Title: Disney Jedi Academy 5-Pack
Post by: JACKOFTRADZE on June 23, 2008, 08:28 PM
If this does not say the Solo Kids I do not know what does.....

From Raving Toy Maniacs Q& A

3. Three of the most prominent main characters in the expanded universe novels are young female human padawans: Etain (Republic Commando), Starstone (Darth Vader: Rise of the Dark Lord), and Scout (Yoda: Dark Rendezvous). We have never seen a young human female padawan that could be used to fill the role of any of these important characters. Will we ever see a generic female padawan figure? Also, what about human male younglings, such as the ones Anakin kills in Revenge of the Sith? We've had youngling figures in the past, but they were aliens.

Answer: Interesting suggestion. There are some new human younglings coming in 2009 in a very special pack, including at least one female. However, they will not be on basic figure cards. More details will be available in early-to-mid 2009.

Thoughts?

I say its the Solo brats.

Interesting, this could be a battlepack or an Entertainment Earth exclusive?  This is a chance to get some figures to put a padawan training diorama together.  Bring on the human younglings, whoever they may be.

Legacy novel tribute anyone? ::)

I hope it is anyways. I love the series! Im just sad cause the last book is only out on hardcover and I don't feel like shelling out $30+ for a book I will finish in a week. Plus the fact all my other ones except for sacrifice( I got 20% off) are on paperback.

The word younglings makes me think of Jedi's, which doesn't excite me. However, if this means any kids, then my interest is piqued. Could the kister/wald pack be one of them?

Nah!!  It's part of H's new scheme.  We've gotten stands, holos, coins, extra weapons, and Build A Droid.

NEW FOR 2009 THE B-A-P

Build

SWEET! (As long as they include some alien heads to swap I am in on the concept!)

To be honest, I'm hoping the "BA_" continues beyond droids...  Padawans would work to me, as would Jedi in general...  Their outfits are similar enough that one good sculpt with a new head would work again and again.  We got the R7, so why not?

Same goes for other characters though...  Build-A-Trooper would be ideal I think.  Jedi and Troopers though, that'd be my main wish.

I could totally see other droids mixed in too...  If there were good Battledroid parts, tell me this wouldn't be even cooler?  Building a good Battledroid would be really nice considering one doesn't even exist in the line.

EE Exclusive?   Gah, I hope not.  I have difficulty thinking of anything less compelling than short humans with lightsabers.  That's certainly not a scenario I'd push for.  I can't speak for the fanbase at large but I personally would consider those about as exciting as getting yet another Zett Jukassa... which it seemed collectors didn't exactly go bonkers for either.

If fans *really* want those, I hope they're vocal, but to me it seems like I can hear the bottom of the barrel being scraped.  But that's just me.

This could be one of a couple of PT battle packs.  Perhaps the map room from AOTC, with Obi-Wan, Yoda and the younglings.  Or maybe the Jedi Council chamber from ROTS, where Vader kills the younglings.

I'd buy those.  I'd buy those with a smile.   There are all sorts of Ewoks with pilot gear and other stuff in the EU, so yeah, those I could see getting.

Will be interesting to hear more about this.  As a father, I think one of the most disturbing parts of all six movies is that scene with the kid coming to Anakin for help and him igniting his lightsaber and closing the door.  They obviously had to kill off the younglings somehow, but they really didn't have to show it in my opinion.  Making a figure of a young child character who's only role is to show that Anakin killed off a bunch of little kids just doesn't sit right with me.

That being said, I certainly hope that its something like the Solo kids, though I'd much rather have versions of them in their teens.

No, don't you know your EU? That's B'a'rrakk Ama'bo. He later flew a Snowspeeder at the Battle of Endor and became the first chancellor of color in the New Republic.

[Q&A] Answer: Interesting suggestion. There are some new human younglings coming in 2009 in a very special pack, including at least one female. However, they will not be on basic figure cards. More details will be available in early-to-mid 2009.

Well, I guess we finally have confirmation on this one - the Disney Theme Parks Jedi Training Academy 5-Pack (http://endorexpress.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=317).  The set includes some Padawan (the ones that popped up on eBay a few weeks ago) , a Jedi and Vader.  Sounds like it will be available at the SW Weekends this summer...

"The "Jedi Training Academy" show takes place several times throughout the day near the entrance to Star Tours. At Disney-Hollywood Studios in Orlando, FL, where Star Wars Weekends will again be held in may of 2009, the show occurs on a stage themed to look like the bunker on Endor, just in front of the 35-foot-tall AT-AT Walker.

Children are selected from the public, dressed in Padawan robes, and given a crash course in lightsaber technique by a Disney Cast Member portraying the Jedi Master. Those skills come in handy all too soon when Darth Vader arrives on the scene, usually heralded by his Stormtroopers, providing the younglings a chance to match sabers with the Dark Lord. The show is great fun and draws large crowds at each performance, since the interaction with the children makes every show unique.

The action figure set will be manufactured by Hasbro and retail for $39.95. "

I want to get the set just for that Vader - I don't have any figures of that character yet.  Hopefully they'll make this available through other means (fan club, online, or Disney Mall Stores).

Or they can just come to the house, lube it up, and shove it up our asses.

Sadly, I want the Jedi and Younglings.  Perhaps we can work out a deal Jman, since you need that Vader...  It's a win-win all around.

$40 is gonna hurt...  if I can find someone to pick one up for me in the first place.  I really wish Disney would stick to those super cool exclusives that are so much more broad in their appeal...  Like Slave Leia Bikini Mini Mouse statues, and other **** cool stuff like that, which whores the **** out of expands the scope of coolness that is Star Wars.

It's odd that they reused (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/ActionFigures/potj/anakinskywalkermechanic/lf.html) a non Jedi body for that pre-teen Padawan. They could've just as easily use the EI Naboo Anakin (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/html/episodei/skywalkernaboo.html) or Zett Jackassa (http://www.yakface.com/TGuide2004/html/rots/52.html) bodies as a base.

At least with those you got a functional base that lit up and played (with pretty good quality) a portion of the cantina band's song.

I really don't understand why they went with the Slave Anakin body either, they could have just as easily gone with the Padawan Anakin from the end of TPM. I've always wondered why they didn't use that mold again for a padawan. Perhaps it's one of those situations where Hasbro would claim that the tooling is no longer available.

Oh well...

Even though I'm going to get one, I gotta say it - this set SUCKS.

I am watching a few ebay auctions right now on this set, some are preorder and some are in hand. If anyone knows and easier way to get a set LMK. I would love to know the actual retail on this set so I know a fair price to pay.

It did.  A friend of mine went to SW Weekends and was able to hook me up with a set.  The Jedi Master is the best figure of the bunch.  We've gotten this same Vader countless times before.

As for the younglings?  Meh.  Two of them are like salt and pepper shakers, with very little articulation.  But then they are kitbashes of the old Saga Jedi youngling 2-packs.  The third youngling is the POTJ Anakin Skywalker with a new head, Jedi robe and lightsaber.

I'm going to Vegas/SoCal for a July 4th vacation and I plan on stopping by Disneyland again (haven't been there since I was like 16) but I'm still on the fence on this set - and no I'm not buying for everyone except for maybe locals.

So I finally ended up with this set this week... am I right that it's entirely EU?  or are these kids based on kids from EII or EIII?

I'd go a step further and say it's entirely just slapped together/made up by Hasbro.  They're good Padawan filler though.

Other than Vader of course, it's just a little filler set to me, but I liked it.

I used my imagination to say the 2x little kids were from EpII and the other two Jedi were from EpIII temple massacre...  does that count?

Nope.

They're going EU.

It's good they included that Gary Colman tribute figure in the JA 5-pack.

Picked this set up from Crunchy Nug, definitely a completist purchase.

Oops. Meant this for the boarding party thread.

i picked up the jedi knight figure that is basicly the rots agen kolar body recolored and with a different head on ebay for $9....it;s nothing special but a random generic jedi knight is always cool tohave in my book. i think if they did some random kit bashed jedi fodder figure in new waves, mabey labeled him as a geonosis arena jedi or O66 jedi it'd be a great seller. the new charecter jedi from the geo-arena 2 pks. seem to do well....im not a huge little padawan fan so i didnt ge the rest....anyone else get the whole set and open it?

I got one, and I was pleased...  a couple human Padawans are long overdue IMO, especially for O66 slaughtering fun (Now just need Cin Dralig to go with them), and I found the fairly generic Jedi Master to be worthy on the Jedi shelf too...  I may pick up an extra ROTS Sith Eyes Anakin just to have him choking that guy out at some point as he tries to defend the Padawans or something.

To me though, it's a good set, but an attrocious price for all of it...  The fate of Disney stuff though, and sometimes it's too cool to pass up.  I got all the Star Tours Droids too, and while they were pricey, I don't regret getting them either...  well, not all of them anyway.  A couple really blow, especially the latter ones.

Just kind of something in mind.  I'm thinking about adding a couple customs if I can at some point as well.  I'd really like some Younglings to surface as an "extra" with future figures.  I'm really hoping for Cin Drallig in the future though, which I'll have Anakin choking him out I think, and then some Younglings around him making a futile stand against him or something.
