Title: gorilla glue?
Post by: RollaJedi on April 4, 2006, 10:59 AM
Has anyone ever tried using Gorilla Glue instead of super glue?  If so, is it just like super glue in its effectiveness?
Do you also know what its consistancy is like?  Like a gel that doesnt run, or more liquidy like those cheap super glues (5 for a dollar!)?

Thanks!

I don't know Rolla, I've never used it... I use some sort of super glue from the dollar store (Dollar Tree) that comes in little yellow red bottles with a red cap.  It works great.

is it liquidy and runs or is it more like gel (like tooth paste and stays where you put it)?

I'm wanting a more gel like stuff.  Something that comes in greater quanity than those little bitty bottles.

The stuff I use is more liquid like, almost like water.

uuugh, I had a bad experience with this stuff!  I didnt know that the lid was off and I spilt it on my finger.  I went to wipe my nose and got my nostrils stuck together, PLUS my eyes started burning from the fumes.  I through it all out after that!  :)

I use krazy glue with a built in brush. It never clogs and I can brush on just enough glue to make things work.

i like elmer's super glue gel - its in 2 packs at target. cheaper than 1 crazy glue and it doesn't 'gum up' either.

I've used a few brands but Krazy Glue at the moment.  I haven't seen the brush on application Master_Phruby talks about but I'd be interested in finding some of that!

I haven't used Gorilla Glue personally, but I've heard secondhand accounts I consider trustworthy. Supposedly the stuff sort of expands as it dries a little, like a balloon.

It might work great, but I'd be scared to use it on figures :/ I'm looking for some two-part epoxy for parts on my figures that need to stay glued (for example I'm considering basically swapping neckposts on these two figures and I really need it to stay attached!), and trust superglue for most other things.

I was also wondering about a very strong glue for glueing neckposts and halves of torsos together.

For most of my customs I have used Krazy glue and have had success with it for the most part.  The only thing that really doesn't hold up when I mod neck posts.

Recently I have been using this superglue by loctite that is specificly for plastics and comes with an activator that is applied first to ensure a strong bond.

I have also heard of a 2 part expoxy called plasti-weld that is suppose to create a really strong bond.

I cant stand any of those 2 part things.  I like to just squeeze it out of the tube and go.  :)
I read where gorilla glue dries tan and requires water or moisture on the area first.  Pretty much out.
