Title: Clone Wars Maquettes
Post by: Angry Ewok on April 16, 2004, 10:46 PM
From StarWars.com :
Gentle Giant Ltd. is proud to capture the combined visions of George Lucas and Genndy Tartakovsky in three dimensions with the stylized, porcelain/resin Clone Wars micro-series maquettes. Animators often use maquettes such as these as a reference tool when maintaining character consistency. This finite series will debut in August with the release of Yoda (standing 4.5 inches tall) and continue in September with the dark new female wielder of the lightsaber -- Asajj Ventress. Future characters include Obi-Wan Kenobi (in clone trooper armor), the ARC Trooper Captain, and Padmé Amidala.

So what does everyone think about these? While I dislike the whole Sam.Jack/anime style of the cartoons, I can't help but think that Obi-Wan looks freaking awesome. I may pick one up, depending on price - I only wish they'd make a more realistic version of these, like Unleashed figures... That'd be cool.

i don't know... i love them. i have the samurai jack maquettes that cartoon network did, and they are awesome. the only thing that bothers me about these is the size. i read that yoda is like 4" tall... i know he's small and all, but that's kinda lame. the samurai jack ones are like 12" tall, and they are awesome. i'm sure the asajj, obi-wan and padme are going to be bigger, but i think that yoda is going to be way tiny.

I'm addicted to this line and will be jumping all over the Clone Wars Maquettes as well. GG's stuff is top notch and they look great on display! :)

They look very cool.  Why I don't really like the cartoon figures, these look outstanding!

these are awsome!! what is their size?

You can get the size information from SWS.com but I think Asajj was 12 inches in total.  I don't think Obi-wan's or Padme's size has been revealed yet but it should be around 10" or so.  If the price point stays the same for Obi-wan and Padme as it is for Asajj, I'll be getting these two only.

I only wish they'd make more action figures of the cartoon. :-\

When is Padme coming out? I am surprised that the Arc came up for pre-order before her. I've got a complete set pre-ordered. They seem to be putting out the best ones last. Hopefully we'll get one or two more in addition to Padme.

Oh...I have to have this one!!!  Rebelscum posted this from Comic Con and I hope it's ok to re-post it here just because it's the first picture of her.  I like the cape and the pose, hoping for more 'face-on' shots in the next couple of days.

actually, a friend of mine owns a comic shop and i just do all my pre-orders with him. actually, it was more like a conversation a few years ago that went something like "hey pete, whenever something new comes out star wars related, just order it for me."

so it might be available for an "official" pre-order yet  :D

Padme hasn't turned up in Diamond Previews, so it doesn't appear to be up for pre-order just yet.  It's just as well that it's NOT ready for pre-order, since Gentle Giant has almost flooded the market with product this year.

Placed my order too & hopefully it will all work out. Dave gets another parcel from them to ship to me. No way in hell I'm paying (FedEx International Economy - $21.95) when I get $8.95 to Dave & sent up here plus alittle more on shipping. I would get nailed on customs big time!  :-\

I used my $50. gift certificate & it cost me $38.94 thus far!  :P

Just hope they correct that billing addy that changed after I placed my order!  ::)

Thats is my last order with SWShop, they just plain suck!  >:(

It took forever to order this!!  I had to try three frickin' times before it finally went through.  This is the one I have been waiting for so I hope it really does ship in November, I should have all five by the end of the year then.

Site still says ships Dec 16th. It's still in my order history & no shipping confirmation thus far. Yeah, maybe a slight delay getting her.  :-\

My card was charged yesterday but I still haven't received any shipping confirmation on Padme yet.  I used ground shipping so I doubt I will get her until after Christmas (which is fine, the cat already over bought on me again this year ;D ).

Yup, same here.  Downside is that she is scheduled to arrive by Fed-Ex on Friday and our office will be closed.  I guess I'll have to wait until next Monday but at least I'll have the set before the end of the year!! ;D

Anyone here going to collect the two statue lines, or the maquettes?

I'd definitely recommend the Clone Wars maquettes, they are FANTASTIC. I'm really looking forward to the two scales of statues as well.

Nice pics of the Padme (both of you).  Really looks like a nice piece to have in your collection.  Seeing that really makes me wish that Hasbro would have included a figure of this in the Clone Wars Animated line (along with Obi in Armor).  Anyways, nice!
