« on: December 7, 2003, 10:16 PM »
I noticed that on the Toys-R-Us website they put up loose images of the Vintage figure sets. I think they are just using someone Vintage figs for the images but hey, theres pictures.

So does anyone know if these are going to be like the re-issues 4-pack they had back in 1997?

No clue,I hope they do what they did back in 1995,since it would just be wrong to rerelease vintage figures.

I've got all of the figures in these sets, but if I saw them in my local TRU I'd probably pick them up anyway. I think Amazon has these as well.

Just what the world needs: more pissed off collectors. Rereleasing these is a pretty bad idea, IMO. If they're authentic vintage, that's fine, but if these are like the 1995 4-pack, no.

I think if they changed the date stamp it would be fine, since some of us have, errr, less than sane phobias  ::).Remember the article on detererating vintage being hazardous?Couple that with being 10 and having two members of your family with Cancer, one of which had recently died. And bam! You've got a phobia of PVC that only in the last three months you've gotten over.

Hey All,

I remembered this from a few months back, so I did a little digging.  These vinty sets were reported on GH.com and then a bunch of "star wars crazies" e-mailed the distributors of the items and got this response (which I lifted from galactichunter.com):

Vintage @ Amazon Update
9/22/2003 12:40:01 PM | Reported by Mike

A couple of our readers dig further into the Vintage listings we reported about this weekend. The company who is distibuting these, Distributoys, responds:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your interest in the Vintage Star Wars figures available at ToysRus.com/ Amazon.com. We have had many emails regarding these items and we are very excited to be able to bring something special to Star Wars collectors everywhere.

These limited edition sets are made up of Star Wars figures that were released in the late 1970¹s and early 1980¹s. The figures in these sets are "loose", that's is to say, they are out of their original packaging but are still original, ³collectible condition² action figures.

Kenner released many Star Wars action figures and many different action figures of the same characters. The following action figures are contained in each Limited Edition Vintage Star Wars Action Figure Set:

Good Guys Set-
Luke Skywalker in X-Wing Outfit
C3PO
Hoth Soldier

Bounty Hunters Set-
IG-88
Boba Fett
Dengar

Bespin Set-
Han Solo in Bespin Gear
Chewbacca
Lando Calrissian
Lobot
Storm Trooper

All sets come with the correct assortment of weapons and accessories.

We hope that you are as excited about these Limited Edition Vintage Star Wars Action Figure Sets as we are. Please make sure that you check back with ToysRus.com/ Amazon.com often as we will be adding new sets all the time.

Thanks again.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While these aren't officially "re-issued" figures persay, that's still a darn fair price for loose vintys if they're complete and in decent condition. If any of you ordered them and received yours, please email us with an update!

Thanks to readers Jason and Chad for the follow-up!

Yep, that's the real (vintage) deal there David!  Wonder how them selling these at Amazon came about...  Pretty weird, huh?  Good way for new vintage collectors to get a few figures for relatively cheap though...

Well, I got the one set of the Vintage Figs that I ordered for a gift today in the mail.  I am giving them to my Nephew for Christmas. They are loose and come in little cylinder cases.

These are not NEW they are the actual Vintage figures. I would say the set is like this
Boba Fett (worn and dirty) = C7
Dengar = 9.5
IG-88 = C9.75

I know my nephew will be happy with these figures for Christmas. He likes the Bounty Hunters.
