Anyone else UPSET? I don't know whether to be angry or elated. MAC has mismanaged this license so poorly that cancelling it may be seen as a mercy killing. A cursory glance of their forums will show you they never encountered the words 'public' and 'relations' in the same sentence. I'm upset that the Willow figures I've been looking forward to are doomed. And Tara, and Anya, and...
I really hope someone else picks up this license when it expires, and does this property justice.

I was thinking about picking up this line. Maybe Art Asylum will pick it up and actually get the figures out to people. I, for one, have never even seen one of these, except for pictures on ebay.
But I kind of doubt it, because the show isn't having any new episodes made and it isn't exactly up to Star Trek's popularity.

McFarlane? Then you might get a sort of nasty line out of it, good or bad.
I never collected the line myself, distribution up here was worse than crappy. I did expect it to die with the end of the buffy series. I kind of halfway expect to see Angel cancelled around mid-season next year. It was a pretty good run though. :'(

This news doesn't bother me in the least. When they first came out I managed to ultimately aquire the first set (still see 'em at TRU) but haven't seen a single figure at retail after that first series! And not for lack of trying either. Too bad really, I had all that cash burning a hole in my pocket for so long. Sounds like the last six months with SW crap. :-X

I collected the first series of figures, but after that it was too difficult to obtain them.
I still want the "Darth Rosenburg" Willow figure I saw pictures of.
I see this as an opportunity for somoene else to pick up the line and start from scratch.

Thats funny. MAC was taking pre-orders on the new waves starting JUne 20th. This is no surprise. They bought the license to do X Files figures from McFarlane over a year ago and have yet to touch them.

http://www.cinequest.com (http://www.cinequest.com)
Go there and order your very own Darth Rosenberg. :)
-
I don't trust Cinequest on ordering the Willows. They are charging as soon as you order, which is illegal, since they won't have the item in 30 days.
Also, I don't know why MAC went about cancelling the lines and making a huge fuss when they are now taking back their word and working with companies and retailers to get the figures produced as exclusives. They should have just done that in the first place and never made a cancellation notice.
Also, production was stated to begin on Angel II in Jan/Feb, but apparently MAC lied to us all along and never even started anything. IMHO MAC is a poor company, but as long as they are producing what I want thats fine by me. But when they blame the fans for the figure lines' demise, thats a low blow, especially considering it takes them 1-2 years to release like 4 figures.

the cancellation could have been a tool...
used to cause a hysteria in the fanbase...
-
Man, Clayburn Moore IS a tool. He should just keep sculpting female's asses and leave business decisions to anyone else.
-
Ditto, HMI. ;D
-
I wonder where/how the line would be had another company picked up the lisence.....
-
Just imagine Art Asylum doing Buffy/Angel figs, and feel your heart sink. Still hope, I suppose.

This is off the topic of Buffy figures, but it's still Buffy-related.

Apparently, MAC is going to continue offering Buffy figures through Diamond. This is third-hand news that I got from some crazy hosers at he-man.org, who got it from MAC's Collector Society or something. Still, at least there's hope for getting Anya and Tara.
