Saga '02-'04 / Re: Random Thoughts
« on: October 1, 2003, 01:06 PM »
Ah, the good 'ol Kenner days.  The one version of each figure in a particular outfit idea was one of their best.  Of course, collectors should carry the blame for the endless resculpts we get nowadays.  Hasbro will pump out the 20th version of Maul, Jango, Anakin, and R2, and collectors will be there to gobble it all up.  I mean, when did R2 or Chewie change outfits?!  As far as resculpts are concerned, a resculpt should only be made if it is a significant improvement.  I don't know, I just feel that for every n-th version of the same character we get, it's a cheated opportunity at having an unmade character/alien made.  However, with figs like General Riekkan on the horizon, things are looking up....

With the exception of the Death Star Gunner & TIE-Fighter Pilot, most of the orange carded POTF2 stuff was horrible.  The figures were too buff, the proportions were way off, the likeness was poor, etc.  It wasn't until 1997 (green carded era) that Hasbro started pumping out some real nice stuff.  I'm still very fond of most of my POTF2 collection, particularly the stuff made from the freeze frame era and on.  Hasbro seems to have hit their mark with POTJ.  Saga is a great line, but there is still plenty of room for improvement.  Action features should be banned forever.  Metal lightsabers with removable blades should be a standard, and the lightsaber handle should be attachable to the fig's belt.  Jedi figs should have the ability to hold a lightsaber with both hands.  Dynamic poses should only be used when necessary.  Using gummy plastic/cheap materials for making accessories/figures should be a big no-no.  I guess sometimes simpler is better.  Maybe that's why vintage figs have so much appeal.  :)

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: ANIMATED cartoon CW figures coming?

I think they are horrible.  Why did they give Anakin a pompadour and Hammer-pants?  Ice Ice Baby Anakin looks pretty crappy.  Of course, Obi-Wan is the worst one of the bunch (IMO).  The figure looks more like Richard Chamberlain (the way he appeared in Shogun) than Ewan McGregor.  No thanks.

Damn.  I'm nowhere even close to that amount!  Aside from the lettuce and tomatoes in my various sandwiches and burgers, I'm lucky if I ever eat any fruits or vegies.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Screen Scenes: first wave vs. the second wave

Do you think we will ever see the first sets again?  I was thinking about picking up the second war room the next time I see it, but I'd want to have the first one to go with it :).

You might want to check TRU.  I spotted the first wave there last week, so it seems that the first wave is shipping again.  Of course, at TRU, they are priced at $21.99 (versus Target's price of $19.99).

That's great news!  Congrats!  I hope that the next few months go by smoothly.

BTW, shouldn't the title be "OCB = Dad*2?"  I mean, if Dad = 1, then 1^2 = 1.  ;)

I like Punch Out, but I can never get past King Hippo.   :-[  Any hints?

When he raises both arms, you hit him in the face and his boxing shorts fall down. Then you just keep throwing body blows at his bandaged area. If you knock him down once, he's finished. :)

Thanks for the tip!  Of course, now I'm stuck on Bald Bull.  Man, I hate it when he does that stupid bull charge move.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Any chance we'll see any red ARC Trooper figs?
« on: September 24, 2003, 02:14 AM »
Being that there was a red ARC Trooper in the latest Clone Wars cartoon trailer, any chance Hasbro will make a red ARC Trooper figure (or any other color)?

Has anyone spotted Egg Nog in the dairy aisle yet?

Great topic.  Yep, I still have one.  Some of my favorite games include Burgertime, Elevator Action, Q*Bert, Popeye, and Gradius.  I like Punch Out, but I can never get past King Hippo.   :-[  Any hints?

It's a bit tricky, but Luke fits in there along with the Tauntaun's guts

I thought we were getting an ultra-articulated Clone Trooper figure?   ???

I found the Hoth set yesterday and picked it up.  My Tauntaun came with a broken horn (Luke's Tauntaun).  I was a little disappointed with the split-belly feature, being that the plastic is kinda hard and closes up to its original position right away.  It's hard to fit a figure in the belly, let alone the delicate guts.  The Leia fig sucks, but the others are alright (especially the droid).  It's definitely the best set out of the three (versus Imperial Forces & Bounty Hunters).

Saga '02-'04 / Screen Scenes: first wave vs. the second wave
« on: September 12, 2003, 10:47 AM »
I spotted the second wave of screen scenes last night at Target.  I picked up the second Geonosian War Chamber set (my table is complete, YAY) but passed on the Jedi Council set (again).  I like the second Geo set much more than the first since all three figs included in the 2nd set are top notch (IMO).  The sculpts are great, and the Passel Argente fig kicks major booty.  The first set was somewhat of a letdown since Poggle was the only "great" looking fig.  In regards to the second Jedi Council set, I like the first set better.  The holes under Yaddle's feet look absolutely horrible and Yarael Poof could've been much better.  Anyway, which wave do you like better?

Damn, based on the title, I thought you were in Texas and passed the Crawford Ranch.  Silly me.   ;D
