Joe Defender / G.I. Joe Toy Fair
« on: February 11, 2012, 02:25 PM »
I'm following the Imperial Holocron Twitter feed (http://twitter.com/impholocron) for news/info on the Joe line from the Toy Fair presentation...  Eric was kind enough to let me use his info, so head there to check out more as it comes in and follow him if you're on Twitter (And me too @Jesse_James77 & @JediDefender)!  I'll update as we go here.

-50 Figures From Retaliation, 9 Vehicles, CC Exclusives...  Not a shabby year for Joe fans!

-Wave 2, Firefly, Flint, Snake Eyes & Stormshadow (who'da thunk it!?), & Roadblock.

Methinks Roadblock might be a popular guy with Hasbro this year.

-Bruce "Joe Colton" Willis & Lady Jaye... also Alley Viper, Cyber Ninja, & Dragon Ninja in Wave 3.

Hasbro loves them Ninjas.  I'm giddy!  :)  Can't wait to see both, and Flint...  and Firefly...  F it, I like the line in general.

-Wave 4, Jinx & Blind Master.

-Wave 5 Crimson Guard & Night Viper?  Sweet!

They're really revealing some pretty far ahead waves it seems.  What'll be left for later shows?  Blowing their Joe wad early.

Make sure you follow @ImpHolocron!  E's the man!

Gentle Giant / 2012 PG Rebel Fleet Trooper Mini-Bust
« on: February 11, 2012, 12:18 AM »

As with all GG stuff I'm interested but cannot afford to pick up yet another hobby...  I really am tempted on this one though.  I tend to pick up all things RFT, and GG's will probably be pretty outstanding.  :-\

Must...  resist...  uh what the hell, I may try tracking this down.

LEGO / Lego Mini Planet/Ship/Figure Sets
« on: January 4, 2012, 07:49 PM »
These are available on Lego Shop for $9.99, and some sweet pics of Series 1!

Given Hasbro's F-You to collectors this year, I'm even more interested in these and less interested in Hasbro product, so I'm definitely going to collect this small sub-line.  It's too cool to pass up IMO.

Watto's Junk Yard / Security Camera Systems... Anyone Have Them?
« on: December 29, 2011, 08:52 PM »
I got an inexpensive 2-camera set with a monitor for Christmas...  I got it because I'd been looking around at them since I had some neighbor issues, which included threats, and so I was looking to just be sure I caught anything that happened on camera (plus I kinda find security cameras a cool idea).

What I was wondering though...  what should I do to hook them up so they record?  Like, what are the options there?  I assume a VCR or your own DVR would work right?  I have a cable company DVR but can you hook it up to that too?  Can you hook it up to a computer, and if so, how?  It has the AV cables for hooking up to the monitor...  Don't really see many options otherwise on how it could/would hook up to anything else.  :-\

Anyone here experienced with security cameras at all?  I like the goofy aspect, even just to watch animals or whatnot.  I'm hoping the neighbor is gone once his lease is up, but you never know.  At that point I'd use it for animal (as opposed to *******) watching or whatnot.

1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / 12" Phase I Clone Capt. Announced
« on: November 17, 2011, 08:52 PM »
Along with the 442nd Siege Trooper they've announced a Phase I Clone Captain.  Kind of going through the motions with the Phase I's, and a figure I think will be popular.

1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / 12" 442nd Siege Clonetrooper
« on: November 17, 2011, 08:51 PM »
Odd choice IMO, but if you're into the militaries line, this announcement is kind of cool for the obscurity fans.

It'd be great to see them pack in some siege-specific gear like mortars, range-finders, or other stuff like that.

12" toy lines really focus on the diversity of militaries, but the gear makes some of the soldiers what they are IMO, and Sideshow needs to up that I think.

Bespin Luke is on the horizon and Hot Toys seemed to have teased a pic of an exclusive accessory he'll have.  :o

Pretty neat, but I cannot fathom this figure will be affordable for many. :)  HT makes insane stuff though.  As good as Sideshow is, HT is in a whole other realm in this hobby.

Toy Reviews / New JD Review: 2012 Naboo Pilot & Ric Olie
« on: October 18, 2011, 10:12 PM »
Been a while again but I did another review...  this time I did one on the new Naboo Pilot & Ric Olie figures, courtesy of Hobbystock.cn!

Clicky to read the review!

I have to say, I liked both pilots, a lot, and had few real complaints...  The usual suspects of a lack of paint aps (mostly just on detail stuff, the paintjob's not even really bad at all) and the eventual regular retail price will probably be the main factors against the figures.

Ultimately they're articulated heavily, and are vastly superior to the original Ric Olie figure.  They actually made him fairly interesting.  :-X  And the head variant is just icing on the cake.  Hasbro trying to get their collectors to double-up on Naboo Fighter purchases in 2012? ;)  The base figure would be a nice way to maybe get the black Pilot out, and the woman would be nice too though I think she may require a new torso ultimately.

The helmet paintjobs are particularly slick.  Make sure you check that out.

As always, apologies for photography.  I did that myself, and do the best I can with what I have.  :-[

Enjoy and share your thoughts please!

Star Wars Ships and Vehicles / Ewok's Pimped Out Ride...
« on: October 4, 2011, 11:26 PM »
...isn't done, but guess what I found!?  :)

I was cleaning out storage buildings I have for a family sale we were going to have, and wouldn't you know it, I saved a "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves" Battle Wagon, and it's 99% complete, only missing the "hook" piece to the catapult.

I'm going to give it a paintjob since, even with a box and almost complete, these are apparantly worthless.  I'll make it my own Ewok wagon since that was its birth in the first place, but with a good paintjob I think it'll be a billion times cooler, even lacking the big skull.

Plus, I really feel as though Ewoks have a ****** display set-up and I now have a pretty sizable army of furballs between hood swapping, a little minor repainting, weapon swapping, etc.  It's really easy these days to make a decent army of these guys!  If only there were Wompus, right?  Right.

So yeah, something for them to ride into battle (without any clear means of it moving itself).  Yeah, it'll basically just be a big way to display them without having an entire Ewok Village playset out there (I have that too, but yeah, it's a spacehog for figure displaying).

The Vintage Collection / Vintage Figures Being Pulled Off Shelves
« on: September 22, 2011, 11:57 AM »
So Yakface and JTA are both reporting that Vintage Figures are getting taken off the pegs...  I've not seen this myself yet, but it's good news since it does seem to be happening according to their reports.

I'm just curious which ones ultimately are gone, and can the ROTS Clone PLEASE be the first one to get yanked?

I saw Dengar/CC Pilot mentioned, and that's all well and good, but I don't have literally 3 dozen of those at a single store.  ROTS Clone, yeah, he overshipped a little bit.  My WM stores would probably have gotten in a deluge of Wave 7 if it weren't for this pud.

Other Toy Lines / Anyone Buying M.U.S.C.L.E. Guys?
« on: September 7, 2011, 09:11 PM »
I've got a box of these little pink buggers that really need a home, even their wrestling ring (though it's seen better days).  They were pretty slick, and boy howdy I'd like to see them find a good home since they're not doing me any good here now.

I can't tell from Ebay really if you can sell them easily or not though.  Seems like some, perhaps, but others not.

Since the good ole Rebels don't sport facemasks (except in EU outfits like the Infiltrators), I was thinking about which distinct/unique troopers I'd really like to get in the modern line...  With some pretty definitive Rebel Trooper bodies that would require only a new headsculpt, or possibly a new torso or small alteration to arms or whatnot, I think there could be some very cool specific characters (named or unnamed) put into the line.

First up, I really want this guy made...

http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090201063311/starwars/images/thumb/4/4e/Pornostache.jpg/251px-Pornostache.jpg
(Fun to note whoever loaded the pic put the name "pornostache" to the .jpg file)

So Hoth Pornostache Commander is my first pick...  Some will go right away with a certain Endor Rebel I think, but this guy is cool, had a line, and sort of had a figure in the Vintage days...  I hope someday they figure a way to sneak him into a multi-pack or some such.

Let's try to just do one at a time that we'd really like...

Next?
