Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Smooth-on vs. Micromark
« on: April 28, 2006, 12:50 PM »
I've just started out but I'm using the Smooth-sil 920. And I love it! Indeed, the cure time is really good. You can work really fast with it.

For casting I use Smooth-on 300 cast. It cures in 15 minutes and is clear white. Very handy as well.

I like him mate! Very cool parts use on him! He's on my to do list for AGES now... But you nailed him, very cool and superb articulation.

Oh, the group shot is coming all right ;)

The boots are modified BBI elite force desert troops. I addes milliput to make them look bulckier and more SW less millitary.

Ok, time for another Mando update. I took a lot of pics, but most of them were bad, so I only have this one. It's not very good either but I'll make new ones tomorrow.
Here's my Mandalorian team commander. He's made out of some BBI head, old cool gun I found, milliput and the main body is a VOTC fett. The helmet is another Glassman6 helmet modified.

Let me know if you guys like him ok?

this pigment you're talking about, is this something you buy especially for casting or just "some paint"?

Customizing Tips and Tricks / color of casts question
« on: April 24, 2006, 09:24 AM »
Hi,

I've started to learn how to cast a few days ago. And I have a few questions:

How do you guys change the colors of your casts? Do you use diffirent casting products? I use Smoot-Cast 300, and it's pure white.
Can you just mix some model paint in with the 2 components or do I have to buy special pigment for it?

Any help would be usefull.

Just to keep you guys updated, I've been busy learning how to mold and cast. But yesterday I got the extra fodder I needed for another mando and I went to work this afternoon. Pics of my Mandalorian Squad commander soon! (I hope...)

84
What head did you use for him? He looks nice. But I never liked the feet Fet has. The look to thin and femail for a bulky armored warrior like the mandalorians.

Can't wait to see him in color ;)

I agree vehicles would be cool, but isn't a month a little to short for a vehicle custom? It takes me a lot more time then a month to build a decent vehicle mostly...

You guys are great!! :)

Thanx for the very suportive and informative feedback.

D_E: thanx dude, I'll let you know when the stuff arrives.

I'm having a bit of a setback on the team right now. I'm still expecting fodder in the mail, but as long as the postman doesn't show up, I'm out of work :p

Hehe thanx dudes :) Yeah I know I relayed the breathing tubes to the rocket tanks but he, it looked cool at the moment so I went with it ;)

Maybe he modified the backpack into a life support kit, or maybe he just likes the smell of gasoline :p

I don't know if you noticed, but he also has a bionic hand. Lost his original in battle.
