Watto's Junk Yard / Re: How many here live far away from family?
« on: November 26, 2003, 08:57 AM »
My parents live about 10 miles from us right now, but in a couple years they will retire to their cabin in the Mountains. (also about 10-11 hours away).

It is great having them so close on Weekends, because they love watching our 2 year old.

That would have been great...and man if my wife thinks she is cold at a Hockey Game now, imagine that!!

OF course if we tried that here, it would be water polo....

By the way, when does Dallas get the All Star game?  I thought it was either this year or next since we got the new Arena.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Thanksgiving Plans?
« on: November 25, 2003, 05:00 PM »
Fried Turkey is Great.  I have yet to do it myself (much to my wifes pleasure), but my Uncle Does one every year since it got "trendy" and it is always evenly cooked and tender throughout, and he used to petrify some poor butterballs back in the Smoker days.

Luckily for me, both sets of MY Grandparents live with 30 minutes drive and this our year to be with my family so I actually get the day off. (not to mention the InLaws don't watch TV on Thanksgiving, some sort of tradition)

Should be fun though, since my brother and his wife are FINALLY getting the divorce they have been fighting about for a year..., but sadly for me his wife is still coming with him, so we may have some Springer Episodes before the Cowboy game. (if they try getting loud or disruptive DURING the game, my 88 year old Guadalcanal Vet Grandfather will throw them out of the house, he loves the Corps and Cowboys)

The other twist this year is that I am on day 16 of the South Beach Diet..so Turkey=good, everything else=eat while the wife isn't looking....

I wonder if Brenda throws better than Kurt these days?  Man I guess all the Hot wives are married to Hockey Players...

Spiderlegs does have a point, we are not 5-11 or 1-15 so this season is a success for the 'Boys.  I am just scared where we would be with a REAL Quarterback.  Probably 9 or 10 wins...

It looks like whoever ends the season in the NFC with 10 wins will be in the playoffs.  How sad is that.  No dominant teams in the NFC, where have you gone Late 80's early 90's???? I blame Parity, the Salary Cap and Chan Gailey....

Saga '02-'04 / Re: New Luke,R1-G4,R2-D2 Carded Pic
« on: November 25, 2003, 03:37 PM »
I am excited by these for sure.  Jedi Luke is one of those figures that I have wanted a re-do on since the SOTE days.  Until this one, the Vintage was still a superior figure.  I also like the soft cloak.  The Molded Cloaks just never really looked right to me.  I know other people like em, but ever since the POTJ Lando, I've been hoping they'd do more.

I don't know if I'd call R1 boring, I mean, it IS a figure of a character that has not seen plastic yet.  I realize he doesn't do much..but I do plan to get at least 2.

I like the R2-D2 too. I haven't thought about it enough to know if I am disappointed about the lack of colored plastic in the cups, but I would have expected just like you guys did that that would be the case.

Oh well.  Instead of just wanting one figure per wave, like this year, it looks like I can finally buy cases online and not get stuck with a bunch of useless (to me at least) figures.

Right, it is always best to believe the Media...especially from a place were fans put batteries in snow balls and that crappy turf ended the career of the guy you are trying to crucify.

I'm sure Dallas is the not only place that has had players who got into trouble...

Besides Keyshawn couldn't play with Galloway and Glenn, we'd have to get rid of one of their Salaries to fit him in.  The problem would be we don't have a quarter back that can get him the ball, unless he likes it thrown behind him.

It would take some serious work for Keyshawn to fit under the Salary Cap here at his present salary.  Besides we need a Running Back.

As far as NFC contenders go, and as much as it pains me, I think the 49'ers have a good chance to come on strong at the end.  And it is true what you say, it is the team that finishes strong or hits their stride at the end that usually has the best playoff run, unless they choke on success.

I ordered on Monday, got an email that said they had shipped and that I would be enjoying my figures by the weekend.

I'll let you guys know if they show up.

UPDATE
**********************************

They were waiting on the front porch when I got home.  I ordered them a full 2 weeks after I ordered Santa Yoda, got the confirmation 2 days later, got the figures probably a week earlier....

Oh and my shipping was $7.01.  I feel like I owe them $1.06 since all they charged was $5.95....

I have to agree, I am a die hard Cowboy fan and when the season started, all I wanted for Christmas was a better showing than 5-11.....now that we've got that, I have amended my list to picking up a Quarterback in the Offseason that can do more than "Mangage" a game, but win one.  Carter is the best we've got, but far from good.

Every win from now on is just Icing for me.

My only complaint is that with the Defense we have, most High School QB's could at least find a way to put 14 points on the board and win some games......

I think they will win the Division this year, but lose in the first round....

The Original Trilogy / Rogue Squadron Members Names in OT
« on: November 17, 2003, 10:03 PM »
What were the names of the Rogue Squadron Members that we know of during the OT era....

I know in ANH they were all designated "Red" but were they still the Rogues?

I know the Books (the best series yet written) give us some new ones, but I really wanted to figure out who all was a Rogue between ANH (or shortly before) and Death Star II exploding...

Star Wars Action Figures / Hoth Soldier Possibilities
« on: November 14, 2003, 03:29 PM »
OK looking at the New Hoth Trooper Figure/Statuette, I was wondering if any of you have him and what the possibility of putting the new Hoth Luke's legs on him would be to make him LESS dynamic?

Or in the alternative, is Lukes Uniform something that could be painted/modified to make a decent Echo Base Tech/trooper?

The figures won't make it to the shelves here till about June of 2004....

I plan on Customizing the Hoth Stuff like crazy, I just don't know when they will be here in large enough numbers to justify it.
