LOTR Minimates have been found in California, according to this report:

LOTR Minimates Found in California

These are the four packs, with three showing and one hidden figure.  The article does list who is in each of the two packs that were found (including hidden figures).

Man, quite a game by the Pistons last night.  The Lakers can blame it on whatever they want, but boy those guys can play some defense.  I'm not the biggest Pistons fan in the world, but I can really appreciate the way those guys just flat out work.  They play a great team game, and each and every one of them defends as best they can.  I really didn't think they had a prayer in these finals going in, but it might be at least possible after seeing their performances so far.  All due respect to the Lakers (and Kobe's amazing shot in Game 2), but this could very easily be a 3-0 series at this point, and maybe should have been.  I'm glad it has been competitive, and that the Pistons are putting up a much better showing than the "experts" predicted.  I hope it continues.

I didn't see Kobe's comments on playing with Steph and the Knicks.  I am really curious to see what will happen with this Lakers team once the finals is over and done with.  I really don't know if I see Payton coming back, he has played terrible and seems quite unhappy.  Malone is starting to have consistent injury troubles, and should maybe consider retirement (although I think deep down he wants that scoring record).  Not sure about Phil or Kobe, but there's a chance both could end up leaving (or at least one).  Shaq should be one piece that is in place next season for sure, although he wants a new deal.  Could be a Lakers lineup of Fisher, Rush, George, Medvedenko, and Shaq next year :P

Although these sets are a little older, I see that Amazon has the Urban Legends ($9.98) and X-Men Legends ($14.98) box sets on sale now if anyone is interested.

I know what you mean Brent, I was looking them over yesterday again too.  We made a Wal-Mart run (and also stopped at TRU, since it is right next door)...no new Star Wars, so I took a close look at the Lord of the Rings sections.  I was very close to picking up KOTD, Armored Merry, and the Morgul Lord WK, but my wife is holding strong that we don't need anymore of these invading the house.   I'm still working on it.  :)  I did see the TABA set (several) at TRU for $30 too, they had a lot of other multi-packs there (Heroes, Ring-bearers, Ringwraiths, Mount Doom).  On that note, what do people think of the Frodo/Sam included in the Mordor set?  Would those be good versions to pick up, or wait for the upcoming ones?

On another LOTR note, I see that Action-Figure.com has several pictures up of the Mouth of Sauron set, you can check them out here:

I'm really happy to hear about this too, especially with some longer running times.  I thought that the first season was pretty cool, even though it did have its cheezy moments, and I really did enjoy it.  Like it was said above, it is a nice way to lead into Episode III too.  I'm up for some more animated figures too, I kind of liked the first 8 we got...something a little "different" for the collection if nothing else.

Saw an interesting post by an Interesting poster wondering aloud if Marvel is looking to get in the Block Figure game and might not renew the license on Minimates.

That is interesting Scott, that could certainly change some things.  I'm with you, I like Wolvie and all, but I'm not overly excited about those either.

On a different minimate note, how do those of you got the Sauron minimate feel about it?  I have been thinking about ordering it online (anyone know how much shipping is on it?), but haven't pulled the trigger yet.  I have been tempted by this line (and the regular LOTR line as well), and this would be a chance for me to actually get in at the beginning for once, instead of deciding half way through the line :P.  Anyways, just wondering what everyone thought of it...and aren't the TRU packs supposed to be coming in July-ish (at least I hope they will be at retail stores such as TRU, otherwise I doubt I'll jump on board)?

Edit:  Also, ActionFigureExpress seems to have Waves 1 and 2 up for preorder (although most probably already knew that).  These are the 2 packs though.  It looks like there should at least be 20 "different" figures to start with, which is nice.

WAVE 1 - Legolas & Gimli, Gandalf the White & King Theoden, Saruman & Wormtongue, Frodo & Uruk-Hai Swordsmen, and Aragorn & Uruk-Hai Berserker

WAVE 2 - Gollum & Samwise Gamgee, Boromir & Merry, Pippin & Uruk-Hai, Grishnakh & Orc Scout, and Twilight Frodo & Aragorn (Rivendale repaint)

Thanks for the advice Brent.  I guess a lot of the reason I was looking at the TABA set was the value aspect too.  From w hat I have read around the web, it seems like most people prefer the armored versions of the hobbits (particularly Merry/Pip) to the ones included in that set too.  I'd kind of just like to get a nice, maybe even best, representative version of each of the hobbitses, as well as some other characters.  Is everyone here pretty much in agreement that the armored Pippin and Merry are the best ones of those characters?  I know both are available around town here, and they might be my next purchases in this line if possible.  I wanted to make sure to get the most representative versions of each, should I go back and try to pick up the TT two pack of them instead?  Just curious what everyone's opinions were.  I'm thinking about holding out for the upcoming versions of Frodo and Sam, hopefully they are good ones.  It seems like Toy Biz (and most companies) usually have a history of getting better as they go along, so hopefully they will be the best versions when they come out.

wouldn't it be nice for them to post a few surprises every now and again?

I agree, that would really be nice.  I'm glad to see them updating a little more frequently now too.  I was really hoping we might get another "vintage spotlight" feature this week, since we've been having 1-2 per week the last few weeks.  Plus, last week's Vader update said "check back later for pics of vintage Vader carded", and that still hasn't happened.

I've kind of been thinking about picking this up as well, and I hope to.  I did get the POTF2 version on clearance, and had a vintage one that was passed down from my cousins to me, to my brother, and resides at my parents house.  I'm glad there are at least a few changes (light up back, bigger cockpit) to make it different from the POTF2 version I have displayed now.  I really like the idea that Jeff has mentioned having this new Falcon, along with VOTC Han and Chewie all displayed together.

Thanks Brent...I always appreciate the offers for help....I might take you up on that at some point.  Right now any extra collecting cash will be going towards LOTR, if I can get my wife talked into that.  I did always think it would be cool to have a Homer though, thanks again, I'll let you know.

Especially with most of the first 3 Waves being rereleased this Summer at TRU.

That is good to hear that some are going to be re-released, I hadn't heard that yet.  I always wanted to get a couple Simpsons figures, like a "regular" Homer and a Ralph Wiggum.  Hopefully those will be a couple that find their way to the shelves.  Too bad this line is ending, especially for those of you who have collected throughout, but it kind of looks like they have covered almost everyone...pretty good run.

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: SWS.com Exclusive Figure
« on: June 9, 2004, 09:29 AM »
I'm concerned that it will just be a re-release of the craptastic Saga Emperor as well, although I really hope that isn't the case.  You would think that they would have to have something a little bit "spiffier" for their "super secret fantasmo unbelievable super terrific exclusive figure", but seeing all the rereleased stuff coming this year it is hard to get past that.  If they did do a VOTC version of the Emperor as the exclusive, with softgoods and a great sculpt, it would be pretty cool though....another nice nod to the vintage days with that mail in offer.  Hopefully we'll get some more details on this soon.
