Medicom update today, this was the only SW Kuby to come up.
[wandahuesuteibaru] 2009 (summer) the opening commemoration limited commodity 2009 July 26th sale schedule queue/cue brick Special No.322 KUBRICK CHEWBACCA (TM) Distribution price ¥1,575 (including tax) - Total height approximately 60mm.
1,575 yen is approx $16.55 US. 60mm = 2.36".
The Early Bird set Chewy:
I had to do some checking on this, it looks like Chewy is carded!
Posted over at the Toyworld forum (http://www.toy-world.com.hk/forum/redirect.php?tid=16391&goto=newpost)
Translation ala Bablefish: Medicom 2009/07 KUBRICK CHEWBACCA blister card specification.

So a carded Chewy limited to 1000 pieces, looks like 500 at the show & 500 online I think.
Jeff, can you do some checking around & hopefully shed more light on this?
-
I think Jayson said it... the Wookies are getting a lot of love recently.
Not sure how I feel about a repaint of Chewbacca. I'll probably see if my "local" Japan contact can get one but I don't expect to lose sleep hunting for it.

Yeah, you've got it right - he'll be carded like the other WonderFest figures (500 at the show, 500 on-line via the Medicom site).
Man, it's been a while since they did a carded figure at WonderFest/WCC shows. I think the Shadow Stormie was the last one.... the last few shows have been 400% ewoks I think.
And, with an editon size of 1000, he should settle down below $100 range, if history holds. I'll definitely be buying one for my carded set. :)

Hah! You & me both ya insane Kuby collector! ;D
You do know that Medicom will put us both in a looney bin or atleast make us broke. (http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/konfus/e026.gif)
-
Here's the online order page from bearbrick.com (http://www.bearbrick.com/wf2009s/)
We will not accept the order from the outside of Japan and will not deliver this to abroad.
-
Damn I just updated my sig with all the carded figs I still don't have! ::)
This is a must have though, you can't have enough of Mr Chewlious P. Bacca :P
-
I dont know if i need this one...although i am sure i will buy it. >:D
-
That makes Vader, Luke, Han, Obi, and Chewie on cards. Of the core characters left, they have the droids and Leia, and I suppose you could argue Lando and the Emperor. I wonder if it will continue? Medicom is about as predictable as a spider monkey on crack, so who knows.
-
I will get it, hopefully it will fall below $100
-
Super-size look at Chewie, but still no carded pics... we probably won't see those until the show if history is any indication.

I just put out my email request to my local Japan contact. We'll see if they can come through or not.
-
Cute little devil. Too bad they didn't re-work the crossbow though to look more prop accurate or to mimic the vintage weapon to help further differentiate it from the EB version.
-
I usually pass on all carded exclusives but this is a MUST for me... sigh... Hopefully it's not too hard to get.

Tokyo Hunter had a post of this the other day. You can order with him until the 25th of July, but I don't know what his fee will be.

Can you clarify if this is a raffle or not? My contact in Japan had indicated that this was a raffle procedure like many previous items where the supply is quite limited. Limit of one per household as well, I believe. No price information on my end either, but I'd guess it'll be in that $15-25 range from Medicom themselves and then skyrocket in auctions before settling out.
-
The order form at bearbrick (http://www.bearbrick.com/wf2009s/) indeed says it's limited to 1 per address/family. Don't know about the raffle thingy.

Reading comprehension... ::)

Limited to 1000. 500 at the show, 500 on-line. Like always, if more than 500 people order via the website, it is a raffle to decide who gets them (limit 1 per address).
Also...
1,575 yen is approx $16.55 US. 60mm = 2.36".
1575 Yen = $16.50 USD plus shipping if you are lucky enough to get one from Medicom.
-
Yeah, I got the 500 online thing, what wasn't abundantly clear was raffle or no. I was informed raffle when my bud ordered, so I was wondering if there was clarification that this had been stated somewhere else as an absolute occurrence. He has yet to miss out on a raffle, so I can't say whether they actually ever get the maximum number of orders or not. It is somewhat difficult to tell amongst all the excitement we generate at this site with our foolishly rabid toy habit. So I asked, shoot me :P
Yes, I missed Dale's original price post, sorry. But what no one seems to ever factor in is the shipping cost within Japan above that 1575 Yen price, so my ballpark price of $15-25 is bang on. Now go crap on SaaiBork for asking and causing me to answer. ;)

The top picture looks more like the Earlybird Chewie but the bottom picture his satchel and belt are a different colour.

-
Got mine today, in great shape.
-
Don't know how it will end up working, but in talking to my friend in Japan he indicated it sold out very, very quickly online and he was unable to get me one. So it was very popular, moreso than some other stuff perhaps. Not sure if that will make it more expensive later or not.
Anyone have comparison shots with the EB version? I open my stuff so if it's not sufficiently different, I may end up passing on it.

Mine did not.

Thanks Dale. I think I'll end up getting it, but not a huge priority at this time. If I see a cheap one I'll snag it, but otherwise will practice patience.

Mine is ont he way for $44 shipped. Yay!
-
