I'll grant an argument that he is the best hockey player ever. But I think a case could be made for Gordie Howe or Bobby Orr. I can't help but believe we're seeing him so much at the expense of seeing both or either of them. And that's not right.
It's also going to piss off retailers. Our Walmarts are crammed with the 1st Kings Gretzky figure. They are currently on sale at $10 (regular retail is $13.92 at WM) and are not moving. Some will move at $5 I'm sure, but I'd be willing to be I can wait until that figure is $2 before I buy it. Some stores have 50-60 of them in bins or baskets. And we're getting more soon??? Ridiculous.
That Kobe3 figure better come with a handcuff variant, otherwise it's pretty damn pointless too.
The Team Canada set is neat, but hopefully they fix the head sculpt on Lecavalier - I believe he's in his 20's, not his 70's. Hope they are the red jerseys as well (haven't read the release yet). Too bad I hate Fuhr so much. But I'll take a Gretzky in TC uni and dump any and all others.
The Legends lineup, minus more Gretzky
is great. I think we already knew about Dionne, but seeing Perreault in there is fantastic. Feel bad for the other guys that played on the French Connection line, but he would be my first choice too. Esposito is great and a neat pick. I can think of a lot of other goalies I would have made first but then again I'm just a geek on a computer. Little Mahovolich is a nice choice too, but again, lots of others I could have thought of first.
These better be the last of the Gretzky figures.
As far as football goes hopefully they get Roethlisberger out before he has a sophomore slump
