The Vintage Collection / Re: Boba Fett Mail-Away Offer?
« on: October 25, 2010, 06:49 AM »
I agree too, send them individually. Besides if one gets lost in the mail the other should still make it.

On another note, I sent in for 2 on 9/22; the checks were cashed on 10/1 but they haven't showed up yet. But I wasn't expecting them to. I held out in sending mine in hoping there would be a delay in getting these with the result being they had to make more and fixed the package and mailer in the process. I don't really expect a change in the mailer but I do expect a better glued bubble if there is such a delay. Just my experience at the moment for anyone who sent in their stuff after those dates and are hoping to see these soon.

I have yet to send in for this. I'm having a hard time wanting to tear open any of these yet. I'm hoping if I hold out the next shipments will be better assembled, it sounds like the bubbles weren't done very well on this round.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2010 "Vintage" Collection Wave 2 - RotS
« on: September 11, 2010, 10:14 AM »
Wave 2 is currently in stock at Entertainment Earth. Not the revision cases, or at least not all of them, but they updated the assortment. When I first ordered my wave 2 case there weren't foils in it. Now there are. Magnaguard, Han, Vader and Cody are the foils. I'd have preferred no foils. The only foil I really want is the fett and that's just to flush out a fett focus. Wave 1 is still showing in stock too.

Anyone compare the new Galacticus to the Toy Biz ML BAF Galacticus? I was just wondering if anyone had a chance to put them side by side and what the consensus is.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Ghostbusters Figures!
« on: August 4, 2010, 03:22 PM »
For anyone interested EE has "retro-action" Ghostbuster figures up for order. 8" figures with cloth outfits in retro Mego style packaging. It's just the main 4 but they're around $20ea. They won't be out until January according to the site but it's something else to consider if you just want the main 4 and don't want to go the Matty site path or have a scale preference. Not sure how they compare to what mattycollector is offering but I've ordered these instead of dealing with the frustration of the matty site. It kills me though that they'll do this for GB but won't do a retail line for MOTU.

Hasbro is just screwing with everyone on pricing anymore. Typically a manufacturer doesn't compete directly with it's customers. In this case not only have I seen these instock on the Hasbro site but they were $7.99ea. Maybe that's changed a little since I haven't checked back today but when I did they were in stock so apparently only Hasbro wants to be able to sell these prior to 8/6/10? That's pretty shoddy. EE has cases listed at $99.99, which breaks down to roughly $8.34 per case but EE is always changing prices. So, based on what I see here it's $7.99 direct from hasbro, $8.34 from EE but you have to buy the case and $9.99 from TRU. I'm going to bet Wallyworld and Target will have these at or less than $6.99. If not it sounds like Hasbro is more and more trying to take that market share away from it's resellers. I have all of these on order by the case. I've already got my wave 1 case. After shipping it cost me $8.70 per figure. At least it's a sealed case and it's in perfect condition. I'm not even opening these, they'll go into storage as is and I'll pick up cheaper openers at retail to get my Boba Fett. Overall though, I look at this as a bad omen. Prices may settle later this year to under $7 but I expect to see this scenario play out like this next year. Hasbro will kill the line if they keep it up. It's funny how it only seems to be Star Wars that Hasbro messes with like this. I don't think Transformers pricing has fluctuated as much since the first movie came out.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2010 "Vintage" Basic Figure Line
« on: February 9, 2010, 12:06 PM »
I got sick of the glut, I haven't bought a single figure in 2009 period. Partly due to the cost, partly due to the distribution but mostly due to the assortments. Seriously, they repack everything but can't repack Darth Reven, Darth Malek or pre-cyborg grievous? Minor rant but seriously, rotate the legends figures hasbro. I missed a lot of figures that I wanted but I just couldn't justify the cost. Hasbro can say all they want about rising cost, etc. but they have the volume across the board that can keep costs down. They can't tell me they use different plastic formulas for everyline they offer or different paints across the lines. The cardbacks shouldn't even be an issue since they're paying for a large sheet of board and as long as the waste is minimal they're still probably getting the same number of cards per sheet. Bandai is making 3 1/4'' Power Rangers figures in a $5-6 dollar range and probably in smaller numbers. Toybiz managed to keep the costs of Marvel Legends figures in a 6'' scale around $8 and now we pay more than that for a Hasbro 3 1/4'' version? None of it really adds up except for Hasbro seeing the secondary market and getting an idea of what can be sustained. That's the only thing I can think of as originally the ARC-170 was a $30 ship that did at one time sell for $60-$75 in a ROTS box on the secondary market but that's around the new retail price. But those days are gone. If they could get the new "vintage" line to be around the $5-$6 range I'll bet they'd see an increase in sales volume regardless of what figure gripes there may be. Mainly because it's an easier pill to swallow.

Now that I've ranted. I think the vintage carback is the way to go. They shouldn't have ever changed it. My reasoning is that Star Wars is the only toy line where there is a market for vintage cards without figures on them. Change the graphic, maybe; but leave the original concept alone. To me it identified the brand. Changing it every year is just retarded to me. GI Joe always seemed to do OK on what basically amounts to the same design. Send the occasional accesories pack to retail for cantina tables, control panels and mouse droids or what not and be done with it. Better yet, release playsets that aren't exclusives and not $50! I'll be ordering these by the case which is what I don't think Hasbro considers. But once they are done with this Vintage concept I'll probably be done again. I don't need SA variants of all figures. Some of them I think would be fine like the old school style with nearly no articulation at all! I know, Blaspheme! Many of us do order by the case bypassing Wal-Mart, Target and TRU all together. That has to skiew their numbers regarding the collectors somewhat. I'd just like them to get off their asses and finally make a decent Death Star playset. I bet that'd boost at least some figure sales if they'd just release the right ones.

About this toyrocket thing. It sounds to me that they're having carrier issues. I worked for a company that used a similar line about shipping late and it was because we couldn't get any carrier to pick up until we paid them in full first. At one time we had carriers who wouldn't pick up even if we did pay them or were paid up because they knew we were going under. Of course it is possible they're just overwhelmed with orders and are understaffed to ship but if that was the case they'd still need to pull the order and the wording of their email implies the order has been pulled.

Conventions / Columbus, OH CTS Toy Show at Vet's Sunday 4/19/09
« on: April 14, 2009, 01:11 PM »
Hey all,

Just wanted to see if anyone was going out this Sunday in Columbus to the Vet's Memorial Toy Show. I know I see some of the 501st there usually in costume but I thought I'd bring it up since I didn't already see a thread for it and I know there's usually a lot of Star Wars at the show.

I have a 2000 ford focus. The tranny is out on it too. If you do the research on it the ford focus is pretty much crap when it comes to the tranny. I wouldn't suggest any year, make or model of the ford focus to anyone.

I just completed a trade with Chris and it was flawless. Very good communication and helped me finish out my Simpson's Tree House of Horror Evo sets!

I remember picking up atari 2600 games there on the cheap in the 80's. That's about all I ever really bought there. That was back when Children's Palace was still around. In recent years I've picked up the odd Disney Car, Marvel Legend, Star Wars or just odd line no one else is carrying toy but I rarely shopped there. I'm not going to be missing them.

This may not be the place to ask but does anyone have any of the Ark stickers to come off of? I'd love to have the ark but I'm not all that interested in the 12" figures themselves. Check my up for trade list for star wars trade items. I've got crystal skeleton stickers but I'm not sure how many of those I have to trade.
