More fun stuff.  I like the Han a lot more than I expected.

Also the Tank Driver is not with the tank.  I've read a few people say that Hasbro at one time said it was, but I don't recall them saying that.

Love the trooper, can't wait to fork out $30 each for them on ebay.

Wonderful seeing this type of goodness again.   :)

No more fast food drive thru food, or stupid spending for me for a while, because I am going to back this.

I assume some collector shops/vendors will make some orders too knowing that they could later flip it for much more.  Some collectors will likely do that too.

What we need is for some billionaire collector to come out of the closet and fund half of these and sell them through their own business.

Very glad to see Hasbro upping their game again, on this vehicle for example and other aspects for the 3.75" collector.

The reveals for this, the upcoming figures, and the Sail Barge are staggering compared to what we saw the past 4-5 years... I can't remember the last time I was this hyped up and excited as a collector, fan, customizer, etc.

I have been very vocal about my dismay for Hasbro especially the past few years, and felt TVC was their chance to start doing things like they used to do - and it looks like they are at least going to try to get back to the glory days for 3.75" collectors again.  I doubt will ever get back to the level it used to be, but things are finally looking up from my corner of the hobby.

As for the Sail Barge...  I don't expect it will get 5000 backers - but it's a potential once in a generation type item so I have to support this thing.  To me it reminds me of how mesmerized I was by the GI JOE USS FLAGG playset.

Overall, I feel like a little kid, all giddy with excitement.  Hasbro's showing efforts again to win back the people who have been unhappy.  I have missed this feeling and it's great to experience it again.

I have several of the Legacy ones, some have fallen and snapped joints over time.  I also have an Endor one with major standing issues, so I might have to try out the lock washer trick, though the weights for the feet sound like an interesting alternative.

As for the new one, I ought one at full price at Walmart when they first got them in.  Eventually I picked up 2 more of these at Ross for $22.99, and got 2 more in from BBTS recently.  Hope to eventually find a spot for them in dioramas.

The Rathtar, Wampa and Probe droid are all solid pieces.  I'll probably buy at least 2 of each.

It's not perfect, but this thing looks far from horrible.

I guess if I can shell out at least $500 for space walls from GTP toys, well then I will need to support this.

Wish it didn't transform inti BB-8 thought.  Or transform at all.  I wish it was more like an upscaled micro collection Death Star World from 1982.

GTP Toys is now shipping 3.75" walls to customers.  Check your inboxes for shipping updates and let's see some pics once we start receiving them!   :)

I backed the Twelfth Parsec Ewok Village, though it wasn't an environment I really cared about.  Also their cantina alcoves... cool, but I no longer display them as they just don't "do it" for me.

As for this Space Base, I did not order and frankly am glad that I didn't.  It's just too obvious that it's 3D printed and looks a bit dingy with way too many rough edges.  I hate to say that, because I love the concept and applaud their efforts.  But... 3D printing is simply not cutting it yet for product like this.  I'm sure there are 3D printing avenues with this design that could look much smoother and better, but the pricing would be insane.  I am sure the guys who made these also agree that it didn't turn out to look as good as they had envisioned.  The end product looks more like a prototype, unfortunately.

That being said, I'm sticking with the following for stuff like this when I don't have the patience, time or talent to make what I want on my own...

The Vintage Collection / Re: The Future of Star Wars Collecting?
« on: February 28, 2017, 07:48 PM »
The 6" line is it's own thing.  I got into it on the ground floor, and I think it's pretty apparent that this is the direction that Hasbro wants to take the collector focused line.  Either collectors will accept it or move on.  I also think that Hasbro saw the way the action figure segment of the business was moving towards 6" figures.  Look at so many other licenses, and the dominant scale was 6" figures.  I think bringing Star Wars to that scale drew in collectors who had more of an interest in 6" scale figures.  I think that's also what opened up retail opportunities like getting into chains like Gamestop.

I like what they've done with the figures, and I appreciate that Hasbro's approach with them was to present the best possible version of that character from a particular setting.  There's none of this gradual evolution of a character that we saw in the 3.75" figure line.  One example that really came to mind was when Hasbro rolled out the Saga line that supported the release of ATTACK OF THE CLONES.  There was this progression of Obi-Wan Kenobi figures that started out really lame.  And with every release they got a little bit better.  But they never got really good very fast.  Hasbro would get you to buy about 5 or 6 versions of Obi-Wan in AOTC before they finally got you a version that was pretty good.  But with the 6" Black Series?  There's been none of that noise.  There's ANH Han Solo, and that's it.  It may get repackaged a couple of times, but it's the same figure.

However, I think that the $20 price point has limited how wide of a net Hasbro can cast.  I don't think you're ever going to get the diversity of characters in the 6" figure line that we got from the 3.75" figure line.  If we get 6 x waves of 3 or 4 figures each?  Those action figure slots are just too limited to spend on a character like an Imperial Officer from TESB versus one from ANH versus another from ROTJ.

And on a similar front, I think that the days of offering up every obscure character from a setting like the Cantina or Jabba's Palace may be fleeting with the 3.75" figure line.  I just don't think Hasbro can pump out 60+ x 3.75" figures a year anymore, and the joke about "Cantina Alien #37" seems like it's just not in the cards anymore.  Especially with Disney pumping out a new movie every year, and the corresponding action figure line to support that theatrical release.  I think that will be directing Hasbro's focus.

Nailed it.

I'm thinking the opposite. Are the toys cheap? Yes, but so are the prices, and I'm thinking $30 for a giant tank with a few army figures is going to be a better buy for parents than a $50 Star Wars vehicle or a non-existent $7 figure line

Agreed... and at all the Walmarts around here, the Kong toys are selling like crazy, and keep getting restocked.

The Black Series 3.75" / Re: Black Series Rumors
« on: December 13, 2016, 10:30 PM »
Yeah that Han/Leia/Phasma wave hit the state of Missouri over the past 10 days in ridiculous numbers at certain Walmarts... too bad it wasn't evenly distributed several months ago like it should have been.  I hope Walmart's days as the sole provider of this line are numbered.
