The Vintage Collection / Re: Hasbro Weekly Q and A
« on: December 17, 2006, 11:21 PM »
There's a bitchfest/jerk-off-over-playsets-fest over at the Yakface Forums, and I'm trying to convince them to stop beating the dead horse and accepting the fact that Hasbro doesn't want to make playsets and that nobody wants to buy them.

Then I get great replies like this:

That is a little defeatists!

While I'll enjoy being able to save money for the new figures and/or catch up on the Final 22, I could have sworn Hasbro already stated somewhere that the 30AC wouldn't begin shipping until March/April. Ah well, doesn't really matter now.

As someone who has never seen any of the Reeve Superman films, but wants to watch I and II, should I get the regular Superman II DVD or the Donner cut? I'm not sure if I should get both and compare them (as everyone else on the Internet seems to have done) or just get one.

Now that I've seen the first two waves packaged with this new packaging, it's not that bad. It's really growing on me.

I've yet to see any OT tins yet, but I have changed my mind on some of these. I'll pick up the AOTC and ANH tins, along with the Cantina Band set, which I have yet to see as well.

Well before the deadline was extended I think Hasbro said they'd all be mailed before December 30/31. So hopefully that remains true for all of us who barely made the deadline. I'm assuming that my check was cashed as well since I mailed it a day or two before the deadline.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Anyone been to Hawaii?
« on: December 9, 2006, 12:49 PM »
My family went to Hawaii again this past June, but we only stayed on Waikiki/Oahu. Your daughter will probably enjoy the Honolulu Zoo, although it's quite fun for everyone. You should also try going to the north of the island and all of the famous beaches, though you should get there early. Otherwise you'll either not be able to find a parking spot or you'll have to walk a ways to get to the beaches. Also, climb Diamondhead. It's a great view once you get to the top, although it is quite a hike to the top. I don't know if you or your family are up for it. Also, you may get to see the giant waves, maybe even the famous surfers who ride them.

We went to an awesome snorkeling spot, I think it was Wayamea Bay (sp?)? I can't remember for sure, but it's the crater where you have to get there early before all the parking spots fill up. The best way to get there is to take the city bus there, it's much less of a hassle, although they stop going there after a certain time so you have to watch the time.

Restaurants on Oahu. There's a place next to the Honolulu Zoo called Teddy's Better Burgers. Eat there. Best burgers and shakes I think I've ever eaten. Another great restaurant on Oahu is Keo's, it's supposed to be world famous so you might have heard of it. Thai food. Good stuff, and awesome service. Our waiter's name was Hal I think, so ask for him if you like to laugh. And then there's always Duke's Canoe Club which has pretty good food as well.

Have fun, hopefully some of this advice will pay off for you. :)

Damn, I just played this game for the first time today at school. It's awesome. Although I'm debating if I should pick it up after Christmas (where it'll probably be cheaper) or have my dad teach me to play a real guitar.

Meh? I'm just not excited for this, sorry.

Am I alone in thinking that airing this during MNF is catering to the wrong demographic?

Looks pretty good, but it'll be interesting to see how articulated he is from the waist down. I'm guessing there will be little to no articulation, but whatever.

Swivel elbows on Han? Why? They had the whole damn VOTC body already, why go through the trouble of creating new arms? Ah well, it's still a good looking figure. Looks like he's missing ankle articulation as well, meaning the sculpted new legs?

Luke looks good from the head down. I hope that either it looks much better in person or they use the VOTC/VTSC headsculpt. I'm digging it though, that holster looks awesome.

Has anyone heard the Twisted Sister Christmas album? I hear it's good?

Han - VOTC Han was a fantastic figure, and these minor changes for the gunner gear are great.

Biggs - Vandar body was the best we could have hoped for. Can't fit in the X-Wing, but he'll match up with IE Wedge and VTSC Luke.

Death Star Trooper - Fantastic. Are those Obi-Wan Pilot legs? My only complaint is that the shoulders look too round, hopefully they can fix that by shaving them down (similar to the Death Star Gunner from this year).

Rebel Guard - Looks nice, and I'll get two to be guards. Maybe the action stance is to make it appeal to kids?

Fett - SA is good, but I'm not sure what's up with the chest or second helmet.

I'll pick them all up.
