Watto's Junk Yard / Re: A Game of Thrones (HBO)

I don't suppose Conan Stevens will be back for season 3?  He was far better as Clegane.

It's not listed in his IMDB listing.  And that's unfortunate, because I found him to be far more menacing than the guy who played the Mountain in season 2.

The first In Production video has been posted for season 3 of Game of Thrones.  There are some interesting tidbits, including a first look at Ciaran Hinds in costume as Mance Rayder!

Also, I found out a little bit more regarding the change in actors for The Mountain, Ser Gregor Clegane.  The actor who played him in season 1, Conan Stevens, was booked on a couple of other jobs.  He was in at least one episode of Spartacus - Vengeance earlier this year.  And he was also cast as Bolg in The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey.  That's probably why we saw a different actor in that role for GoT season 2.

Star Wars Origins: Willrow Hood

I hear the original actor's quote may be too high, so an offer has gone out to SNL's Keenan Thompson for that role.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Brian's Toy Exclusive - Jocasta Nu
« on: December 4, 2012, 04:56 PM »
Time for a bump, anyone else curious why there has only been drips and drops of these shipping it seems?  I'm guessing maybe in part because Brian's Toys has to handle probably a lot of orders I'd imagine.

I have 3 on order...  none have shipped yet.  Little nervous.  :-\

On Spirit Of's point about $25 figures to get you obscurity...

Just checked the listing on the Brians Toys site.  The listing for Jocasta Nu currently states that the expected availability is January 31st, 2013.

What about the ******* Legion of Doom...how hard is this?  That is what made Superfriends so great...each character had a guy they always fought and would be totally epic.  Plus,  how much sense does one bad guy against 5 or 6 good guys make?

QFT

Just look at the animated Super Friends series and how that progressed.  It started with single villains / crises and the original 5 Super Friends.  Then they expanded the ranks and started bringing in some more heroes.

THEN enter the Legion of Doom, and that was one of the best runs that the show had.  That was called Challenge of the Super Friends IIRC.  There was a nice wide variety of vilains, and it worked well.

A few years later they went down the Darkseid / Apokolips road during the Super Powers era.  But there was a progression in the series that ultimately led to this.  If DC / Warner Bros try to force this, it's probably going to fall flat the way the Green Lantern movie did.

DC & Warners really need more closely at how Marvel laid the groundwork leading up to Avengers.  That being the involvement of a Kevin Feige type exec / producer who knows the source material and will make the right decisions in the projects that eventually lead up to a team-up film like Justice League.

TV-9D9 / Re: The Clone Wars - Season Five Discussion Thread

Interesting episode.  Featuring astromechs like that is always good in my book.  The Pit Droid was *SLIGHTLY* reminiscent of the Pit Droids from TPM and their slapstick antics, but provided that dialogue foil that the Colonel needed in the episode.

I liked the scene in the Jedi situation room.  The Jedi cameos were cool, as was seeing that Clone who bore a striking resemblance to Commander Neyo from ROTS.

Middle Earth / Re: The Hobbit - Toy Line

Finally saw all 5 of the 6" scale figures myself.  These look like they'll mesh nicely with the Toy Biz LOTR line.  Although Gandalf looks a good bit different from the FOTR versions we saw.

It's also a shame that websites go overboard on their watermarks.

When you can't even read the text on the boxes, it really is a bit much.

The Vintage Collection / Re: TRU Exclusive Endor Big AT-AT
« on: November 30, 2012, 03:40 PM »
No, they were in the case on the top shelf... I assumed they were Endor sets because they had price stickers on the case that said "Endor AT-AT."

I did go back to the same TRU the other day and ALL the AT-ATs were gone, including the old 2010 ones they had on the bottom shelf.

Hmmm.  The markings on the case itself would probably be the best indicator of which version of the AT-AT was in those cases.  The price stickers are generated by TRU's computer system, and it might not accurately reflect what was in the actual case.

Here's the Galactic Hunter article about the Endor AT-AT:

Quote
Hasbro announced that this was slated for an October release at Comic-Con, and while the Endor AT-AT was released at ToysRUs Canada (at a $149.99 CDN pricepoint), it has yet to show up on U.S. shelves for the holiday shopping season, raising speculation that it may have been bumped to next spring. Why the bump? Perhaps TRU needed a spring exclusive, and with the blue boxed AT-AT readily available online and in stores and the Vintage BMF being the huge exclusive ship of the season for the retailer, it may not be a bad move. There's still a chance this may show up in the next few weeks, but it's looking more like it's been held back.

That's speculation on GH's part.  But until we actually see it in store they may be onto something.  Either way, it would be strange to see TWO different AT-AT's on store shelves at this time, and it would also be a little odd to see it in the spring when the new line look gets launched.

Mods: Didn't see a thread for this, so if there is one, I apologize

These are hitting TRUs I guess, as I saw cases of them on the top shelf at my local "rich part of town" TRU today. Price was $129.99. I still need a Big AT-AT but might just buy one of the Hoth ones since they're the same price and I'm not that into the muddy paintjob.

Did you see it out of the case?  Because I still see cases of 2 x AT-AT's in TRU stores.  But those have all been in the SOTDS packaging.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Speculation
« on: November 29, 2012, 02:14 PM »
A trilogy that picks up where the OT left off seems like a natural progression.  Beyond that, I could also see Disney doing something akin to what's been done with the X-Men franchise:  produce character focused spin-offs like the Wolverine movies.  And I suspect that we'll probably see something like that with Boba Fett.

Disney did pay $4 BILLION for the franchise.  I suspect that they want to monetize ownership of Star Wars as much as possible, and that's got to mean LOTS of Star Wars films.

The modern film franchise model has changed remarkably over the past few years.  The Harry Potter film franchise in particular generated 8 films and grossed over $7 Billion worldwide.  Disney has to be looking at what Warner Brothers did with the HP franchise as a model for how they might handle Star Wars going forward.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: A thread about concerts.
« on: November 28, 2012, 04:37 PM »
A little late in adding this one, but last month I got to attend Love for Levon at the New Jersey Meadowlands.  It was a tribute to the late singer & drummer of The Band, Levon Helm.  Levon passed during the spring, but his dying wish was that his friends and family keep his Woodstock, NY barn / studio running, along with the series of performances called the Midnight Ramble.

This was really an amazing experience, and one of the more moving concerts I've ever attended!  Especially when you look at the roster of artists who turned up:

•Roger Waters (Pink Floyd)
•John Mayer
•My Morning Jacket
•Eric Church
•Ray LaMontagne
•Dierks Bentley
•Joe Walsh (The Eagles, The James Gang)
•Gregg Allman (The Allman Brothers Band)
•Grace Potter (Grace Potter & The Nocturnals)
•Garth Hudson of The Band
•Marc Cohn
•Jakob Dylan (The Wallflowers)
•Mike Gordon (Phish)
•Warren Haynes (The Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule)
•John Hiatt
•Bruce Hornsby
•Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna)
•The Levon Helm Band
•John Prine
•Robert Randolph (Robert Randolph & The Family Band)
•Mavis Staples (The Staples Singers)
•Lucinda Williams
•Don Was

The whole show was recorded, and I expect that it's going to be released on BluRay / DVD some time in the next year.  Proceeds from the concert went to helping keep Levon's barn going.

I have to find them first, you know.

I understand...  ;)  Plus I know you are busy with much more important things as well (or will be).  ;D

NP!

Definitely very busy, but I squeezed in a visit to 2 x 5 Belows.  No Gammies yet.
