Great!!  Get cracking!

Is there any way you can ditch the commlink?  Maybe pour his booze on it to short it out.  I don't know.  But you do need to get rid of it.

Is there a way to ditch the commlink?  Not in the elevator itself, obviously, since it will go down with you.

Will booze short out the comlink?  No.  Can you crush it with your toolkit?  No.  It's a fairly sturdy piece of hardware.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: peg heads to ball heads
« on: October 24, 2005, 07:06 PM »
Ball jointed heads are nice, but they're KILLING the hobby!!!   >:(

And they don't really even look that good most of the time.

I'm still not sure what to do at this point.  I would say though that I had a bit of confusion, as when we fiddled with the commlink, I thought we were then hearing the conversation between the Imperials.  I guess we weren't then?

Oh, I understand your confusion.  Because the scene with Draven immediately follows the turning on the comlink, you thought we were listening in on it.

No, sadly, that is not the case.  :)

When you turned on the comlink, all you heard was "a burst of static, followed by a click and a low-pitched BEEP.  Then...nothing."'

You did NOT actually hear, nor are you aware of the conversation between Wolfell and Draven.  I put that in for "entertainment purposes only."  Fortunately, I was able to keep the scene vague enough as to not reveal any information which you don't already know.

Hey, Chewie, that's great!!!

The other day, I was thinking about making a "movie poster" for my photonovel, but I decided to hold off until there's at least a little more "story" going on.

But you should definitely make one of these posters for all your old chapters!  This looks great!!

And I still think you should get yourself a free website to permanently archive all of them, since TCA is unreliable.

Just as a quick "comment round up", there are currently three votes for slipping the comlink on the drunk from the other sites, from newcomer blight nightmare, and from FFURG's smartypants and Clone Commander Gree.

Findswoman also seems to reluctantly support the idea.

But there's plenty of time for more input, so don't be shy!

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Customs by Fritzkrieg

WOW!  Great stuff.

Some of these I've seen before on FFURG.

It's an embarassment of riches!  Sensory overload!

Quite a large, imaginative and eclectic group of customs.

That gamorrean is freaky and creepy!  And I LOVE the red-head TIE pilot!  I'm especially partial to the "Scarlet" head, obviously.

And my other fav is the "gung ho" headed stormtrooper.  Very cool!

wonderful stuff all around!

You know what?  I loved this clone unit until I saw Ryan's comment about the white shins.

But, to me, that's a minor quibble.  On balance, it's another amazing job with absolute first rate weathering!

Thanks, Chewie.

Yeah, I missed the chance to snag a VOTC fett.  I actually think the POTF2 version holds up pretty well, though.  It was a good looking figure and only slightly bulked up, not like the 'roid rage versions of Han and Luke.

The articulation is a problem, though.  I also have 300th Fett (in case you ever get shot at!), so I hope it won't be a big problem.

Don't sell yourself short, Lance -- you did a fine job on these.  :) I agree with Delicious, it's great to see these guys close up!  Especially Uncle Lance, since we haven't really got to see him up close yet.  He looks younger than I thought he was -- what head did you use for him?  It's a really cool head.

Only one small thing... isn't the Stormie called "AK-289"? Don't know why, but I'm reminded of this scene from the photonovel... ;)

Keep up the great work -- can't wait to see more!   8)

... the Findswoman

Nice get on the correct name of the trooper, Findswoman!  You get a gold star!  (It was late, I was too lazy to look it up...so sue me!)

Lance is supposed to be around his middle thirties.  The head is "Mick" from the "Xyber 9" series.  I agree, it's a cool head, though just a tad on the cartoonish side.

I was going to put him in the "customs of us" thread, since he shares my name, but we really don't look all that much alike, alas...

386
FYI, Findswoman - The open panel leads to some circuitry which is part of the elevator itself.

So if you put anything in there, it goes with you!

It also occurs to you that the comlink itself feels pretty damn sturdy.  After all, it's supposed to be a back-up in case the main, helmet-mounted comlink fails.  This baby can be dragged through the mud, sat on, smashed, dropped, soaked and still keep on tickin'.

Crushing it with your toolkit doesn't seem like an option.

Some people might complain about the Trandoshan's feet not being accurate, but I figure they were blown off in a war and he's got cybernetic replacements.  ;)

-DD

For years, that poor Trandoshan was endlessly mocked and ridiculed on his homeworld for having small feet.  He ran away from home as soon as he was old enough, traveling the galaxy to hide his shame.

Photonovels and Movies / Re: INTERACTIVE Photonovel - UPDATE 10/23!!!
« on: October 23, 2005, 01:41 PM »
There's only one way to answer jedistyle and findswoman's question - to try turning the comlink off to see if that makes a difference.

So here's your answer:

WHAT NOW?

Star Wars Action Figures / Lance's customs (The Cast of "Summer Job")
« on: October 23, 2005, 01:24 PM »
This is something I have been meaning to do for some time now - spotlight the customs that appear in the interactive photonovel in their own thread.

Now I am not much of a customizer at all, my feeble skills are limited merely to limb-swapping and some crude painting.

And, unfortunately, the "main character" of the interactive story (who, by the way,
doesn't have a real name yet - hint, hint) is one of the worst customs ever, even by
my standards (and was made in haste using only the sparse materials I had handy at the time.)

So here are a few of the characters.  More images will follow!

Photonovels and Movies / Re: INTERACTIVE Photonovel - UPDATE 10/21!!!
« on: October 23, 2005, 07:20 AM »
Okay, folks, time for a quick update!

Findswoman, Ryan and CorranHorn all suggested trying or tinkering with the seemingly broken Imperial comlink.

But the analysis came from jedistyle, who had some very intriguing (and alarming) ideas about why the comlink might not be working properly, even though he was the one who suggested turning it on in the first place!

So I tried to combine the two a bit in my reply.  Here goes!

(Please note, there is NO missing image, that icon is just a glitch!)
