This is sure to cause an uproar, but this rumor over at TNI is stating that Jessica Simpson has been contacted about a role (as Dazzler) in X-Men 3.  Supposedly it would be a small role, to possibly build upon later.

Simpson in X-Men 3?

I know a lot of people strongly dislike her, so I'm sure that this won't be met with much pleasantness.  I guess if it is a smaller role, and her acting isn't awful, it isn't too big of a deal.

Latest Shaq rumblings (according to Sportscenter this morning)...

Miami receives:

C Shaquille O'Neal

L.A. Lakers receive:

F Brian Grant
F Lamar Odom
1st Round Draft Pick

Don't know if this will happen or not, but Wade and Shaq together could be a formidable combo, especially in the East.

I still have all of mine, stashed away in a baggie...in a box....in a rubbermaid....in a closet :).  I don't really know why I keep them anymore, I just do.  I have them all clipped, so they don't take up much room, but if it gets down the road a few years and I'm really sure they are worthless, I'll probably just go ahead and ditch them.

Thanks for those lists guys, that is exactly what I was looking to see.  Part of me would really like to have some shelves full of the Marvel Universe, and I've been seriously considering adding some more to the mix.  If I can figure out a new place from some of the Star Wars stuff to free up some shelf space, I might get started on that.  I'm thinking about holding out for the Fantastic Four box set, just because it would probably be a cheaper way to go (although I do see Human Torch, Thing, and Mr. Fantastic around here a lot)...and I'm definitely saving some cash for the Sinister Six set.  Other past figures I've been considering include Captain America (although I haven't seen one for awhile, might have to wait for the next version instead), Iron Man (another comic that I was fairly regular with as a kid, and the figure seems good...again, might have to wait for the next one), Silver Surfer (don't know much about him, but the figure looks cool), and upcoming wave figures such as Brown Wolvie, Juggernaut, Phoenix, Iceman, Storm, Hawkeye, Vision, etc.  Thanks again for the info and advice guys!

I thought Alba was an odd choice as well.  Nothing against her at all, but some of the other actresses rumored (Rachel McAdams, Elisha Cuthbert) made more sense to me.  We'll see how it turns out...they were supposed to have the "official" announcement last week already (according to Avi Arad), so maybe it will come sometime this week.

SuperHeroHype has an article up today that Variety is reporting that 3 of the Fantastic 4 have been CAST

Here's who they say the choices are:

Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic - Ian Gruffudd
Ben Grimm/The Thing - Michael Chiklis
Johnny Storm/Human Torch - Chris Evans

Sue Storm is the one not officially cast yet, and the front runner according to this article is now Jessica Alba....Rachel McAdams and Keri Russell are also rumored contenders.

I'd like to be in as well, but don't want to take a spot away from the "regulars" since I haven't been able to participate in the past.  Do you do a "live" draft, or the other way?  I've never done the actual "live" draft before in our work leagues.

Oh...a few other NBA tidbits here....apparently Orlando has signed top pick Dwight Howard, and also agreed to terms with Hedo Turkoglu (Spurs can still match) on a 6 year, 39M deal (LINKY).  Also, word is that Vince wants out of Toronto, so another superstar on the trading block.  Also, the Jazz have re-signed Carlos Arroyo....and finally, Phoenix has apparently gotten Quentin Richardson to agree to an offer sheet (Clips can match) of around 50M.

That was the trade I had heard rumored as well Scott, and to be honest, I really hope that is true.  Allen is a great player, and I think would compliment the Wolves well.  Lots of firepower with a lineup of Sammy C, Allen, Spree and KG.  Honestly, I can't see why Boston would do that trade, but then again it is Ainge.  If that offer is on the table...like you said...do it, and do it now! :)

So, how has everyone's hunts for these been going?  I know not everyone is thrilled about these, and may not be getting them...but it seems its been pretty quiet on the Target glasses front lately.  I was originally planning on only picking up the OT glasses, but might break and pick up the PT ones if they go on clearance.  I have never seen any sign of the Luke and Anakin cups, and Obi and Maul are clogging up the shelves at most Targets around here.  I did see the Leia cups one time, and thankfully picked one up as I haven't seen them since.  Have the rest of you found all of these, or do you intend to pick them all up at all?

I'd like to see Napoleon Dynamite as well, I hope that it plays around here.  It looks like it could be pretty funny.

With the often high prices of going to the theatre to catch a movie, how often do you go multiple times to the same film?  I always enjoy the theatre experience, and if it wasn't for the cost, I would probably "repeat view" more often.  For me, I think the only movies I have gone to more than once would be Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and I'd like to go see Spidey 2 once or twice more yet.  Do any of you go to the theatre more than once, or do you go...and wait out the DVD/VHS offering?

Although I have been primarily a Spidey, sprinkled with some X-Men from ML, collector...I have recently been thinking about going and picking up a few more of the Legends figures.  It will have to wait until I figure out a way to have more space to display both my Star Wars and Marvel collections, but I was just curious what some of your opinions are on the past figures, or which were some of your favorites?  If I pick up any, I'm leaning towards the Fantastic Four (probably wait for the box set, even though the Torch is different), and the Avengers (always enjoyed Capt. America and Iron Man among others) to start out with.  Looking back on those waves, do you feel that Legends has come a long way with their figures, and maybe some (not all) seem a little outdated now?  Also, would a person be better off waiting for future releases (examples of Modern Iron Man and "Ultimate" Captain America coming up).  I might not be able to get more, due to space and budget constrictions, but I always enjoy reading all of your opinions on some of your favorites...they can be from any of the Marvel lines if you like...Legends, Spidey/Hulk/X-Men classics, etc.  Also...while on that topic...do those of you who collect these lines buy them all (sans re-releases or variant/chase)...or do you pick and choose.  How big is your Marvel Universe :)?

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Vintage OTC Figures
« on: July 7, 2004, 11:42 AM »
I don't usually like to order much online if I don't have to (and I've never ordered a case before), but if any case would be tempting, I think it would be this one.  I just have a bad feeling that the ROTJ figures from the VOTC will be by far the toughest to find (especially Boba Fett and the Stormtrooper).  Now if we could only see what they are going to look like (well, Fett, Chewie and R2). :)
