Revenge of the Sith / Re: Sam's Club Exclusives?
« on: August 30, 2005, 02:14 PM »
Hopefully with these items being exclusives, coupled with the fact that you must be a member to get into Sam's, (unless you get a free pass or one-day coupon) these will be remotely easy for most to attain. Cuz I'm tellin ya, with four figures included, these are an incedible deal!

Rather than endlessly bashing this, and God knows I could, I'll simply say that I am glad for those who want this and I will be happy for those who can find it.

Is that Delva character Natalie Portman? Looks like here figure (no pun intended). Sorry I just watched that movie that she plays a stripper. If that outfit were any shorter she'd have to shave!  ;)

I checked all of my nearby, and not so nearby, Targets yesterday and none of them even had shelf tags for these. The one exclusive that I really want and I probably won't be able to find. It ******* figures! Hopefully the price on this will discourage at least one potential buyer thus allowing me to be able to find it eventually. ;)

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Anyone Else Bored?
« on: August 30, 2005, 01:36 PM »
I fall into the 'frustrated' crowd. It's not that I don't like the stuff, it's just that I can't find the stuff. I haven't found any Clone repaints or anything over Anakin #50. That's pathetic considering most of this stuff started hitting shelfs back in June! What's more, most of the store shelfs around here aren't  even remotely full while two outta three of the Wal*Mart's are nearly totally empty... and have been for two months (the other Wally World is loaded with April figures).

Don't get me going on over-priced Target, or online  exclusive figures (or the Vader 500 for that matter)- I've started carrying a jar of vasoline with me just so I can prepare myself when somebody mentions "Exclusive".

Yeah, frustrated! That's  a good word to describe how I feel.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target Clones Return?!?
« on: August 16, 2005, 07:18 PM »
Some of these hit here in Mid Michigan about three weeks back. They weren't marked down however, and it took about five days to sell them. Still, pretty cool to see `em in the store since I had missed the original release.

Thanks for the great observations and information DoctorPadawan! I knew very little of that, and I have all four ships as well. I guess I'll have to air brush some more 'damage' onto one of the vehicles that have utilized the same battle-damage paint template. Still haven't come up with a good solution for the R4 stickers. The rest of the vehicle stickers I will exacto and make-do.

Other Collectibles / Re: Star Wars "Choppers"?
« on: July 24, 2005, 11:37 AM »
Choppers and other crazy lines are not my thing or even most of yours I'd wager. Here's the thing, I don't think there supposed to be, entirely anyway. Let's face it, they have to find a way to keep interest going in the Star Wars toys and broadeneing their horizons is one sure-fire way to do just that. So, in short, if they have to make ten goofy Star Wars lines to keep my action figure line alive a little longer, I m all for it.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Geonosis Wave
« on: July 23, 2005, 06:57 PM »
so long as we get a resculpt of Jango Fett, I'm happy. Maybe my dreams of having an SA mandalorian army will be granted yet!

That would be great indeed but after getting news that the Carkoon Boba is going to be the 'rocket Fett' sculpt I'm not holding my breath. To bad too, either Fett is as good a candidate for super articulation as the Clone or Stormy.

I'd love to get that Jedi Mickey. I've been in love with my sons plush Jedi mickey since he got it in May. I'd love to be able to add him to my SW collection at some point. Any idea if this 2 pk. can be found online anywhere ?

After reading a lot of the threads that speculate as to what figures would be in each themed wave, it dawned on me, a lot of these waves have repeating figures, or at least according to some speculations. For example, the Battle Droid COULD show up in the E1, E2 and E3 waves. But I think it is safe to assume it won't. Many characters, even main, need only show up once in the entire line.

I have just now taken the time to look at The Saga Collection as a whole, as well as, seven themed waves from six films. The list below is based off the Battle of Carkoon wave and it's six figures (known figures are shown in caps). Of the six Carkoon figures none are real surprises, except MAYBE Barada, while four are almost totally expected. So, in theory, the rest of the list should be almost as unremarkable (not meaning that in a bad way mind you). With that simple formula in mind as well as the fact that all waves seem to be titled after a popular battle from a specific planet that included only certain characters, here are some of the figures I expect to see:

1.   Jar Jar,   Battle of Naboo from Episode I
2.   Qui-Gon, Battle of Naboo from Episode I
3.   Obi-Wan, Battle of Naboo from Episode I
4.   Amidala, Battle of Naboo from Episode I
5.   Gungan, Battle of Naboo from Episode I
6.   Darth Maul, Battle of Naboo from Episode I
7.   Nute Gunray, Battle of Naboo from Episode I
8.   Naboo Guard, Battle of Naboo from Episode I
9.   Battle Droid, Battle of Geonosis from Episode II
10.   Clone Trooper, Battle of Geonosis from Episode II
11.   Anakin, Battle of Geonosis from Episode II
12.   Padme, Battle of Geonosis from Episode II
13.   Dooku, Battle of Geonosis from Episode II
14.   Jango, Battle of Geonosis from Episode II
15.   Mace, Battle of Geonosis from Episode II
16.   Palpy, Battle of Coruscant from Episode III
17.   Yoda, Battle of Coruscant from Episode III
18.   Anakin w/ name Vader, Battle of Coruscant from Episode III
19.   501st Clone, Battle of Coruscant from Episode III
20.   Shock Trooper, Battle of Coruscant from Episode III
21.   Kit, Battle of Coruscant from Episode III
22.   R5, Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV
23.   3PO, Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV
24.   Luke, Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV
25.   Ben, Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV
26.   Tusken, Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV
27.   SANDTROOPER, Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV
28.   Jawa, Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV
29.   Leia, Battle of Death Star from Episode IV
30.   Han Stormy, Battle of Death Star from Episode IV
31.   Luke Stormy, Battle of Death Star from Episode IV
32.   Stormy, Battle of Death Star from Episode IV
33.   Tarkin, Battle of Death Star from Episode IV
34.   Imp Officer, Battle of Death Star from Episode IV
35.   Rebel Officer, Battle of Hoth from Episode V
36.   Luke, Battle of Hoth from Episode V
37.   Han, Battle of Hoth from Episode V
38.   2-1B, Battle of Hoth from Episode V
39.   Rebel Pilot, Battle of Hoth from Episode V
40.   Vader, Battle of Hoth from Episode V
41.   R2, Battle of Hoth from Episode V
42.   Snowtrooper, Battle of Hoth from Episode V
43.   BARADA, Battle of Carkoon from Episode VI
44.   BIB FORTUNA, Battle of Carkoon from Episode VI
45.   BOBA FETT   , Battle of Carkoon from Episode VI
46.   BOUSHH, Battle of Carkoon from Episode VI
47.   CHEWBACCA, Battle of Carkoon from Episode VI
48.   HAN SOLO,    Battle of Carkoon from Episode VI
49.   TIE Pilot   , Battle of Endor from Episode VI
50.   Spirit Anakin, Battle of Endor from Episode VI
51.   Lando, Battle of Endor from Episode VI
52.   Emperor,   Battle of Endor from Episode VI
53.   Leia/Ewok, Battle of Endor from Episode VI
54.   Luke, Battle of Endor from Episode VI
55.   Rebel Commando, Battle of Endor from Episode VI
56.   Scout, Battle of Endor from Episode VI

Oh yeah, after seeing how Hasbro chose to do things over the past decade, and knowing that this line will be mostly long-term fan sustained, it may be safe to assume that figures like Stormtroopers, Sandtroopers, Scouts, Clones, Battle Droids, Generic Soldiers, etc. will come in several vaying colors, schemes, and/or decos. For example; the E1 clone would be available in a white, yellow, blue, red etc. whereas the Battle Droid may be offered in tan and red as well as clean and dirty or battle damaged. You get the idea.

Whadya think, am I pretty close to the mark here?

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: ROTS Easter Eggs
« on: May 27, 2005, 10:38 AM »
Not really an easter egg but for some strange reason I didn't catch it till the second viewing. It's the scene were Anakin defeats Dooku and afterwards say's something like "I shouldn't have done that, he was un-ARMED". Ouch!!! I usually get punchlines much quicker than this. I must be slipping. :-[

Now back to the easter egg topic. Nothing new really but I just love the scene were Obi and Yoda storm the temple (seeing the pair finally fight side by side was worth it's weight in gold to me) and Yoda throws his saber into the clones chest, jumps on said clone, then yanks it from his body before he even hits the ground. What an absolutely amazing scene!!!

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Post your ROTS reviews and thoughts!
« on: May 20, 2005, 01:14 PM »
Let me start by saying that this film is visually stunning, especially the space and city scenes. I mean it was absolutely gorgeous! Also, I loved that they finally tied up all the loose ends. I particularly liked how the issue with 3PO’s apparent lack of knowledge of Tatooine in E4 was taken care of with one simple three second, off-the-cuff remark at the end of the film. I loved the homage to Karloff's Frankenstien monster etc. Great stuff!

Unfortunately that’s where the good stuff ends for me. Perhaps the most unbearable part of this film to watch was the first thirty minutes. Although visually stunning, the corniness was at an all-time high. Much worse than all other SW films cheese level combined and it made light of all of these serious, tense, life or death situations and made them seem unimportant and even insignificant. Example; Why change the voices of the battle droids all of a sudden and why make them a hundred times dumber with idiotic comments and sounds that came out of them in every scene that is not how they were ever portrayed??? I know they made some silly comments in TPM but this was really bad. The cheese in this film was so over the top it was ridiculous!

Speaking of cheese, what was Grevious’s problem with the coughing and hacking? Was it Lucas’s attempt to make him seem decrepit and feeble and not much of an opponent so when the fight scene finally came we would be surprised at how well this guy can fight? Isn’t that pretty much the same formula GL used for Yoda and Palpy? Here, it was unnecessary and just plain dumb. Maybe Grevious was asthmatic and it just wasn’t explained ‘on film’, who knows? The Grevious character, IMHO, fell flat and came off unimportant in the end.

Speaking of characters; everyone, especially Padme`, Yoda and Palpy seemed to really be ‘out of character’ in this film. I mean they were acting, doing and saying things in a completely different manner in which we’d seen in any film to this point. It was bad! I know that Lucas has an uncanny ability to get mediocre acting from good actors but this was something completely different. I can’t quite put my finger on it however.

I was also a little surprised at the music, was this John Williams? Was it rehashed old stuff? What the heck was going on here with the score? The music didn’t seem to be nearly as fluid and in-tune with the film as it did in every other Star Wars film ever made. It seemed to be lacking and even felt at times like it just didn’t fit at all. Perhaps it was just because of the several scenes that stood out that had absolutely no mood music in the background whatsoever; perhaps it was something else entirely. Again, I don’t know?

Ultimately I felt, for some unknown reason, that this film just did not have that Star Wars feel to it. Its five predecessor films all gave me a certain feeling that when I left the theater I said to myself “Yeah, THAT was Star Wars”. This one left me scratching my head and wondering if I truly enjoyed the film or not. And for a Star Wars film, to a Star Wars fan, that can't be a good thing.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: More Target Exclusives?
« on: April 24, 2005, 05:06 PM »
The thing that chaps my ass the most here is the fact that Hasbro does nothing, NUH-THING, to look out for those who are most loyal to their product when chains like Target insist on screwing us so badly without so much as the common courtesy of lubrication. My God, we throw money hand over fist at these people and this is the thanks we get?

What's more, with a MSRP of $9.99, the Measel Clone was clearly meant for collectors! Are we supposed to look at this as a favor or something??? Why couldn't this just be a simple variation like everything else now days? Damn, they're just dots! And not even seven or eight dollars worth of red dots at that!!!
Not sure what I expected though considering they're in it to make money, not friends. Still, what a slap to the face. What a let-down.  ::)
