Other Toy Lines / Re: Chap Mei

Interesting.  I didn't realize these were at TRU.

What's up with the little sled thing?  Does it run on batteries or some such since it's so oversized?  I'd dig it for customs maybe if it did work I think.  I've not seen these but there's maybe good customs potential with some of those.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Geonosis Wave
« on: February 11, 2006, 03:53 AM »
These showed up here too, but only two cases again...  So stores with basically little or no figures on pegs are getting not a whole lot.  TRU is crammed to the gills with Carkoon though, I hadn't been there in a while and I was shocked to see everything...

Targets are STARTING to back up with Hoth but that's it...  And WM has nothing at any store short of a Bib or a few figs from that wave.  I'm surprised there isn't a big shipment hitting these stores to fill pegs...  Target's getting there though it seems.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Boring characters... but want to see made.
« on: February 11, 2006, 03:48 AM »
I love Ewoks, not boring at all!  :)

Figures I'd like that ARE boring and I want made though...

-Vintage Imp. Dignitary...  Guy is as fun as burnt toast but I want one.
-Rebel Fleet Technician...  Yavin Tech's with a headset and removable helmet and tools.
-Hoth Rebel Technician...  The Hoth version, duh.
-Imperial Technician...  Am I the only one wanting this guy resculpted and released with two head variants and nice articulation?  The buff guy just doesn't cut it to me.
-New Spirit-Of Yoda & Anakin...  Ben needs company.
-Nein Numb...  I'm maybe in the minority but he needs resculpted to me.
-Human Cantina Snitch...  Garrouf Lafoe, the guy that rats on Obi-Wan's handy work.  Boring yes, but I want one.
-Cantina Midget...  Boring, but why not?  Pack him with a drunk Jawa and I'm a happy camper.
-McQuarrie Chewbacca...  The Chewbacca concept art is so freaky it'd be a whole new alien to me, I need that figure.  Boring though to most people I think.
-New Bespin Guard...  Bespin Guards are cool and I'm a big army building fan, but they're boring since they did nothing really.  They need a new one with some more articulation, a neutral pose, and a closed jacket.
-R5 Repaints...  Again, how "cool" are they really?  But I'd like the Orange MOs Eisley one and the red/black Rebel one.  Too complex to paint myself for sure.

That's classic stuff that's boring that I want...  Not a lot, but enough to keep me happy.  :)

Oh and add Owen to that list.  He's dull, but needs redone at this point, and needs his prequal version with Beru too, and his gimpy old man.

these will be prized variations for the die-hard Star Wars collector

No they won't...  These will be something that only the "Must have one of everything" crowd will care about getting and they'll begrudge every second they spend hunting for this lame-assed attempt by Hasbro to invigorate a line they themselves have let slide since prior to Christmas.

Stop doing dumb stuff like this gimmick and instead just get stuff out there that people want at a quality level that's competitive.  Stop trying to do stupid gimmicks that only make the line a big headache for some collectors, and try to instead please the consumer more with product THEY WANT.

Christ almighty, loosen your fingers on your company wallet and put out something quality that people can find...  Don't just paint **** silver, limit it, and piss everyone off that actually wants it.

I could give a rat's ass myself but at the same time I scratch my head that they're putting any extra effort into this stuff and yet they let the line as a whole slip in quality overall and raise in price.  But that "UGH" promotion they put so much thought into and hype it as nothing but:

"Scalper Fiesta '06:  Scalper's Gone Wild!...  Now you too can enjoy the lovely smell of Big MAC's and French Fries in the toy aisle as you fight to find your favorite toys alongside some fat ******bag leering at you as you try to find a Clone for your kid!  This crap's not just for Hot Wheels maroons anymore!"

I'm with speedermike in that this seems a bit dull.

Chirpa and Jerjerrod look like welcomed additions and a new Death Star Gunner is ok.  I'm loving the VOTC myself.  I can't tell on the cloak of the Tusken that Bill Cosby mentioned being poofy, not by the pic there, but Han looks a bit clearer and really quite nice at least from far away.  I can't wait for those at least...  Gives me something limited to really look forward to.

I'm a big Ewok fan too so Chripa rocks, I just wish they'd do Ewok army builders using Teebo's body and Wicket's hood with a plethora of random weapons (clubs, spears, axes, slings, bows, quivers, etc.).  Include multiple hoods of different colors and Teebo bodies in different fur colors/patterns and to me you've got probably one of the best quality army builders of all time in the line despite the character's dubious popularity.

I'm an Ewok fan though, bring on more I say. :)

But...  Yeah, there's just not a lot there to go wow over.  And if that's the POTF2 Weequay there then who honestly gives a ****?

I see a whole lot of commentary around the net about how Hasbro's re-releases are smart and things, yet figures like the Weequay were never popular on the pegs so I don't get when they make a reappearance in anything be it a battlepack or basic card.

It's like the Saga HOF wave with Bacara over a properly decoed Bly...  Makes NO sense since more people want and need Bly, and it's tough to say one is more popular than the other as a character other than to say that Bly was a bitch for a lot to find, especially with the right paintjob...  And a lot of the rest of that wave just weren't BIG sellers or have better figures Hasbro could release as the true "Hall of Fame" that people want.

Whatever though, this company's proven absolutely nothing logical to me.

I was at TRU tonight and it's wall-to-wall Carkoon here...  Safe to say the pegwarming has begun in my area.  Hoth's abundant at Target, and I'm seeing stuff sit at Wal-Mart...  I'm getting to the point the ROTS hype is done and Hasbro's gonna shoot itself in the foot with the line if they're not careful how they handle ****.

Me too...  I've become a fan of the ship's sculpt since I found it to be to-scale when I got it on clearance so I'm all for repaints of it.  I don't get why Kit's is purple like Mace's though but whatever.

Not a shabby price there either.

I'm a bit miffed they advertise the Lucas as "vintage style" when it isn't.  More out of principle than what it is they're offering.  I'm likely gonna get a case of these just so I'm covered on some of them, but I'm really REALLY hoping these are mixed in down the road so Scouts and Tuskens somehow outnumber the others in distribution.  Even cases are cool right now, but down the road we all know the two taht will be a big pain to find.  :(

The new pics make Han look a ton better to me...  Albeit from a distance.

I like the 70's era headscuplt. That's cool.

I guess I'll skip the complaining and be glad that I don't need more than one of these.

I couldn't have said it better Jared...

I'm all for a VOTC Stormtrooper, but not if it's got a removable helmet with Lucas underneath.  For me, if it saves them a couple bucks to cheap out on a Lucas figure that isn't in the movie (IE: not Popanoida), then I could give a **** what sculpt they used.  It could've been the POTF2 figure for all I care, and it would've made it that much more comical to me actually.  This figure just doesn't interest me as anything but a novelty, kinda like silver figures and crap like that.

If it was the VOTC Stormie I'd probably be mad taht they'd use the sculpt for a give-away but not put the f'n thing out on a basic card in droves for people to army build.

Now if they were just giving away Stormtroopers, I'd want VOTC all the way...  Army builder's dream the day that happens.

I'm actually up for probably two of these sets if I can find them...  This'll be one I track down via DPCI so I'm not missing out on it just incase.

The set's not a knock-out but the red ARC Sergeant looks pretty spiffy to me despite inaccurate pistols.  I'm ok with that.  The re-used CW Clones are a bit ****** and how hard would it have been to use a regular SA Clone mold and stick a Kama on it, seriously?  Seems rather half-assed, but at the same time I'm not gonna gripe too much on those grunts.

The Mini-Gunner is cool just because it's different to me, so I like it despite inaccuracies.  I may try my hand at a Pom-Pom Gunner then at some point, but the mini-gunner looks really cool to me for some reason.  I do think this set will do better than the Assault on Coruscant set what with the Clone Wars toon Gunship coming.  It's the perfect thinking on Hasbro's part despite a rather half-assed effort ons ome of the figures.

I think most would have liked a SA ARC Trooper resculpt in the basic line actually.  One of the more popular characters.  The CW figure sold pretty darn well in both colors in my area, and red was pretty impossible to find overall.

I locked it down Spectre, we've already got a hefty discussion going on in another thread.  Plus that news was on our front page a lot of yesterday!  Gotta read that front page guys! ;)

Here's the 2006 International Toy Fair thread to check out.  Enjoy!  Already got people picking the incredibly limited "new" stuff out of the photos.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...
« on: February 11, 2006, 03:07 AM »
On an Ani Evolutions note I got one tonight at Suncoast for retail after a 20% markdown from their pricehike.

They  are I guess closing shop around Pittsburgh, at least all but one store maybe, so good for me but bad for the area since Suncoast was the only place with bust-ups in any capacity anymore.  Kind of a bummer.

The Bullpen / Toy Biz Marvel Monster thing? Question
« on: February 10, 2006, 01:37 AM »
OK, so I have a question...

I got this weird little green frog-ish monster with 4 legs, it has a fin on its back you push and its mouth opens and closes.  It has a tail too...  It's green with darker green spots.

Not a good description, I know.

It has "1998 Marvel Toy Biz Inc." stamped on bottom of one foot.

I'm curious what this creature is from exactly...  If I could get a pic of it up I would...  Can someone help by description?

It's a monster on 4 legs, not a "figure"...  The legs pose, the jaw opens when you push one of its fins on its back as I noted.  Looks froggish to me.  I'm curious what's up with this though.  I got it in a box of parts I wanted, and wanted this in particular out of the box but can't for the life of me figure this out.

I'm wondering what's up with the spotty shipments too.  I've seen nothing that would tell me that more than 2 cases per store have shown anywhere.  Even a new WM Superstore that opened had only 2 cases of Carkoon out opening day...  Very odd.
