Title: Darth_Ennis' Monster Garage ( Updated 12/16) Custom Challenge entries
Post by: Darth_Ennis on January 4, 2006, 12:47 PM
Seeing as how I never actually made a thread here with my own work spotlighted, I guess now is a good a time as any. I'll update it as often as I can.
Feel free to post comments, critiques, Dirty jokes..... what ever. ;D :P  Most importantly I just would like to know what my peers think, and as always to strive to get better.

This ones from the Snoova group project over on FFURG.

I intended for him to be the actual Snoova as opposed to Chewbacca in desgiuse. So I wanted to make him as large as possible. The fig itself was once a Wookie Warrior. The chest armor is from a Mummies alive figure, amd the arm and leg armor came from a dollar store Ninja. The eye and leg holster were once an AT-RT gun, and the axe came from an old G.I.Joe knockoff figure. the hair braid is decorated with trophies of unlucky bounties.

This next one is a Barris Offiee. Seing as how the only figure of her in existance is screeming like a banshee, I decided to make one that was better articulated and much more serene.

Wow, nice work there DE!

Snoova - Awesome job, he definitely does not look like Chewbacca in disguise.  I like the armor that you gave him and the "eyepatch" looks great.  He really looks like an entirely new figure as opposed to a modified wookiee warrior.  The "trophies" in his braid are a great touch, they remind me of predator.

Barris Offee - Awesome figure!  I wish I had picked up a few more female Jedis so that I could try one of these.  I can't think of anything else to say!  Nice work!
Is that a vintage Pruneface cloak on Barris?

Hooray!  The Monster Garage arrives at JediDefender.com!  :D

Darth Ennis, that Barriss is a big improvement over the original one.  What head are you using, by the way?  That isn't a Baroness, is it?  The only criticism I have is that her face looks a little too green, in a Lily Munster sort of shade of green -- but that might just be the photo.

And great use of dollar store parts on Snoova (who, as Gregorbian says, definitely no longer looks like Chewbacca).  Seems like these dollar stores can be a real treasure trove for customizers!

Always enjoy seeing your stuff -- keep it coming, and happy customizing!

Glad you are starting your personalized thread here now, we're all in for a treat.   :)

Snoova - He looks awesome, I love the choices of armor.  A truly great represenatation of this figure.  Excellent painting too.

Barris - What you did with the hair is amazing and makes her look attractive - in the pic with the cloak her eyes look a bit large, but other than that I think it's awesome.  This is far superior to Hasbro's version.

Barris is a Luminara body with a Aayla secura head. The hair is from baroness with a fer minor changes from sculpy. BTW findswoman glad to see your back too. If Im not mistaken, I beleive I still have a couple of things still put aside for you, namely a Baroness. Unfortunately I never received the package you sent, šIve been meaning to ask if it got returned back to you. Drop me your addy again and Ill send it to you.

Darth Ennis, just sent you a PM!

Knowing that the head & the hair are from two different sources makes that head all the more amazing.  Great work integrating the two.  8)

Here are a couple of updates, Since I'm using a library computer my time is limited to 30 minute periods at a time and this is my last one for the day.
Here are the last couple that I have to post for the day, Ill get in as many as possible.

You may all recognise this rather dark gentleman so introductions aren't neccessary. I give you Gradn Admiral Thrawn.

The body is a ROTS Tarkin with a Spy Troops Duke head.( Hollowed out of course)
I love this character, but lets face it the EU fig they gave him just plain sucked. It was too cartoony, and I wanted a more realistic, and more importantly articulated figure. I didn't actually think it would work, but I think it cut a nice figure.

Yet another gentleman that needs no intro, This is a SA Qui gon Jinn.

out of all the figures Hasbro made of him none were very well articulated at all, which was really a shame he was an awesome character. He is a pilot OBI wan with a Tatooine Quigon head ( hollowed) and sculpied boots.

and while were on the subject of jedis here are a couple of misc, jedi ive been working on.

And last but not least we have the Monster Garage itself, where I have Wuher serving drinks to the various WIPs that are waiting around to be finished

And yes before you ask those are indeed 2 vintage Super power Flashes waiting to be finished. I have been very busy lately, and as you can see the fun just never stops. ;D I'm just glad I could finally share all of these with you . I know ive been promising them for months.

Wow! You've been a busy man in your new digs. I love that new Snoova. Good use of parts and armor. Its so good to see new stuff from you.

That Thrawn is awesome!  Great work, I might have to steal that idea  ;)

SA Qui-Gonn is really well done, definitely looks like something Hasbro should have given us.

The other jedi are well done, although after seeing the Pilot Obi-Wan body used for customs, I can't bring myself to use any other body for any jedi that I have.   :-\

Hers a small update. I managed to finish my Corran Horn over the weekend so here he goes.

His body is a ROTS Ki-Adi-Mundi, and his head was once a ROTS Bail Organa with some sculpy added for hair. This fig classifies as part of my Great Pegwarmer Roundup. Seeing as how both if these figs were rotting on the shelf at walmart. This one was really pretty easy, so anyone can give it a try.

Darth Ennis, great work on your transformation of the Bail Organa head -- I never would have guessed!  I had been thinking it was a Rykrof Enloe head instead... :D

He turned out very nicely.  I like the color scheme. One small thing, though, is that  slit in the right side of his tunic, which I'm sure was Hasbro's fault and not yours... was that from some attachment on the Ki-Adi-Mundi figure?

Nice touch posing him on that Felucia base, too.  It goes with his green color scheme.  :)

Keep up the wonderful work!

Ive another update. ;D  I workrd on this one all day yesterday, after I found a VOTC Luke hanging on the wall in a local comic shop.

SA Shirtless Darth Maul

This one is a double edged sword.( No pun intended.) Whereas he has an unspeakable amount of articulation, his paint will chip off if I dare to ever move him. :'(

He is made from the body of a VOTC Luke and a hollowed out Maul head. The plastic belt and tunic is from the same Maul. The soft goods underskirt was left over from one of the Luminaras I used for the Tonnikas. Cut and shaped to fit the figure. Altogether the figure only took a couple of hours, and Im surprised he came out that well. It usually takes me a lot longer to make something like this.

Thanks for the kind words Findswoman, the Corran figure has been sitting in a box unfinished since before I moved to Tennessee, I finally got around to finishing him. The slit in the tunic is factory made, I guess to give the figure a little better movement. BUt it really doesn't work all that well. BTW I made a mistake when I posted him. I forgot that I switched the legs, from the waist down he is a Plo koon figure. I didnt realise it till I got home.

Great paint application Ennis.  I'd say repaint the head some so the red on his torso matches the color on his head.

Have you used any spray seal on him to help keep it from chipping?  I'd say try the matte acrylic sealer spray that Walmart sells in their arts/crafts section.  You could also put a drop of superglue on each joint.

 :P
Title: Re: Darth_Ennis' Monster Garage ( Updated 1/10)
Post by: findswoman on January 10, 2006, 12:39 PM
Very neat concept on this shirtless Maul, and  great job painting the tattoos on the chest.  Is that really based on a Luke figure?  Wow, what a transformation you've effected -- it almost looks like one of those Microman figures that people have ben using a lot recently, but I have heard tell of VOTC Luke's fantastic articulation.

One small thing that's bothering me, though, is the upper skirt, and how it connects to the torso.  The upper skirt seems a bit to thick; there's too much extra space between the edge of the belt and the beginning of the torso, which makes the torso look smaller than it should.  I wonder if it might not help to use another cloth skirt, perhaps another Luminara one, as the upper skirt (cut to the proper lengths in ront and back, of course)?  That might lessen some of the waistband issue and make his torso look more in proportion with his lower half.  Just a thought, and of course, you know how biased I am in favor of softgoods.  :)

I know what you mean about the paint impeding the articulation.  That seems to happen to me sometimes even after I use dullcote spray on a figure.  But it's worth a try.  Chewie, what does the superglue do on the joints?  I haven't heard of that trick before -- but would it not just sticlk them together?

Keep up the nice work, Ennis, and happy customizing!

Finds you use such a  small amount of glue it is only on the painted parts and not in the actual joint holding the paint tight just not the joint
Title: Re: Darth_Ennis' Monster Garage ( Updated 1/10)
Post by: CHEWIE on January 10, 2006, 02:31 PM
Well, I've used the glue also to keep the joints in place too - with the ball sockets, there are more than one type of articulation.  If you dab the glue carefully, you can get it to keep part of the articulation.  To me, that's usually fine.

Maul looks great.   The tatoos came out very very well.   Did you consider adding the Grevious style legs to him to give him the look of the EU version that can be seen in the Star Wars Visionaries book?
Title: Re: Darth_Ennis' Monster Garage ( Updated 1/10)
Post by: Darth_Ennis on January 12, 2006, 02:41 PM
Yes BrentS I toyed with that idea, but I wanted to do the whole Maul first. should I ever find another VOTC Luke I may try that next.

Im definately going to take in a few of those suggestions, Im just glad everyone liked it. I've got to admit he is a little scrawny for Maul though.  ;D

Ive got a few more things Ive finished but I probably wont be able to update until Tuesday. But I promise there should be a few surprises by then.

Well, its time for an update of a different sort. These are off topic and may be a no no on this board but I felt the need to share them anyway. Ive decided to take a small detour in my customs. Due to very horrible weather, I have been stuck in the house. First it was snow, then it warmed up a little and became miserably cold rain. Needless to say taking my Travelling Obi-Wan pictures have been out of the question, so I started working on a few JLU animated style customs.

First off is Hal Jordan Green Lantern.

This is a figure that should have been done already, but since he seems to always get the snub on the T.V. show its not likely that it will ever happen.
He is made from a John Stewart body with a modified Nightwing head. I decided to go with the outfit that he is currently wearing in the Comic series, which I think is a nice update for a classic look.

Next up is Captain Marvel.

Many people often refer to The Big Red Cheese as SHAZAM. This is however incorrect, as my roommate will defiantly tell you if asked. This custom was a comissioned project for him, the biggest Captain Marvel fan I think I have ever met.
The body is a stripped and dremmeled Aztek body with a spit-curl free Superman head. The cape is my miserable attempt at cutting fabric, with applied paint and gold cord glued on. My roommate thinks this figure is the greatist thing he's ever seen. Once I get around to making my own I hope to correct the flaws. But as long as he's happy I guess everythings kosher.

And finally we have the dearly departed Blue Beetle.

The late Ted Kord is made from the body of a Flash, sanded down with Sculpy for eyes. The BB gun is from the Teen Titans Robin clipped and trimmed. Except for the detailing on the costume ( which was a real pain!) this is a fairly easy custom.
The Beetle has always been a favorite of mine, and I think its a damn shame he had to die. But this is D.C. so I have a feeling he wont stay dead forever.

Ive got quite a few more in the works including a Hawkman, Animal Man, Plastic man, and a Deathstroke and Catman thrown in for good measure. Dont laugh, ever since "Villans United", Catman has actually become cool.

Dont worry, I havent given up on Star Wars customs, I've still got a few of them in progress, it's just that the JLU have become a nice little side project.

As always your questions and comments are appreciated.

These are off topic and may be a no no on this board but I felt the need to share them anyway.

As I've said before, as long as this place doesn't become ALL non-Star Wars, sneaking in a few things from time to time is OK.   ;)

As a Green Lantern nut (see my many GL items here (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=8682.msg146030#msg146030)), I love this custom version!  Much better than dropping the big bucks on the uber-rare Mattel version.

I've been planning to do a similar custom once I found the right head and that Nightwing head (with mullet removed) looks like just the trick.  Hope you don't mind my stealing that idea.  :)

and ps.
I don't think Ted will be back soon, they have already replaced him with a new Blue Beetle!   :'(

Jeff, I have no problem with people "borrowing the inspiration" for my customs. ;D I encourage it actually, thats why I usually try to stick the recipe up with the pics. Lord knows Ive done it enough. :P ;D

I clicked the link for your GL shrine. Ive got four words.... I AM NOT WORTHY!

I didn't even know they made half of those pocket heroes. Is the Jade legit or is she a custom? Shes definately one the TO DO list, as far as my JLU customs go.

As far as Blue Beetle is concerned....I can dream cant I. :'(

SA Darth Maul - Awesome!  The paint apps are really crisp, nice job!  That must have taken forever!  The softgoods turned out really well and the everything about the figure looks well done.  Personally, I don't care for Darth Maul, but this version almost makes me want to try to make a version.  He may be a bit "scrawny" for Darth Maul, but if you make another version (like the SW Visionaries version that was mentioned earlier) you could use a more muscular torso and use VOTC Luke's arms?

I also like the Corran Horn Jedi figure - I had no idea that it was a modified Bail Organa head!  The sculpting on the hair looks perfect - was that sculpey clay or something else?

I don't know much about DC but those guys look pretty factory-crisp to me.  If I saw them in the store I would not have known that they were customs, nice work
Title: Re: Darth_Ennis' Monster Garage ( Updated 1/23)

Here are 2 more heroes. ;D
The first is Plastic man, always a favorite of mine.

A great character all around, but never gets any credit. He is made from the left over Night wing body from my Hal Jordan custom with a Batman Bruce Wayne head. The goggles are sculpy.

Next up is Hawkman.

This one took a lot of work, but since he was always a favorite it was a true labor of love. His body was originally a Martian Manhunter, and his head was a leftover Aztek shaved down. The helmet wings were cast ( very poorly I might add. Hey I'm not Glasssman, what do you want from me! ;D :P) in sculpy from the original Super Powers Hawkman.  No Super Powers figures were harmed in this experiment. The wings were once Hawkgirls.

I have to say that as a Hawkman fan I was kinda ticked that Hawkgirl made it to the line up and not him. The most grevious insult was the fact that when "Hawkman" finally made it to the show they made him a damn villan. What the hell???? Any way, I had to take a little artistic licence with this figure but I think its a good representation of the character.

I promise that my next update will actually have some  Star Wars figs in it. ;)

Well, Darth E, I love to see JL customs.  I can never get enough of them.

I have yet to make kyle, or beatle.  I dig the plastic man alot. When i did Hawkman, i almost used MM for the base
as well, but i think he is a bit too big.
I went with a cast of black cat... Here is mine. (http://home.comcast.net/~glassmandesigns/customs/jlu/hawkman2.jpg)
Here he is before painting. (http://home.comcast.net/~glassmandesigns/customs/jlu/hawkman-wip1.jpg)

Post by: Darth_Ennis on February 7, 2006, 01:43 PM
AS promised this update actually has Star Wars figs in it. ;D

First up is Lando as he appeared in the last scene of empire, and the comic "Scoundral's Wages"

He is a VOTC Han body with a POTF2 Lando head. Sleeves and collar are Sculpied.

Next Kyle Katarn

He is a new Saga han body with a ROTS OBI wan head. The shoulder patches are Sculpy. The belt is VOTC Luke, the pistol was once Cobra Commanders, and the saber was a misc. jedis.

In an effort to finally have a decent Kyle figure I made this from his pictures in the "Dark Forces: Soldier of the Empire" book, and from his write up in the "Essiential Guide".

And Finally this is a Mandalorian Warrior I made from dropping a VOTC Fett into green dye. The result you see is the result of the dye alone and no repainting.

I made him a couple of weeks before the hurricane hit so I never got a chance to post him before. So now comes the audience participation part. Should I leave him as is or what? I think he looks pretty good as is but hes missing something. What do you think?
Title: Re: Darth_Ennis' Monster Garage ( Updated 2/02)
Post by: CHEWIE on February 7, 2006, 02:44 PM
Nice update Ennis.

Lando - Looks great... I would suggest a new head however, maybe one of the SAGA or OTC heads... those are ball jointed and are a much newer sculpt.  The POTF2 one looks a bit big/fat compared to what you could do with a newer one I think.  But the rest of the figure looks fantastic, one of your better paint jobs I think.

Katarn - Now this is a great customs, and one of my favorites you've made.  I'd think about tinkering with the head though, just to get it to look a bit less like Obi Wan. Maybe some darker hair/beard would work, and repainting the eyes some.  Maybe thicker eyebrows.  The rest of it looks fantastic... you did a hell of a job selecting parts and sculpting/painting.

 :P

Great update!

Lando - Awesome!  Hopefully Hasbro will give us an identical figure because there is nothing else that you can do to him to make him look better.  The sculpted parts blend in perfectly with the rest of the figure.

Kyle Katarn - I like it!  The parts choice is nice and I immediately saw "Kyle Katarn" as opposed to "Obi-Wan".

Dyed Mandalorian - Does the dye dissipate/fade eventually or does it stay that color permanently?  I was debating whether to start using dye on my figures (to help reduce the joint paint-chipping problem)
Title: Re: Darth_Ennis' Monster Garage ( Updated 2/02)
Post by: Jesse James on February 14, 2006, 01:07 AM
Nice update Darth Ennis...

-The Katarn figure is interesting and seems pretty accurate but the head is very Obi-Wan, that's my only thought on it that I think I would change.  The Hasbro Katarn head isn't bad, it just lacks detail in paint aps that it needs to really bring out the likeness I think.  If you could track a cast down perhaps, or a cheap Katarn figure (less likely) it would be cool to use that head and paint it up I think.  The rest of the work looks pretty sharp though...  You could add more accessories for all his gear, or if you got the Katarn figure itself it comes with 2 of his weapons (the Bryar's a good bit more accurate than Cobra Commander's pistol, so it might be worth picking it up?).  Overall very cool though, and Katarn figures are in short supply in customizing I think.  Given the character's popularity and pretty extensive background with different outfits and "looks" and all.

-Smuggler Lando...  I have never been too big on getting a Smuggler Lando myself, but I think you pulled off a pretty cool figure that looks like he raided Han's closet.  The collar looks accurate, everything looks nice...  My thought though is that, and I may be one of the only ones here, I would have used the Cantina sculpt because it's a little bulkier and Billy Dee Williams always looked a little bigger than Harrison Ford's body size in ANH.  Ford was smaller in 76 when the film was being made than he was in 79 when ESB was wrapping up it seemed, so the ANH sculpt of the VOTC figure that's really accurate to a thin Ford doesn't necessarilly match up to Billy Dee's build as I can picture it.  I just see him having a little more bulk to him.  Since you see him from only the waist up you could also take some creative license with the holster area if you wanted to change him up I think, but only if you wanted to set it off from Solo a bit more.

-Dyed Fett...  That's pretty neat the way it came out but I agree it is indeed missing something.  A repaint of the gauntlets is where I'd start, and I'd cover the emblems of Fett's armor if this isn't supposed to be him particularly.  Now beyond that you could do away with the cape maybe and give him either a more full one (not so tattered?), paint some new design on the armor perhaps, and just maybe clean the figure up a bit (less battered/war torn looking).  And give him a new custom gun.  cut some bits up, make him a new blaster all his own.  Could be pretty cool I think and would set the figure off from resembling Fett so much.
Title: Re: Darth_Ennis' Monster Garage ( Updated 2/02)

Nice work Ennis.

Lando - Only thing he's missing is a can of Colt .45.  On a serious note, I think he just looks a tad too skinny, especially in the neckbone area.  Maybe because I was a charter member of Psychic Friends Network --and I began smacking up my beeshes the day I bought my first case of Colt-- I am more familiar with a bulkier, smoother (how could Lando be any more smooth?) Billy Dee.

Katarn - I always thought that Obi-Wan melon looked similar to Katarn, and you've turned him into my favorite reluctant Jedi.  Good work on the shoulder pads, and good combination of parts.  He looks exactly like he should.

Mando warrior - I don't have any suggestions for this one, he looks as Mandalorian as an action figure can get.  If he's not intended to closely resemble Boba, I'd put a little more paint on him, like more gray or black, but that's just me.  What gun is that he's holding?

Ennis, I'll get some pics taken this weekend of the figure around my area.  Nice figure too and I enjoyed looking at the comic.

Who is next on the "travel list?"

Thanks for the kind words guys. As far as the  Lando head is concerned that was the only one I had available. Five differend Lando figs and only one head between them. If I could get my grubby little paws on a VOTC lando head Id try that, which was my original idea, I think that would look better.

As far as Kyle, Im not entirely pleased with the uncanny resemblence to OBI Wan but I think it works. I have thought about altering the head a little, I may get around to that eventually.

The dye job on the mando so far is about 5-6 months old and hasnt faded yet. I am planning to detail him further and make him his own man so to speak. The latest SW Insider has a nice article on the Mandos and has given me a few ideas to work with, including a female. :o

The gun I beleive is a POTF Bobas. I dont beleive I altered that one. Which is probably a good thing, My weapons customs never really turn out right.

Oh BTW Chewie I put up a list so far on the Travelling thread, I look forward to seeing where he takes you. ;D

Great cartoon figures very well done I especially love platicman and hawkman and Lando in smuggler gear is great I'll have to give that a go myself one day but the mando warrior is bloody awesome especially seeing that it's only dye well done indeed.

I have a feeling he is going to get acquainted with some of my dioramas for starters... then I'll hopefully be able to take him out sight seeing just a bit.  Might not be as extravagant as I was hoping, but for sure you'll all get to see the landmark of my town with him in it.

Ok, I put together a cheesy little photonovel for this.  I've been swamped with other things so sorry this isn't too creative.

Cautiously Pimp Kenobi approaches the CHEWIE household, prepared for anthing that may come in his way.

Here he is greeted by Angel, who tells of the tyranny of the evil Sith in CHEWIE's collection room.

After listening carefully to Angel's warning of the evil, Pimp Kenobi sees for himself the ashes of the three dogs who have passed on in the CHEWIE household.

Being a pet lover, he immediately joins the cause for freedom!

Throughout the collection no enemy is safe!

For soon the collection will once again remember the name of Pimp Kenobi!

With the leaders of the Rebellion on his side...

Pimp Kenobi brings down the Empire!

"Thank you," Angel says.  "I'm a straight cool playa," Obi Wan replies.

"And my journey has just begun..."

Time for a little update. Forgive me Phruby for I have sinned. ;D Its a clone. First up is a Snow Marine commander. Still unnamed.

Now granted I dont normally post my clones, but this one is an exception. I tried for a snow pattern camo on his kama. Needless to say it didnt quite turn out like I planned. My freind was so impressed by him he is in the process of writing a story about him. Wo knows, this may turn out to be a photonovel before its all over with. I gave him some animal claw scratches going down his left arm and shoulder, though Im not sure why, but I think it looks pretty cool.

In keeping with my Super hero side projects, I have made a couple more. The first needs no introduction.

The sentinel of liberty was made from a sanded down Martian Manhunter body and a Hawk head. The sheild is from a SHS cap and the wingtips were once from a Flash.

Post by: CHEWIE on March 3, 2006, 11:21 AM
The clone looks pretty cool, but something about it kind of has an amimated feel to it... maybe it's the color pattern on the kama.  Not a bad custom by any means Ennis, but the color pattern is just a bit too pastel blue to me.  I hope you don't take offense to that.  I think with just a bit of tweaking on the color pattern it will look great.  But if you already like it, then that's what matters.  And I could see that pattern in a snow environment.

The Captain America looks great.  Not a toy line I collect but it looks very nice.

Post by: Darth_Ennis on March 4, 2006, 11:10 AM
No Chewie I dont take offense. ;) Any and all critiques are welcome. Granted the Blue is a little too pastel but thats kinda what I was going for. Ive never really seen snow camo beforeso it was a color scheme that I did on the fly. IVe got a couple of troops for him I'm working on. I want to give him a 4 man squad but for some reaon those damn Snow troopers keep disappearing off the shelves faster than I can grab them.

Cap was a labor of love, him I wanted to be perfect because he is my personal hero. Super heroes have become a second customising hobby of mine. They sort of refresh my batteries for my SW stuff. Heroes are something I started customising when I was a kid starting with the Secret Wars line back in the 80's.
They started me on the path that I now follow. Of course back then there wasnt a name for this hobby, I was just the weird kid that painted his toys. :P

Post by: Gregorbian on March 5, 2006, 09:36 PM
I like the snow clone commander, I think the color scheme works perfectly.  Do you have a reverse shot of his camo kama?  I try not to use camoflauge on my clones, but since Lucas decided that it works, then I don't really have a problem with it.  I think the color choices on that camo pattern looks pretty good.  My only complaint with the figure is that you used the Bacara body instead of doing a body swap with a #41 clone.  That's just my personal aversion to clones with minimal articulation and isn't meant to take anything away from the way the clone turned out, because it looks great.  I just like to err on the side of too much articulation  ;)  :P
Title: Re: Darth_Ennis' Monster Garage ( Updated 3/03)
Post by: BrentS on March 6, 2006, 10:22 AM
DE- I think the Snow Commander is very good idea.  I think the blue cammo probably works.  However, it appears that the paint as gone on a little too thick.  Maybe they can be blended in together a bit more?

I think Captain America looks cool.  I'm not a Marvel collector but I do like your super heroes.
Title: Re: Darth_Ennis' Monster Garage ( Updated 3/03)
Post by: Darth_Ennis on March 6, 2006, 11:15 AM
the reason that I used Bacara is because I wasnt sure that the camo would work. It was just a throw away practice figure that ended up looking pretty cool. He was a test subject, but since he turned out so well, Im going to probably re do him using a better body.

Im glad everyone has liked Cap so far. Unfortunately I didnt notice it until last night, that I forgot to put the "A" on his forehead. :-[ So Im going to have to remedy that. Ive got a few more heroes that I havent actually posted due to library time restraints so I will be sparadicly updating over the next couple of days or so. That and I have a few more actual Star Wars customs too. :P

I really like this clone. The two tone colors make him look very icy. I like the pattern on the skirt. However the Captain America is by the far the better of the two customs. Very well detailed and animated looking. He reminds me of Glassman's work.

Title: Kurse the bounty hunter.
Post by: Darth_Ennis on March 21, 2006, 11:53 AM
Kurse the bounty hunter is an enigma. No one knows who he is or where he came from. All that is known about him is that he has been around for as long as anyone can remember. He has no qualms about who he works for so long as they can pay his price. It is believed that the helmet he wears is a symbol of his prowess. Taking it from the body of a Mandalorian warrior he defeated in mortal combat.

Reported dead several years ago, he has turned up very much alive and in the employ of the Bando Korba terrorist organization. What part he will play in the Clone Wars has yet to be revealed.

Title: Admiral Screed
Post by: Darth_Ennis on March 23, 2006, 01:59 PM
Admiral Screed has always been a character that I have wanted. But seeing as how I could support a small country for a year on what he goes for, I decided  that making one would be the better way to go. :o

After several failed attempts using various POTF2 imperial bodies I had just about given up all hope. That is until the new SAGA Veers figure appeared.

Heres what I came up with.

His body is completely Veers as is the hat. ( dremmeled out of course)
The bottom of the coat came from one of the 21C germans.
And the head is some El Cheapocabra mexican Joe knockoff figure from the dollar store. Generous amounts of sculpy for the chest and arm, and several large rubberbands make up his belts and pockets. I decides to take a more real approach, than cartoon. But I have to say he looks a bit like Albert Finney, in a uniform. BUt I like it. ;D

I have also given some thought to making an entire line of realistic Droids figures, any suggestions that you may have are always welcome. Mongo Baobob will be next on the agenda.

Next up is a Yellow clone. Nothing special about him just thought I'd share. :P

Title: Monster Garage :Whats on the slab?
Post by: Darth_Ennis on March 23, 2006, 02:21 PM
Every now and then I get blocked on what to do next with one of my customs. It happens a lot more than you might think. :-[ So I've decided to present it to you guys and take suggestions on what to do next. I need your input, because I have some good stuff and I need help to finish them.

First of we have a Scout type clone that is badly in need of a good color scheme.

To give you a little background on this guy, he was screwed from the get go. I bought this SA clone a couple of months ago, when I got him out of the package, the poor guy had 2 left legs frm the shin down. I guess something went wrong in the cloning tanks. But using the old Six Million Dollar man motto,
"I can rebuild him I have the technology."

I raided my box of failed experiments and grabbed a badly dyed Biker scout and went to work  dremmeling out his helmet and armor. ( Big props to Fitzkreig for that inspiration) Several painstaking hopurs of dremmeling, and a boot swap from a badly decomposing Ric Ole figure later and viola. Now I just need a color scheme.

Hes a scout/combat engineer. The left gauntlet is a mobile detonator, and the brown pouch are where he keeps his explosives.

Where should I go with him from here?
Title: Re: Monster Garage :Whats on the slab?
Post by: Smartypants1635 on March 23, 2006, 02:53 PM
You can't go wrong with White like the traditional scouts, But possibly a camo scheme, also since hes working wih explosives hes gonna have an ordanance accident evey once ina while so really bang him up and add huge explosive scorches on his armor. :P
Title: Re: Monster Garage :Whats on the slab?
Post by: Phrubruh on March 23, 2006, 05:01 PM
Since this piece is pretty much just a bullet proof vest, why not make the vest black like the police have for a flack jacket? You can write SWAT on the front in the imperial font.

I think you did a GREAT job on Screed.  The lower skirt looks very good, not too 'puffy' and the paintjob is spot on.

His head reminds me of RAX from Eternal Champions:)  My fave was always Xavier but RAX's powerslide was devastating, lol.

Overall a great custom!

Hi there,

Your Admiral Screed looks good. I like the color scheme. The detail on the eye patch and other accessories are well done. I would recommend that instead of using rubberbands, start looking at styrene sheets. Rubber will deteriate overtime and will ruin your custom. You can cut styrene sheets to any length and thickness and it can be heated up to be shaped to fit. I just hate to see such great work lost due to chemical breakdown of rubber. As for the hat, it seems a bit big for the head you used. I would recommend that you fill the head with super sculpty and boil it so the hat looks like it fits. The other option is to fiind a imperial hat that does match the head size, like any of the POTF2 lines in the mid to late '90s. There  are folks out there including myself that casted a few of those hats. One more thing before I go, check out my friend, sith_fire30,  Admiral Screed. He did a simular version like yours.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm glad people other than me remember Screed. :P I never really noticed his "floating hat" but now that youve pointed it out Im going to have to see what I can do about it. It does look rather odd.

Sith_ fire 30's screed is pheonominal. I didn't know he made one. The figure he used is the one that I cannibalised for mine too. I love that head, and now that I've seen it I wish I would have used that one on mine as well.

Actually, I could use a few of those hats for a few other projects I'd like to do.

Actually I have taken both of your suggestions to heart, and Ill use them both. ;D
I started giving him a Gree esque color scheme. With green camo limbs, and black for the vest and boots. He's in the process of drying from his first coat as we speak. Hoefully I can get him finished and posted in the next couple of days. Thanks for the input guys.

OF course anyone else can still chime in as well. No reasonable suggestion will be refused.

I think you should go w/ something regal and use him as one of Palps personal clone gaurds that follow him. You could make a whole squad and use him as the guy who sweeps the buildings that Palps goes into for bombs. That's my $.02.

This is a great bounty hunter figure.  Its an awesome combonation of Mandolore and Royal guard.  The painting you did on the Royal guard body is outstanding (much more than I did on my red version).  I like the additions to the arms too.

I don't know... to me, this is an awesome custom but I don't know if I see it as an Imperial.  Almost as a Bounty Hunter with armor he's cobbled together from different military uniforms.  Personally I might give him a different helmet or alter it some, and make him a Bounty Hunter.  Just a suggestion though.   :)

Ennis, great update!  Have you considered making a consolidated thread to show all your work?

I like the Screed a lot.  His hat does seem a bit high on his head but that's ok.  If you try redoing that maybe a Piett head would be a good starting point.  The rest of it, to me is perfection.  What a great job combining parts, sculpting and painting.  Simply Awesome.

The yellow Clone is great.  Excellent use of the Bacara body, it looks great for this Clone.  Really a cool figure, I might copy your idea sometime.

I think with the boots you chose, he deserves a swamp or desert camo pattern.

I originally thought he should hae a grey camo on a white backround, for no particular reason. It just came to mind.

Something like this:

Well, first off I would like to thank everyone for their suggestions. Ive gotten a lot of really good ideas. Ive sort of gotten the clone bug again, mostly out of boredom. IVe changed jobs, so now that Im on day shift with nights off Ive had lots of free time on my hands.

Ill be posting him as well as a few others Ive done in the last week or so sometime in the next couple of days.

Now for individual responses:
Ripley- Actually, that was the color scheme that I was going to go with originally beleive it or not. Ive got a couple of unfinished Black Hole troopers on the back burner so who knows I may actually do another one.

Clone hunter- Ive got a few snow troops that ive been working on as well. Mostly troops for my Commander that I have posted in my Monster Garage thread. All of these individual pics wil show up there, but check it out. The troops I am in the process of making will all have his camo pattern.

Well, I figure its time to update and consolidate, so here we go. Theres no new "characters" other than the stuff you've seen already. But, there are a smackload of new clone customs.

First off I think well start with Rykroff Enloe, in his Kurse the Bounty Hunter disguise.

Next up Admiral Screed from the Droids cartoon.

Yellow Clone Commander.

Lestat- Screeds coat was made from a 21C battle of the bulge figure. the german trooper with the trench coat. His body is the new Saga veers. The 21c figs can be found at walmart for about $5. Great custom fodder there.

V- the name change threw me for a loop. ;D the helmet is from a customiser by the name of Bantha 5 I dont think he's on this board but I know hes on RS. I got these from him sometime last year, and finally got around to using them. I beleive he still makes these to sell, I havent demeaned myself enough to go back to RS for a while now but check him out if you do. He does some really good work.

Hey everyone,

Bantha5 is not on this thread. He visits Rebelscum.com forum. He is one of the master wax sculptors out there. Here is his Gargan up for auction today.

http://cgi.ebay.com/GARGAN-UNPRODUCED-POTF-Custom-Vintage-Star-Wars-Figure_W0QQitemZ6047202435QQcategoryZ52335QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

His website is: http://users.adelphia.net/~rshaw007/

I have talked to him many of times on consulting on our sculpture and getting me to look into wax sculpting as the next stage in sculpting and casting. His work is extremely professional looking.

I hope this helps.

More A1 customs from Darth Ennis and the Monster Garage!  That Mando-Wok is really, really cute -- a real laff inducer.  :)  And all of the customs are definitely up to the standards of the Monster Garage. :)  Screed has a really, really neat design -- I don't think I've seen a custom of the character before, and it looks like you put a lot of hard work into him (which paid off).

Your Snow Padmé looks very very nice as well, and it's neat to see an attempt that that custom, which doesn't look like an easy one either.  Now all you need to do is make her a nice white cape with "fur" trim and pom-poms!  :)

Always enjoy seeing new updates from you, Darth Ennis.  Keep up the sterling work!  8)

the unamed clone from clone wars is capt. fordo as seen in the databank :

6. Captain Fordo: ARC Captain Fordo burst onto the scene, leading a team against General Grievous as well as a horde of Separatists on Coruscant in Volume 2 of the Clone Wars animated series. With his dual-pistols and take no prisoners attitude, Fordo quickly became a fan favorite.

the Fordo custom is great, the emblems on the helmet look great, i really like this one a lot.

my favorite however is the mando-wok, very original - i love it!

Apparently I had a brain spazm and missed this latest update by you Darth Ennis... I apologize for that.  Your work is so fun to see... I think maybe some of them I did see like the Rykrof, Padme, Screed and Yellow Clone, all of which are fantastic!

The others I know this is the first time I've seen them.

Mando Wok - If that's not funny (and cool) nothing is. Very funny for the April Fool's custom, I regret not being able to make something for this.  Great sculpting and very original idea.

Scorch - Great job!  And you know, I would never think this is a custom, that's how seemless the legs are you made.  Wow, much better than Hasbro's version.

Coruscant Commander - That's fantastic.  Great use of a Bantha5 head... I don't know what to say other than I need to get one of those sculpts, and if I do, I hope it turns out half as good as yours.

Wow, nice update Ennis, sorry I haven't been keeping up with your thread :-\

That Mando Ewok is unbelievably cool! I love the helmet (and his ears sticking out), great sculpting all around!  Very creative and well executed  :)

Capt. Fordo looks great too, did you sculpt the helmet or is that a cast from somebody?  Either way, nice work.

Admiral Screed came out very well.  The sculpting is (again) very well done and looks seamless.  Nice use of the lower trenchcoat from the German ww2 figure.  I destroyed 3 of them when I applied a base coat of primer (for some reason the soft rubber of the trenchcoat became very tacky).  Did you just apply regular acrylic paint to the lower coat?

The one I like the best is the Mando Wok. I like the sculpted armor and the colors. I wish the helmet was removable. Admiral Screed is a great example of this character done movie style. Someday I'll have to make one.

Thanks for the kind words, as you all well know by now they are always much appreciated. ;D

Now on to the individual answers. ;)

Findswoman- Im glad you like the Padme. I had originally had a cape for her. BUt due to my extreme lack of tailoring skills.... it, like just about all of my softgoods work ended in disaster. :-[ I definately want to get s cloak for her someday, she just doesnt really look right without it.

Ripley- Thanks for naming Capt. Fordo for me. I've heard the name before, I just didnt know that was him.

Chewie- Scorch  was a simple legswap from a SA clone. Unfortunately, the scorch legs didnt swap onto the poor clone test subject as well. :'( So looks like Ive got another project fodder on my hands. Even Ive got to admit the paint job is one of my best. Im really amazed with how good it came out.

BTW on another note I will be posting an alternative uniform for my Rykroff. I wanted to post what Kurse actually looks like so I swapped the head onto another body. Pics will be forth coming.

Gregorbian- Long time no see. ;D The Fordo head is from Bantha 5. I got them a couple of months back, when I was still active on RS. As far as the paint on the coat goes, I just airbrushed it with the cheap Walmart craft paint. I had to thin it out a little but so far it hasnt chipped, or grown tacky. That little 20 dollar model airbrush from Wally World is one of the best investments Ive ever made.

And I am glad everyone enjoyed the Mando-Wok. I will be making a companion Mando warrior using that color schemehopefully he turns out as well. Though I do wish his helmet was removable too.
Title: Quinlin Vos
Post by: Darth_Ennis on April 10, 2006, 12:10 PM
Well, I finally went and done it. I was really in the zone yesterday, and I cobbled quin together from parts that I had lying around. This in my opinion is one of the coolest customs Ive ever done. And I didn't spend a dime on it. ;D

The body was from leftover Palpatine parts, the arms were Gung Ho, the head is Scalpel, and the belt and tunic were from an anakin. All parts culled from other projects that Ive done. For the most part JUNK.

The dreads are leftover thread from the Tonnika project and the hands were probably left over from that scrap anakin as well with little strips of tape wrapped around it. The chest armor is sculpey and the shoulder pad is frok a clone. Let me know what you think.

Post by: CHEWIE on April 10, 2006, 12:21 PM
This is very well done and I agree, one of your best customs!  You did such a great job on the hair too, I might have to go back and redo mine now.  Man this is great!

The arms seem a bit thick to me but not where it takes away from the figure.  I really like the eyes (he always seems to have big alert eyes) and the chest armor is awesome.  But it's the hair that really sells the figure to me.

Well, I have a couple more additions. Mostly Imperials. Probably several you havent heard of. ;D What can I say I thrive on obscurity.

Capt. Thrawn.

What can I say everyones got to start somewhere. This character is almost a year in the making, I finally finished him the other night. This would be Thrawn as he appeared in the Clone Wars.

Next Warlord Zinj.

Never heard of him? Most people havent. This portly evil little warlord appears in the Rouge Squadron series and not much else. He was once a Sgt. Garcia from the old Zorro line. I got his pic out of the Essiential Guide to Characters.

Hi there Darth_Ennis,

Well I have to say, this last batch of customs are something else. Great looking.

Capt. Thrawn: I love the choice of head for this guy. Very menecing and cold calculating expression. Nice work! Paint job is flawless. I really can't offer any more suggestions for this custom. Great job.

Warlord Zinj: Now this is an interesting character. I am not very strong on UE stuff other than some comics and books I read. Nice face choice. It matches the rotund look of the upper torso. I would recommend re thinking the leg choice. Most figures that protray a obeese character have short and stubby legs. These are not very proportion to the torso. I would recommend looking at some anatomy for the artist books that show proper proportions of the human body and body fat distribution. In short, the legs need to be more fuller like the Rancor Keeper legs. That figure is properlly ballanced. Fat charaters are not always the easiest to get right without doing some initial research study on the subject. I think if you can get the legs sized up, this figure would change from good to fantastic. I know how nerve wracking it is to post your work for the world to see. You have alot of great stuff on here and I only want to help you grow and become better with every new custom you make. I hope you do not take this the wrong way, I really like the concept of this figure and everything eles you made. You are very talented and I for see you becomming a great artist. I wish you luck with this figure and I always look forward to see new works from you.

Great EU Characters. I'm not very familiar with Zinj, but I believe he's from the X-Wing books? Not sure.

Thrawn, of course, is one of my all time favorite SW villains. I was working on a Grand Admiral version of him, from the Thrawn triogy of course, but botched the job and got side tracked.

I love the black officer uniform design on him, and the head choice fits very well!

I think the only thing I would do is put a small black outline on the face paint just so it shows up better. Other than that its an outstanding custom. The real hair compliments it very well.

Not bad at all. I'm not a fan of the stringy hair, as a personal prefrence. I too think if you give him a slight black line along his facial paint, it'll do him good. Very awsome custom, my friend.

Title: Dash Rendar
Post by: Darth_Ennis on April 25, 2006, 01:53 PM
Well, I finally finished my SA Sleeveless Dash Rendar.
Ive loved the character since he first appeared in SOTE. BUt I have to say the only figure we ever got of him wasn't the greatest. He never looked like he did in both the video game and the book cover.

Recently I've been experimenting with using Joe parts with some very good results. So I decided that now was the time to give old Dash an update.

Here's the recipe I used.
Head- Modified Wetsuit
Body- At-At driver (sanded down neck post, and sculpied boots.)
Arms- Wildbill
Armor- Chest: Sculpy
           Shoulder: Leftover Clone parts
Brown chest armor: Steak Temperature indicators. ( if you look close, tyou can still see the W in "Well Done" something I will be forced to fix eventually :-[ ;D)

Let me know what you think.

This is a great custom Ennis.  I do have to say though that the head seems a bit cartoonish... I don't know what other fodder you have that you could use, but if there's one thing that would make this outstanding it might be a more realistic looking head.

Kudos to you for making this figure, we seem to be stuck as a whole in the prequel era for customs.  It's good to see this kind of figure, especially one so well done.  Excellent painting and use of parts.

Im not entirely sure what happened with my earlier post but here is the update that I had planned.

NJO princess Leia.

Well, actually the Leia from the cover of "Unseen Queen". She is made from the VOTC leia body and the Bespin Leia head.

Next is General Pharl McQuarrie
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y257/Darth_Ennis/Star%20Wars%20Customs%20Customs/Clone%20Wars/Gen.jpg)

This one is a Palpatine head on a Derlin body. I got the Idea from an article in "Insider" that list a Who's Who of Echo Base. This character is in tribute to Ralph McQuarrie adn he was supposed to be in charge of Echo base.

Both of these were quick and dirty customs that really didnt take much time to do at all.

Post by: Ryan on May 5, 2006, 11:15 PM
I've been missing a lot of your updates Ennis. I feel really bad about that. :-[

Thrawn-  I like how you went with a black uniform for this one it helps make him even more unique looking. I think you did a good job on the skin tone too. I'm not really a fan of the legs though, it looks like he is trying to do the splits. I think you should change them out for a pair that is a little more neutral. And I do have one more minor nit-pick the rank badge needs to be fixed so he is actually a captain.

Zinjj- I always like Zinjj back when I first read the X-Wing series. I think the head you chose is a perfect fit for him. The eyes seem a bit dark though. You did a great job sculpting on the torso, the only think that looks a little weird is the legs again. For such a fatty he seems to have a big space between his thighs, maybe you could find a way to bring them a little closer together?

Vos- I agree with you, this is definitely one of your best. He looks fantastic. Unlike Kevin I really like that hair, I think it fits perfectly and seems to be very much in scale with him and doesn't look too thick. I think pure junk can sometimes turn into the best customs because it really forces you to be creative and it is hard to tell where any of it came from.

Dash Rendar- Wow, I'm really digging this one too. I used to love Dash back in the SOTE days. It is nice to see you gave him such a well deserved update. Your choice of fodder is somewhat supprising but it really came our looking good. Do you have any plans on making a Leebo, that was his droid's name right? The head is a perfect fit too. The right boot appear too be a little fatter than the left but it isn't too noticeable.

General Pharl McQuarrie- I've never noticed how much that head looks like McQuarrie, that turned out to be a nice little headswap.

NJO Leia- Fairly simple  custom but again it looks really nice.
Title: Re: Darth_Ennis' Monster Garage ( Updated 5/04)
Post by: Darth_Ennis on May 6, 2006, 11:31 AM
Leebo is in the planning stages, I need an extra 2-1b to sacrifice for it. There was actually someone over on RS that did an excellent one last year or so I'm going to use my vauge memories of that to attempt my own. ;D

I thank every one for the great feedback and I hopr to have a few of my other projects finished over the next couple of days. I will finish my Female mandalorian if it kills me.

Hey that is a great McQuarrie concept.  I'd just maybe repaint the head a bit to make it seem a little less like Palpatine.  Very great custom figure idea - if someone deserves their own figure made but Hasbro, I think he would be a great choice.

It's been almost a month since my last update, I must be slipping. :-[

First off, I normally don't do comission work. But this was for a good cause. My freind at the comic shop asked me to do this one for her 7yr old son. He wanted a male Twi'lek Jedi. Now the fact that a 7 yr old knows what  Twi'Lek is much less how to say it amazes me. So I cobbled together a few spare parts I had, and tried to grant his wish. I gave it to him yesterday, and from what I understand he hasn't put it down since. Sometimes this is what its all about. Its not even my best work, but I do beleive that this is one of the greatist figs that I have ever done. ;)

This next lady needs no introduction. The NJO Melennium Falcon.

This will be the first time I have ventured into the world of vehicle customising. At least SW vehicles anyway. She's just a simple repaint of an old Mellenium Falcon.

I've got another quick update. Finally after months of dissappointment, I finally have my Fe-Mando 90% complete. All that is missing is her human head. I accidently broke peices off when I went to take this picture. :( >:( So I will post it at another time.

Un-Named Female Mandalorian

I decided to go for a pink and black color scheme. I think it makes her look very feminine ( Sp?). My roommate on the other hand beleives she beat up Brett "The Hitman" Hart and stole his tights. Sadly I have to agree with him, though that was not what I intended. ;)

I have to give special thanks to two people for the inspiration for this. CommanderKorbora and aeSeven. I saw their awesome Femandos and I had to do my own. Thanks guys.

Looks good D_E - I'm a fan of the Hit Man color scheme.  Gotta love the 80s wrestling reference - thanks for the smile.  While I love the bare midriff, its not exactly mando-armor protection like :)  Also for some reason I think the hips look to be off a little bit.  Its almost like her waist is too big above the belt for her legs.

However, this is still an excellent addition to the Mando ranks!

I know it isn't exactly battle worthy, but I kinda like the bare middriff thing. She started out with a Babes of Star Wars type of theme when I started. Its kind of a nod to Fritzkreig in that respect. ;) If her head is finished by tomorrow I hope to get her pictured without the helmet.

I still have a hard time seeing a female Mandalorian wanting to expose her belly like that, but it's definitely hot.  Good work Ennis!

Hey great work man! I was wondering when you'd finish yours! I think that's an awesome color scheme too. Do you have an entire parts list by any chance? I'd love to hear exactly what parts are in that thing. Oh and thanks for the mention of my name :)

Nice job!

I like the way the parts all came together! I don't know if I'd pick pink for the armor color, it seems a little clishay. I'd suggest a more sensible color w/ some Battle Scaring and weathering.

Keep up the great work!

Here she is with her proper head. The cool part about this is I left it to where her head could be switched out for her helmet. This is however not the head I had originally planned to use. That one will appear on the Mara Jade I'm working on now. This one looked better.

I appreciate everyones comments, pink is a little cliche but I like it. I do however think that she came out great, and I have plans to do a 2.0 version using the same basic materials, but with a more realistic approach. I really liked the yellow one that CommanderKorbora did from the Insider article, so I think Ill be trying my hand at that one. Hopefully that one will come out better.

Dont worry BrentS I think Gardulla is much hotter. :P ;D

I really like the Quinlan Vos a few pages ago, and that NJO Falcon is fantastic. It makes hasbro's plastic might look even better.

but the real fiend here is that Dash Rendar. He's always been a personal favorite for me, and I love your custom.

Excellent stuff!

Title: Re: Darth_Ennis' Monster Garage ( Updated 6/18)
Post by: Darth_Ennis on June 19, 2006, 03:39 PM
Ah yes the recipe. I knew I forgot something. :-[

the basic body was a ROTS Aayla Secura. I cut off her boots and added those of a Vvs.V Scarlett. Her arms were from the Baroness, I had to sand down the pegs a bit, but they fit witout any trouble. I hollowed out the helmet of a Jango figure so it would fit on the neck post. The shoulder pads and gauntlets were from a severely beaten up POTF boba I had dremmeled to fit. The chest armor is all sculpy, her belt is a clone's. The head is from Agent Courtney Kreiger it popped on to the neckpost with no modifications whatsoever.

All her joints move perfectly.I have to say that as far as construction goes this is one of my best works.

I got so into explaining the Femando that I forgot to post this.

Mara Jade Skywalker.

She has been in the making for almost a year now. I finally develpoed the process that made my vision a reality.

I have been wanting a SA Mara for years now. I started making her about a month before Katrina hit out of a ROTS Luminara. I dug her out of the bottom of a box about 2 months ago. But I could never find a proper head for her. And I was never really satasfied with the articulation in her arms.

I was originally going to use the Agent Kreiger head for this one. But after the femando head that I was using broke I fixed it and decided that this was a better head for Mara, so I switched them.

The recipe is as follows.
Head: Elisabeth Swan POTC. I trimmed off the silly hat and added hair via Sculpy. I had to hollow it out a little to fit the neckpost.
Body : ROTS Luminara. This is the perfect SW female body for customs. A little sanding and its virtually a blank slate.
Boots: Baroness. I cut them at the knee and glued them on. It took a little work to get the knees to function properly.
Arms: Baroness. I sanded down the ridges on the Baroness sleves amd trimmed down the pegs to fit into the shoulder hole.
The belt is a trimmed down baroness belt, and the chest straps are glued on rubber bands.

Let me know what you think.

Great femme customs, Ennis!  Always a pleasure to see these! :)

The lady Mando is the best of its type that I've seen.  The swappable heads is a neat idea.  And I don't mind the pink.  :D  I'm only worried about her getting a lightsaber through that impeccable midsection of hers!  Youch!  :-X

You did nice work on Mara, too.  The Elizabeth Swan head works fine, though I think the Courtney Krieger would have been just as good.  Personally, I'm still trying to make up my mind about these MicroLady bodies with all their articulation -- particularly on a figure with bare arms like Mara -- but that's not your fault, by any means.

Now, back to the Femando to address one comment:

Dude, it looks like she's got a piece! :-X

Hey, we've  got sensitive stuff "down there," too! :D

Hmm, get a squad of those and call em Jodo and the PussyKasts? :P

Seriously, personally, the pink isn't what i'd go with off the bat, but it DOES work nicely...I like the way you got the smaller details on the helmet nice and clean (the vents on the back for example) Looks really good overall tho :)

Here is another update. MAny of you may not be familliar with this character.

Cade Skywalker

For those of you who don't know Cade is a Skywalker from 100 years into the future. He is a decendent of Anakin and Luke, former jedi, and current pirate/ bounty hunter.

I am anxiously awaiting Star Wars:Legacy #1 which is due out in a couple of weeks. Hopefully it lives up to the hype.

HE is made using a Saga2 Hoth Vader legs and crotch, a Saga2 Long Snoot torso, G.I.Joe Croc Master arms, and a Mc Donalds He man head.

The coat is from an old G.I.Joe badguy fig, and the gun is a choppped up joe gun. HTe armor on his chest is sculpty.

As always critiques and coimments are always welcome.

Cade looks good as well, I'm not too familiar with the character itself, but the parts flow together nicely and the sculpted armor looks good as well.

:o OMG!!!!! She does have a package!  :o :-[ I never noticed it before til D_N pointed it out. I really have to dremmel that down. Man is that embarrassing.

Cade was a character I wanted to make when I first saw him. Reference pics are not very easy to come by though. Once he actually appears in the book, I may have to go back and put a few more details.

All in all though Judging by what Ive seen and read there will be quite a few more Legacy customs laying on my work table before its all over with. There are a lot of really cool lookin characters. I'm glad everyone likes him.

He's actually wearing Yuuzhan Vong armor, according to wookieepedia. In a way i thought they were kinda cool, a little lame the way they turned out to just be (spoilers) Stripped from the force, and they were just part of the regular scheme of things. (/spoilers) I'd be curious to see how things turned out, and if they were mentioned in the Dark Nest series of books. Something i don't get though is how Cade came across the lower half of Vader's Armor...I could understand he had spare sets, but you'd think it would have all been found/destroyed in the years between Endor and the Legacy era.

Time for another update. Due to overwhelming fan response, I have decided to post some of my new customs. I'm sure both of you will be pleased. :P ;D

Grand Moff Moorlish Veed

The butt ugliest man in all of Star Wars continuity. He has made himself quite a turd in the Star Wars Legacy comic so far, I dont see any reason to think he will change.

Head: SHS Punisher ( a great match for the concept art I might add)
Body: ROTS Tarkin
Tunic top: Sculpy and small rubberbands.

Slave Dancer Vixen

This entry for the Custom Challenge is VERY loosely based on a former stripper dancer I was freinds with back in N.O. Her out fit is amost dead on to the outfit she used to wear. Given the fact that the head look just like her I decided to name this character after her. She will kill me if she ever finds out though. :o

vixen heree is a mix of many many parts, and Im not really sure how they are all staying together.
Head: Ay Vida
Torso: Slave Girl Leia
Arms: Luminara ( Sculpied to fit in sockets)
Legs: Ay Vida
Hair: Baronesss (with thread)
Straps: Rubberbands

AS always thanks for looking, and comments are always appreciated.

Hey Ennis,

Man, I haven't even finished all the characters I want to customize from Republic, and here you are starting on Legacy already!  ;D

I LOVE the Cade Skywalker you made. This was one of the characters I wanted to tackle in the next few weeks, and you have given me an amazing template to emulate! I think the paint on this is top notch, one of your better ones, IMO. And the scratch sculpted armor looks great! My favorite custom of yours in a long time...maybe ever.

Grand Moff Moorlish Veed also turned out really well. You're right, that Punisher head is pretty dead-on...and again, the custom sculpting you did looks awesome!

Vixen looks great, I love the leg details! You can never have enough dancing girls in the SW universe...or in real life, for that matter. Now where are my dollar bills?  ;D

Dude, I have loved your customs as of late.

The Cade kicks ass. and now you have 1 more guy from legacy. You're a mad man I tell you.

The Admiral looks reall cool, a guy you definately wouldnt want to be under in the navy.

The Stripper, LOL great job on that one, you say you based it off of a goth friend of yours. :D That's hilarious

Thanks guys Im glad everyone likes Vixen. Alot more work went into her than I normally do. the straps were originally going to be jet black But you couldn't tell what they looked like in that color.

Actually Veed, was started before Cade was, he was going to be entry for the Imperial part of the Challenge. The reference book I was using for him had a pic of Cade on the other page, once I noticed he was wearing Vaders pants I grabbed my extra hoth Vader and went to work.

DD- Theres still quite a few Republic characters I want to do to, but I decided to take a litttle break from CW stuff to concentrate on NJO and beyond. I will be getting back to them though, but I kinda wanted to do a couple of new characters that no one has touched yet.  ;)Since picking up Legacy #0 I've got more ideas than fodder to do them with. ;D

Lord  knows I've " borrowed"enough ideas from you, go ahead. I really want to see your take on Cade.

Starkid- No it's not you. In that pic his eyes do look kinda white. They are supposed to be blue, but theyre a light blue color that doesnt show up well in that pic.

Smarty_ Thanks for that compliment. I really appreciate that comment.
As far a the "real" Vixen is concerned, she's one of the people from N.O. that I really miss the most. She was one hell of a chick. ( Drank me under the table more than once. ;))

Not really much of an update but I finally finished my NJO Jedi Master Luke.

It seems like forever since I started him, But I finally found the perfect head

Body-Rots Kit Fisto
Head- Throne Room Luke
Neck post- Derlin
Hands- (L)Anakin (R) Gung Ho
legsRots Pilot Ben w/sculpy

you can barely see it in the pic but I greyed his hair a little.  ;D

As always let me know what you think.

Man, Ive been pretty lax in updating here. :o Aside form a LOOOOONG customisers block I had recently, I am now back in the game. Now enough of my yapping let me get to the real reason you look at this. ;)

The Sarge

Not that anybody actually looked at him but this was my Proto Rebel entry for the UGP customiser challenge. I put a bio of him over on that thread.

Unnamed Mando

I did this one for the final Customiser challenge on this board. I didn't have a name or backstory for him, but this one was very difficult and time consuming to make. I have no idea how I Jawa rigged those parts together but they fit. ;D

Order 66 Survivor

This one is a fig I threw together for the Yakfinities Challenge. No name or backstory for here either. All I know is she was a padawan, and her fate is unknown.

This next crew was fun to do. The Yakfinities challenge for this one was Non Human smugglers. So I made a whole crew. ;D

The Captain

The Pilot

The Hired Gun

Group shot of the whole crew ( minus the Wookie a couple of frames up)

I added a couple of old freinds namely UGL-1 and R2-4Q. I'm donating all of these (except the droids) to the UGP as dio filler.

and last but certainly not least....

SA Mace Windu

The theme for this Yak Challenge was my idea The Great Pegwarmer Roundup. I snagged an Obi Wan and a Mace Windu and created the ultimate Mace. Now I have someone cool to lead my Mace Battalion. ( Of which I finally got one Woo-Hooo!)

As always let me know what you think, and if ypu want recipes, just ask.

Thanks for looking. ;D

Okay, I know I promised an update quite some time ago. :-[

But as with all good things real life got in the way again.

Teh good news about this is I am back in New Orleans again, smagged a much better and HIGHER PAYING job, and life for the first time in many many years is actually pretty good.

The shelves here are very well stocked, and pickings are aplenty, so I'm finally customising again on a regular basis.

NOw the bad news,  :'( My camera was damaged in the move but I am hoping to buy a new one in the next few weeks. So I may finally have something new to show, and once my internet is finally hooked up I look forward to beign part of the community again.

I really have missed you guys.

So keep watching this space.
