When the AOTC figures first hit they were $6 at Target and $5 everywhere else except Kmart/KB - so I still have hope.

 :P

I surely hope you're right, but as I said in the other thread, Hasbro has shown recently that they can get away with increasing the price on figures (the VOTC) and not be concerned with the fanbase suddenly not buying the figures. Plus think of all the fair-weathered fans and the kids who will buy the toys, they aren't buying them right now so they don;t know how much they go for now and thus have no comparison point. A shrewd move by them, but it only makes me want to wait more for the inevitable clearance sales.

While the vintage crew at RS can be caustic at times (I've certainly called them out on it several times), they are no way near as bad as the majority of the ****** morons that populate Wuhers. Assclowns there do nothing more than purposely make posts just to anger someone, cause a riot, or just grab attention for themselves. The majority of the people who post on Wuher's have nothing to contribute whatsoever not only to the threads in Wuher's or the collecting sections, but to life itself. That's why I stick solely to the Wrestling Trivia thread there cause I'm just owning people there, and do all my "OT" posting here on JD.

The Zahn books are the best of the best when it comes to EU. They give a detailed yet realistic look at characters, worlds, and situations in the Star Wars galaxy, something only matched by the X-Wing saga of books from Michael Stackpole and Aaron Alliston. Those books I would highly recommend, even the NJO series can be a good read if you get past the first book and ignore the Borg-like qualities of assimilation from the Yuuzhan Vong.

Books to avoid though are the Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy which you referenced a lot of stuff from, it's full of tripe and must have been written at a time when everyone at LFL was gearing up for Episode 1, thats the only reason I can venture to guess as to how it ever got released.

As a word of advice to people who start reading the EU. There are various levels of the EU, from the campy to the serious, to the just horrendously bad. When trying to decide what could have happened in the SW universe, go with what you enjoyed. In my own personal version of the SW Universe, several of the Marvel Comics tales did occur, despite the fact that they are not officially a part of the Star Wars Universe (basically any EU from the 90's is "official"), while the Bounty Hunter Wars has been chucked out the nearest airlock.

SLT?

Share the Love?

He's referring to everyone's anxiety-laced vintage AFA figure collector SithLordToys. Got banned I believe from the Scum for going off on several people, then attempted on several occassions to come back into the scum vintage section with different nicknames, only to be outted everytime. He may have even stopped by here a time or two, though certainly not known around these parts for the kind of stuff he did on scum, that belongs to someone else.

Well... I suppose this is where I get off.  Or where I step back seriously.  I can't justify paying $7 for these figures.  I'm sure if my economic situation were rosier, I might have a different opinion, but it's not, so with the exception of a very few must have figures - EP3 Vader, etc. - I'm out.

 :(

Yeah seriously, if this is the MSRP mandated from Hasbro, it's going to hurt their main base for sales, us the collectors. Remember how many people complained about the VOTC being $10, well at least the majority of those figures were special. But we're sure to get some generic Jedi with force throw action feature and 2 pts of articulation and they will expect us to pay $7, **** them! Be thankful that most stores will order too much of the product and when they don't sell out, they will clearance them out. That's the way to go it seems for ROTS....

Yep, price is correct.   :(

EE upped their prices for case purchases to $79.99, which works out to about $7.50 each.  Target and Wal-Mart will more than likely keep the $7 price point until Ep3 figures are actually released, when they will drop down to $6 each...

Methinks we've seen the last of the $5 figure price-point.

Jeff

Well that's just ****** great, Hasbro isn't even putting out half the time a product worth $5 now they want it to be $7. Well that's just going to give me more than enough good reason to wait on buying 95% of the ROTS line until KB or other stores clearance them out for less than half the original price. Way to go Hasbro, **** the consumer over again!

Can that price of $6.99 be correct? That would be a 40% markup from current Target prices. If memory serves correctly, prices actually dropped for AOTC, why would they go up for ROTS?

Ok that is the most ****** up idea ever. First off, if it's a sealed enviroment how do they intend people to you know, be able to breathe???

I got a really crappy Ep1 C-3PO watch one year from my mom. She thought it was cute, but she should have known better, so I had her give me the receipt, I returned it and got the money back and bought figures.

I got a broken Star Destroyer Xmas ornament one time from someone at work, the thing was beat up like no one's business, yet the guy thought I'd want it. He did turn around though and gave me a neat Vader poster a few weeks later, so it all worked out.

Actually, I was thinking it was some knucklehead who goes by the name of General Windu. He tends to make an ass of himself over there and he just so happened to be replying to almost every thread this spammer was creating/posting in within seconds of the spammer's post.

Yeah.   I saw all that for about 2 seconds - then I went back to watching the Yankees game.

I'm all for a little excitement every now and then but that was pretty damn absurd - even for a troll.

it was funny to watch while i wasted away at work. funny not for what he was doing, some of the **** he said was quite offensive actually, but what was funny was the reactions he was getting. some of it was priceless and some of it leads me to believe  that one of the people responding was the same guy
