Those early bird sets can be tricky. Keep it up though, you'll get one :) A month or two after a new series comes out, stuff really jumps up in price. It goes back down a bit, after a while, but never back to the price before the new series came out. The chase Boba Fetts went down in price, but now are going back up it seems.

Hopefully carded Fett will arrive soon! :) Looks like right now, he's sitting on Lantau Island in Hong Kong

I tried to place a bid on the loose Early Bird set last night.  It was at $67.02 with 30 seconds to go.  Ended up going for $113 and some change.   :'(

Wow, that's certainly a giant jump there at the last second!  Notice the winning bidders name -  "lastminutebuys"...   ;)  I'm guessing that's probably the same set that FishEyedLouie was watching just a few days ago...  Still pretty expensive on those Early Bird sets, and it doesn't appear that it's going to be dropping any time soon...  Still looking at a solid $100 - $125 range for this set, most likely...   :-\

Best of luck in your continued search for one Padawan.  Couple other fellas 'round these parts are going to be some of your competition!   :P

Yep, I would have been one member of the competition, but having sold a smidgen of my soul to Dale, I will not need to be.  Our presumably most northern member (is  Craig on here?) is helping obtain a set.   :)

A great big Wlecome Padawan.  :)  Very nice of you to drop in. Nice little Kubrick site, must check more of it out.

Just a smidgen of your soul!

I have not seen Craig around here for almost a year.  :-\

Hey guys.  I wanted to introduce myself as well, as I am finally biting the bullet and taking DSJ's advice to get myself into this forum.

I am a mostly vintage SW collector, but have taken an interest in the Kubricks, as I find them to be really neat figures.  I picked up a set of the bounty hunters initially, and then DSJ hooked me up with a case of wave 2, so that is where I am at with them.  Eventually I would like to get an early bird kit, but I am in no rush.  I must say that I had a lot of fun opening the case of wave 2 figures - definitely an exciting process!  I was pretty surprised to find all 4 Sandtroopers with the white pauldron, and I agree with Matt on that one...seems like a strange way to pack figures.  I am not really interested in collecting every variation, so its not a big deal, but it still is weird.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi, and I look forward to participating more on this forum.   :)

Hey, welcome to the Kubrick (and JediDefender) party Matt!   8)  Nice to see you finally decided to swing by and say "hey" to the gang...  You'll fit right in here at JD, since we've got about 15 Matts now....   ::)   :P

Glad my referral to Dale worked out for you on the Kubricks.  Addicting little suckers, aren't these?  And just in case you're not up to speed on what's on tap next (and don't feel like reading through the previous 50 pages of Kubrick discussion here), we've got an Endor Luke & Leia with Speederbike, as well as a "Droids cartoon styled" R2-D2, which you may find appealing as a vintage collector.  This one's going to be tough though (read: expensive), as it's limited to only 2,004 pieces.   :-\

We're all still anxiously awaiting the news on Series 3, and taking guesses as to what we may see therein.  What would you like to see next up in a series of 6?

Oh, BTW, Adam's the President around here now (BigDumbWookiee), so when you see him, you must bow down before the sole possesor of the elusive carded Kubrick Boba Fett!   ;)

Enjoy, and it's great to have you here Matt.  Feel free to give any of us a holler if you've got any questions or thoughts on anything 'round here...

- Another Matt

Cool, thanks for the welcome y'all.  They definitely are addicting little guys, and its cool to know some other folks who enjoy them.  :)  I did read a few of the pages to catch up a bit, but thanks for posting the pictures of the Endor set and the R2...pretty cool stuff.

For my guess of what is coming in wave 3, I would wager a set of characters from the ROTJ line.  We saw a set of ESB ones in wave 1, SW ones in 2, so it seems to me that some ROTJ characters would come next.  I was thinking a Luke Jedi, Emporer, Emporer's Royal Guard, possibly Vader, maybe a Biker Scout?  Thats what comes to mind, although that seems like too many Imperial characters, so who knows.  The other possibility is a set from Jabba's palace - some aliens, and the heros with Boushh and Chewy in shackles.

I'm glad to add another Matt to the party to get things even more confusing.   ;D

So how'd you first gain interest in this line Matt #15?  Run across a Kubrick auction on eBay?  Stumble into an "Other Collectibles" forum thread on them?  Make a trip to Japan and see them?

I first gained interest in them when I saw some of the old bootleg knockoff sets that were released abroad several years ago up for sale on eBay.  Picked those up and really enjoyed them, so obviously when the official ones came out much later on, it was a natural progression...   8)

As for your guesses on Series 3, they're pretty dang close to what a lot of others here predicted/are hoping for.  Vader's a given.  Too major of a character to ignore any longer.  I'd say the same about C-3PO as well, though it'd be tough to fit him into a "themed" wave like the previous two - but I'm sure he's coming too.  I'm most excited/nervous to see what's in store for the next Chase figure(s) though.  They're kind of like a scary movie - they frighten the hell out of you, but you still have to watch/buy it!   :P

I saw the nod they made to the vintage Kenner line with the couple of carded figures they made - I believe it was only the original SW Luke and Boba Fett.  At that point I thought it was a really cool move of them, and that just drew my attention to the rest.  Someone on RS was offering a couple of the first wave for sale, and I always have loved the bounty hunter characters, so I sprung for them.  Then, I wanted to complete wave 1, and when DSJ showed me a picture of wave 2, that was it...hooked.  :)

That sounds right...maybe they'll do a 2nd Bespin wave.  That could include Vader, 3PO, maybe Lando?

I know *exactly* what you mean.  As I mentioned to Dale, opening the case of wave 2 reminded me of when I was a kid, and opening a pack of trading cards or stickers, and hoping desparately for the rarities.  8)

I was addicted to Sportscards when I was a kid so the blind box packing by Medicom probably contributes to my new disease.  If you guys think opening a case of Star Wars is fun, you should try opening a case of a series that is packed totally blind, like Matrix or Marvel.  Don't get me wrong Star Wars was a lot of fun, but you know what you are getting for sure when you open Greedo, Obi-Wan, and Tusken Raider.  Opening a case that is packed completely blind is like no other experience.  Due to the fact that the Star Wars Kubrick's are more expensive, I think it is good that you pretty much know what you are getting before you open it.

I saw the nod they made to the vintage Kenner line...

Oh yeah, I was completely brainfarting on that angle Matt.  That's exactly the praise we were singing towards this line in the earlier stages last year - the many nods to the vintage era: Early Bird set, vintage styled Boba Fett, blonde and brown haired Luke, and now the "Droids" R2-D2.  Plus, Medicom was brilliant enough to start off their regular series with the awesome complete Bounty Hunter set!  Pretty much every Star Wars fan's most desired lineup of characters, and they nailed it right off the bat.

My comment quite a while back, was that when it comes to Star Wars, Medicom just "gets it".  They understand it.  They know the history of the Saga, and it's collectibles, they know what the fans would like to see, and they know how to reel in us crazy completists with the likes of those VHTF Chase figures.  Then, they go and do something even more cool, and toss in an Indiana Jones figure into some of the Han Solo boxes.

With all the bashing some of us like to do on Hasbro, or the various other SW sub-lines, there's very little criticism (if any) that any of us can direct towards the Kubrick line.  All we can really gripe about is the obvious "not available in U.S." (expensive) and the Chase and exclusive figures are too hard to get.  The latter of which really adds to the challenge and excitement surrounding this line though, so that doesn't really count.

Good stuff!
