Title: Walmart Black Series 3.75" Wave 3
Post by: Jeff on September 23, 2015, 01:48 PM
Walmart links have been updated with pics!

- Han Solo (http://www.walmart.com/ip/46173533)
- Rey (Jakku) (http://www.walmart.com/ip/46173523)
- Poe Dameron (http://www.walmart.com/ip/46173527)
- Finn (Jakku) (http://www.walmart.com/ip/46173526)

Not sure if these four are all in Wave 3 or if one of them will be pushed to Wave 4...

I guess I should have figured Han was going to be a repack (since Luke, Chewie, and Vader were), but I was secretly wishing it'd be Ep7 Old Han. :(

Why does Han Solo's box have a picture of David Duchovny on it?

The joints where Poe and Finn's legs hit their hips look awful.

I don't know, but I bet the truth is out there somewhere.

Much better than the 5POA figs IMHO. Too bad about the Han, but I'm psyched otherwise.

*Crosses fingers* please don't not hard to get!

I'm with Ant...  Much better than the 5 POA...  I'm also with Rob. I'm only a fan of super duper articulation on certain figures, and those figures do not include anyone in cloth for the most part unless the cloth can easily hide a joint like Pilot Obi-Wan back in the day.

Barrel chested Han looked like ass when he was a VTSC figure, and looks like ass again.  Too many repacks will nosedive this experiment I'm afraid.  Hopefully easy to order online and ship to store.   :-\  I really REALLY want all those TFA figures, and a couple stormtroopers and Poes.  Maybe even an extra Finn.

I'm not a fan of hip articulation on anyone but troopers though...  armored troopers.  Jedi to some degree because they look cool posed extreme, but I'm not a fan of it on "mains".  GI Joe articulation is like a microman at this point, but I don't collect Joes...  Hasbro's "SA" on Star Wars was more than sufficient to me, and appreciated.  This may be a way of them adding value though with the increased costs...  who knows.

No BB8 pack-in?  Boo.  Finn should have him. :)

Look at everything Rey has compared to the others...  yowza.  Extra head, backpack, etc.  Crazy.  THAT is a $13 figure folks!  :)

I'd dare say Poe's design looks much better than Finn's does...  At the hip joints there anyway.  But yeah I want me a couple Poe figs for customs.  Even at $13.  :-X

Han...  ugh.  Why not give us VOTC Han at least.  He's a far superior figure to the Endor Han they keep plopping out here and there.  Hell they didn't even include the better headsculpt from the mutli-pack during BAD.  His coat was the only thing I ever appreciated about him. :-\

Hell, throw us TBS Han Carbo with the vest and pistol belt...  it'd still be better.

Is it confirmed that the Han is a straight VTSC repack?

Is it confirmed that the Han is a straight VTSC repack?

Based on those pics, it looks like the slightly retooled VC62 Endor Han (which was a tweaked version of the VTSC Endor Han).

When are these supposed to be available?

Wave 2 is supposed to be out in October, so depending on how those do, maybe November/December?  Just a guess...

Like others, I really REALLY hope these aren't too tough to get a hold of. I'd like to get all of the Force Awakens figures, and maybe a couple extras if possible. They all look nicely done, although from this picture I almost think that the head sculpt on the 5 POA Finn might be better than this one. Other than that, great though. I'm happy to see them hit the figures that really need the added articulation first, main characters and troops. I believe I heard on a podcast that 12 or 16 figures are expected for this line, they could probably cover TFA pretty well then.

Around me, Wave 1 is selling...  be it the lack of other stuff on the shelves at WM or whatever, but Wave 1 is down to 2 figures at my nearest Wally so that's good.  The general fervor to buy something Star Wars is maybe helping.

It's funny though that my K-Mart has restocked Wave 1 TFA figures 3 times or more now, but Wal-Mart and Target seem like they haven't done jack since Force Friday.  KM sold out, and just keeps putting out more, regularly.

I am growing concerned about the availability of this line. There are five Walmarts between where I live and I work and I have yet to even catch one of the wave 1 figures in a store. I have a set coming via the website, but I'm not looking forward to the goo-gone surgery I'm going to have to perform on them.  >:(

I hope the follow-up waves are easier to find...

Hell, I can't find any figures on the pegs.  The worst part is my oldest son's 5th birthday is next week and he loves stormtroopers!

Luckily, I found a couple online for him.

According to Wal-Mart (via Jedi Temple Archives), the few out there now were intended for force friday, but more of waves one along with wave two will arrive in October. http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/content/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=16276/#details (http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/content/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=16276/#details)

Gotta say the 3.75" TBS figures look pretty damn amazing.  All of them.

Was looking at some niche "collector" 4" stuff last night...  You're looking at anywhere from $20-$30 for a figure in these small run lines.  And when I say small run, they're probably still significant production numbers, but nowhere near a Hasbro figure's numbers.  So the current price probably isn't as absurd as one thinks, but it made me wonder, if it were to go up for some reason, how badly I'd love to see something like a Sideshow figure done in 3.75" scale...  Not saying all softgoods stuff, but all the extra hands, heads, etc.  There are things I'd be willing to pay more for, I think.  :-X

Found partials of this wave recently, so now I have a nice articulated Finn and Poe Dameron.  Too bad the 3.75" modern X-Wing was such a letdown...  The Poe figure is quite nice, but I hate to put it into a sub-par vehicle :P

Had absolutely no luck finding wave 2 and I was resigned to ordering online. Sure, it's still a waste of time since they don't apparently stock, but at least I'm not burning gas on the Wally detours.

But today I heard the cries and drove by before work. Surprise, Surprise.

The midichlorians have awakened in me.

Must be partially the paint apps, but wow... Han is downright po'd in the ones I saw.

SF Bay Area.

I cracked these open and I have to say that it's so hard to believe that the main line is now 5 POA. These are just so nicely done that it makes me strongly consider dumping the 5 POA line and focus on the Black series.

I'm looking forward to receiving Poe, Rey and Fin from JediJMan. Wave 3 hasn't been spotted in New England yet. We had plenty of wave 2 on the pegs and was able to grab 5 storm troopers for the trade.

I hadn't really been planning on grabbing the 3-3/4" TBS figures, but I couldn't resist when I saw them on the pegs at WM.  I'm keeping them carded/boxed for now with my Kylo Ren and Stormtroopers.

All I have seen is this wave at walmart. I haven't seen Kylo Ren, stormtrooper and Leia yet. It's funny how two walmarts can price these at $12.95 and $14.95 depending on location.

I'm looking forward to finding this wave that much more after having seen the movie.  But did Lucasfilm or Hasbro think it would have been too much of a spoiler to include the Skywalker lightsaber with either Finn or Rey?  Especially since Finn was featured with the saber in multiple trailers and tv spots.
Title: Re: Walmart Black Series 3.75" Wave 3

As much as I like Rey with a lightsaber I think she looks far cooler with the staff. Her accessories are actually impressive. I'm content having Finn holding his blaster, fits better than a lightsaber in my opinion. Maybe if they ever make Maz she can have the trunk with the un-ignited saber.

Has anyone had any luck finding this wave or have a spare of Finn, Rey, and/or Finn they'd be willing to sell?

I've stopped collecting 5POA entirely after the first wave and have decided that I will re-enter the game when Hasbro comes back with SA figures. It's really sad for me, because I've usually been adaptable to whatever Hasbro throws our way. 5POA was the final straw, though. With that, I've all in for the new Black Series sub-line, but it's obvious that Hasbro has no intention to let these succeed after Wave 3 (plus, it seems most Wallys aren't even allowed to order more figures past Wave 1).

I found wave 3 this morning, too.  Definitely good to finally have these in hand.  I picked up Rey, Finn and Poe.  I've got enough of those VTSC Han Solos from previous releases.

I have to wonder when we're going to see wave 4.  At least 3 or 4 listings were put up on the WalMart site, but we've yet to see those get revealed.  I would think that with the movie out we would at least know the names of these characters or see an image.

Still no sign of this wave in my neck of the woods. Checked about 5 different Walmarts around town and they're all the same, empty toy sections outside of one or two Micro Machine sets or Ninja Turtles figures. I even checked a few out of town WMs (where I scored Wave 2) over Christmas and they were exactly the same.

I wish they only gave to Rey or Finn the lightsaber to re-create the duel toward the end of the movie.

Was driving to meet some friends earlier when I had a hunch to stop and check a Walmart on the way... sure enough, I see pegs full of Wave 3. They had 4 each of every figure, plus some Kylos and FO Stormies. I ended up grabbing 2 Reys, Finn, Poe, an extra FO Stormie, and a 2nd Kylo to customize into a hoodless version. All had REALLY good paint apps except for the Reys. I couldn't find any that were perfect. The two that I got were close, but still have chips near the neck/clavicle.

Still, feels good to be done with this line (for now).

Have an extra Rey and Finn if anyone is interested. I'd like to trade them for the TBS Jawas and Imperial Navy Commando from last year but wouldn't be opposed to selling them for what I paid either. If nobody is interested I'm returning them.

I'm seeing that this wave is hitting with much more frequency than the Wave 2 case did. Which if you're looking purely for TFA characters, this is the case to find/get - with 2x of Kylo Ren, Finn, Rey & Poe, plus 1x of the FO Stormtrooper, it's definitely a good case from that standpoint. I would have thought that only 1 FO Stormtrooper per case would have been a bad thing, but so far, from my experience, the FO Stormtrooper seems to be the third most likely figure to still be sitting around when you find remnants of a case - with Luke being #1, Han being #2 and Kylo Ren being #4...

Not in my area...FO Stormtroopers are scarce.

Ditto.  That's the one that's always gone first in my experience.  Everyone wants multiple troops, but not so much of any of the other figures.  I'm planning to keep two Reys (mask on/mask off), but don't need multiples of anything else.

I've been kind of surprised to read on another(R) forum that people have complaints about the Rey figure.  Notably, that she has sculpted on gloves.  I noticed this when I opened the figure up, but it really is something of a negligible thing to gripe about.  I was actually a bit more surprised to see that you have to pop Rey's head off in order to put on the headwraps.  I'm actually tempted to pick up a second Rey to display with the headwraps on full time with her speeder.  This is such a better figure than the pack-in from that Class I deluxe vehicle set.

Yeah, locally speaking Kylo seemed to hang longer than the Stormie, but in the TFA basic line I'd say the opposite was true.  Kylo, both flavors, flew off pegs and Stormtroopers (which were more numerous with repacks to be fair) were fairly easy to get.  But Kylo not so much.

My gf picked up stragglers from another shipment of these for me while grocery getting.  I missed out on most of the Rey's and Stormtroopers I guess but got one of each and a couple more Poe and a Finny.

Finally cracked these open last night... my Poe has a cracked elbow joint. :( Made slightly funny because when I picked these up last week I got like 3 of each figure and wound up returning the duplicates, so I'm on the hunt again, haha.

But Rey, Finn, and Poe are great figures, and any gripes I have about them would be nitpicking. It's really hard to pick a favorite of the wave.

I haven't had any luck with these locally, but Pete_Fett was kind enough to help me out with a set of Rey/Poe/Finn.  They arrived yesterday, and boy are they pretty.  It really is too bad that this can't be a "wide" line, instead of an exclusive, but I guess at least we are getting them somehow.

I was ok with the 5 POA line, I thought they looked pretty good and appreciate the "toyness" of them as well, in a vintage sort of way (plus our daughter has been having a blast with them), but looking at these was a big reminder of the quality figures Hasbro can put out when they really go all out.  I definitely hope we continue getting them in some way, but it really is too bad that it couldn't be the "regular" line.  Still not crazy about the pricepoint, and wish it could get more in the $10 range at the least, but they sure are nice figures, I'll say that.

I used the baton/shield from the Amazon Troop set and used it on an SA stormtrooper. Great fit! Hasbro needs to re-release  a set of SA Stormtroopers with paldrons and these add-on weapons. They'd be foolish not to...Hasbro never makes bad decisions do they?

I've seen those higher prices.  It seems that Walmart.com is now trying to operate very much like Amazon, with the Walmart version of the Amazon marketplace dealer.  I noticed that Toynk.com is now one of those vendors who is selling through the Walmart site and was offering some 3.75" Black Series figures at higher prices.

Keep an eye out on that store JJ. Out here in the burbs of Chicagoland, a couple of stores marked the TBS figures on clearance. I had some luck finding a Poe and Finn for $5 last week, also got their Resistance X-Wing for $25 ( for the price a fun toy!)
