make the final cut, yet we're getting none from Rogue One.  I believe that Hover Tank has been shown in nearly all of the teasers, trailers, and Celebration footage made available.  Maybe its not a critical ship to the plot, but it has been shown a lot.

It does seem a little odd in that we got several new vehicles from TFA, including some that didn't even make the final cut, yet we're getting none from Rogue One.

Remember, when the Rogue One line was initially planned, Episode 8 was coming in May 2017.  Rogue One toys had a small window, which is why the line isn't so expansive.  Maybe they were worried about a small release windo in case new Ep8 Class 2 would be needed?

Seems like a strange omission (and a sorely missed one) but it seems to be a casualty of the whacky shifting timelines of Ep7-R1-Ep8.  :-\

I think it's the short window...  Only so much time, like Jeff said.  Plus those TFA ships but them in the ass with having limited info to go on.  Then they're cut and you're sol.  Like Zuvio for that matter.  I'm sure they reevaluated how they're rolling things out going forward.

Lots of good info there!  I wish it had been better publicized, because I would've liked to have seen it live.

It wasn't live. It was a private hangout/conference call.

No hover tank?

Should not be surprised. Collecting Star Wars lately has been pretty tankless.

Oh.  Still, not a bad way to hold a press avail.

Bummed about the Hovertank.  But when have we ever gotten every vehicle in a movie in one shot?

That's what they're saying in Dublin.

No, but it seems in the action figure line we are getting 3 vehicles from Rogue One.  With 2 from REBELS, and one of those is a repaint. 5 new vehicles in a movie year is light.

Well, Hasbro does seem to be hoping that we're going to be buying this $300 AT-ACT.  And that's just not happening for me.

But there is this possible 6" vehicle rumor that's been circulating.  That one has me a little curious.

Considering they seem to be waiting for spring to announce/show this hypothetical new 6 inch vehicle, it's probably from ANH. If so, most likely the X-Wing. Maybe a Imperial TIE, but I'd rather see something different.

Not a rumor, but a general report - Hasbro Pulse (http://pulse.hasbro.com/en-us/news/article?article=rogue_one_a_star_wars_story_introduces_the_scarif_stormtrooper) today confirms that all three Scarif Stormtrooper ranks will get 3.75" figures by the spring.   Good news!

Scarif Stormtrooper
- Rogue One 3.75" basic figure wave 3
- Walmart 3.75" Black Series wave 7

Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader
- Rogue One 3.75" figure 2-pack wave 1 (with Morrow)

Scarif Stormtrooper Captain
- TBD

Seems like an easy repaint for the 6" line too.

I maintain the Captain will show up with Bistan in one of the two packs.

The Shoretrooper Captain/Bistan pack is a really, really safe bet at this point.  :-X

Hopefully it's not hard to find. All of the RO two packs are piling up high around here.

You mean like this?
55187090 SW R1 SHORETROOPER CAPTAIN AND BISTAN

Also of interest on the Rogue One front?

SW RI DC UNI PILOT AND SHK TROOP YELLOW

Oh.  And what's this?

SW E8 DC VICTOR GUARD AND TANGO RED
SW E8 FX FOXTROT 1 BLUE LIGHTSABER

Victor Guard is Benecio Del Toro's character. Tango Red is Kurt Russell's character.

UNI PILOT is a new Unicorn rebel pilot, a nod to Bronies.

SHK TROOPER YELLOW is a first order stormtrooper with ugly yellow markings.

I read the first sentence of that and thought I'd accidentally stumbled into an Episode 8 spoilers thread...
