Just out of curiosity, If i was to offer unpainted or painted castings of very accurate curved bar pieces, would you be interrested and what would be a fair price?
-
I'm not sure... I'm pretty happy with what I've got now, but I think most people would want to see a pic first?
-
I'd entertain the idea depending on the price and accuracy of the pieces.
-
It's comming soon.
-
Are you making them Pat?
-
As we speak. 8 cm radius along the outer edge of the brim. The brim is done with all the details casted from the original strait piece. Not pics yet cause my cam is still in the shop. I got a video cam for exmass so maybe I will post scan of it on Youtube when it is done.
-
Im thinkin 20 U.S. plus shipping for two 90 degree segments.
-
Do you have a diagram of this at least? Something we can visualize.
I would be interested, more so once I see pics.
-
Here is what I got so far. Read this slowly. There might be a few run-ons but it's the only way to explain. I might use this to make a copy that I will retool to make a new master. I stilll eed to do some more sanding.
Here is the link

So far so good. Yeah, I think I'd be up for a set. I'd like to see it painted. Can't wait for the next update on this.
Good job
-
Yeah, I think it look pretty good too. Don't get me wrong, I have confidence in your work having seen it first hand, but I will be anxious to see the final product.
-
Ya but still a lot of tweeking to do. Plus I'm out of smooth on mold. It's only worth buying in bulk and thats 150 $ Canadian. The piec you see is going to be used to make a better master.
-
I'm looking for two items
#1 Some reference pics of the center piece of the Cantina bar with all the pipes and doodads. Preferably ripped straight from the DVD.
#2 Actual straight Bar pieces I need four. Willing to buy or trade
-
I know it's not actual film footage, but Stephen Hayford's work is pretty damn good - and this stuff is 10 years old!

Ya it's awesome. my dios are never as good as his but I always like to do something more acurate.
-
Or at least try
My best best is the incredible cross sections book.
Still looking for bar pieces though
-
Though excess IG-88 heads will be needed to complete the bar! ;D
-
got six of them.
-
I can clone them too
-
I'm on my fourth try. I think this will be the one. Pictures to come soon. It will be more movie accurate than the toy and I will have the center bar piece too. with out the gizmos. I can'tmake a mold for that.... or could I ? ;)

Get ready for the big revelation (within 48 hours). I will show my 5th try at the most accurate bar pieces I have ever seen. I did a lot of research with high rez and archives pics. I am just so exited it's driving my wife nuts.

Cool, I'm still very much looking forward to it!
If you can, please post this with the other parts connected to it, so we can get the whole effect.

This is what I got so far. i will get better pics after i refine the final product.

I still need to do a bit more sanding and painting.
-
So when can I buy one of these sets??
-
Well I would like to do some fine tuning and get some better pics. Once it's done i got to to make a final one or two piece mold. It was was originally made from series of small molds. Im thinking i can mass produce within a week. What do you think of it so far? I'm also thinking of a price of 40$ Canadian plus shipping. (Canadian mail should be under 15) Cross border UPS is to expenssive.
What do you all think of it so far?
-
Price could go down if I can get more interrested people
-
I'd be interested but not straight away. I am still playing catch up on last year plus this year is already coming out so............
-
I agree Stuff is just coming out to fast! I remember a dry spell up here in Canada after episode 1. It was a blessing in disguise. Sitll want to take my time on this. I'eaven gonna redo the straight center barr (piece).

Finally after 250 $, one kitcher fire and three marital counseling sessions

C'mon guys ! show me some love!
-
Good job there buddy. I'm generally not a fan of anything not made from Hasbro, but your version sure takes the "cake" or taffy for that matter :)
-
the bar pieces are modified castings of the orinal hasbro pieces.
-
They look great. It's a shame Hasbro's version didn't come out as nice.
-
Excellent job, patreektherodian!
I dig the middle section to. Need to add all of the plumbing to finalize the effect, but it looks great so far.
So are you selling a set?
-
I'm working on the plumbing and ig 88 fixtures now. I will be able to make copies of the bar pieces when I get my next batch of smooth on supplies. Not sur how i would reproduce copies of the plumbing though.
Wadya thing of the Cheers video?

Here it is again

Hey Pat, I might be needing one of these soon. I've gotten the dio bug and I gotta get my cantina a little more finished but soon.
-
let me know. my email is patreektherodian@hotmail.com
-
I've just seen this for the first time... awesome. I'm definitely interested in this as well.
-
Sorry for the poor photo but I just got some plumbing done

still needs a cleen up. I tell ya it sure is hard to find enough pics to make something look close to the original. I'm not sure if there is a canonical image since the set was built twice any way
-
Any suggestions?
-
could somebody redirect me to wher i saw upcoming figure(s) that come with a cantina round table. Did I see that within a few months ago or was it my imagination?

Legacy Wave 5 - A New Hope (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=17095.msg400288#msg400288)
See the thread for more info but it still unclear whether or not Hasbro is going to include the tables with this wave.
-
Sorry about the poor lighting of the room. Please let me know what you think.

-
Do to the lack of responces I will try to redo this presentation with step by step pictures with better light
-
Is my vid that bad?
-
That's interesting that the tealights you got fit the table casts exactly. Pretty good luck there, to add the perfect moodlighting to a Cantina diorama. The casting's a bit of a step for a lot of customizers, but the basic principle of lighting those tables is sound.
Pretty cool video Patreek, thanks for sharing that. I like when things like that light up as they should... It's inspiring me. I don't have many of those tables but I may toy with the extra one I do have and see about lighting it just because it's that simple.
Another source for LED's is hobby places often sell them by the bagfull for a low price... Sometimes tinted as well. Also Michaels has a huge variety of light sources. Seriously I scour Michaels with coupons all the time for light-sources for anything from vehicles to dioramas to stuff like you have here. They're one of my favorite places to go for that stuff. :)
-
I think its pretty awesome - not sure why I haven't seen this before. The finished tables are simply amazing. What I'm wondering is if you need to cast any part of the table or if you can just use the Hasbro table to make these? Also, is there an easy access on/off switch for these? I would love to set something like this up , but not if I had to leave it on all the time or I had to assemble/disassemble every time I wanted to show it.
Overall though, very cool looking deisgn. Thanks for sharing!
-
Thanks for taking the time for giving me feedback. The original tables will fit the tea lights. I'm working on a big project for C5 but I plan to make seats next. I'm wondering if Hasbro is coming out with some. I hope to clone them. If not I will have to sculpt my own original piece.
-
I picked up some of these cheap tea lights Patreek used for a project of my own. I'm lighting a different table. The one flaw they have is a "flickering" candlelight effect built into the LED I believe, which IIRC the Cantina tables were a constant light and things. The effect's kind of neat though for other applications. For $1 you get two lightsources with batteries, wired for you, and on/off switch... That's unto itself not a bad little deal.
They're a tad of a pain to break open, but they can be broken open.
-
So I was pissing with these a little more... I'm working on a project to do with a Turbo Tank I got for $40-ish.... and as an aside, let me just say that taking the TT apart is one major pain in the ass! :)
But anyway, I'm thinking if I can find inexpensive LED's, I think I can wire constant light ones that aren't tinted (the tealights are an orange tint and I'm wanting either a blue or white light) right into the little system these tea lights provide. The $.50 deal of a ready-made little light system is sorta kaput, but if you can find LED's cheap in bulk it's not so bad (if you plan on doing a lot of this stuff).
Hats off to Patreek for the source of cheap lights, power, etc., all wired for you though. This has a lot of applications for customizing if you use a little ingenuity.
-
That's pretty cool, Patreek! Good luck with finishing the rest of it. Can't wait to see the finished product!
-
the flickering stops if you change the LED.
-
also I got 5 clear LEDs from a 1$flash light from the dollar store. Radio shack was too expensive.
-
I am redoing my Cantina Dio and correcting my initial errors. I am melding the latest cross section book image VS movie pics and initial bluprints. There is no canonic version of the cantina because it was created in three diferent countries....I'm on a ran't. I'm trying to come to a consensus on if there are windows in the cubicles. From the outside? No. From the inside..maybe. I've heard of it being fake solar light panels simulating windows. Then there is this new 1:6 scale model of a cubicle with a window that shows a speeder outside? If I get a vote and there is interrest in this I will post pics.
-
I'm curious to see what you have going.
-
I personally feel the most "canon" layout of teh Cantina is the lifesize blue-print that exists for the large set shots they did... The best scene is the panoramic shot at the heroes entrance into the Cantina itself. It shows the basic size/shape/layout of everything (mostly).
If you're going with windows, I'd just base them on the SS 1:6 environment windows... That's just my take, but the outside of the Cantina has the least material to figure out, so it's a tough call to make I guess. I can't recall if the panoramic shot of the Cantina shows a window or not... Probably not really, since the booths seem hard to see in that show other than where they're placed.
-
Please these are inteligent replies give me your inbut because I want detail!!!
-
There is canon but the outside shots dont match the blue brints.
-
Pleasend links or pics to help me decide where I go
-
It sounds like you've done most of the research that you need to do. I'd just go through stills of the cantina....pause the dvd (or Blu Ray next month if you're willing to wait that long) at specific points you need and go from there. In the end, the only person who needs to be happy with it is you....and maybe Jesse! :D
-
Something tells me that what we see in the cubicles are fake that have "simulated" light To prefent the extreame heat from coming inside. I think that is what i am going to go with.

since my dio refect both outside and inside what do you think about my simulated windows idea?
I need to accept what Matt says about " In the end, the only person who needs to be happy with it is you....and maybe Jesse! "
-
I think the simulated windows is cool... I think if it were me, I'd go with real windows simply because I'd like the dual effect of it, but it being a simple lightsource is cool too.
