Hey Hasbro! / general ideas
« on: July 21, 2005, 01:19 PM »
Been a while since I've thrown some ideas outthere:

#1 stick with movie scenes on the cards.  People in general are addicted to the movies, actual images from the movies sell product (OTC)  it's what got me hooked at age 6 seeing the actual picture from the movie on a cardack.

How about scene 2 packs, where you take a deluxe and mix with a figure?

Ex: A carded Wookie vs. a spider droid.
or a Clone trooper posed on top of a crab droid.
or a scout trooper sniper posed shotting on of those can-cells

(it would maybe be on a card the size of the Deluxe Saga Wampa with a movie scene in the background or hey....what about smaller boxed items similar to the Han/Taun-Taun, Jabba/Solo from the POTF2 days???

A repelling clone or a two pack repelling clone-I know someone is already all over this...I'm shocked it's not out already.

Sets may sell, just simple small boxed sets may work:

One could be a kashhyk playset with a wookie, a scout trooper sniper, a spider droid, and maybe some kind of small base like a sand bunker.  Doesn;t have to be priced at $30 like the Mustafar playset, but the basics are there-FIGS, with maybe a little something else thrown in.

I'm also still not going to give up on accessories.

Cost cuts?  Repacks, market a line based on the accessories, you can still use a repacked fig, but  how cool would it be to sell a wookie with a part of like a sand bunker? or a Luke Tatooine packed standing by a moisture evaporator? I REALLY liked the Saga deluxe (for example the hoth table/screen-great!)

Or a Mace and Emperor fig that both have a "glass" backdrop? (ea. fig gets a half of the glass window that was shattered)  maybe sell later an anakin that has a red carpet base that interlocks with the other 2 figs and the glasss base?  Pack the Mace in a stance like he's just ready to swing at Palypy, have Palpy packed kinda lying down, maybe even have force lightning shooting upwards.   Re-capture the scene in the bubble, AND on tha card.

sell those little guys working on utapauu, but package them with fuel lines, and a few crates, and all, would look very cool next to a starfighter.

What about an Anakin or Obi-Wan packed on top of one of those little droids they stood on above the lava?

One of the best ideas in the last 10 years was taking the deluxe wampa, and making a hoth Luke that fits with the deluxe, or the bacta tank that you could put your FX-7 with, those are where more thoughts and more items need to be made.

I don't think there was a HUGE amount of posts about an item like the deluxe wampa/Luke fitting together, but man everyone I talked to LOVED it!!!!!!!!

It's kind of the old motto where 99 of 100 things are good...you'll only hear about that one bad thing.

Vintage Kenner / Finally!
« on: May 25, 2005, 10:02 AM »
Well, I fianlly broke down and got a carded Yakface the other night.

Yeah, it's on a tri-logo card and I paid a few $ more than I would have really liked to, but hey after years of searching, and bidding, and being sniped at the last second...I finally just got tired and went for broke.

To win it by only 9 cents made it that much sweeter. ;^)

also got a VERY nice boxed vinatge 12" Leia, been wanting a loose one without her buns all messed up, but no luck.  Grabbed one for about $130 boxed, and I'll tell you it's in better shape than I ever would have hoped for.  Never detached from the cardboard backer, accessories still intact, the cardboard box doesn;t even have the crease it usually does from being folded back at some point along the way, a real beauty. (always love seeing the vinatge original price stickers when you get a vintage piece heh $11)

Weird that a lot of prices are through the roof right now, but managed to squeak out a few nice finds.  Very happy with Ebay  over the last few weeks.

Other Collectibles / QVC tonight
« on: May 22, 2005, 10:33 PM »
1AM show tonight, some items are already up on www.qvc.com search for star wars.

I grabbed the Hildebrandt signed print.  edition size of 1977 prints.

Also snagged the SW #0 comic from Dark Horse, one of the few Dark Horse titles I actually needed, and now I get it signed ($15 wasn't too too bad, I guess).

Other Collectibles / SW mastercard site update
« on: May 13, 2005, 09:05 AM »
www.galacticrewards.com has recently updated (its been a while) they added the kotobukiya Vader, ROTS comic, games, etc.

Plus it's in a new format.  Also, if you signed up for the Mastercard way back when it was first introduced your points will start to expire soon, so you may want to check it out and spend them if you got 'em.

Just a reminder.

The Prequel Trilogy / ROTS Screening
« on: May 12, 2005, 04:54 PM »
Well, I lucked out and it looks like I'm going to be seeing ROTS not only on Wed. around midnight, but Mon. or Tues. around midnight as well.

I was able to score some freebie seats for a private screening here in Pittsburgh, so I called a few buds, and as for the last available seat I'm raffling it off to one of the PSWCS fellas.

This will be pretty cool, I know some press and some insiders already saw it, but to still  be able to see it in front of about 95% of the free world is pretty cool.

AKA "The Mace Windu workout"
AKA Lightsaber Battle Game

Has anyone else picked this up.  It's actually a pretty fun game.  I picture this as one of those party games you pull out once everyone gets all lit up.

I had to lose about 10lbs. playing this this last night. Holy crap!

Celebration III: Indianapolis / Hasbro Booth at CIII
« on: April 27, 2005, 01:17 PM »
Big thumbs up to the Hasbro booth.  Very nice PROFESSIONAL display area.

Attacktix-luv these things(I'm digging the chromes right now have about a doz.), and I love the fact the kids were into them also.  Fun watching everyone playing this.

Miniatures- (not sure if it's technically Hasbro or not)  The bigger guys like the ATAT, ATST, Bantha etc. WOW!

CCG, have faded away for me, seemed like the CCG area was a shadow at the show.

Figs-Where to begin.  The M&M's are a must have for me! Love those guys, and excellent packaging.  500th Vader-once again neat idea with the chamber package.

Handouts were nice, poster, Attacktix from the Wal-Mart tent slaes, and Mini nautolan were nice little additions to the freebie bag.

Figs, just look great!  The Titanium series really looked good displayed under the lights, gace this a second thought and may go back and try and snag these..  (the exclusive gold Titanium exclusive with "Indianapolis 2005" on the side ROCKS!)

Very nicely done.  Only thing I was hoping for (and I probably just missed it) was last time they seemed to have more crowd interaction-molding figs, artists signing cards.  I enjoyed getting the Unleashed cardbacks signed in San Diego, was hoping for more of this type of stuff in Indy.  Those little touches are what make the whole experience "exclusive" in my opinion.

Other Collectibles / Mardi Gras/Star Wars Doubloons
« on: February 26, 2005, 05:02 PM »
Anyone else collect SW Mardi Gras stuff?

I got talking to one of the guys (Gary) over at the PSWCS, and lately have kinda been into the MArdi Gras stuff, mostly the doubloons.

Anyhow, I have 2 coins from '79 and '82, and an R2 necklace '02, and was wondering if anyone else was into this stuff.  Kinda hard to find cheap, kinda up there for what you get, but fun nonetheless.

The other item I;ve been trying to find cheap is the Yoda/Bourbon Street poster from years ago (I know...good luck)  every so often one hits ebay for some $$$, been snooping around New Orleans on my trips there and no luck on any of this stuff.
