Kubricks / Re: 400% Kubricks
« on: February 20, 2006, 08:16 AM »
I see the ewoks have started hitting ebay in force- $140.00 and up with BIN's. It will be interesting to see where the actual auction ones end. with ESB Fett holding pretty steady at $150.00, I can't see the furballs ending up higher than that.

Chewie- those clone bodies with the bust-up helmets are fantastic! I think Hasbro should buy their helmets from Gentle Giant for the upcoming Lucas stormtrooper, that POTF 2 hat is a joke at this point in the line.- Unfortunately that plan would result in a quality product, violating some company policy I'm sure.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: When will the ROTS clearances start?
« on: February 17, 2006, 04:54 PM »
I went to TRU tonight to check out the 4.99 sale. They had ROTS figures in megabuy two packs for 8.97 each- including 2 packs like Wookie Heavy gunner and Kit fisto, Tarkin and 65 Tactical ops trooper, C3PO and Tact Ops trooper, and many others.
Might be worth trying to fill in some holes at that rate--

Hey Hasbro! / Re: NO CHASE FIGURES!!!
« on: February 17, 2006, 02:37 PM »
It's been said in many articulate ways in the previous posts. They are bad. Period. It brings in speculators and alienates/frustrates collectors. Don't even pretend these would get to the kids.

LEGO / Re: 2006 Jabba's Sail Barge

The sail barge looks awesome, and comes with a ton of characters. I hope I run across one of these at a decent price...

Feedback / Re: Jeff's (pka Nataku) feedback

I'm way behind on giving Jeff props for all the cool stuff he has hooked me up with. My Kubrick army wouldn't be the same without him!

Just another great transaction with Matt- enjoy the Spudtroopers!

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Hoth Wave
« on: February 17, 2006, 02:22 PM »
I hope the local TRU carry the Hoth wave during the sale- I would like to grab a couple more snowtroopers and AT AT drivers. I have been comparing the AT AT with the OTC Tie Pilot. Hasbro can really do the imperial armed forces proud when they try.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: 2006 American International Toy Fair
« on: February 17, 2006, 02:18 PM »
That toy fair vader referenced above is over a grand, with reserve still not met. The seller was a buyer on an auction of mine last month, and took 2 1/2 weeks and a non-paying bidder alert before he paid.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Target "Demise of Grievous" Figure
« on: February 17, 2006, 02:15 PM »
I won't buy this figure at full price. Period. When they can give me 5 clones with new paint in a cool box for 19.99, I say that is a great deal and will be first in line. 13.00 or more for a figure is ridiculous. Somebody's got to learn a lesson in economics, and it's either them or us.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Tatooine Wave
« on: February 15, 2006, 10:52 AM »
The wave does look cool, but I kind of like the POTF2 Garindan better. I guess I am just not impressed by the cloth cloak, cloth goods are really tough to do on this small of a scale.

Power of the Force 2 / Re: Favorite POTF2 Figure.
« on: February 15, 2006, 10:49 AM »
CT stormie is definately good, it makes up the bulk of my stormtrooper army. The RH vader was just so much better than any vader before it, and still holds up well compared to the new ones. I think the CT stormie was eclipsed by the VOTC version.

Kubricks / Re: Attack of the Kubricks!
« on: February 14, 2006, 07:22 PM »
Nice score Jeff! It looks fantastic- the pefect chewtoy for the twins.. (insert evil laugh here)

We watched A New Hope the other evening. My 8 year old and 5 year old were beating on my 400% Stormies. They seem to hold up pretty well...

I used to try to keep up with all the carded variations, and gave up with TPM. At that time I let my Freeze frame set go, along with everything up to that point. Some guy in Japan bought it (and now I chase Japanese kubricks). I don't regret it, and only once in a great while do I think about how nice it would be to have the ff weequay or sandtrooper back.
I have my exceptions, and that OTC cardback got me keeping a set on the card. I was relieved that the line was limited (42 figures if you count luke dagobah x 2, holo emperor, holo leia, and wedge) and felt I could keep these pretty much forever. If they did a prequel trilogy set of roughly the same size and quality, I would do that as well.
As much as I like the card art for the new saga line, it is simply too much (quantity/time/money/space) to consider doing the same.
