Great, now I just have to find a local TRU that actually has more than just Derlin and Bib Fortuna... :P
-
Oops my bad, sorry J I didn't realize it was TRU. Well, I'm sure it will be a pegwarmer sale then ::)
-
Man, I was hoping that was us having that sale. Hit your TRUs boys. You might get lucky.
-
The original story did say "the sale will start on the 19th" so I hope that isn't the case.
-
The sale is already going on at Amazon, on Hoth figures only, for just $4.99 each!

Man, I was hoping that was us having that sale.
I'm sure you are either way, 'cause people who keep recipts are going to do some major returning to Target I'm sure. ;)
-
I wonder if TRU is going to notice that they move a lot more product with a lower price? I checked out two stores today and people seem to be picking them up for $5 a peice and they would definately be getting more of my business if prices stayed down there.
-
Sorry for the tripple post, but this deserves a bump.
I was pleasantly surprised to walk into Target today and see that the basic figures were lowered to $5.89. ;D
-
That extra dollar sure goes a long way. I was stocked to see the same this morning. I never saw a 2 for 1 sale during ROTS but I would not mind one now.
-
same for me saw $5.89 at target :o. too bad there was nothing on the pegs. hopefully the price stays at this point, because not much point on a sale if there's nothing to buy.
-
We've had a few reports in the MN section of some Target stores dropping the price, glad to see it's a chain-wide thing.
I think we all hoped/expected that Target would come down in price after a month or two (since that is the way it went for both OTC and RotS - Target started high and price droped after a month or two to complete with Wal-Mart).
Hope it stays at $6 for a while with an occasional $5 sale here and there... ;)
-
I don't know if this is old news or new news, and I didn't see anyone report this, but I went to my local Target yesterday, and the price of the Star Wars SAGA 2 figures to $5.89. I don't know if this is a nation-wide, or if this is permanent or temporary, but you may want to check your local Target if you want to pick up the repaint or pegwarmer you've been holding off on because of the $6.99 price point.

Thanks for the tip! It's funny how a buck makes a difference... but it does! ;)
:P

YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
That's ******* awesome! I'm heading to Target right now to see if I can score some Geonosis goodness.
-
does anybody know the return policy for target? i kept a bunch of receipts for TSC stuff that i bought at $6.99, if i bring them the receipts will they give me the difference or do i have to actually bring in the product? if i have to bring the figs that sucks as i'm an opener.

Often times they will not price adjust unless the item is actually on sale in the weekly ad. I have had a few Targets that will do it, but most say no. Best you can do is try your local Target and see.
Or, if you really need to save the cash and don't care about bad karma, just go into the Target store and buy a bunch of figures at the new price and then return them with the old reciepts. You don't even have to leave the store, just head from the check-out right to the customer service desk. I know folks have done that as the "loop-hole" to sale adjustments...

I went to get my receipts price adjusted today and the lady wouldn't do the ones that were over 14 days old. Which is odd because I have gone to same one and had them do it before with no time restraints. ???
-
My store has not reduced the price on basic figs.
-
I noticed our Target has lowered the basic price to $5.89 now. That's a lot better than that $6.99 nonsense. Unfortunately, not too much there. There's been Derlin, Veers, and Rieekan clogging up the pegs for about a month now.
-
It's funny that we all know the industry well enough that we knew Target would eventually lower the price.
-
My closest is down to the low, low price of $6.49. They're insane crazy about cutbacks! Somebody stop 'em!
-
Not a price cut, but a reversal.
I've received a few e-mails from JD readers saying that their local Wal-Mart has... raised the prices? Reports are anywhere from $6.48 to $6.88 instead of the old $5.88 price. ???
That would actually be pretty funny. Target sticks it out at $7 per figure for 2 months, finally lowers the price to $5.89 to compete with Wal-Mart and now Wal-Mart is going to go the other way and raise prices? :P
Anyone noticed a price increase at their local Wal-Mart?
-
I have 4 WM's I frequent, price is 5.88$ ::)
-
Went to a Walmart here in SoCal (Pomona to be exact) and the price was 6.63.
-
I picked up AT-AT Drivers at two different Walmarts in Central CA on Sunday evening at $5.88. And I still consider that pricey.
-
Wal-Mart still has $5.88 price tags, but never have any figures, so it would be pointless for them to raise prices around here.
-
Figures were still at $6.99 at my Target today.
-
Price increase at some So Cal Walmart to $6.63 :(
-
I'm confounded at the fact that WM is raising their price. Hopefully it's a store to store or regional thing. I guess I'll find out this weekend.
-
everywhere I bet :(
Also will bet there will be a Geo stock right after it ::)
-

Price increase at some So Cal Walmart to $6.63 :(
I saw the $6.63 price myself at Wal-Mart last night too... Like I said earlier, I think it's strange that just when Target decides to price-compete, Wal-Mart goes and raises their price? Strange...
I wonder if Wal-Mart saw how fast they are selling the figures this year so now they are playing "supply and demand" with us?
Or maybe they know the Bounty Hunt chase figures are coming in the next wave, so up goes the price? :-X
-
I hate retail...
**** like this is just all the more reason to go to E-Tailers simply out of spite and anger. Sucks for those of us who customize or army build though. :( That's the only downside.
If I did one of every figure though, I'd hands down be ordering figures online exclusively and just completely avoiding the big retailers. Whatever their half-assed reasoning for a price increase, it's a screwjob to us. I've heard so many theories why things aren't shipping and prices are flying up and down monthly. You'd think Hasbro had become an oil producer. :)
-
Or maybe they know the Bounty Hunt chase figures are coming in the next wave, so up goes the price? :-X
Conspiracy theorist! Lock 'im up.
-
I think they are doing it because they can. They have tested the market and have seen that we will pay whatever price for whatever hits the shelves.
You, me and someone might not pay the prices but most people do and so do moms and grandmas. Heck I did not buy a single figure in TSC at 6.99 (I was also out of the country) and waited until the TRU 4.99 sale to get all my figures from the 1st 2 waves but my wife has bought me several figures at 6.99.
People are going to pay and that is the bottom line.
-
I dunno about that... At $6.99 my local TRU's had literally a wall of Carkoon Wave at one store, HOth at another. I mean, dozens. The one-pers like Fett I saw at least a dozen of at my one TRU... And they sat, and sat, and sat... And this is one of the higher traffic stores in the area too right outside the city limits.
The $5 sale hit though, and that same store is down to only having Bib and Leia, and of the two there are only like a dozen total figures on the pegs. When the sale ended, so did the sales for TSC at our local TRU's. I'/ve been back and the same figures are sitting there, as well as Hoth Wave that restocked. The only thing missing from the Hoth Wave restocks I can tell are the one-pers like Vader and the Gonk. Veers, Derlin, Rieekan, Snowtrooper, and AT-AT Driver are all there though and not moving now.
Target is the same way. They dropped their price and all the Hoth and Carkoon remnants finally moved... Wal-Mart's been moving stuff steadily though Bib defies all theories and lingers like a fart in a car because he sucks.
I think when stores kick up prices there has been a noticeable difference in how those stores sell. It happens with other lines where a store like KB or KM has stuff you can't find elsewhere simply because their price is always higher. I know the "final 12" could only be found lingering at K-Mart around my area while they blew out at WM due to the $5-ish price.
Some of them actually sat here at KM though, like Passel Argente, the Grievous Guard repaint and the Neimoidian.
I also question how many parents are still buying Star Wars right now... People say it's good to mix in main characters, etc., for the kids, and I don't necessarilly disagree with the notion, but at the same time when anything is one-per-case it moves simply because people want a full set (especially with the spiffier collector-focused packaging like OTC/TSC have had). So are parents really out buying $7 for their kids en masse like they bought last year, or is it more that the "repacks" that are "for kids" are actually in most cases packed one-per-case and are getting the hardcore collectors to buy them?
I know my local clique is going ape**** trying to get both 3PO's from the Geo wave, the Vader (and some variant) from the Hoth Wave, and Fett from the Carkoon Wave plus his stand positioning variant...
Not to mention the holographic figure variants people want specifically.
Personally I think the way nothing is out there to be found, that people are moving on that Hasbro claims to have the line focused on. I know I see a lot less people looking over Star Wars these days... Less kids already. I know the kids I buy for are quickly losing interest. ONe moved onto lego already because they seem to have their heads out of their asses and are able to put stuff out everyone can find easily without gimmicks and such.
The other is holding on, but considering I know my local buds need Jango and that's who he's desperately wanting to find, well at one-per-case I'm not hopeful of picking him up one unless I get the original Saga Jango on the cheap at the toy show this weekend for him... TSC Jango's gonna be tough to find for a long time unless he suddenly gets packed heavier, and I doubt its kids getting him.
-
went to 9 Targets yesterday price is now 6.99 >:(
-
Jesus, nine Targets!?
Either way, this is the craziest thing I've seen in a while in regards to price competitiveness....
WM comes out of the gate at $5.88 and Target sits at $6.99. Target literally sits on $7 figures so they lower their price (for a week) to $5.89.
For some reason (I can't quite figure it out yet) WM actually raises their price to $6.63.
Target, again, follows suit and goes back to $6.99.
This backwards pricing game will be the end of SW at brick and mortar locations. So many people are ordering online it's not even funny.
We're all going to get screwed in the end though - word has it that the online retailers are going to get the shaft from Hasbro in regards to case allotments in order to fulfill the mass retailers (like the pegs will be dry at $6.99).... ::)
-
I can't remember a year where they jumped this much either(where they jump back and forth at over a dollar to 2 dollar value). I can understand holiday season, clearance time ect. Not at this time. If it were true they raise price to accomodate TH assortments coming - that would be dumb. Still, as long as stores keep getting infrequent, low case amount refresher shipments I don't see any thing but the usual suspect pegwarmers on the shelves and nothing sitting..even with a higher price tag.
-
The price increases are a serious deterrent to me personally. I went in to 2006 burnt out on 3 3/4 due to the massive push of figures for ROTS and the daunting list of product for 2006. I saw that Carkoon wave and laughed, thinking I would save a bundle by not buying garbage like that. Then the Hoth and Geonosis waves hit, the prices went down, and I found myself really like the Saga line. The figures had gotten better, the packaging is excellent, and holds up better for collecting carded. I even began entertaining notions of going back and picking up carkoon to have a full set carded like the OTC line.
But 6.99 and difficulty finding product will kill that notion faster than a 3 foot drunk in a teddy bear costume can kill a well trained, genetically engineered soldier (oh wait, R2 is the drinker, never mind).
I have cases on order as well, and if those come through without a hitch, I may go back and fill in the few holes. But if the cases get cancelled, and my only option is 7.00 and running all over town, I will go back to being burnt out in a hurry.
I have 7 saga AT-AT drivers, and 4 Veers. I did not, and would not, buy them at 6.99. The last one was 6.63, and that will be the last one I buy at that price as well. Seven dollar figures kills the army-builder spirit in me.
-
well..lemme know if you change your mind and need a boba carkoon!
-

That gets my vote for Metaphor of the Year. (http://cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/froehlich/a023.gif)

I have to state that I hunt very successfully (usually) and can find what I want. However, the hunt this year is getting old. I have the Cody wave on order with NewForce (if I don't find em before then) and I have 1 R5 D4 on order with BBTS (and I don't mind paying extra for it). Other than needing 2 Cody, 1 Firefighter, 1 Foul, 1 Obi and Anakin for my son, and 1 R4 D4 I don't really see that I want any figures other than the VOTC. So because of that, and because of prices and gas prices, my days of active hunting are over I believe. That and I am backing off on this line after Cody. That's alot of business lost for them since I hunt for myself and about 6 to 8 others.
-
Our local WM's raised their prices as well. I kind of thought it might not happen around here, but I was wrong. Luckily, I got almost evrything I need at the lower prices. I paid WM prices for two figures yesterday, now I only need/want one more, so I think I can handle buying one at $7.
-
Since our WM stores have literally nothing on the pegs, nothing has changed either, but our Target stores are $5.89 yet. I'm happy with that.
-
I found a few figure at WM this morning, and they rang up $6.63, so it looks like the price jump is here as well.
-

It's weird as the roles have reversed in my area.
Being that WM raised their prices and Target is still less than $6, the Target pegs are dry and WM is full of Carkoon / Hoth waves!
Toys R Us is well, Toys R Us.
Tons of falcons and a few Carkoon figures...
-
Toys R Us is well, Toys R Us.
Tons of falcons and a few Carkoon figures...
Yeah, that place has been a Millenium Falcon Warehouse since 1995 with no break.
My TRU actually just expanded the SW section from 3 pegs to 12 in the new planogram, which shocked the hell out of me. Guess they'll be receiving something soon. That store is so bad at what they do, it's nothing close to funny.
-
TRU is funny...
They did the $4.99 sale a while back. My local stores had literally dozens upon dozens of every Carkoon Wave figure and that sale lasted a week IIRC. So the sale comes... Almost immediately, the stores were selling out of their literal wall of Carkoon wave. Some were getting in Hoth, some Geo, some more Carkoon or a mix of the 3...
Week ends... Sale ends... Pegs have remained stagnant at whatever they had left at that point. Mostly Hoth and Carkoon remnants with the odd Poggle here and there.
Price goes down to $4.99, TRU sells through product like Indian food goes through the human colon... Prices go back up to $6.99 and figures stop selling...
Now, if someone with a half an oz. of intellect at the corporate HQ actually sat on his/her fat ass and looked at the facts, obviously dropping price a $1 or more would be a big help... It's the same at other stores too. One Target near me has $6.99 figures, and they're sitting... One has $5.89 figures and they're moving fast with few pegwarmers (a couple, not many)...
I'd comment on Wal-Mart, but I hit 2 tonight, and 3 other ones in the past week or so and there's no peg for figures at any of the 5 I visited. They have Titanium pegs, pegs for other crap, but no basic figure pegs to speak of.
I hate Wal-Mart with a passion, seriously. I hate the other two, but Wal-Mart takes the cake by far. :)
At least K-Mart and Kay-Bee always dick you over and dont' blow smoke up your ass about it. The other 3 though are just doing it to jerk people around and see how much they can get away with after years of being reasonably acceptable places tod eal with.
-
I don't shop at WM for figs anymore. Or for anything, really, but if I can't find it at Target, I don't buy it. TRU is decent lately, but at $7, I'd only go for figs I REALLY want, and I always find them at Target, like I did Cody today.
-
I, personally, only go for figures. I tend to do my necessities shopping at the stores actually close to my place to show support for them. Plus they're cleaner anyway than any WM I've been in.
The WM near my girl's place she shops at all the time... Blah. I go for figures though, that's all I try to get there... Well, video games too, but to me I only buy games when they're cheap anyway. ;) Whoever has it for $20 or less i buy it.
-

It's true that part of TRU's problem is the price tag on their stuff. But the bigger problem in my area is that TRU hardly ever has anything on the pegs and shelves. If you're not going to properly stock the hottest action figure line, what the hell do you think will sell?
-
Yes, price does suck when it gets over $6 per figure. I don't know how many Sun Fac's I've passed up at $6.99 but might have bought several more at $5 or $6. Definitely at $5 I would want at least a dozen of him.
But when it comes to stuff I really want, selection is what matters most to me. I'd buy several more orange clones at $6.99 if they'd have them in stock anywhere.
:P
-
Pegs read $6.64 tonight at a local MN Target. 1 entire cent more than Wal-Mart. Can't get any better/worse I suppose. Twas nice to have a price cut for at least a few weeks. WM still sucks monkey balls in my opinion.
-
I disagree...I get about 90% of my SW goods from WM. It seems it's still Sw in the end wherever you buy it...sure, prices vary but I work daily so I just can't beat the competitions in the mornings/afternoons at target-which leaves getting Wm stuff at night. I'm a big enough boy to brave past the crack whores to get to the toy section- I mean..what do I care? I'm going for Sw anyway/not for the scenery. What do I know though..I don't really get much stuff. ;)
The scenery IS nicer at target though..even if she looks better than the empty hands I leave the store with :-X ;)
-

No doubt Dressel...
I can't find squat at any Wal-Mart near me. Even the lone Bib that sat at the one is gone and has been for a month.
Target is getting things in sporatically (no huge finds around here though) and the lower priced stores are moving them... The higher priced store has backed up with Hoth figures.... All Targets near me have a number of Hoth Vaders though, which goes to show that Vader isn't the boner figure Hasbro SHOULD be pushing on repack lists IMO.
TRU has been getting stuff, but they get one big ass cluster of figures, then nothing. Right now, theyr'e getting nothing new that I've seen. They had gotten Geo wave in and things at a number of TRU's, but once the sale ended they'd moved through what they had for the most part... Now they have (at most local TRU's) Carkoon wave pegwarmers that ain't going anywhere for $6.99 and I'd say maybe 2 Pittsburgh TRU's that I can think of have some Hoth Wave remnants (Veers, Rieekan, etc.) for $6.99.
Would I buy Veers for $4.99? Sure... But for a figure I'm gonna butcher I refuse to shell out $7. It's dumb out there in the stores right now.
-
I have been surprised at my own reaction to the price differences. At 5.50 I was ready to put together a complete 2006 carded collection. At 6.50 or higher, I have almost no interest. I can't justify going back to add Bib and some of the other poop-in-plastic at those prices. It's too bad, I really like what they have done with the cardbacks, and most of the figures are well chosen and fairly well done.
-
I disagree...I get about 90% of my SW goods from WM.
I've received maybe 10% (if that even) of my collection from MN Wal-Marts. They just suck for SW hunting flat out - ask most of the MN crew. Guess it all depends on what part of the country you live in. :-\ Must be nice to have both a Target and a WM to look for new figs.
End
-
Since before ROTS WMs around here have sucked. I rarely goo there anymore because I know there is nothing there. I have no idea why this is the case but TRU has been better.
Although I am going there today to check out the crack whores in the toy section, I miss those last time :P

As a fellow 'Sotan, I agree with you. I don't think I've bought a figure from WM in ages. Usually at TRU or Targets... but then again, there's millions of Targets in Targetland and very few Wally Worlds actually within 15 miles of the Twin Cities.
-

Same here. My Targets are now selling basic figs for $6.63, the same price as Wal-Mart.
-
My store raised their price on basic figs to $6.64 (or something close to that) just the other day. Figures, we had just gotten 3 cases in Wednesday (that crappy 2.5 case) and I could have gotten some figs cheaper. I nearly picked up 2 more Utapau Clones, but passed. I wish I'd grabbed them now.
-
Walmarts all around here are charging 6.63, Targets went from 6.99 to 5.89 straight back to 6.99 the minute walmart raised theirs.
One Target I went to charged 7.29 ::)
-
Since Wal-Mart is charging $6.63 now, I noticed that our local Target is back up to $6.64 now. They were down around $5.89, after being at $6.99 for awhile, so I guess it is still a little lower. For some reason that little difference makes buying extras (or even singles) a little more painful :).
-
Shall I start a rumor?
Ok, " I hear from an undisclosed, inside source that a major retailer is getting ready to lower SW basic figures prices to $5.40 :o"
Oh Wait....I was supposed to post that 2 days from now :P :-X
-
One local Target had been $6.99 while others were $5.89. Then the others upped thier (up their's is right) to match, then last night I dropped by that first one and they were lowered to $6.49.
-
Jon, I hope you're right... Of course, around me the only retailer with anything is Target and they JUST put their prices up at almost all (only one is below $6 yet), so I'm not hopeful for my area.
WM would have to get figures first to actually have a price to fluctuate. :) I'm in awe that almost all of you have WM's selling figures, and Pittsburgh WM's don't have pegs for them... I'm dead serious. I don't know what happened.

Ahh, the days of shopping at WM and actually being able to find new SW figs. I'd have to say for me, a freak encounter with the Hoth wave was the last that I found. Prior to that was back when I found the E2 preview figs.
I hope that WM pulls a price cut, maybe that's what's been holding them off from putting new stock out? At least here in the Twin Cities area.

From YodasNews, TRU will be having a Buy 2, Get 1 Free sale on all SW stuff from April 9 to 15th.
-
Worth picking up Hoth Customizing fodder... Little else.
Oh, well maybe worth picking up VOTC Lando's too. :)
-
Target by me price cut back to $5.89 after raising them the week before to $6.64. ???
-
Well, the TRU sale might benefit us at the brick and mortar locations, but if you choose the online option, you'll still be paying $6 a figure even with the free figure factored in!
Jeez, $8.99 a figure....
-
Targets around here have stuck with $5.89 for awhile while Wal-Mart has raised their prices to $6.63.
-
Cool deal on the TRU add...that comes out to what, $14.00 for 3 figures? That is better than the $4.99 sale a few weeks back. Lets hope they stock!!!
-
Lets hope they stock!!!
This is the type of promotion my TRU puts up then 'stocks' a wave that's 1-2 months old and puts out 1 case of it. Just to get you in they're (dying corporation) store. ::)
-
Well it's my B-Day this weekend. So, maybe I can persuade the wife to buy me some SW figures at Toys R Us.
-
KB is raising their basic figure pirce to $8.99.
-
I checked out TRU this morning in my area, and they actually had stocked with about three cases of the soon-to-be-legendary-for-all-the-wrong-reasons Hoth/Geo/Carkoon refresh waves. I picked up a Jango for my cousin's birthday, an Utapau Clone for someone here, and a Scorch to use as Cody bait, but the best part (aside from the 16 dollar price total) was the other Scorches and Utapau Clone were bought by two little kids with their father and the kids were smiling ear to ear.
I think it's the first time I've seen kids be excited about figures in a long time. One kid got Scorch (he's from that game (older brother) has dad!), an Utapau Clone, and an old ROTS Tank Gunner that was laying on the floor; the other kid got Jango, an Utapau Clone, and the other Scorch. And Hasbro thinks kids don't want Clones. ::)
-
And Hasbro thinks kids don't want Clones. ::)
I don't get that either. I know for a fact that I've seen several kids here in Indy go nuts when they find Clone Troopers in a store.
-
KB is raising their basic figure pirce to $8.99.
And that is going to kill they're sales even more. Why don't they just round it off to 10 bucks? ::)
-
I wish my TRU had more **** in stock for the BTGO sale. I don't think anyone wants to buy 2 Rieekans to get a free Derlin. ::)
-
Target in Marquette, MI has their figures at $5.83 and Kmart has a sale on them this week 2 for $10.00.
-
Kmart here is doing the same thing. Plus I'm seeing more pegwarmers at WM due to their price hike on the SAGA figures.
-
Target lowered their prices from $6.99 to $6.64 at my Targets...
-
In my area, Target is all there is to pick from and they're $6.64... WM's mostly don't even have pegs, and those that do are over $6. KM has nothing...
KB is $6.99... TRU $6.99...
-
This isn't a price cut, but I've noticed lately (I think its been this way for awhile) that Amazon is charging $8.99 per each basic figure. I guess by that comparison, the VTSC figures aren't too badly priced. I hope we don't continue to see prices raise until retail stores are charging near or at $8-$9 for basic figures. If so, they need to release a lot fewer figures per year, or people (at least people like me) won't be able to keep up with this. $9 a figure? Yikes.
-
I noticed that too. I guess Amazon realized that they do have a market online for people that cannot go to stores for whatever reasons.
-
Price increases are a fact of life. Oil is used for plastic an such. 7 bucks is too high.
TRU 7, Target 7, Walmart 6.5 how can Hasbro lower the price?
Here is my suggestion, I would see the lame a@s holo figure and stand with the tampoed name on it be put back into the articulation or lower the price by giving them the boot! ;D
I have 3 complete sets of the dumb holo dudes. I dont want them in red! At least make more characters, C3P0 or R2.
Red...blah! :-X
-
I guess this is as good a place as any -
It's not a 2006 Saga item, but if anyone is still looking for the TRU Exclusive Falcon, it's on half-price clearance at Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009F3ERW/wwwjedidefend-20/) - just $24.98 plus shipping!
-
OK..What The F?
I've never seen prices flop around as much as this year....
Just found out from Darth Gamboa..that in Santa Clarita California Their Super WM just lowered all basic to just 5$..yes, $5.00 each!!!! Well, they had 10 full pegs of coruscant last week..he now says their half empty--go figure ;).
Too early to tell if this is a store, regional or national thing though.

Yeah it has been a really strange year. Our Target in Fort Collins has been at $5.89 for awhile now, the Super Wal-Mart in town is at $6.63, and the other Wal-Mart in town is at $5.24. Which is really weird because it is usually the Super that is cheaper, if there is a difference.
-
I wish they would go cheaper...all this clone hunting is destroying my wallet. :P
-

Yeah Jon, I can go figure on that one. :)
When Toys R Us did their sale here a few weeks back the stores had WALLS of figures. Every TRU I went to had a healthy supply of the first 3 waves. I went at the start of the week to see what I could find on the sale then knowing they were stocked pretty well. I got a good dose of Hoth stuff for cheap at that store, but couldn't get around again till the end of the week... I hit 3 TRU's the end of the week then, and all 3 were devoid of figures though 2 weeks prior they were all heavily stocked.
I'm amazed how stuff can really "sit" at $7-ish but at $5 you see stuff fly out the door, seriously. It's a huge difference... I hope WM's do this nationally and we see Target follow suit, and HOPEFULLY TRU gets the hint too.
KB and KM I expect nothing positive from of course.
-
I just got Ask Yoda $14.99 at TRU.
They had plenty and he is on clearence!
A great crappy SW toy to hold you over until a new wave comes out!
-
Anyone seeing new prices which are ridiculous? My Store has bumped up basic figs to 6.88.
-
Anyone seeing new prices which are ridiculous? My Store has bumped up basic figs to 6.88.
Seems to be the case in Chicagoland....
Basic figures
TRU $6.99
WalMart $6.86
Target $6.99
-
Our Wal-Mart hasn't had their basic SW pegs labeled for awhile now, and I haven't bought anything there since they've had all Geo bugs for awhile now, so I'm not sure what their price is. Last time I bought something they were $6.63 I believe though. I picked up a Cody at Target this week and they were priced at $6.64. Toys R Us is currently at $6.99 ($8.99 online!). Yeah, the price hikes are already getting old. Pretty soon the VTSC won't be looking too highly priced :P.
-
For anyone who isn't aware, KB is running a 3 for 2 sale on basic figures until he 26th of June.
-
Has anyone seen the Demise of Grievous lowered yet? They have been peg warming around here for a month...i got burnt buying the crappy lava reflection Duel figs for $14 only to see them blown out at less than half that...I don;t want a grievous covered in macaroni bad enough to pay full price...they give us overpriced crap, I ain't buyin'!
-
I just took mine back with the hopes of getting out to get clearanced for the same reason. The figure's not worth $14 by a long shot. Evne if I missed out on it, I think I'd just deal with it because that thing felt like wallet rape.
The KB sale is a good one Anton, and a good reminder... We had it on our front page here at JediDefender.com actually, but I don't know how many folks took advantage of it. I know some local buds did, but by the time I ever got to a KB Toys there wasn't anything left really to buy but POggles. I was disappointed as I had hoped to maybe get a Veers on the cheap, some Sun Fac's maybe, or GOnks even... Stuff like that's worth $4 or $5 bones to me for customs fodder and army building, but not for $7 or more. :(
-
I returned one of my 2 Grevious Demises after seeing how they are rotting. iIopened one and he is not worh $14. They could have at least thrown in a hologram and base. Its pretty rude that the standard figures have more than this "High end" figure...who is a semi rehash to begin with.
The Senate packs are rotting too. I will wait until they are in the clearence isle to get more pods/shocktroopers
.
As I said in other threads lots o rehashes, less articulation and price increases...not the ideal formula for fun. :P
-
Found the VTSC on clearance for $10 and the SATS BP for $16 at a local MN Target tonight. Didn't buy any though as I already paid full price for what I needed.
-
Same here, these figures are just about 15% off regular price right now at my local Targets.
:)
-
Didn't know if this should go in the Mission Log Section or this one, so if its in the wrong section, Mods please move it.
During my weeking toy run, I stopped by a couple of Targets. And at one of them I found the new Star Wars Vintage Figures and the Skirmish in the Senate Battle Pack on Clearance. The VTSC figures were 8 bucks and the Battle Pack was 13 bucks. Needless to say I picked up a few of each. :)
-
I moved ya in here Phalanx, since this is where we're keeping all the price fluctuation stuff.
Good score, especially on the battlepack. I'd nab some Sandpeople on the cheap at that $8 price too I think, though that's not as good a cut as the battlepack. $13 for the set is pretty great really when you can unload the Senate POds if you don't want them fairly easily for a fair price.
-
According to a report by Yodafan2, Our local targets have VTSC for 15% off. Thats great. Gone from 11.99 to like 10 bucks or something, its great. I'm definately gonna hit up my target this week.
-
I saw some of the clearances last night locally and they weren't spectacular. VTSC down $1 about, Demise of Grievous was about the same, and the Senate packs were only down about $3.
-
I haven't been to Target since I got my Skirmish set,I may need to ckeck.
-
Not sure where to put this, but I thought this might be the best spot since they have TSC items available.
From TFormers.com...
Use this Promo Code: "COMIC2006" at HasbroToyShop.com at checkout and save 10% off your purchase. Offer expires August 13, 2006.
I merged ya in with this thread Jason, it just seemed appropriate to me at the time I guess.
-
How about 50% off for all the people who couldn't get through their lame-ass system this morning.
(Thanks for sharing that though).
-
Apparently Target pulled a toy section wide clearance yesterday, and from all the reports around here, toy hounds were filling up multiple carts of all lines. VTSC dissappeared along with Demise of General G for around the 3.98 price. They didn't drop all the prices at once, so while the Skirmish Battle Packs scanned for 13.98 at midday, I was able to score 4 for $4.98 by late afternoon.
-
I picked up a couple of skirmish packs for $4.98 as well. Awesome price.
-
I'm rolling past Target tomorrow but due to it being near the show I'm going to, I doubt anything is left. I'm sure I'll see these packs with the clearance stickers on them at the show for twice what their original retail was...
There's always a handful of dealers there who seem to have the same business sense as the kid who ate paste in school.
-
I had been haunting two targets all week, waiting for them to drop from 30% to 50% off. Then BANG! They hit 75% off and move faster than a scalded dog. I'm hoping to find a local JD'er with a cheap DOGG, and Matt (aka Jedimoses) hooked a number of us Minnesota types up with 7.50 Skirmish packs.
Target can be a pain at times, but they don't let crap linger like TRU and Wally.
-
Yeah same thing happened at mine, and because of that, I missed it. I wasnt hter that day, and everything was gone :'(
-
I must have missed the clearances at our store as well. I was there on Wednesday, and they were just starting to reset (the main toy aisles hadn't been touched yet, and the VTSC/DOGG/SITS were all priced pretty much full still). I went back on Friday, and there was a lone Grievous figure for $3.24. I was really hoping I could pick up some VTSC extras for cheap, I held off on getting an extra Greedo for just that reason. I would have grabbed some of the others too if they were available. I guess our WM still has TONS of them at full price if I really need more. Kind of nice to see the reset though, Target really seems to have a good amount of space dedicated to Star Wars.
-
Super WalMart in Santa Clarita in SOCAL is STILL selling TSC basic for 5$!!! I love it! DS gunners for 5$; can't beat it! ;D
-
TRU has a 20% off red tag sale and they lowered a few things. The gobs of Lando are now 4.98, the 12" ROTS figs are 12.98 and the Saga DVD Trivial Pursuit is 19.98. They also lowered the kiddie lines but I do not recall.
-
Just an FYI that the Heroes and Villains / Greatest Battles figures are on sale at TRU this week...
-
Now if I could only find anything beside bugs, yoda's, & 3po/battledroids I might remotely be intrested in this. ::)
-
I used the ad (grab one on your way in the store guys, don't forget) at Wal-Mart tonight to get a couple Sandtroopers I found for a little less. Worth it to me I guess....
Haven't tried Target and doubt they would take it, but K-Mart WILL pricematch (or they did last year I found) so I may hit a couple of the KM's around me and see what floats to the surface I guess.
-
A new Target opened up in my area. Basic figures were $7.64. >:( GB and H&V were still $6.99. ???
-
A new Target opened up in my area. Basic figures were $7.64. >:( GB and H&V were still $6.99. ???
Yeeeeouch!! My bum just puckered.
-
If Target is jacking it up over $7, **** them. I officially will NOT be buying basics at that store if that's the case. That or Hasbro had better put out figures of a quality level they've yet to acheive.
Target can suck it hard and long if that's the route they plan on taking. THe price increases this year have been probably a tied gripe with the decrease in articulation overall as far as I'm concerned. Further increases are f'n ridiculous.
Every toy line out there IS NOT increasing in price, except Star Wars... bull****.
-
It seems like it's only NEW stores that debuted at that price as I haven't seen the $7.64 price at any of the other local Target stores (just the new ones that opened in October).
I'm hoping it's just a glitch in the computer or something because when the last batch of stores opened (in July), the figures were priced @ $6.49 for the new stores ("New Store Special"). Doesn't make any sense that this time, 3 months later, the figs debued @ $1 more than the old stores? :-\
-
When I was at Local Wal-Mart Number One this morning, I noticed that they had one of those "aisle endcap" things (not the whole endcap, but the things that hang on the sides of the endcap with actual pegs) filled with MORE Greatest Battles figures, and the price marked above the 10 pegs filled to the brim with more Threepios and Padmes and (strangely enough) a rather sizeable amount of Shocktroopers was $7.59. I thought this was a little odd, since the regular section had the price at 6.62 (which is what it's been for months now), so I scanned a GB Threepio (plenty to go around) and sure enough, it was $7.59.
If this is a fluke occurrence, then that's one thing; if figures are, across the board, going up to over 7 bucks (Episode I figures didn't even get that high), then I think we can kiss the line goodbye in the next year or so if Hasbro doesn't make a conscious effort to increase quality over quantity.
Half an aisle down you can still get the much more articulated Marvel Legends figures which often include those "Build a Character" pack-in parts and a comic book for the price of a SW figure. But I guess now that Hasbro's doing those as well, we can expect to see 1000 Wolverines and Spider-Mans with "awesome 12 points of articulation" and no pack-in build-a-characters. :-\
-
Wow, Target doing it is one thing - but to have both retailers on board with a near $1.00 increase is very bad news.
A lot of us were/are at the point of 'getting out.' This is not a good thing.

Well the H&V and GB figures are a seperate SKU and have consistently been more expensive than the basic line at Target and Wal-Mart, so Dr. P's report is not completely indicative of what will happen to the basic line, yet. The local Walmart near me did increase the price of the basic line figures to $5.70, while GB figs remain $6.62. Not sure what the future will bring, but I have observed that prices at Target and Walmart are not consistent region by region, or even within the same region. In the last couple months I've seen prices at Targets in Chicagoland range from $5.00 to $6.89 for basic figures, ironically the cheaper prices were found in the more "well to do" suburbs while the higher prices could be found in stores within the city limits.
I agree though if we start seeing basic figures going for over $7 it's going to be a bad day for kids, collectors, big box retailers, and Hasbro alike. I stopped buying figures from TRU and KB because they hit the $7 mark, if Target & Walmart join in on a regular basis people are going to have think harder about buying every fig or multiples of figs. On the flipside though, if my experiences this past year have shown, Target and Walmart will see their prices go up and down throughout the year so it just may be a matter of wait and see. :-\
-
A dollar increase especially hurts when the upcoming figures are all repaints.
-
I don't plan on collecting as much as I did in the past. This just seals it if it stays at almost 8 bucks a figure. I dont understand why Target changes the prices of their Star Wars figures and never on any other type of action figure.
-
Hit you with a higher price now, lower it for the 4th quarter volume and gift buying and make you think you are getting a break. Gotta love the retail business plan.
-
In South NJ and Chicagoland its the H&V at a dollar more. what does not make sense to me is that is paid for tooling so it should be a $1 less. I have not bought one single HV or GB. Whats the point been there done that. I saw a Mom complain about how she had 2 SW figures and they rang up different. Its just oplain dumb and only hurts in the long run.
-
I saw a Mom complain about how she had 2 SW figures and they rang up different. Its just oplain dumb and only hurts in the long run.
Good point. We often lose sight of the fact that we aren't the only ones buying figures.
Imagine the confusion that parents and casual collectors endure when they purchase an Episode III Clone and a Episode IV Sandtrooper at the same time....
-
If $8 is to become the norm across the boards and into the 30AN line, then I'm finished with Hasbro's 1:18th offerings, wholesale. I nearly got out at the begining of this year with the post-ROTS price increase, but this...this is just absurd.
Who's responsible for this increase? Is Hasbro at fault, or is retail?
-
It's retail. Hasbro has repeatedly said that they don't set the prices and that retail does. I believe them on that aspect. We've seen Target and Walmart play tag with their Star Wars prices. Its really obsurd to pay more than 5 dollars for these figures.
-
MJ - I don't know of any retail situation where they would prices just because they think they can get away with it.
More often than not, retail prices are raised because of an increase in their wholesale cost.
Just my opinion, based on my experience(s).
-
Well, this is the week of the reset. If Target was poised to raise prices, I think it would have started today.
-
Pamida stores have raised their prices to $9.99 for basic Saga figures - let me know if you need any Hoth Vaders...
VTSC are still $14.99.
-
Amazon has some Naboo a dollar cheaper than KB's site did the other day. I just ordered a few.
-
TRU is running a sale now when you spend $20 on SW merchandise you get a action figure FREE. Sale expires 10/28/06. Might be a good opportunity to stock up on army builders, a vehicle you might have been holding out on.
-
I went to Wal-Mart last night and found that all the basic TSC figures were marked down to $5. It's not a sale or clearance or anything. That's just the new price, apparantly.
-

It really varies from store to store though. We have one Wal-Mart up here that has been at $5.66 or cheaper for awhile now, but every other store is at $6.63.
Hopefully that $5 trend will spread to other Wal-Marts. If rumors of $8 figures are indeed true, I'm done with the line.

I'll have to go to TRU this week! :D
-
I snagged the TRU Tie Fighter and another Sandtrooper doing that. If they have the tins, I'll snag another Sandtrooper or hopefully an Endor Trooper...

Some early Black Friday Shopping Rumors (http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/Sales/Store/all/Category/all/Rebates/yes/EarlyBirds/yes/Page/5)!
Looks like K-Mart will be offering "Buy One, Get One Free" on all Star Wars basic figures.... I'd be more excited but since my local K-Mart usually only has 2-4 figures, I'm not holding my breath! ;)
-

That's not a bad deal, but none of the three TRU's on my side of the valley here ever have anything but GB figs.
-
lightsabers and vehicles on sale @ target

My Kmart still has Mas Amedda and TSC Leia in Boushh figures on the pegs. Looks like its a no go for me either :-\
-
my kmart sucked and just got bulldozed. :D
-
I just got some End-Boo at K-Mart the other day... In the NorthEast the plague that is Wal-Mart hasn't taken over every town in the area so KM still has footholds in small towns usually. I've got 2 within 20 minutes or so of each other, and on Black Friday last year I hit the jackpot with the final waves of figures. Without that I'd have been trading to get what I wanted as most stores didn't stock the final waves of figures.
I will go out to see what I can dredge up at KM that day then I'm heading home unless some of these other stores step up with a good sale. I may make a WM trek and take a flyer to see what I can get them to do since they've got tons of good stuff that I just don't wanna pay $7 for.
-
I didn't know where else to put this, so here it is.
TIER06 for 20% off, expires 11-19-06.
-
Where is it for though? Hasbro?
-
It's for HTS. The title of the post reads "New promo code for HTS." :)
-
Target is apparently having a "sale" this week on SW stuff. Basic figures were down to the "low" price of 6.24, with Unleashed BPs at 8 dollars and change. Also seemingly included were the Unleashed Hoth Deluxe sets, the ever-present Titanium Bossks and Sandtroopers, and the Assault Vehicle assortment.
Not included in this sale (at least at my local Target) were the Kit Fisto Snot Rocket, the Snowspeeder (even though there weren't any there to begin with), and the role-play lightsabers (which are now almost all of the spring-action variety).
And I counted while I was there too, and there were 10 non-H&V/GB figures on the pegs, with that count being 5 Hem Dazons, 2 Lushros Dofines, and 1 each of Chewie in Chains, Endor Threepio, and Garindan. Plus the 100 or so H&V/GB figures. ::)
-
It's for HTS. The title of the post reads "New promo code for HTS." :)
D'oh! :) Sorry, I just caught that when I was scrolling through the thread now, that you changed it.
That's not a bad thing if you're beefing up the armies some.
-
I could swear basic figures were on sale for $5.29 at my Local Target. This would be a much better sale price that 10% or a $1 off.
EDIT: I was wrong, figs are on sale for $5.98.
-
Today(this morning) at a Target in Northern Cally I found
Unleashed for 4.98 :o
Basic, GB for 5.98 ::)..at that "sale" price those repacks will be there throughout the winter :(
-
Yeah, I bought another Gonk and Treadwell from the Hoth wave that they had there again for $5.98 today. It was nice to see a "5" in the price of a basic figure at least ::)
-
I've been posting these to the front page over the last 2-3 weeks, but I thought I'd summarize here in the forums for ease...
EBGames:
Star Wars Battlefront for Xbox (used) $9.99
GameStop:
Star Wars Battlefront for Xbox (used) $9.99
KB Toys:
All Action Figures (including Star Wars) "Buy Two, Get One Free"
KMart:
Star Wars Greatest Hits Action Figures "Buy One, Get One Free"
Star Wars Saga Collection Action Figures "Buy One, Get One Free"
Target:

Toys R Us:
Trival Pursuit Star Wars Saga Edition $9.89
Wal-Mart:
Star Wars Darth Vader Voice Changer $10.00
Star Wars Millennium Falcon Transformer with 2 Exclusive Golc Titanium Vehicles $28.88
** Looks like K-Mart is the place to go for super-cheap basic figures! ;)
-
Jeff, do you know what the exclusvie titanium vehicles are with the Falcon transformer? I know one was supposed to be the X-wing but I'd not heard there would be two.
Thanks for the summary. Amazingly our TRU's have a wicked sale on this week, $4.97 CAD for the Endboo wave :o
Oh, and if anyone wants that Falcon transformer I'd happily buy the two gold titaniums from them ;)
-
I was just about to start going back through the archives to get my own wrap-up, so thanks for this Jeff... Looks like a trip to K-Mart is in order for me. they've been loading up with Endor Wave, and H&V/GB stuff... Some army builders to be had at these stores because of that. I may drag the ad with me to other stores too since WM and Target are f'n us over without figure deals.
-

Thank you. I'll leave my confusion in the titanium thread. :-*
-
Wal-Mart gave me a deal today, 3x orange clones, 2x DSGs and a Scorch for 2 bucks apiece! Don't know if a local thing or what, but made my day. ;D
-
I stopped by Target today and saw a few Titanium Ultra Vader's TIE and a Millenium Falcon. I remembered seeing earlier ships discounted to clearance but these didn't have any orange tags on them. Brought them to a self price scanner: $4.98 each!! The small Titanium ships were actually a few cents more than these!

I was just looking at the Black Friday flyers again. The Kay B Toys promo on action figures EXCLUDES Star Wars figures (at least in my area).
-
I will head to WM Sat. hopefully they'll have the sale.
No way I'm heading out tommorow, I'll stay home eatingleftovers pelase! :D
-
The walmart in my area honored the "buy one get one free" basic figure ad from k-mart. :)
-
I noticed that Target has lowered the price of the GH figures to the same price as basic figures.
-
wow! so i spent the weekend with my folks' folks up in the small town of Martell, CA. there, i went to big k mart on black friday, and got a jedi temple assault bp for $21.99 and two death star gunners, but 1, get 1 free! I am one happy camper!

Martell as in next door to Jackson? I used to live in Jackson.

The Snowspeeder and Kit Fisto Starfighter are starting to hit clearance at Target. $20.98 and $13.98 respectively.
-
Yeah, I ran into these last night and picked up two Snowspeeders. If you can find them, $21 is a good price for these. There were only 4 at my Target. There are approximately 20 Kit Fisto Starfighters on the shelves however, so I'm going to hold out until possibly the next round of price reductions.
-
GB, on clearance at Target ($4.64.) :)
-
I saw about 10 pregnant Padmes at Target for 3.32.
-
I found some basic figures including an Utapau Clone for $3 at Wal-Mart, Titanium Bossks (silver & regular) for $4.24 each at Target, a mini-Unleashed Kashyyyk 10pk for $9.98 at Target, and, of course, plenty of 50% off ornaments.

That's about all I saw around, but I know a guy who shops around specifically during clearance time to pick up anything for later sales and probably bought them all up (since they're all gone.) He has a warehouse that he just throws the stuff in and than pulls it out 10 years later to sell. I'm sure he's going to be most disappointed with POTF2.

My area isn't clearancing much... Target has some stuff here and there, but not much was "left" to get clearanced this year... Wm's around me are really hesitant to do heavy duty discounting on Star Wars anymore. Last time I saw anything of note was the end of '05 they had some reasonably cheap Deluxe and then clearanced a small ammount of basic figures for $3 that got restocked with the cases that had the Twins sets in them... Not a whole lot though beyond that.
I was at a local Wally tonight and they had stacks of Tin sets from the OT and Cantina in the clearance aisle, but full price. They have had remnants of the same VTSC figures on clearance for a whopping $.03 off for $9.96. ::) It was one of the few WM's in the area that actually GOT VTSC in though at all. most around me never did.
The tins are full price though, but there's enough of them I expect a clearance at some point... I just hope I'm around to jump on it when it happens because I wouldn't mind either an ANH or ROTJ set extra for a good price.
-
A case of Mace Windu battle packs appeared at this one Target for half off, at $9.98.
-
I just read about these new "Special Value" double packs at Wal-Mart. They're ringing up at $9.98 which is a fantastic deal for two figures, considering that ONE figure costs a little under $3 less than that.

My Wal-Mart had all of the TSC last waves on sale for $2; I got 3 Jerjerrods and a white Endor soldier for $8 total!
-
Nice deal... My WM's rarely discount stuff, or so I've come to expect, so I hope maybe some sales hit around here... Not that there's much left any good around here but I'd take some Officers and things to customs.
-
Another Target in my area rose basic figure prices to $7.64. >:(
-
WM in my area are selling those tin sets for $20. I was considering the modal Nodes, but I'm not sure.
-
Holy **** Anton, I'd be basically bailing on those stores... That's simply outrageous. $22 before tax for 3 figures... I mean, keerist that's retail rape.
-
Found a new promo code for Hasbro Toy Shop- BDLSP7
It's good for $10 off a purchase of $50 or more, and works with the current sale they have on some stuff like Transformers.

I saw that insane price at 2 or 3 of "your" Valley Target stores today Anthony, and my jaw nearly hit the floor. On top of that, one of those Targets had upped their Galactic Heroes 2-packs to like $6.88, or some such nonsense. This on the heels of jacking all of the Titanium ships up a buck as well. WTF is going on with the prices on this stuff the past couple weeks?! Getting a bit outrageous, IMO.
I got so annoyed with the prices at that new Woodland Hills Target attached to the mall, that when I noticed all of their Titanium ships peg tags still read $4.99 (though they all scanned at $5.89), I took several of the tags up to a cash register, along with all 9 of their remaining ships, and got them all price adjusted back down to the more appropriate $4.99 price. I'll just hang on to them all 'til the next wave hits, and return these in their place. Poor integrity on my part, I know, but screw all these new inflated prices!
Still wondering when some of the remaining TSC swag is going to hit clearance, with all the TAC stuff waiting in the wings...
-
saw at Target this morning, a sale through Saturday on, of course they only have the Final 22 a Derlin and Veers, down form $6.64 to $5.97. I 've yet to see any TAC at this target.
-
A nice $1 off if you need clones though... Not too bad. Wish anyone around here would have some sales. :-\

My Target has em for $5.29. ???
-
My WM finally is doing their clearance. Those collection tins are now $13 a piece. Picked up those Modal Nodes. Also they have those 2-packs for $5 each, but its all Naboo Soldier and Rep Beens.
-
I seen where TRU hiked the price of the AT-AT from 89.99 to the 10 more price of 99.99 which is stupid and hate this that they did that even though i bought mine last year. But i would liked to have another one just to have one sealed but not for that price i am not going to pay.
-
I didn't get one in 2006, or in 2007, or the first half of 2008, but I broke down and got a Moff Jelljar at Target today, i couldn't pass him up at a buck sixty six. He was an easy pass when he was 7 dollars all last year.
-
I never got a Cmdr Cody, but looking at the prices he gets on Ebay today, I'm not sure I will. I regularly see him over $10-$15 w/o shipping. Man. Guess I'll keep waiting, and hope that Hasbro resculpts.
-
You could buy the animated version.
-
Next to the non-animated figures he'd just look anorexic.
-
I can't believe Cody goes for that much. I'm guessing we'll be seeing him released again for sure.
-
So, in the process of their reset, the local Walmart has moved the Moff JerJerod (X5) out of the clearance isle, scraped the $5.00 clearance stickers off, and put them in with the Legacy collection figures :'(
The particularly sad thing is, if they marked them to like $2 or $3 bucks, i might just buy a couple, but at $7.46, no way; they'll be there in 10 years...

Funny - they dropped the price by over 50% on the BMFs after what, 3-4 months? But they can't manage to offer a 2yr old figure for less than $5.
-
Wow. That's pretty idiotic.
