Title: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: Jeff on February 9, 2013, 05:49 PM
According to GH, there are 19 (https://twitter.com/GalacticHunter/status/300371736644423680) Black Series figures planned for 2013.  If Wave 1 has 8, and Wave 2 has 6, I guess that leaves 5 for Wave 3 -

Anyone want to guess the line-up?  Here's a list of "who's left" from the unreleased Droid Factory figures...

- Geonosian Warrior
- TIE Pilot (Vader's Wingman)
- Geonosis Battle Droid (Red)
- Sandtrooper (Black Pauldron)
- 212th Clone (on VC45 body)
- Clone Wars Mace Windu
- Clone Wars Captain Rex
- A-Wing Pilot
- BAD FA-4
- BAD TC-70
- BAD R5-X2
- BAD R8-B7

Clean the slate and go with totally new figures. They are not tied to the prequel rereleases anymore. This whole day was like groundhog day with celebration six, pathetic no new figures from ground up shown
Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: Jesse James on February 10, 2013, 12:22 AM
That's my only real disappointment today, was that there were no new ground-up figures we didn't already know about in 3.75" scale...  anything new was really 6", aside from exclusives.

I liked the exclusive announcements for sure though, and I like getting some of those figures they are giving us, but ground-up 3.75" newness would've gone a long way to making people happy.   Oh well.

Post by: Jeff on February 10, 2013, 01:12 AM
Yeah, ground-up newness in Wave 3 would go a LONG way to improve he line's future going forward.

If Wave 3 is just more of the Droid Factory left-overs (as much as I want that realistic Rex and black Pauldron Sandtrooper), it's going to be a let down obviously.

Based on this list, who do I think makes the cut?

- Geonosian Warrior
- TIE Pilot (Vader's Wingman)
- Geonosis Battle Droid (Red)
- Sandtrooper (Black Pauldron)
- 212th Clone (on VC45 body)
- Clone Wars Mace Windu
- Clone Wars Captain Rex
- A-Wing Pilot

Unless, of course, there are other figures that were in the pipeline that hadn't been revealed, and were stronger character choices!

The news about a possible Build-A-Droid exclusive pack is somewhat reassuring.  I'm thinking either Entertainment Earth as a likely venue.  Lord knows that Adam Pawlus loves his droids!

Like mentioned earlier, I think it would be good to put a few new figures in these waves.  It just seems like nothing new when we've seen these figures since last summer-ish and there really wasn't anything new to announce.  I guess their big push with collectors will likely be the 6" stuff right now too, but at least they are keeping this line going too.  Should continue to be a cheaper year for collecting, with only 19 figures here expected, and I think I'll only be buying half or so of these.  There just isn't much to get me interested in clonetroopers at this point, I'm happy enough with the previous versions for now at least.

Honestly I'd be happy with any of those remaining figures, except for maybe the 212th Clone. I'm guessing we don't hear about anything from this wave until SDCC.

From JTA's Hasbro Q&A (Part 3) at Toyfair:

Quote
Question:  How many figures can we expect to see in the upcoming "Black Series" 3.75" line and how many will be brand new figures?

Answer:  There will be 19 figures (this year) and all are from the cancelled Droid Factory line.

So if that's accurate, I guess the better question is which two Droid Factory figures didn't make the final cut...  I'm hoping it's the Clone and Battle Droid.  Growing quite tired of those, I am.  I guess I'm OK with this news, since I generally hate "cancelled" items.  Sure, it means no new figure news for quite some time, but I'm enjoying the break, to be honest.

Post by: Jesse James on February 12, 2013, 01:01 AM
Yeah I can't say the break's killing me either...  money saved.  I'm trying to make life a little easier on myself for the inevitable return of things.

Breaks like this always help me find less stuff to want to buy too, when things do pick back up.  I usually am happy enough to pass on the things I'm even a little iffy on when it gets back in full swing.

So far with the black collection that makes, maybe 3 total.

Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: Jesse James on July 25, 2013, 03:00 PM
I've never been a fan of Plagueis being an alien...  especially one of those ones.  So I'll get him but for me that Nikto Goon and Mace are nice additions...  But is that the whole wave?  4 figures?  Neyo wasn't high on my update list, and I'm to the point that unless they do Clone Wars style headsculpts and extra helmets, Clone COmmanders feel like a waste.  You couldn't really with Gree, but Cody, a made up Neyo, Bly...  I'd like to see that happen but Hasbro seems to not want to do Phase I & II styles.

BTW, glare much?  Holy moly on the bright light...  LIke they're all entering heaven.

Yeah I love buying random goons so the Skiff Guard is the highlight for me. I'll snag Mace too to go along with the other CW guys. Couldn't care less about Neyo or Plagueis though. The old Neyo is good enough for me, and Plagueis just seems better to me left as a myth about Palpatine's backstory.

Agreed, but if they're resculpting Jabba's goons, I'm surprised they didn't start with Ree Yees or Tessek... classic Vintage figures that haven't been done in about 15 years.
Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: P-Siddy on July 26, 2013, 01:05 PM
Speaking if Ree-Yees, wasn't he and Yakface scheduled to be done sometime soon?  I believe Hasbro was saying they were going to put them in the Vintage Collection when it returned, but since we've got movies coming out in the next few years, I would think they'd be bumped up into the Black or following series.

All three of the Cantina Denizens and the Skiff Guards from the cinema scenes need done over IMO...  I'd certainly like to see them anyway.

Ree Yees too, for sure.  Yak, close, but there's some new I'd rather see over him first (Doallyn, a couple human goons too, Geezum, Yuzzum).
Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: Force Guy on July 27, 2013, 01:57 AM
I'd definitely like to see them redo Yakface, but I'm quite content with Ree Yees & I think they did a good job with POTJ Tessek.

I think Wave 3 is the point where I'll start collecting from this line.  Waves 1 & 2 don't interest me at all.
Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: Darth_Anton on July 27, 2013, 09:18 AM
Yak Face is a must. I can also do with the Ree-Yees. POTJ was starting to get things right, if they never get to Tessek, I'd be okay with that.
Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3

Tessek is still one of my favorites so I agree he's fine. Would love to see a new yak face especially.
Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: Nicklab on July 27, 2013, 01:00 PM
It's an interesting mix of a wave, although the absence of core characters is a bit of a head scratcher.  I guess Hasbro's approach is changing.  Plagueis is definitely a cool concept.  And Neyo seems to be a step forward as far as phase II Clones go.

I definitely like Vizam.  Although that figure appears to essentially be a resculpt of the Nikto from the POTF2 skiff guards cinema scene.  That figure did need updating, so this is fine by me.  For my tastes, if Hasbro is going to work their way through resculpting the older goons from Jabba's palace, I'd like to see them alternate those releases with new characters.  I agree that a new Yakface would be in order.  The POTF2 version is weak in comparison with modern figures.  But please don't do things like that at the expense of getting new figures out.

Definitely surprised that we haven't seen some figures like the A-Wing pilot and the realistic Captain Rex.  Maybe the Hasbro panel will shed some light there?
Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: Jesse James on July 27, 2013, 04:15 PM
Tessek I agree, though softgoods would make him far more fun.  But ReeYees for me is a must.  Even if all they did was take the arms and legs and just add some elbow and knee joints.  His pose is odd...  He had decent screen time hopping around like a jagoff so he's a smidge higher on my wants then.
Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: Nicklab on July 27, 2013, 04:55 PM
Ree Yees is a case where we know that Hasbro can do better.  That being said, the POTF2 Ree Yees was one of the better figures in that line.  But compared with a figure like Ask Aak or Mawhonic, we know that Hasbro can make a better Gran.  I have to regard Tessek as less of a priority than both Yakface or Ree Yees.  But I'd still like to get some other Jabba's palace characters like Doallyn, Geezum or Loje Nella, too.
Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: Jesse James on July 27, 2013, 05:24 PM
Geezum's my top JP Alien right now...  Doallyn 2nd.  Resculpts then, if we're not counting Jabba's goons at Docking Bay 94.  If they're in this mix, I want all those human thugs, NOW!  They'd make a sweet pack like these Arena Jedi.  :-X

Post by: Mister Skeezler on July 27, 2013, 08:32 PM
I'm definitely a little biased on these guys, as Ree Yees has always been one of my favorite characters (for some reason), and I'd like to be able to have Tessek and Yakface be able to sit in my diorama.

Nice variety in this (small) wave, still wonder if something else will be added here or not.  Vizam is the gem for me as well, and I like Mace Windu too.  I'm sure Plagueis will be a mega popular figure, and I'll try to get one as well, but I haven't read the book so I'm not quite as psyched as others.  Neyo is nice, but another clone, so whatever.  Cool though.  Surprised at no "main" or core characters here though, unless Mace is considered part of that list.

Mermeru is a nice looking Wookiee figure...

Still, even I'm getting sick of PT stuff at this point.   :-\  Really need some OT love.  Even resculpts of stuff that was decent would be appreciated.

Plagueis is weird...  Still don't like that they went alien with him.  I like the figures though.  All look very nicely done.

I've been looking forward to Merumeru for a while so that's cool. But yeah. Definitely would rather see OT at this point. Same goes in the SL line where we're getting more PT/CW it seems. Time to let some of that go. Unless it's never before done CW like Satine or somebody. Then I'm all for it.  :)
Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: Brian on August 15, 2013, 08:32 PM
I'm in the exact same boat as you guys.  The figures look great, but I'm just more interested in OT stuff anymore.  There really isn't much that can get me excited about clonetroopers anymore, and much from the prequels in general.  Not that they don't make nice figures, but I'm pretty happy with the ones we've already gotten for the most part.  That being said, I'm glad to see Merumeru here, we could use a new wookiee.  This is probably one of the more exciting waves to me that we've seen so far, but I can't say any of them are overly wow-ing me.  I had a Wave 2 set preordered through BBTS, and cancelled it today realizing that I really wanted less than half the figures.  Why pay $10-$12 for stuff I don't want all that badly?  I used to just preorder the set from each wave and be done with it, with the luck we've had at retail the past couple years, but until we get some heavier OT waves, I think I'm done with that.

I will give hasbro credit on Neyo being a nice head sculpt under that bucket.  I like that and would take updated Gree, Bly, and some TCW commanders.

Nice to finally see Merumeru!  The rumors during SDCC & CE2 were cool, but finally seeing the figure is believing!  And it looks like Hasbro has stepped up their sculpting on this particular Wookiee.  And seeing how good it looks on the card, I'm hoping that Hasbro will get around to revisiting Tarfful at some point, too.  The ROTS version of him was weak in comparison.

I super-duper agree with this sentiment!

If they can do Plagueis, there is no reason why they can't deliver core TCW characters that have yet to be done. Would still love some generic Nightsisters, Black Sun dudes, Red Mandos, etc.

Black Series Wave 3 Pre-Orders At EE (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HSA5077c&id=JE-405087801) + Free Shipping so not shabby.

Looks like a good wave breakdown too aside from maybe the Vader...

Some will harp on the Clone repacks too I suppose but at least they're army builders.

I'd seen an early sample of Neyo and it's an upgrade I'm happy to get...

I think the assortment isn't as rough as Wave 2 was in terms of getting what you don't want.  Luke is still a tougher figure to find from Wave 1 and didn't carry over to Wave 2...  The Stormtrooper, and 2 Clone carry-overs can be debated I guess.  I'm fine with this assortment though.  I think it works out, and gives me an extra Mara to do that nifty head swap with, without having an "original".  Sometimes I like to side-by-side stuff like that.

Yeah, that's a decent case assortment much like Wave 2... having not yet ordered a case of Wave 2 either I'm actually contemplating getting Wave 3 and just snagging my Wave 1 needs in the stores since that's hitting en masse now. All I'm REALLY interested in though are the unique characters. I have more than enough troopers and only find myself buying them because my old ones I bought between 2003-2005 are yellowing.

I saw this wave is available at a lot of online stores, most definitely caving in and buying. I've never bought whole cases of waves until the last online exclusive wave of TVC, and that was because that wave was just all-around amazing. This wave is pretty damn solid, too.

I've never been one to jump to buying the Clones, but daaaaaamn the paint job on the Neyo is incredible! That's one stellar figure. Plageuis, however, is the one figure I really do want - at first I hesitated when I found out he was a Muun but, seriously, you guys need to read the "Plageuis" novel - that book really is going to change a LOT on what you know (or don't know) about him and Palpatine.

Got Merumeru today and he is an entirely different sculpt than the exalted Preview wookiee warrior, which IMO is towering, hulking and completely badass.  I have 40-50 of those for sure.

Merumeru however is big, but 20% all around smaller than preview warrior. I,will try to post pics later tonight or in the AM.  My wife is happy on the laptop right now.

The Saleucami clones are entirely and thoroughly badass.

I like the size differential since Chewbacca was NOWHERE near the size of the warrior sculpts...  Those smaller warriors were crap I felt, and barely worth putting out, and while I love the Preview sculpt it's nice to get some Wookiee diversity in size/shape I think.  Chewbacca's a run by comparison really and that always seemed weird to me.

Some smaller and mid-size sculpts will go a long way to mixing things up...  That's assuming we maybe wind up with some more.  :-\

To me, these guys are like Ewoks...  I'd buy Wookiees all day.

I have received and opened most of this wave over the past week. I have every figure except for Windu in-hand. Plaguies, Neyo, and Merumeru are all terrific. The sculpts are nicely detailed, the paint apps are pretty well done, and each figure has a perfect complement of accessories. Much to my surprise I found Vizam to be even better than the other three figures. The outfit is very detailed, the head looks perfect, and the paint is outstanding. The only drawback is the blue plastic used for the inner joints. Overall though, Vizam is one of the rare figures that looks like it came right off the screen.

I got shipping notice on the entire Wave 3 I ordered and my extra MeruMeru's I have ordered.  Very merry Xmas to me. :P  Wave 4 will be far more easy to choke down with inevitable repacks now that I have Wave 3 without extra Clone I don't want.

Picked up an order of Wookiees and Clones to supplement the ones I'll get in my Wave 3 cases. Also picked up an extra Mace Windu and Vizam - so with the 25% offer and free shipping on orders over $50, I ended up spending less than $50 for 6 figures - not bad at all.

Wish I had been able to catch Plageuis in stock, but oh well - hopefully he'll be carried forward into the Wave 4 case so there will be additional chances to pick him up.

With the current deal, it doesn't even need to be $50.  So, if Plagieus pops up tomorrow you can just buy him with the discount and free shipping.  I bought the 6" Han and Vizam and that was it.

Started to receive some of my Wave 3 this week...  Some wookiees and Mace Windu Clone Wars...

Mace is solid, but far from perfect.  Hasbro could've gone the extra mile on this one, and saved a buck or two in the process even.  The Wookiee is flawless practically.  A rarity, but Hasbro knows Wookiees like Crosby knows how to split the Isles D pairs.

Rest of the crew on the way...  *joy*

This is probably one of the cooler waves of figures in 2013...  Wave 4 will obviously trump it for us all, but Wave 3, they were getting the jive of things.  2...  Eh, it is light.  1, clearly not everyone's cup of tea (yet highly underrated gems in there...  That Anakin is THE Anakin to own, and that Luke is so vastly different and more accurate that not owning it because you have the 30AC figure is just lame of you).

Hasbro clearly is working towards improvement but it's also clear that that is a slow process...  think steering an oil tanker...  It doesn't go as quickly as you want.

Yeah this worked out nice. Paid full price and shipping on Plagueis, then got Merumeru and Vizam for less than store cost and didn't have to get off my butt. If I ever see Neyo or Mace in person I will buy them, but if not then I don't need them really so I left them out of my order.

I don't like it being an alien in general, but a ****** CGI alien from AOTC that was beyond goofy acting/looking/speaking was over the top on its choice IMO.  I would've preferred it be a human.  Not that Lucas pushed the anti-alien thing in the Empire, I just would've preferred they keep to it since it's become part of the EU.

I haven't seen the Plagueis in person yet so I guess I should wait for judgment, but I'm super excited for this. I will admit my bias towards liking most anything they make that's EU (of course he's mentioned in ROTS, but I'm talking from the "Darth Plagueis" book).

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you Jesse, but if you don't like Palpatine's master being an alien with his hate for non humans then I'm guessing you didn't read the book. Palpatine doesn't kill him just because he wants to become the master.

Just wanted to throw my opposite two cents in.

I haven't read the book, no...  Nothing against the EU, as I love EU figures too...  Actually I wish we got a lot more because it's a lot deeper well than retreads at this point, so I'm with you.  My dislike of the figure isn't even that it's a BAD figure.  For what it represents it's perfect I'd say...  Like the Vong figures too and whatnot.

I just hate the character's design in the EU, didn't like Palps having an alien as a mentor/master (though, if he kills him in part because he IS an alien and he grows to dislike aliens in the story, that's kind of cool).  I hate those aliens in particular though because I felt they were among the goofier CGI aliens in the PT...  Up there with the Podracers for me.  Just didn't care for them, their goofy voices...

I think you'll probably love the figure though, it's Grade A like just about everything else they've put out the last several years.

Nick (or anyone else who's read the Plagueis book), remind me how the book ends, primarily how Plagueis dies.  Isn't it different than the way Palps describes it to Anakin in the opera?

But, yeah, a poor choice of alien for a Sith lord.

This Mace Windu figure... what shelf is he supposed to go on?  He's got Jango's helmet which made me think Episode II, but it's hollow (which I assume is Hasbro not putting a noggin' in there because it's violent) - but then he's got the clone arm guards on, which made me think Clone Wars or did he wear those in EII?.

What is this Mace?

It's Clone Wars. There was an episode in the series where Boba rigged his dad's helmet with a bomb, in order to kill Mace. Hasbro did a cool version of that in the animated line, with a break apart helmet and sculpted bomb inside. Shame they used a normal Jango helmet with this figure.

Thank you, I got mine last night and was confused about this as well. I recalled from the last days of TVC that there were realistic versions of Mace and Rex in the pipeline, so I always assumed this was that Mace. I have had it on my Want List for awhile now.

But then when I got it, the helmet made me wonder. This should have been the exploded helmet with bomb like with the original animated version. Kind of a big oversight, IMO.

I will say though, this is about the best sculpt of Samuel Jackson I have seen on ay action figure. They nailed it.
Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: Jesse James on December 10, 2013, 06:47 PM
Totally disagree on the sculpt for Jackson...  the TVC figure was flawless...  This one's skin color looks off to me, though I don't think the likeness is bad...  I think the TVC is really where it was at.

I'd have liked the blow-up helmet too, but at the same time other Windu's I think have come with the basically just Jango's bucket as an accessory.  Almost like a little trophy.  I'd have loved a booby trap helmet though, personally...  I think that's cool and was awesome in the toon.

I think it's a great figure though, regardless...  I love it.  I may grab a 2nd if I see him cheap.  I'd like one for the Jedi Fighter.

Oh, and I think this wave was pretty solid actually...  If Windu's the weaker of the links of new figures, and he's still good, that's a good sign.

Vizam, I agree totally that he makes me wish for FIVE more resculpts...  Well, 4, we got Snags, but I want to see all the Cinema Scene aliens redone now.

Tell me Nabrun Leids wouldn't make one of the most awesome resculpts EVER!?  Hyper articulation with the 4 arms, and if they did a removable mask to show the face underneath from EU, I'd be over the moon.  A Cantina alien resculpt I want, hands down.

I'd also love the Devronian, Klaatu, and the blue bandana Barada with the cross-draw holster (love that)...  This guy really makes you just want them all redone IMO.

Vizam is the winner, but I just got Merumeru today and as one of the last major figures from ROTS I wanted, he's outstanding. I figured he reused parts from the Sneak Preview Wookie, but doesn't appear to. Excellent figure. I think I would have preferred the helmet to sculpted on actually, since mine is ill fitting and rides kind of high. Otherwise, very cool.

I am sensing a large amount of fear for something as trivial as these figures. The Walmarts in my area most be scared to death of the black series. I mean It was bad though the Holiday season. Check this out. This Walmart had wave 1 of the Black seris and once they sold out they fused to restock.(http://[http://www.hisstank.com/forum/attachments/toys/141214d1389461614-star-wars-3-3-4-discussion-thread-001.jpg]) . To you guys who can find waves 2 and 3 just keep in mind that there are some of us who's stores hate Star Wars.

Same here in my closest store in Los Angeles. That Walmart has a toy manager who just phones it in and doesn't pay attention to their section. It's been like that for years. Plus, there's a Hot Wheels guy who still manages to pick through everything the moment it arrives at the store. The store has been fairly useless for the past 5 years.

I just order from Hasbro Toy Shop anymore. It's been more reliable with less hassle.

Yeah, online is the way to go. My local stores refuse to stock pretty much anything Hasbro anymore, outside of the role playing stuff. I guess TRU has a giant selection if you like Biggs and Vader. Target gets about one case a month, and Wal-Marts don't even have Star Wars sections.

It's too bad that Hasbro can't issue an ultimatum of some sorts (I know that retail giants are thinking of bottom line, etc.), in regards to stock our stuff now or don't get the new movie or Rebels merchandise.  I'm sure once the movie and Rebels are out interest will go up.  But in the end retailers can't bank on the future when current product doesn't move.

I found a complete case of Wave 3 (I bought Plagueis and Mara Jade, who I'd never managed to get online) at my local Target today.  Not only was this the first time that this Target had gotten a case of TBS figures since September (seriously), it was the first time I have seen a case of TBS figures show up at ANY local retailer since October, and the first time I've seen anything past wave 1 of TBS at retail period.  Everything I've gotten past wave 1 has been online, so finding an actual figure in a brick-and-mortar store is a totally new experience for me.  Wow.

So, I guess I'm actually caught up for the first time in a long time, even though I still need Starkiller and Shae Viszla from TVC.

Scored Mace Windu today at the… Disney Store... :-X

He seems kinda Sithy with those yellow eyes that for some reason Hasbro went with, and then of course there's the whole missing decals on his gauntlets…

It's a good figure, but it really feels lacking as a realistic interpretation of the TCW version; it doesn't have that oomph that the Anakin, Obi and Ahsoka figures had. The packaging makes no mention of TCW, the pictures are from Ep.II… Oh, well. At least we got the figure.
Title: Re: The Black Series 3.75" - 2013 Wave 3
Post by: Jesse James on February 24, 2014, 02:25 AM
Yeah, by far my least favorite realistic interpretation of a TCW character.  I felt the sculpt wasn't bad...  I think the last TVC Mace we got was the best likeness, but this wasn't bad.  The skin color seemed off to me by a lot though, and it just felt half-hearted with the logos missing and stuff.  I'd have dug it if the helmet included the detonator inside too, maybe some kind of TCW accessory to make you really feel the figure was special

He's been one of the easier Wave 3 figures to get, and he's not bad, but not great.  Just eh.  Fills a purpose I guess.  I'd have preferred young Ahsoka, personally, or even "adventure" Padme maybe.  Or Baby Boba.  Or a Death Watch Mandalorian.  Or a lot of other random important people.

Anyone have a real favorite in this wave? For me it's a toss up with Merumeru (due to size and sculpt) and Vizam (due to OT factor). Plagueis I'm really indifferent toward. Neyo is cool but I'm surprised how heavy they went with the weathering. Mace is lamen

I'm not a big fan of Plagueis either despite his HTF status.  Wookies and Nikto feel a little blah to me as well.  I think Neyo is my favorite from the wave - would have preferred a clean armor version of him, but that helmet still makes him one of my favorite clones.  I'd vote for Mara too, if you count her with swapped Black Widow head.   ;)

Anything with the likeness of Scarlett would make it a million times better... even Jabba.

MeruMeru is my favorite as well Jayson, but not by a huge margin against the others I enjoy.

I thought all the figures were ok...  Neyo was neat because of the new headsculpt for instance.  Little stuff like that is enough to make me like new Clones again (I can easily think of 3 commanders I'd love to see redone ala the TVC Clone Wars Commander), but they all had something cool.

Mace was the dud of the wave, but not so much to me because of the choice as I felt his headsculpt and skin color wasn't right.  I felt TVC figure was perfect and this was off somehow.

I liked Vizam, he's neat...  Any update of the skiff guards from POTF2 is nice to me, as I'd also love to see the Cantina 3-pack updated too.

I find Plagueis to be a fine figure for what he is, but like you said he's someone I'm indifferent towards.  I felt the same about Nom Anor.  Nice for what he is, but not someone who interests me terribly as a character.

This wave's obviously PT era heavy...  So while it's better than 1 and 2, 3 was still not getting me excited about buying it.  I liked Meru Meru a little more because of all the PT things I am interested in, Wookiees, Clone Commander resculpts (all decked out if possible), and Office Duel Palps are the 3 areas I'm still interested in.  Meru Meru did kind of make the case.  The arm swapping is interesting too, to make a more generic Wookiee.

I wish they'd redo the smaller Wookiee Warrior figure from 2005...  All the colors too.  If it just had knee articulation it would've been a very nice figure for its time.

Having finally gotten this wave in the past couple of weeks, it's left me thinking.  Is this one of the last gasps in the basic figure line for Prequel Trilogy & EU figures?  The rumor mill seems to be indicating that the basic figure line is going to be shifting focus towards the OT, the REBELS series, and eventually Episode VII.  It comes across as a bit of a letdown since there are still some PT characters that would've been nice to get around to.  Cin Drallig comes to mind.

But mostly?  I'm really glad that Hasbro got to Merumeru.  I've been wanting a figure of this particular Wookiee ever since one of the ROTS teaser trailers came out (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlBZGpQHZ90) and showed Merumeru leading a company of Wookiee warriors.  Hasbro really seems to have delivered with this particular Wookiee, and I'm genuinely pleased not just by the fact that the figure came out at all, but by how well it was executed, too.  Merumeru looks FAR BETTER than the ROTS Tarfful figure, and works well with some of the best sculpted Chewbacca figures.

I'd definitely like to see Hasbro revisit some of the Wookiees if at all possible.  I agree with Jesse, that the smaller of the Wookiee warrior figures was somewhat lacking in terms of leg articulation.  And Tarfful was not so great, either.  If Hasbro can get around to these Wookiees in a fashion similar to Merumeru?  That would be fantastic!

Found a fresh case of these on the pegs at Target.  Nabbed the Plagueis... figure I could help out a local (and if they don't need him; a member).

I finally uncarded Merumeru from this wave yesterday.  And when I stood him up next to some ROTS era Wookiee Warrior figures, he's actually a little bit on the short side.  Either that, or the ROTS era Wookiee figures are just ridiculously tall.
