I was thinking about getting in on this. For those that have backed it, what was the final price Hasbro quoted you?

Jawa
Jabba’s Skiff Guard (I think it’s Doallyn)
Chewbacca

I’ll probably buy just about anything they offer. I’m a sucker for those cards.  :P

Found a lone Rose at a local WM marked down to $4, so I went ahead and picked it up. I wonder if this price will clear the pegs. Probably not.  :-\

Star Wars Universe / Re: Is Star Wars special anymore?
« on: January 12, 2018, 03:11 PM »
Nothing can compare to the enjoyment I have every time I'm in the theater for the first time waiting for the next installment. To me, that's the best part. So I'm sure I'll keep showing up as long as I'm able.

Just prior to Disney buying the property, I had accepted the OT as "my" Star Wars. The PT was fun, if a bit whatever in parts, and I had lost track of the grind that was the Clone Wars show. I could accept that I can love Star Wars but don't have to be into everything that comes down the pike. There were about three generations of Star Wars fans at that point, now I guess it could be four. And a lot of these newer fans probably don't give a **** about the OT like most of us do.

I do think Star Wars needs some cool-down time, though. Hopefully after Solo, they'll go to a more sensible release schedule.

Found the big display at a local WM. Finally found a couple Death Troopers. Now if I could find Cassian and some Shoretroopers...

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series Sales and Discounts

Black Series figure, speeders, and Centerpiece sets are 30% off at Barnes & Noble. Didn't see how long the sale was. Grabbed a Snowtrooper for $13.50 with the extra 10% member discount.  :)

The Last Jedi / Re: TLJ 3.75" Basic Figure Line

Just ordered Leia and Luke now. Leia isn't in stock until Saturday, but they tell me I'll have Luke by then. We'll see.

I'm guessing these won't be numbered X-XII since it's not about the Skywalkers. I'm interested to see where this goes, but this could go off in a direction I don't care for. I guess it's kind of the way I felt about Guardians of the Galaxy, and I ended up loving those movies, so.

I don't know in what time period this takes place, but a series of movies about the founding of the Jedi Order and the Old Republic would get lots of my money.

Picked up Obi-Wan and Yoda today. Pegs were finally full at this WM, which was neat to see.  I'm hoping Hasbro found the right number this time, and we don't have two or three waves that don't make it to retail.

I also noticed that the lightsabers in this line no longer have the flare near the hilt that they've had since the first Saga line.

Other Toy Lines / Re: MOTU
« on: September 13, 2017, 04:41 PM »
I have a really nice collection of figures that's almost complete. Just lacking guys like Scare Glow, Flying Fists He-Man, Dragon Blaster Skeletor, Rotar and Twistoid. These have been hard to find for me in the condition I'd like them in. There's a great vintage toy store in Des Moines that I've purchased a lot of my collection from, but these guys haven't made an appearance there.

I have some vehicles and Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain that I've had since childhood. These held up pretty well, though buying all the small pieces I lost from the castles was kind of a pain.

I'd like to get the rest of the vehicles and Eternia, but I want the vehicles with their boxes, and I really don't have the space right now. Plus, all of my MOTU stuff is boxed up right now. Thinking about getting them out again...

Loved this line for as long as I could walk. I was into these toys and cartoon before I was into Star Wars, so it's my first love.  :)

Picked up everyone but Rose today. No issues at the checkout either, which was nice. The Guard seems to be in really short supply, not that I'm surprised. It's a neat figure.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Favorite Line(s) of All Time

Hmm. Let's see...

-Masters of the Universe. Love, love, love this line. My first action figure was Skeletor, and it was all downhill from there. I have an almost complete museum-quality vintage collection that's easily my favorite part of my collection. I haven't really gotten into the vehicles in this line because I want to buy them with the boxes. That box art was the best in the business.

-GI Joe. I've collected ARAH, the JvC/SpyTroops/VVV stuff, and just about every figure since the 25th line started. And the vehicles too...  :o

-Star Wars, vintage and modern. Wouldn't be here without them, and I swear collecting modern Star Wars has become so ingrained in my routine I don't know what I'd do without it. Is that weird? I can never tell.

-Transformers. I can have these now that I promise not to break them. I really like my G1 collection, mostly reissues. And the modern stuff too, though with these, I really need to go through and get rid of some.

Then there's other stuff I've collected, like Lord of the Rings and Marvel Legends, but I don't put these in the same class as the above lines.

The next phase of Generations is going to be called Power of the Primes, which I guess is neat, but they're finally doing updated versions of the Dinobots! And that Optimus/Orion Pax set is just nuts. Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in...

There's been a LOT of knockoff G1 Transformers getting out in the market last 5-10 years. The Dinobots are arguably the most common ones to be found, next to the combiners. Be cautious of sellers on ebay selling MISB specimens- the bootleggers making these even went so far as to recreate the original Hasbro packaging. I bought one, Shockwave, and it's a really neat piece, but has a bit of that knockoff feel to it. Neat boxed collectible, though.

http://highendtfs.com/?q=node/17#Grimlock- A handy guide outlining the differences between genuine and knockoff. It's pretty overwhelming exhaustive.

Of course, the easiest way to tell is usually price- a single genuine loose Dinobot is over $100, and you can score a set of five knockoffs for $200.

Glad this collection is returning. Hope they get to Jedi Master Luke soon.  :)
