Yakface scoop - Convention Exclusive TVC "The Rescue" Set (https://twitter.com/yak_face/status/1545864054324985856)
Yes, all repacks with new bits...
- Looks like a repack of the Maldo Kries Mandalorian (minus the snow effects) with "Have some fire and little missiles" effects plus Beskar Spear (I think the soft goods cape is the one from the Razor Crest)
- Darktrooper with "help, I'm on fire" effects
- Moff Gideon with soft goods cape
- Grogu in handcuffs

-
Finally, all of the repacks with slight adjustments I've been waiting for.
Do we know anything about when it'll be available to order?

Same as the Celebration stuff. At certain times during the show, Hasbro will pass out QR code scanning thingies at SDCC. People at the show can pick up a code, scan and pre-order at Hasbro Pulse. There will be a pre-order window later this summer for non-attendees. Date/Price info coming soon...
-
They're going to make me purchase another damn membership for Hasbro Pulse.

Does having a Pulse membership help you get this or is it a SDCC exclusive? I am neither, so if anyone has info on tracking one down please share. I think this is a great little set. I know people hate repacks, but there's enough different here for me and I would hate these a lot more if they were 3 repacks + 1 new figure that made everyone want one.
-
Can't wait to shell out $80 for some fire effects... That being said I'd agree that it is a nice set for a convention exclusive. These are all nice accessories, but none that I couldn't live without if I can't end up getting one of these. I'd much prefer that to missing out a new figure I cared about.
Echoing Jman, is the pulse membership required to get one of these if you aren't going to SDCC?

Don't be absurd, you're also getting a cloth cape and some handcuffs!
-
Maybe they'll set aside some for premium members a few hours ahead of making them available for purchases by all. I certainly hope so since I wound up becoming a member several months back when HasbroPulse started charging for shipping. Getting pre-orders at the time were a crap shoot at other onlines but generally pretty good on HP.

Similar to SW Celebration earlier this year, at SDCC Hasbro will hand out codes. The code allows you to pre-order on Pulse. There are no in-show sales this year. After the show, a limited quantity will be available for sale to the general public. So get a code from someone at the show or wait until the general public day.
It remains to be seen whether or not Pulse Premium helps. The past few convention exclusive drops have come with disclaimers that Star Wars stuff was not part of the early-order window. There was no pulse premium member advance ordering window for the SW Celebration BS6" "Jon Favreua Vizla" figure for example.

And the Beskar Spear!
-
I didn't realize that. I didn't see it and people on Yak Face's IG were complaining about there being no spear. If it's in there, that's worth at least $50 of the price tag.
-
Without a Premium membership I've been able to order all the recent exclusives. I think if you're on the ball when these are released they're actually easier to get than a Target Exclusive preorder.

It looks like it is included to me... packed behind Mando:

Yep, looks like it!
-
I think it's actually an interesting set. And the differences between these figures and the mainline releases make this kind of cool. My general questions?
-Are the flame effects on the Dark Trooper removable?
-Mando appears to have a number of different features. I think the figure is the Maldo Kreis sculpt without the ice deco. And it looks like there's a flamethrower effect / accessory, as well as the Whistling Birds accessory. The softgood cloak is welcome, and so is the Beskar spear. I see the jet pack and Mando's blaster in the accessories, too. I'm curious what else is in there.
Other notes / questions? Does the packaging folds out similar to the way the packaging for last year's TVC throne room set did?
And then? What's the estimated delivery date?

Oh silly me for not noticing... That's a lot of entertainment-inspired accessories in one pack!!!

World building. Truly world building.

HEY! That's TWO cloth capes and some handcuffs, AND a spear.
The one thing from these images that's a picking point is the flamethrower on the right gauntlet. But you know that Hasbro had to find a way to make that work. The flames weren't going to cling to it via magic.

Is Mando's cloth cape just the one from the Razor Crest pack-in figure? If so, that's not a new piece so I'm not going to count it... ;)

Got the heads up email from Pulse that this set should be shipping at the end of the coming week (~Dec 2nd)
-
Just got charged for this one.
-
Got an e-mail saying these are on the way.
-
Same here. It should actually arrive on my birthday, so that's pretty cool.
-
The size of the shipping box that I got with this set seemed ridiculous to me until I opened it to see how big the packaging/box was for this set. I understand that the presentation here is much different, but the size of this box compared to the size of the troop builder 4-packs is crazy.
Now that I have the set in hand, it really is kinda sad that I paid $75 for this box of repaint/kitbashes when just a week earlier I got 4x Hoth Rebel repaint/kitbashes for $45. Oh well, joke is on me I guess for buying it.
-
Mine arrived today, too. And I agree - the size of the shipping box is ridiculous. But I guess trying to get a shipping box that’s appropriately sized for this might have been problematic.
-
Was yours shipped in an extra box?
Mine was in the pre-packaged thin carboard box that was the exact size of the set. They just slapped a shipping label on it. Luckily it arrived in great shape.
Granted the overall packaging of the set is fairly large, but it needs to accommodate three carded figures vs. the loose figures you get with the troop packs.

I think you are mixing up the Amazon Obi-Wan 3-pack with the Pulse "The Rescue" Mando set. ;)
-
Same. Mine came in a box big enough to house a UCS Lego set.

Ooops. You're right.
-
I just got mine, and you're right, the box is massively oversized.
-
I’m thinking the enormity box might have been for customers who bought two. But then I’m trying to remember if Hasbro limited these to one per customer?
-
Mine arrived Thursday. It’s a nice set and I like the improvements on Din and Gideon. The Darktrooper s nice, even if he’s scene specific as is the Grogu in bondage statue with one point of articulation.
-
I'm predictably of the opinion that $80 for a set with 4 figures in it, one of which is the size of Grogu, and none of them being new is absurd. Then there's the packaging... for a company bragging about moving away from plastic packaging to be more green, these four little guys that could have come in a box the size of a troop 4-pack came in a giant window box, shipped inside of an oversized cardboard box...
But, my biggest disappointment with it has to be the Darktrooper. For $27 I really expected him to be noticably taller than Mando and he's basically the same height. I know Mando's slumping some in this image, but still...

Are they really just the same size as an average human?

This price is rough.
When it was a real convention (SDCC) and these things were hard to come by you could rationalize a little of the scarcity inflation. But PulseCon is a "fake convention" so its harder to justify the price premium. And to be honest, I don't even think the presentation is all that cool.
I guess I'm the dummy for paying $80 for something I basically already have that was 30% less when bought before. I gotta start passing on more of these exclusive repacks more...
-
Are they really just the same size as an average human?
They were played by guys in suits, so yeah, probably.
I skipped this set but I did buy 2 Darktroopers that I can't wait to get. This set didn't have enough new to entice me, and I already made my own cardboard hallway diorama from the show.
-
The Dark Troopers look a lot taller in The Mandalorian but Wookieepedia says they are 6ft-3in. Pedro Pascal is 5ft-11in; with boots on, the height difference between the figs is about right.
I was thinking about this the other day and echo the same thing you guys are saying. $80 for three figs, a semi-fig in Grogu, and accessories!? A crappy display box? Must have been a case of the dreaded FOMO.
-
Alright, if that's the case then it's the price that's offensive, not the height. :)
-
Alright, if that's the case then it's the price that's offensive, not the height. :)
Agree that single Dark Trooper price ($27) is offensive, but I can't get too mad though. With Amazon's pre-order price guarantee, I think my Dark Troopers are down to $20 now. $20 for the 3.75" Dark Trooper plus the little charging booth they come with isn't terrible and is probably much more in-line with what the cost should be.
The Rescue box set on the other hand... Like Jedi Idej said, I think that was a FOMO buy. Looking over what I got, I basically paid $75 plus tax for a grogu in handcuffs, some Mando clip-on accessories, and the Beskar Spear. I guess I can get mad at Hasbro for the price, but I'm the dummy who actually bought it so I have to own my part in it as well.
-
I'd agree that $20 with the rack isn't terrible but we shouldn't have to rely on Amazon's pre-order price guarantee for this to not be a $30 figure after tax.
-
Amazon has this one for a much more reasonable $37 if anyone was on the fence and still wants it.
-
I'm in on all three of these guys for sure.
