I had to make a run to Walgreens yesterday and decided to check in the toy section. Still had the same 2 Cassian and Jyn figures from 2016... only now they've raised the prices to the new standard $22.99. Guess they'll keep sitting there!

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: SW.com Bring Home the Bounty Reveals
« on: February 16, 2022, 11:47 AM »
They specifically talked characters who show up in new Disney+ shows turning up in the 3.75" or 6" figure lines, but Hasbro releases another rendition of that character.  It seems like it's deliberate based on things we've been seeing over the past year or so.  As if a "placeholder" figure will satisfy us.

I would assume that, like the movies, Disney lets Hasbro in on very little of the filming process. Remember when Hasbro said they had no idea what old Luke looked like until they watched the end of TFA? Could be the same thing here. And perhaps these other versions were already in the works; we know it takes something like 12-18 months for a figure to go from concept to release, and we're roughly a year removed from the Bad Batch's premiere. So Hasbro probably hasn't been able to plan a Live Action Bane until he showed up in the series 2 weeks ago. Of course I could be way overthinking this.

Woof, $100 for that Boba throne set? I get inflation and all but that's only $20 less than the last Jabba's palace set that caused all that anti-Muslim controversy a few years ago... and had double the pieces.

Cody has been going up for sale on Amazon and quickly selling out the last few days. I was able to grab one this morning. Good to finally get my hands on that one after Target refused to sell it to me last year.

I was okay with the Zaalbar kitbash because that Wookiee looked like Chewbacca.

This looks like trash.  Pass.

This is genuinely difficult for me to say.  Because I think the Wookiees are some of my favorite aliens in Star Wars.  I was all in on the Wookiees in Revenge Of The Sith.  And I was genuinely disappointed that we didn't get any of the Wookiees from the mines of Kessel in the SOLO 3.75" line.

When Hasbro is ready to make a GOOD Krrsantan in both the Vintage Collection or the Black Series, I'll be there.  But this is just lazy.

I was thinking about this earlier; it's really sad that I can't even find an excuse to buy this figure just to pop into a ROTS/Battle of Kashyyk display.

I mean, if they had just added ANY sort of paint apps to that bandolier, I'd be in for one.

Yep, if this were a few bucks cheaper I'd grab it, but I have the original, so I'm okay. I'm debating selling off my Bad Batch stuff anyway.

Wow, this is one of the laziest efforts I’ve ever seen from Hasbro. Repainted Chewie with a new belt/chest piece that they couldn’t even bother to add paint apps to. I’m thinking I can safely pass on this one.

Opening up the 6 inch figures saves TONS of space. I'm just beginning that journey. Plus, I get the nostalgia for carded TVC figures considering the history there. But is anyone really clamoring to keep 6 inch figures in the generic packaging?

I had to order mine from Big Bad Toy Store. I debated ordering a second, but at that price, one is good for now. I'll probably change my mind, but I'm somewhat holding out for a MAFEX or SH Figuarts version from Japan.

Other Toy Lines / Re: 2022: What Are You Collecting?
« on: February 3, 2022, 03:39 PM »
Pretty much the same thing as what I listed in 2021...

Star Wars - Black Series and any cool SH Figuarts or MAFEX offerings from Japan.

Marvel - Mostly Legends, with a focus on Spider-Man and his rogue gallery. I'm also going after X-Men stuff, particularly Jim Lee designs or anything based on the 90s Animated Series. The MAFEX comic line is fantastic in this regard, and thankfully the limited number of releases each year helps with the high prices.

DC - I guess MacFarlane is releasing the unreleased DC Direct Batman TAS figures... I know those are all cel shaded, which would make them match the upcoming Hasbro animated X-Men stuff, but do I REALLY need to drop $40 after shipping on repaints? Not sure that I do. If not, I'll buy any cool stuff that MAFEX releases that catches my eye. Again, would very likely be limited to any Batman TAS stuff.

TV-9D9 / Re: The Book of Boba Fett (Spoilers)
« on: February 3, 2022, 03:28 PM »
Another great episode, mainly because it had nothing to do with Boba Fett. :P

Deepfake Luke looked so much better than he did in Mandalorian S2 finale. I know Lucasfilm hired that YouTuber who made a much better version, so if this was his work, fantastic job. Those ant droids were cool too! I need to go back and check to see if the temple they were building is similar/different from the one Kylo destroys in TLJ because I'm thinking they could use that as a way to say Grogu survived the First Order. "Kylo only destroyed ONE of Luke's temples, surprise! There actually were Jedi in the Sequels, now start liking the movies!"

A few things I disliked:

- I know Legends Luke did away with the "no attachment" rule (considering he gets a wife and a kid) so it was weird to see him following the same rule that turned Anakin to the Dark Side. I've seen people theorize that the ending is going to be a "fakeout" and Luke is going to train Grogu while allowing him to see Mando every so often.

- I would think that the first meeting between Luke and Ahsoka would be a much bigger deal. Maybe they're saving that for the Ahsoka series?

- Wouldn't Cad Bane be in his 70s at this point in the timeline? Cool seeing him regardless, even if he's just going to be fodder for Boba (assuming they actually let Boba do anything). Makes me wish Disney had let the Clone Wars team finish the series, as I believe there was a Young Boba/Bane storyline that ended with a duel. Would be cool to have that backstory to up the stakes.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: Hasbro Pulse Fan Livestreams

Book of Boba Fett Finale day makes me think this will be MORE Boba junk. I'd be happy with a Black ChrisHansen figure, and I'd die laughing if they reveal figures for the Power Rangers Moped Gang.

Hmm… saw the pics on YakFace’s Instagram. So basically the previous Deluxe BOBF Boba figure but with the ROTJ/Cobb Vanth deco. It’s a WM exclusive, so not like I have a shot at it anyway, but I’m thinking I can skip this one and not be missing anything.

Well of the Souls / Re: Hasbro 2023 Indiana Jones Line Announced
« on: January 29, 2022, 03:42 PM »
I'm also kind of shocked that they're returning to Indy. It's not like the 2008 line was a hot seller, even if I thought the figures were fantastic.

That said, I'm not sure I can support or find space for ANOTHER 6 inch line. I'd probably buy Indy just to have an Indy, but I honestly kind of have no desire to collect a full line again at a new scale.

Yeah, it definitely hammered home the point that BoBF is filler until Mando Season 3. I'll have a few thoughts once more people see it, but I enjoyed the episode essentially being a love letter to Phantom Menace.

It feels like they blew 99% of the BoBF budget on this episode alone.
