Very cool indeed.  I like the wolves on the sides of the helmet and the holster is top notch.  Keep up the fantastic work!!

Another great job, hemble!!  It amazes me that Hasbro took so long to use articualtion in their previous figures, the poses that you placed Han in make your customizing stand out even more.
I really like the belt and holster on this one also.  Looking forward to more of your stuff!! :)

Title: 12" Clone Trooper Ep3
Post by: hemble on April 5, 2005, 02:54 AM
Hi All
It's been a looooong time since I've posted anything been busy with work so I got to do the Clone trooper over the last couple of days so let me know what you think.

All in all not a bad figure I took off the armour and resized it and added it to a DML body the only thing I'm not 100% with is the head it's slightly to big but other then that he turned out ok.

I painted him with acrylics and modellers paints I've only seen snips of the trailers and thought it it be cool to have him really dirty with all the fighting he has been doing.

Beautiful work there Ron.  Love the weathering/battle-worn effects there.  Makes it look 100x better and more realistic than Hasbro's half-assed attempt at it.  I trust you based that off their new 12" figure, including the head too, right?  If so, that'd explain it being a smidgeon too big, but it's hardly noticeable.

But I'll let Jesse James give you a proper critique though, as I'm a total novice a this kind of stuff.  But keep 'em coming.  Looks great, and I'd love to see some more of your work displayed here at JD.   8)

Thanks Guys

DD - I'll have to admit I'm not a big SW fan :o :o, I've been a Startrek fan for over 20 yrs and also a SG1 nutter for years.
I have made a few SW figures but the new 12" line has got me really buzzing with the posibilities for customizing so I hope to do a number of 12" customs

Matt - the body is a Dragon body and the armour is the hasbro trooper, I'm redoing a 12" General Grievous at the moment and hopefully have him posted over the weekend and then I'll be starting on a 12 ' Elite Trooper.

Thank you for sharing - feel free to add more stuff here!

Holy crap! I like the weathering techniques and the re-size on the armor. The Clone Armor never looked like it fit exactly right on the hasbro body. Very good job, and I can't wait to see Greivous!

Title: 12" General Grievous
Post by: hemble on April 9, 2005, 07:45 AM
Hi All

Well just completed Grievous, this was just a repaint of the new hasbro figure. All paints used on the figure are from Games workshop

1: sprayed the whole figure matt black
2: undercoated the armour flat white and then gave it a coat of bleached bone.
3: once dry gave it a wash of flat black and then a wash of flat white and finally a 2 part wash of flat black and bleach bone.
4: the metal parts were drybrushed with boltgun metal and then slighty dry brushed with mithrill silver.
5:the bely was painted with a 2 part of goblin green and flat black and then drybushed with a 2 part of snot green and flay white.
6: the cloak is from the figure it was given a very slight drybrush of ash grey and blood red, the cloak as 4 slot in it so he can hold he's sabers as per the STARWARS revenge of the sith visual dictioany.

Hope you enjoy

Post by: hemble on April 10, 2005, 07:30 AM
Hi All

Just completed another figure this afternoon picked up Dooku at toys-r-us yesterday dirt cheap so I thought what the hay.

This has to be the easist figure I've done so far, I took the head of the Hasbro body and repainted it with acrylics and then put it on a DML body and then slighty weathered the clothing and repainted the saber.

Oh my God, that looks REAL!!!

Great job... man you are really showing how good the 12" could be if Hasbro did it right...

If you are looking for other ideas, the ROTS 12" Palpatine had a great looking head sculpt, but your painting would make it look like the actor got shrunk down to a toy.

I think that's the REAL Christopher Lee photoshopped with articulation and superimposed on the background... ;D

Damn, that looks simply amazing! The flesh tones on his face are so realistic...I'll bet if we looked closely at his hands, he's even have liver spots!

Simply incredible!

Title: Stargate Col Jack O'Neill SG-1 (lots of pics)
Post by: hemble on May 5, 2005, 03:55 AM
Hi All

finished O'Neill off in the wee hours of the morning I do apologize if it's not suppose to be here but I know a few of you are Stargate fans.

the head is from a memeber over on OSW as are the tranfers it was painted acrylics all the gear is from Dragon except the jacket which is from elite force(BBI) which have been weathered and slightly sanded.

I decided to give him a kevlar helmet instead of his well known baseball cap as I could'nt find one anywhere.

The boots have been redone using small eyelets and string a big thanks to scanmandan for sending me the eyelets and string.

the P90 sling is made from some old strips of material edging and also some modern day clips I had in the bits box.

Awesome! It looks great it's even better than your tan camo version from Serpant's Song.

I do have one minor nitpick with the costume though. The vest pockets aren't accurate. Instead of them being vertical like they are, there should be 3  horizontal pouches and the radio pouch. Some SG team members wear vests like that, and SG-1 does with certain uniforms, but not this one. Again, that is just minor this figure looks great, keep it up!!!! :)

Sith Lord Chaos - hi mate I have'nt been able to find a vest that even comes close to the one SG1 wears I have been told you can make one but you have to buy 2 vests to make 1 accurate one and I just can't afford it.

So the next best thining  is the webbed version vest.

hemble,

that is an amazing piece of work you have made. your attention to detail is outstanding and O'Neill looks ready to take on the Goa'uld at a moment's notice. I do gotta say though, that after seeing the first pic of Jack with his glasses on, the first thing to pop into my head was "hey it's James Woods!" Hehehe I don't know why I thought of that, but it strikes me as funny. Anyways, it's a great custom, are there plans for the rest of SG1?

happy customizing!

Post by: hemble on May 8, 2005, 06:53 AM
Hi All

Completed yet another Starwars figure and as with dooku he was pretty easy custom.

the whole figure is from Hasbro I swapped everything over to a DML body and repainted the head and hands with acrylics.

The boots, belt and saber have also been repainted the saber has been shortened by cutting a few milimetres from the middle and then both ends re-glued back together.

I gotta tell ya, Hemble, your painting skills are really something to behold. The flesh on your characters has all the right tones and highlights...it's amazing.

I think the bodies you use for these are great. Makes me wonder why Hasbro does such a crappy job, then carps about how the 12' inch line does so poorly. I'd buy 12' figures in a heartbeat if they all looked as good as yours.

Nice paint job. That just goes to show you that a good paint job can make all the difference in the world.

I think the bodies you use for these are great. Makes me wonder why Hasbro does such a crappy job, then carps about how the 12' inch line does so poorly. I'd buy 12' figures in a heartbeat if they all looked as good as yours.

If I'm not mistaken, this question has been answered by Hasbro directly. They claim that since most of the people who buy the 12" line leave them in their boxes, they didn't feel the need to use a better body that would never be removed from the box. Also, it would raise the cost of the figures.

it is easy to pop the head from a hasbro body to a dragon body just put the had under boilong water and let it soften and just pull it.

Hi All

Well I'll give it a go showing my customs figures which are all 12" figures so far,  as I make them I'll post around 4 pics of each figure and what items I used and what I did to each Item. And the rest of the pics will on my site at www.hemblecreations.com

To start off I'll put up good ole Indiana Jones recipe is as follows

1:head & fedora -  is from The frontline painted as per the tutorial the fedora is painted with browns and tans to get the desired colour.
2:Jacket, pants, shirt, boots and holster belt are all from Dragon weathered and painted using acrylics.
3:Bag, whip and holster are all custom made using materials from a art store and then agian weathered and painted.
4:the body is from dragon and the hands are from BBI.

Hemble, oh my Dear God.

I am usually not a fan of 12" stuff, but you have just changed that for me.  For me, it goes without saying that you are the BEST 12" customizer I've ever seen.  I started looking through your site, and my jaw almost hit the keyboard.

There are some other good 12" customizer out there, but you go the extra mile.  I am stunned at how real your stuff looks.  I remember seeing that Dooku before, but I didn't know who did it.  I shall not forget again.

Keep the updates coming... I suggest you update with a new figure highlighted in this thread at least once a week.

Hi All

12" Star Trek (The Cage) Captain Pike

Finnished of Captain Pike from the Pilot episode the Cage.

1:The head is from Playmates and it's not a bad scuplt at all of Jeffrey Hunter, I dipped the head in acetone to get rid of the original paint and then repainted it using acrylics.
2:The uniform is also from Playmates Pike figure I had to do some sewing to get it to fit right but all in all it was'nt to hard and then just put it on a Dragon Body.
3:The boots and hands are from Dragon I just reapinted the hand using acrylics and gave the boots a light drybrush.
4:The phaser came with the figure and agian I just repainted it and the tricorder was fro the AMT kit of Spock which I painted and added a leather strap.

Good Lord!!! Look at those eyes!!! :o :o :o

This figure makes it clear that while you are amazing at painting elsewhere, when it comes to painting eyes, you are god. ;) Seriously those are fantastic. If I make one humble suggestion though, I think the costume could use a bit of wear and tear, the leather looks brand new and his pants look freshly washed. I have no idea how hard that is on 12" figures, but I think it would improve it a lot. The Trek figure looks cool as well, I have never seen the character or the original figure so I can't really critique it, but it does look really nice. :)

Those were my first words as I saw Harrison Fords big plastic head. That is one hot piece there, very very well done. I wish that I could go out and buy such a figure of that quality. not likely..

Anakin is pretty creepy looking, but quite nice. I like his facial..paintings?  ;)

But I must say, it is the Captain Pike that does it for me. I never was much of a Star Trek fan, and far from a Trekkie, but I always liked Captain Pike. Given what little bit of him that there is, I think he was a much mor einterestign Captain that Kirk. I'm not sure I've even ever seen a captain pike action figure ro anything.. very nice indeed.

Hi All
Sorry I have'nt posted for a while my dad had been very ill and passed away a few days ago and things were very hectic to say the least. But as he always said (Never stop doing something that you love to do) :)

So I thought I would show you a Gorn figure(7 inch's tall) that I have redone.
I got the artasylum Gorn figure and super glued his joints and then used Green stuff(GW) and puttied up his joints and then sprayed him with matt black.
After he dried I started painting with Vallejo paints I used different greens until I was happy with the way he looked then I gave him a wash of 2 parts white ink and 2 parts green ink and once that dried gave him a dry brush of different greens until I got the desired colour.
The tunic was painted gold and then the brow, red/orange and gold patches were added then I gave it a dry brush of gold and khaki. There's more pics on my site in the
Custom TV & Movie Figure ection

sorry pics lost

Fantastic.  This is one of the few Star Trek creatures that I really like.  Reminds me of a Star Wars cantina alien or something.

Your customizing skills are outstanding... I'd love to see some 3-3/4" figures by you!

This section has been sorely missing your customs for awhile now. I'm not a Trek fan at all, but I LOVE that figure. I'm somewhat disapointed there is no articulation but that is ok because when the paintjob looks that nice, I think I'd be afraid to touch it and leave any fingerprints. The skin is so realistic looking. Be sure to update more often.  :)

I'm sorry to hear about your father BTW. :(

I'm sorry about your father hemble.   :(

I think you're probably the first person to remove points of articulation in making a custom figure!  Well, if you're not the first, then you're one of the only ones!
Great paint job on that figure, I don't know anything about Trek but that guy looks pretty menacing!

Hi Guys

Thanks for the kind words regarding  my dad and also regarding the figure I mustadmit I have missed it very much.

Gregorbian & Ryan - The figure is going on a small dio so that's why the articulation was removed but now that you have mentioned it would've looked good with it lucky I have 2 of them.

CHEWIE - Your wish has come true my friend I'm doing some 3-3/4 figures at the moment I'm sticking with some basic figures first to see how they turn out I will have the first figure up very soon.

Well here it is my first ever 3-3/4 figure It is just a repainted Obi-Wan kenobi from the pilot Gear figure.

I used Games Workshop and Vallejo paints and added wash's and dry brush's to him let me know what you think. Also how do I get the link to directly to the next custom?

Sweet ****! You've done it again. I have always like that figure of Hasbro's, but seeing your repaint makes not like it as much. :P That is aboslutely amazing looking. I thin what really does it for me is the layering job on the skin, it makes it so much more realistic looking. I think the only advice I can give would be to add the little bits of grey to the sideburns and maybe give his hair a few more highlights, it its the flatest color on the body. Other than those two very minor quibbles that is one phenomonal figure. I'm really glad you are posting here again. :)

I agree with SLC, the skin is amazing. I also love how much detail you brought out on his costume. If Hasbro's figure is a projection screen version, yours would be the fully digital theatre version!   ;D

hemble that is really great.  if i wasn't so familiar with this figure i would never have thought you could get that much detail to come out of a 3 3/4 figure, it totally looks like i would have to be a 12 inch.  i would really love to see you do a version of the crispy Anakin and the Evo emperor.  if you can pull that much detail out of obi i'd really like to see your take on these other 2.

What really strikes me, more than the face, is how you got EVERY DETAIL in the sculpt of the costume to stand out.  Simply amazing.  If Hasbro could paint as well as they can sculpt, this figure would never peg warm.

Hi All

I have 2 new figures today the first is a Clone Trooper that I have done the base figure is the super articulated clone this is what I added to him.

CLONE TROOPER  SPECIAL OPS UNIT
1:visor made from plasticard and parts from the bits box which was then pinned in place so it could still move I also added plasticard aroun the top of the helmet and down the back.
2:The antenna is from a 1/72 scale machine gun and a 1/72 scale tank I repositioned them to sit upright.
3:The small backpack is an old sandtroopers bino's I ahd lying around I just cut the top off connected the troopers ariel mount to and and glued it in place.
4:The ammo pouches and holster are from some old 4" figures I had lying around the straps are pleather cut to size and I added a Han Solo pistol to the pouch the shoulder pad is from an old sandtrooper figure a friend gave ages ago I just cut it to the desired shape.
The whole figure was given a flat black wash then all excess apint removed the troopers colours are a dark green then the whole figure was drybrushed in whites, flat earth and browns to get the desired look.

YODA FROM EP-V THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

Yoda was hard to paint has I noticed that is skin tone had changed from each movie - ie ROTS is dark and ESB it was alot lighter I can only gather that it's due to his old age. So began with a dark green for the base colour and then started to high light using different greens till a got a skin tone I liked. The clothing was almost done excatly the same as Obi - Wan except I used a lighter brown for the base coat and then drybrushed it with bleached bone then khaki. The rest of his clothing was done in brown and then the whole figure was drybrushed.
The base is from the figure I painted it dark brown and then started highlighting it with different browns, earths and khaki's till I got a natural lookthe leaves are from my diorama box I glued them on and gave them a wash of light brown.

Man am I glad you branched out into 3 3/4". Those are ******* awesome. The clone is very nicely weathered, he doesn't look overdone at all. The pauldron is excellent because it is different form the other kind of ROTS clone pauldrons we have seen. I really like the addition of the backpack as well.

While I'm absolutely blown away by the Yoda, it is the base that really does it for me. it is attention to detail like that that makes your customs so damn sweet. The painted sanke is perfect, the lines are straight. The highlighting on the rock makes it look so reallistic.

I'mk really looking forward to seeing more of your work. :)

Holy smokes... I can't believe how well you are at painting.  I'm totally blown away.  I would have to say that I think you may already be the best I've seen!

The goggles on the clone look a little different, but not bad.  Just different.  And his weathering looks so real it's like looking at a movie image.

The Yoda is great too.  And the base is unreal.  Looks like it's much larger than a 3-3/4" figure.  The detail is unlike anything I've seen!

Holy crap dude!  The paint job on that Yoda is absolutely stunning!  Nice paint apps on the base, very detailed!
The clone is also very nicely done.  I like the custom made visor - it really looks perfect.  The "battle-damage" or weathering effects (whichever you want to call it) is incredible.  It's definitely the right balance between hasbro's overly clean clones (which I'm partial to) and some of the over-weathered clones out there.  Great work!

I agree with Ryan - I'm so glad that you decided to start doing these 3 3/4" figures!

Title: Obi-wan In ROTS Clone Trooper Armour 3&3/4
Post by: hemble on November 11, 2005, 05:35 AM
Hi All

Well I just completed my real first custom this week the parts I used are obi-wan in flight gear and super articulated Clone trooper.
I kept the lower torso and legs, hands, helmet and shoulder parts of the trooper and the head, upper body, lower robes and forearms of Obi-wan.
I had to cut open the Obi torso to get the Troopers legs and shoulders in and I slipped the lower robes over the legs so once that was done I super-glued the body together and feeled in the gaps.
The Obi forearms were modified to fit the upper arm section and the hands were also modified and was I was happy I painted the whole figure using Vallejo and GW paints

Hi Guys

Here is my custom Bounty Hunter Seltor Meslete the characters name comes from my character from SW Galaxies which is a Bounty Hunter and the colour of the armour is what he looked like in the game except it wasn't clone armour he was wearing but it's pretty close to it.

the whole body except the arms are the super articulated trooper teh arms are from the OTC Luke I just cut off the forearm and and added the troopers forearm.

The pouches are from the BBI elite force figures, the cape is a piece of pleather and I added a antenna and range finder to his helmet and puttied up area's of his helmet.

The figure was painted with Vallejo and GW paints and wear and tear and weathering was added to him.

Holy Crap, that's awesome Hemble.  I really like this paint scheme you used.  It is a nice, fresh color that seems to be rarely used for whatever reason.  The cloth cape looks fantastic.

What kind of helmet does he have in the game?  Is it close to a Clone helmet?

I can't remember the exact name of the armour but the helmet he wears in the game is more like a Boba helmet it's more around on top and slops a little at the front.

Glad you like the biceps they were a pain to do Luke being of correct height in the new OTC range made his arms really short when put next to the clone so I had to some cutting to get it right without loosing any articulation.

wow, that is an awsome custom hemble! very creative use of clone armor and the colors are just sick! where did you get the pouches around his belt, those look really good as well.

the arms look a bit thin in proportion to the rest of the figure, but still look good.

again this is a great figure, one of my fav's of your, aside from your ki-adi-mundi revamp. keep up yhe great work and the original charecters, thanks for showing them!

Wow! I really like the bounty hunter, Hemble! The colors and paint job are phenomenal, and I love the way the cape looks.

My only quibble is those VOTC Luke Arms look way too skinny. He looks a little less intimidating when you realize he's got skinny 12 year old girl arms...I'd suggest using the arms from one of the many current GI Joes that are a little more buffed up.

Thanks for the feedback .

Glad you all like the paint work I didn't think it was going to turn out this well but I was very happy with the end result.

With the arms I didn't even think of using GI Joe arms wish I did now he does have girly looking arms when you really look at it .

Fantastic updates Ron! The Han is phemomonal, I never thought there was anything wrong with the VOTC figure until I saw your's. That is what it should have looked like. I think what reallly amazes me, besides the ability to capture perfect skintones, is how smooth the the paint apps are. The paint doesn't look too thick and there is no evidence of brush strokes.

Seltor is a great figure as well. The part choice is really good, but I agree his arms are a bit girlish. The belt and they cape look excellent on him. The weathering is very nicely done, it looks random and isn't overdone. The burgundy/green color scheme looks really sharp.

Keep up the great work! :)

Hi Chewie

Thanks for the comments mate really apprecaite them. also here is another figure.

Jaffa Warrior Stargate 12 inch
I had done this figure about a year ago now and decided to take better pics as the other's where very dark.

The head is Imotep I thought it would make a good Jaffa you can get it from here http://www.h2creative.com/HeroHeads.html. I added the head crest using greenstuff nothing fancy just a few wany lines.
The body is from Dragon as is the chain mail the chain mail skirt is just some medical bandage and the wrap is from an old Hasbro Obi-Wan clothing.
The shoulder armour is plastic sheet and clothing elastic, the wrist bands are from the bits box and teh staff weapon was done by a mate in the states I just modified it a little. Then the figure was painted with Gw and Reaper miniature paints

Hi All

This is an older custom figure I did I pulled him out from the wardrobe and pulled him apart and redid him. The figure is Klaang from Enterprise Broken Bow this is what he looked liked before a started http://www.startrekdb.se/leksaker/art_asylum/broken_bow/broken_bow.php?visa=broken_bow-klaang.jpg.

The only thing that I did'nt sand or cut away where the legs and head, once everything was removed I got to work on him.
1-The tunic is from an old t-shirt which I cut it to size and sewed and glued to the main bodyand added elastic strips and cord to it.
I then added the back armour using plasti-card cut out to the desired shape and thinkness.
2-The shoulder armour is a combination of plasti-card and rubber and elastic strips.
3-The arms where covered in and old hankychief and then covered with static grass to give it that furry look.
4- The belt is some old hard rubber I had lying around and teh holster is made from scrap leather.
5-The hands where covered with greenstuff and molded and then plasti-card was used for the spikes

I re-painted the body using Vallejo, Reaper miniature, GW and artist paints. And for the head and hands I used artist paints and GW paints.

sorry pics lost

Thanks mate glad you like em with the paint you have 2 options
1- sand down the joint sections a little so that paint doesn't rub
2- once you've painted the joints use a little super glue on the area's you don't want rubbing to occur.

Hi All

Well I'm back  ;D it's been to bloody long for my taste I've finally completed all the commission works I had to do and I just got a patch of SW figures so it won't be long before you'll see my next SW custom and repaint.

Also I've hasd a quick look at people's customs and I'll reply to them all in the next couple of days you guys/gals sure have been busy. So to start of a new year I decided to do the figure below he took me 10.5 hrs over the weekend LMK what you think.

When Enterprise aired the In a Mirror Darkly episode I knew I had to make a Mirror universe Archer I've always liked these kind of episodes and this was no exception Archer has had scuplting done and he was painted using  Reaper and GW paints.

Body - The body from head to toe is the Artasylum Archer from Broken Bow.
Head - The head has been cut and sanded down and greenstuff was added to give him the spikey look from the episode.
Belt, holster and shoulder strap - These have been made from left over leather and small wire was attached to the ends of the straps to the belts.
Weapons - The laser pistol is from the Archer figure set and the knife and sheath are from Artasylums Mirror universe Kirk.
Shoulder epelets, patches and decorations - the epelets are from leather and plasticard card cut to size and painted and the
decorations are also made from plasticard and painted and the patches are from the internet resized, printed and cut out and glued.

sorry pics lost

Hi All

Well finally got a SW custom finished and this little bugger took me ages to do as I wanted life like looking fur on him instead of just a normal repaint.

Teebo is from Hasbro and has had a layer of static grass added to his body using woodglue, Once dried the static grass was then painted using Reaper miniature paints.
I let the fur dry for 2 hours then re-applied a lighter colour of grey to the fur then painted in the white stripes and the eyes, mouth, teeth using GW paints.
The head gear, spear, horn and knife sheath were painted using Reaper and GW paints and the horn and sheath were given leather straps from the spare parts box. Also I was able to keep all the articulation for the figure.

Hi Guys

TR1ER - Thanks for the kind words mate I really apprecaite it.

Master_Phruby - Cheers mate, And for the snobunny Padme instead of static grass you can buy a product from woodland scenics (FC144 - Bushes - Olive Green) all you would have to do is put some in a sieve and shake it onto a piece of paper and use that.

Once you have the amount you want glue the area you are goping to use and then dab the the bushes that are on teh paper to the glued area's wait to dry and then paint I think this would make a better looking fur for Pame's costume.

Hi All

Chewbacca and C-3PO are from Hasbro's SAGA figure's I added a layer of static grass to Chewie to give him life like looking fur like I did with Teebo. I then painted him various colours of brown's, tan's and black to get the right fur colour C-3PO was given a black wash and then a drybrush of two different golds to get the desired colour both figure's were painted with Reaper miniature's, Vallejo and GW paints. I want to do the OTC Chewie in fur but wanted to try it on an older figure first again I was able to keep all the articulation.

Hemble, your ewok is amazing. the fur "length" works great for that particular character and makes him look completely movie accurate along with the wonderful paint apps. this is a really creative way to have a realistic furry ewok.

the Chewie doesn't seem to work as well, considering how long his fur was in the movies, it kind of looks as if he had a bad hair cut. the paint apps are great on him, i just think a different kind of fur would work much better that had a longer length to it on him.

I hate to say it... but I agree that the Chewbacca figure doesn't look as good with this material.  Your technique is unreal and surpasses ANYTHING that I could ever attempt though.  So that's not a knock on the Wookiee, it just seems to work better on Teebo for some reason.  I don't know how many other species besides Ewoks it would work on... maybe a Whipid or something, it might look great on that species.  Or a Lak Sivrak figure too maybe.

Really though I think it comes down to us recognizing Wookiee hair as being kind of long.  But again, I commend you for a great custom and trying something most of us wouldn't even dream of trying.  Well done Hemble.

I have to agree the hair isn't long enough to work as effectively on a wookie but Teebo I think it looks good on him due to the short hair, I'm glad I did it on an older figure first then the new OTC Chewie, well back to the drawing board as they say.

My only problem with Chewie is his face.  I think the body and limbs look perfect, but the static grass didn't really work for the face.  Do they make longer static grass?

Most outstanding update - isn't that Imperial Officer great for parts?  I did a couple of Rykrof's similar to that, did that influence the idea at all.  Great job converting to a Stormtrooper for parts.  I love it.

Luke and Yoda rock too... very well done.  I can't wait too seem them in color, but there is something artistic about it being done in black and white.

Hi Chewie

Thanks mate and spoton it is the imp officer and yep I did get the idea after seeing your Rykrof I could'nt belive how well he looked(thanks mate) and thought I'll have to give him ago.

I think your going to love the colour version of Luke and Yoda I got alot more detail out in both figures it took me 6 days just to do these to so I hope you and the other guys/gals like them.

With the black and white pics I have to agree and also it leaves a little mystery to what it really looks like.

Holy freakin' cow! I'm sure I will be equally impressed with the Luke/Yoda when you release the color pic, but this Imperial Officer is amazing! Way to take a good idea and really expand on it. This design seems so... so probable. I've never bought into the idea that Stormies go into battle all decked out in armor while the officers just take it on faith they won't need any. :)

Beautiful work.

great work hemble, i'd thought of that idea as well based off of chewie's work with rykrof.  another option i'd thought of was to give him the snowtrooper skirt, and the chest armor/with an AT-AT or AT-ST helmet.

Ok Guys
The Imperial officer was made using three different figures, I had to cut the neck, legs and pop the arms off the old imperial officer

I then had to drill out the legs and arms to fit the sandtrooper parts. I also cut Veer's neck off and glue it to the body once I got the

desired look I then repainted him using GW and Reaper miniature paints

1-Imperial officer body #55
2-Head and neck section are from General Veers SAGA collection #07
3-Arms,legs, helmet and belt are from the sandtrooper from the EVOLUTION series #1
4-Pouches, holster and laser pistol are from the bits box.

I don't really know a better way to put it, but those are just crazy good, man!

I always love to see something that's already really good like that Luke and Yoda improved in your style.

Taking the concept of a lightly armored imperial commander to the level you have here is magnificent. This I'll most certainly give a try at some point.

Great work.

Great to see these figures in color.  They both look great.  Always impressed with your painting skills.

Luke & Yoda - Great overall job on these figures.  Yoda tunic actually looks like it was made from fabric instead of plastic.

Imperial Field Officer - Nice take on this figure. Although we have seen similar customs using clone trooper armor, the use of stormtrooper armor on this one makes it stand out   The added pouches on the ST belt is a great touch.

I really like the Imperial Field Officer. The armor and helemt is awesome, I just think that the Stormie belt looks too bulky. Maybe Dremel down the inside of the belt to make it less thick. It's just a suggestion, but still, your painting skills is untouchable.

I love that Imperial Field Officer.  Ever since I saw CHEWIE's Rykrof in that type of uniform, I always wanted to make one.  The paint job looks sharp too, the head doesn't even look like Veers anymore!
Great update hemble, I think I'll have to follow your and CHEWIE's lead and make one of those Field Officers!

Hi Guys sorry I didn't respond earlier

Darth Nirvana - Hi Mate glad you like em, with the belt I have taken it down to about 3mm from the front I think the reason it looks so bulky is that I kept the imps officers original belt underneath.

Gregorbian - Cheers mate thanks for the reply, I have to agree if I didn't see Chewie's Rykrof figure I would'nt have even tried it.

Hi All
I thought I would do a simple dio called FETTS BOUNTY. I used the SW visual dictionary as a guide when I painted FETT . LMK what you think

Bobba Fett is from the New vintage style figures he has been repainted using Vallejo and GW paints the only adjustments I did was to the targeting system on his helmet I made the aerial section thinner using a piece of plasti-card.

Solo in Carbonite is from Wave 1 - Battle of Carkoon set I just filled in the gaps using grennstuff and put a plasti-card back on it and painted it using GW paints the printed base I got from this site  http://www.niubniubsuniverse.com/  and the lower section of the base is an old DVD container bottom I had lying around.

Your Imperial field officer is a very smart original concept. I like it most because it's an original idea that looks like it could fit right into the SW universe without missing a step. Have you ever done a tutorial on painting? I'd really like to see what your process is.

Boba Fett is simply stunning.  Its hard to imagine that these are 3-3/4 inch figures.  Your detailing is just great.  On the Carbonite - I want to go back and look at mine to see what you added to it to bring it to life.  My only minor criticism is in the edges of the lights on the floor.  Maybe you can use a colored marker or paint around the white rim that still can be seen on the printed paper.  Like I said this is very very very minor.

I would echo Lestats request for a painting tutorial.  Your wash techniques always come out so well.

Hi Guys

Well this isn't a SW custom but you all know me I like to show you all some of my other works every now and then so here is Tarzan desrciption below.

I've always wanted to make a Tarzan figure but never could find the right body until I found Weapon X Wolverine it was the right size for what I wanted.
I have a King Kong figure that I was going to use with Tarzan and it towered over him the way I wanted it to but I could'nt get the fur to look the way I wanted so I'll post pics of the ape when I've done. And I always wanted Tarzan to have a Bow and Arrow so I made him some.
Tarzan is painted using Reaper miniature, Vallejo and GW paints the knife sheath, arrow case and loin cloth made from some old pieces of pleather painted and weathered the recipe for Tarzan is below.

Head - ML professor X
Body - ML weapon X Wolverine
Hair - LOTR Boromir
Knife, Bow and arrows LOTR Egolas

Hi Guys

Well here are those two dio's I mentioned I'm really enjoying doing these and I'm looking into doing some bigger projects as well, Well here they are LMK what you think.

Jawa and Gonk droid

The Jawa and Gonk Droid are both from Hasbro they have been repainted using Vallejo and Reaper Miniature paints the antenna is from the Bespin Luke figure and the base is from ML The Punisher Movie figure it has had a two part of wood glue and plaster of paris added to the base.
While still wet sand was added and left to dry, once dry it was painted using Vallejo paints.

Clone Wars  Battle of Kelmar  the 168th Legion
This is of no particular Legion it was something I just made up

This Diorama is just something I wanted to do as I had a few Troopers lying around the are from the Trooper evolution serious.
I have repainted them again using Vallejo and Reaper Miniature paints, The base is from an old DVD container and has plaster of paris and wood glue added to it.
Once dry I glued model railway sand and static grass to the base and once dry painted the whole base using the above paints.
The bush's are plastic fish tank plants cut to size and the shrubs are from woodland scenics both were glued to the base and then painted again using the above mentioned paints.

They have movement to them, I think in art they call that realism or realistic impression. What a fantastic way to display loose figures instead of boring row after row of the same figure in a bookcase ::)

Ron,  I don't even know what to say about this they are so good.   :o

The robes on the jawa look soooo realistic.  How did you get the frayed looking effects on the bottom??  Also, is that hostler part of that Jawa mold?  I'll have to go back and look at mine but I don't remember that being part of it.  The only thing you do to make this better is break inside the head and add two little LED lights to make the eyes glow  ;)  The GONK is a very effective subtle paint.  The antenna top looks like a great addition.

One the clones, I had to keep telling myself that those were only 3.75" scale figures.  Amazing detailing and the terrain platform is awesome.

Keep up the great work!!

Hey hemble,

I love these!!! I love these!!! I LOVE THESE!!!

Your attention to detail is astounding. I love the mud detail on the jawa's cloak. I had to go and get the figure off the shelf and compare. You managed to bring out details that I did not know or took for granted. Amazing! It is always the subtle changes that really bring out the design. The Gonk really feels worn out and weathered down and extremely aged. And that antenna accessory from OOM-9 looks like it has always been there or at least should be. Awesome job.

Hey look, its Clone Commander Custer's last stand ;D.  (A bit of American History Humor, I could not help myself ;D) Another fine example of what you could accomplish with basic weathering and foliage strategically placed. Very well done.

Hi Guys

stormtripper - Really appreciate the great feedabck and I know what you mean about just having the figures in a row (Boring) that's why I started doing the dio's.

Clone Hunter - Thanks for the kind words.

BrentS - Mate thanks for the feedback means alot.
As for the frayed look it was already on there same as the holster I just brought the detail out with the painting. I was thinking of the leds but decided not to for such a small dio.

Smartypants1635 - Thanks for the reply buddy I'm really glad you enjoyed them.

Darth Nirvana - Cheers mate your comments are always appreciated.

Jedi_Master_Ben - Appreciate the great feedback mate, I must be honest I did'nt think the Gonk droid was going to turn out this well I even amazed myself hehe.

Clone Commander - Thanks mate, Kalmer sounded like I good planet name so hay I went with it, I reallylike the DVD bases there a good size and I have about 6 left so mor dio's on the way.
And the helmets are glued down I used older heads from figures I had lying in the parts draw so I was able to keep the clone heads.

In Rem - Man really really appreciate the comments thanks heaps.

Hi All

Quilan Vos is a commission piece for a member on one of the Aussie figure forums I go to it took me around 1-1/2 weeks to complete him, He has been painted using Reaper miniatures and Vallejo paints. The only reference that can be found of him besides in the comic books is a small part in Star Wars EP1 when you see him sitting down at the food shanti where Jar Jar tries to steal the dead animal. The recipe is below on parts I used.

1: Head and body from Dragon.
2: Hair is 50% sculpted using green stuff and 50% molded hair from a Andromeda figure.
3: Leather pants from Andromeda figure.
4: Boots from WW2 German figure.

I think I'm one of the few people into Star Wars these days that doesn't like Quinlan Vos. DESPITE, however, my bias, as always, you nailed this custom perfectly Ron. I think by now, everyone on the board has told you how uncanny the likenesses of your figures are. Not unlike your other pieces, your paint apps on this are superb, and the accessories/tailoring are excellent. It's hard for me to tell whether the hair is sculpted or softgoods -- either way, it looks very convincing! Thanks for sharing.

That is a beautiful piece. The outfit is well crafted but nothing less than I would expect from you. He is pretty clean shaven though. The tatoos on the face look great. Some more detail to the rest of the face would make him look a lot tougher. He's too pretty right now.

I thin the Spirit Iron Knife jaw might be a little strong for Quinlan Vos, but maybe that's just me (cos I'm not that familiar with the character.) Other than that, a little addition to his hairsculpt and a repaint would probably work out well!

I'm getting the comic three pack with that Spirit fig, Hannibal: Reborn and Agent Courtney Krieger (Covergirl). I already know what I'm gonna use Courtney and Hannibal for, but I can't think of a dang thing to do with Spirit Iron Knife, lol.

hemble, this is really a masterpiece. knowing all too well myself how much time and effort goes into 1/6th scale (crafting clothes & sculpting/modifying) i can really see your high quality of craftsmanship and i love the sculpted hair. i am not really familiar with the character other than the customs others have done that i have seen, but i find yours to be far superior. i'm sure the person getting this will be thrilled!  :)

Master_Phruby- Always good to hear your opions M_P and with the face what ref's I could find he was always had a 5 o'clock shadow but the guy I made him for wanted him this and you know what they say the client is always right ;D.

that is a good question, To be totally honest and this might sound wierd I think I owe it to doing military models as you have to be precise as they are historically accurate so I think doing the models helped in a big way when I started doing custom figures.

darth_ripley- Mate thanks for the great feedback I thought seeing that you do 1/6 figures as well you would be happy to this this figure and as you also know when you do a 1/6 compared to 3-3/4" you have to make sure that you get as much detail in as you can because it's alot easier to notice things in this scale which you might not in the smaller scale figures.

I was kind of wondering the same thing Phruby.  I bought that 3-pk the other day for that female character head for a custom someday, maybe with some work that could be used for a Vos.  The hard thing though I think is the hair.

Also you know what I'm like I love helping people out with their projects If I can help them out and they archived what they wanted that's a great feeling.

Ok Guys here he is.

I wanted to make a Tie Fighter pilot but wanted to do something different instead of the black suited Pilot so when I saw a comic called Star Wars Rogue Squadron with Baron Fel on the front cover I knew that this would be a great figure to make.

Once the figure was made I painted him using Vallejo and Reaper Miniature paints the base is and take-away lid re-inforced around the inside edges using putty and the Imperial Emblem was downloaded of the net and then resized and printed of and glued in place.

RECIPE

Body- Star Wars Saga ATAT Driver.

Imperial Arm emblems- Are from the net I just down sized them then cut them out and glued them on.

Gloves and feet- Star Wars OTC Tie Fighter Pilot.

Helmet and control Unit- Star Wars OTC Tie Fighter Pilot.

Head and holster- Are from an old Elite Force S.W.A.T figure.

Leg Harness- Star Wars OTC X-Wing Pilot Wedge Figure.

Straps and belt- The straps and belt are some left over pleather cut to size and glued in place.

Flight Vest- Is and old 12" figure T-shirt I had lying around I just cut it out to shape and glued it in place.

Ron, the colorized version looks awesome!  As always your paint detailing is amazing.  I'm not sure I like the t-shirt flight vest but I suppose it does match the references.

This one turned out phenomenally Ron. It took me a little while to realize that really was an AT-AT driver body, you did a wonderful job disguising it. I for one really like the soft goos vest and straps I think they look great. As usual I have no idea where to begin when it comes to the paint, I think you could paint up a POTF2 R5-D4 or any other POS figure and make it look 100x better, your painting ability is that good.

How'd you do the imperial logos? I've tried using decals that i printed out on clear mailing labels cut it oit and stuck it to the figure, but they tend to smudge and they don't stick very well and lift up at the corners. Is there any kind of special paper or glue you use?

Hi guys

Smartypants1635- I'm really glad you like him mate and thanks for the feedback the head was the only thing that was worrying me.

BrentS- Cheers mate really appreciate the honest reply, I was going to do the vest using an old hanky but decided with the t-shirt as it still gives that ripple affect you see on the Rebel pilots.
I'm in the same boat as you regarding this comic series but I think this is his Imperial outfit while he was with the Empire but I could be wrong.

MetalJedi- Thanks for the feedback mate and damn I wish there was a tie fighter for him.

Gregorbian- Mate much appreciated the feedback means alot.

Ryan- Mate I'm really glad you like him that much and thanks heaps for the kind words.
For the Imp logo's I've added a pic for you below I had to resize down to scale #12 using PSP6 and just printed it out on plain white paper and attached it using PVA glue.

Baron Fel> You've done a great Justice to  my All Time Favorite EU Character. Your Paint Aps. Are Very Realistic as Usuall.  Great Job on the Soft Goods. The Webbing and Holster look very Good. Are The Hoses Maliable enough to Reattach to the Helmet, when he is Wearing It? If So What did you Use for them?

Luke from Splinter of the minds eye> Comming Along Great! What do you have left to do to it? It looks Perfect Already.

Hemble... that Luke is turning out already to be one of the best customs I've seen anyone do.  How in the world did you make the folded down uniform?  It has to be sculpted, right?  Yet it looks so real, like you could see him pull the top back up and get back in his X-Wing!  As much as I an in awe of your Baron Fel, the Luke just blows me away... you are truly an artist and inspiration.

The holster and webbing on Luke has been totally done from scratch using pleather and the hoses and helmet on Fel have been glued in place .  All the figures I do which I put on bases have little to no articulation on them at all.

Sometimes I think a lack of articulation is fine, when you're using them for dioramas sometimes I don't need articulation on my customs either.  Not that I get to this kind of detailed quality either though of course.   ;)

Thanks Chewie your to kind.

Well here he is finally done

LUKE SKYWALKER  SPLINTER OF THE MIND'S EYE

When I saw the front cover of Luke from the Star Wars comic series The Splinter of the Mind's eye I knew I had to make a figure of him with is X-wing suit wrapped around him and thought it would be a good challenge. Once the figure was completed I used Vallejo, Reaper miniature and Games Workshop paints on him.

The base is from the new Star Wars Saga line which comes with the figures I added marine Styrofoam to it and carved out a small incline I then added plaster of paris and woodglue to the base. Once dry I coated the base with woodglue and added sand and static grass to it.

Once the sand and static grass dried I gave it a wash using Vallejo paints and let dry and then drybrushed it using Vallejo paints again, the small shrubs are from woodland scenics and the palm plants are plastic fish tank plants painted in the same method as mentioned above.

RECIPE

Head, Body, boots and Arms- OTC Dagobah Luke with added hair at the back for more length using GW greenstuff. The body was covered in greenstuff and sleeves were added to the arms and the arms reqiured a little greenstuff as I had to alter them slightly.

Legs- OTC X-Wing Pilot Wedge Figure with putty used on the knee and crotch area.

The Wrap around X-wing sleeves- they are made from greenstuff and once secured to the body I used a toothpick to add creases.

Holster and belt- This was made using left over pleatherwhich was glued together using superglue.

Blaster and Saber- These were pulled out of the bits box from another Luke figure.

sorry pics lost

Ron

Splinter of the Mind's Eye, and other such EU sources that seem to have lost "canonicity" with newer additions (new EU, prequels, etc.) have seemed to been forgotten by customizers. This is a great revival, and your paint apps, and not to mention sculpting, have really breathed life into this piece.

Hi All

O'Neill is an older figure I did a while back I stored him away until I had room on my shelves to show him I did a little reworking on his vest and belt. I repainted his equipment and also repainted his face using Reaper miniature paints. The Vest was sprayed with dark yellow as I couldn't find a desert coloured vest.

RECIPE
1: Every thing on O'Neill is from the modern day Dragon figures which I got from here www.wartoys.com

2: The head I got from here The frontline custom heads he also has a great range of other 12" heads as well.

Hey Ron,

Sorry i missed this update. O'Neill is fantastic, as all your O'Neills have been so far. The face is dead on, not just the sculpt but the paint app as well. The only thing I might suggest is to paint up the arms the way you did the face. It is a little strange to see such detail on the face and then just a plain plastic looking tone on the arms. As always I'm looking forward to your next update!

Hi All

Again something different

When I started making Batman I wanted a real gritty and menacing feel to him, I even wanted his costume to look gritty. So after about 4 weeks looking thru comics and the internet and also doing some simple drawings I got the look I wanted. I also wanted to give him some kind of armour but didn't want to go with the conventional style - (ie armour built into the costume) so  I decided to go with armour that could be seen and which would also look the part for a gritty Batman.

After he was completed I used Reaper and Vallejo paints as they have a greater range of colours then most other companies once he was painted and drybrushed I gave him a coat of sealant(Testor's Dullcoate) to stop any scratchs.

RECIPE

Body - Marvel's Legends Black Panther
Head and Belt- Marvel's Legends Bullseye heavly modified and green stuff added for the cowl.
Boots and Glove - Marvel's Fantastic 4 Mr Fantastic with the armour and bindings added using leather strips
Batman Chest Emblem and lower neck cowl - Are pieces of leather cutout and glued in place
Cape - Is just some old fabric I had lying around I just cut out the desired design and glued it underneath the lower neck cowl.

Wow, Ron.  There are so many great things to say about Batman.  You did a great job building him, especially since it doesn't appear you used any Batman parts at all :)  One of the little things that you did that really looks great is how you were able get the proper folds into the shoulder parts of the cape that makes it flow so naturally.  For some reason, that really stood out to me.

Nice job Ron, It looks real good, almost like it was out of the batman movie, the gauntlets remind me of that because he used those at that ninja school or whatever it was.

hey hemble, I am geeked at that batman, nice work indeed. I have sorta been on a batman rebirth since I picked up my son one of the lego sets, they did a really good job on the dark knight. I saw your Star Gate custom as well, nice work. They were filming star gate beside my work on Fri, I live in North Vancouver and see many production crews and occasionally an actor or a scene being filmed. Its funny when you see them on the big screen and how they are always trying to make Vancouver appear to be New York or L.A. Priceless.

I don't like the costume you made for your Batman, but if it was a stand alone random figure, it's neat for what it is. :)

Sweet crackers! That is one MEAN looking Dark Knight!

I can easily see this design being in an Elseworlds book. Very cool and very creative, and the painting as always is top notch.

Now you need a cool new Joker design to go with him.  ;)

Hi Guys

Well here are the last 2 figures that I'll have up until I come back from basic I go in on Tuesday so I'll apologize now if I don't come back and reply to your feedbacks.
And I just want to say that it's been fun and you have all been great friends and you are all going to sorely missed and I will leave a post in my section to let you all knwo how I'm going :'( so here they are and enjoy and as always comments welcome.

THOR  THE THUNDER GOD

Thor was one of the hardest figures that I've had to do as I wanted him to look like the comic character but also look have a look of a Viking warrior so again after a day or two of searching the Internet and a little inspiration from a fellow customizer (glorbes) over on this custom figure site  http://www.fwooshnet.com/forum/ I came up with this version of the God Of Thunder. I also wanted his helmet  to have a little twist and instead of the wings I gave the helmet a lighting bolt design and kept the flowing fur at the back.

After the figure was put together I painted him using Games Workshop paints, Vallejo miniature paints and Reaper miniature paints, there was some major dry brushing to get the desired colours in the Armour and also in the clothing but I was pleased with the overall look and feel of him. And as always he was given 2 coates of Testors dull coate to seal in the paint and stop any scratch's.

RECIPE

Body - Marvel Legends Wonderman.
Head, Hands- Eomer LOTR The Two Towers.
Forearms and Leg Armour - Eomer LOTR The Two Towers.
Helmet - Eomer  LOTR The Two Tower with lighting bolts added which are made from cardboard and brushed over with superglue.
Belt - Marvel Legends Namor with a shoulder pad added to the front from an old LOTR figure.
Tunic and Vest - Cut from leather and glued in place using superglue.
Round metal discs and chain - The discs I got from some old 1/35th scale model parts from the bits box and the chain I picked up from a $2 dollar store.
Hammer - The main part of the hammer was made from balsa wood glued together and sanded to shape the handle is some plasti-card rod cut to size and then wrapped using some old pleather as is the lower handle grip.
Cape - The cape was some left over material which was given a wash and then drybrushed.

CAPTAIN AMERICA  VERSION 2.0

When I started making Captain America version 2 I didn't want to go the usual way as in the stripes on the waist and wings on the head but still be able to recognize good Ole Capt.

So I decide to go for a all in blue costume except for the boots and gloves and instead of the blue crotch area I went with a red look in that area. The cowl I decided to change as well I didn't want to have the tiny wings on the cowl or the ears showing so I discarded both of them and decided to have the ears covered and also have the hair sticking out.

Once I got the look I wanted I painted him using Reaper Miniature and Vallejo paints and sealed it all in using Testors Dull coate.

RECIPE

Body - Marvel Legends Wonderman.
Boots - Marvel Legends Cyclops.
Gloves - Marvel's Fantastic 4's Mr Fantastic.
Head - Marvel Legends Angel with sculpted cowl and 1/72 scale King Tiger Front machine gun cover for the ears.
Belt - Marvel Legends Bullseye belt with extras added from the bits box.
Shield - Marvel Legends Captain America I had lying around.
Stars(chest and back) - Some old pieces of leather cut out and glued in place.

This is a nice batch of customs Ron.
The thor looks really cool, the addition of the chains is excellant, but I'm not really a fan of the screaming head :-\.

Cap. America
Your take on him is really cool, I like how we can still tell its him, the star and shield and colors but yet it looks like a totally new person, very neat.

Take care dude, Hope to talk to you again soon, and be careful.

Hi guys

SKY CAPTAIN
just wanted to pop on and say hi I've been browsing the site when I've had a chance and the customs are all looking great I only have 3 weeks to go till I finish up here in advance training and once I get to my IET training I'll be able to start and do my customs again and I'll tell you what I can't wait.

Till then here is a custom figure of I did just before I left so hope you all in enjoy and I'll have some SW customs in the coming weeks take care and stay safe.

Ron

When I started making Sky Captain I wanted the figure to have that herioc feel of the movie yet still add my own style to him so I decided to give him a little ruggerness by giving the uniform a dirtier look and given the face an unshaven look. The uniform was the hardest thing to make as it is actual cloth and also I wanted again the feel of the movie in it but also wanted that WW2 feel to it as well.

Once all the parts were made or taken from the bits box the figure, clothing and equipment were painted with Reaper Miniatures and Vallejo paints, There was a lot of dry brushing and wash's to get the desired look and feel to this character and I'm really pleased with the way he turned out.

RECIPE

Body - Fantastic 4's Mr Fantastic from the movie.

Legs - The Punisher from the movie.

Head and gloves - Fantastic 4's Mr Fantastic from the movie.

Boots - Marvel legends The Punisher.

Belt, holster and pouches - The holster and pouches are from Plan B Toys and the belt is left over leather.

Flight Jacket - Is from the movie Punisher I cut it at the waist and glued it in certain places to still have movebilitly and the wool area's are static grass(modellers grass) glued in place and painted.

Flight Pants - The pants have been sewn to give the baggy appearance and the zippers are left over leather cut to size and glued in place and painted to simulate zippers

Flight Head Gear - The head gear is made completely from leather I cut it to shape and glued in place over the Mr Fantastic head which was cut and sanded down to get a natuaral fit.

Flight Goggles - Was cut from an old DVD container cover it was cut to size and then cut to the desired shape and the strap is again some left over leather.

Hi Guys

Well I'm finally back and it's so good while I was in my unit the wife came down and saw me a few weeks ago and bought all my building materials down with her(damn she's a good girl) but don't tell her I said that.

But I have to wait till I come home so I can add my pics to my site as we don't have computers on base which is a shame as I would've have had pics up weeks ago. I've also done 3 SW figures and will hopefully post them either this afternoon or tomorrow.

When I started making Superman I wanted to give him a gritty looking costume like I did with my Batman figure but also keeping with the original colours and style of the character we all know. For that reason I went for the body I used for my Batman as the it looks like real material and also the main body gives you all the muscle defintion that I belive Superman should have. When he was complete I used Vallejo and Reaper miniature paints.

RECIPE

Body -Marvel's Lengends Black Panther.
Boots - Marvel's Fantastic 4 Mr Fantastic, leather was added to the boots to give it the height
Head - X-men Magneto, I sanded down the hair and added new hair using GamesWork Shop 2 part putty greenstuff.
Chest Emblem - With the emblem I cut out the desired shape from left over leather and hand painted the S onto that.
Belt - The belt is again some left over leather cut to shape and glued in place using super glue
Cape - The cape ia an ols T-shirt I had lying around I dyed it and cut the shape out and superglued that into place.

Title: Re: Hemble's Customs- Updated 01/10/06 Superman & SW Figs
Post by: hemble on October 1, 2006, 05:29 AM
Well guys guys here is 2 of the SW figs I did while I was away enjoy.

TELIS MEX (Bounty Hunter) & TAD-3 (Tactical Assualt Droid MK-3)

While making Telis I thouht it would be cool to give him some sought of partner I was going to do another human/alien then decided to go with a droid instead as I thought it would look great and I was very happy with the end result especially the combat style of him which took me 2 weeks to get the desired look. As always the figures were painted using Vallejo and Reaper miniature paints.

Telis was part of the Clone Army until the Emporor decided to get other Human volunteers and after about another 2 years in the service he decided to go his own way and become a Bounty Hunter and on his second bounty his when he ran into TAD-3 who was also on the same bounty. So after some deliberation who's bounty it was they decided to take 50% each and after that they become partners.

TAD-3 was originally a Tactical Assualt Droid for the Kaltrimma Empire but when Imperial troopers took over the planet there was no use for him anymore so imperial technians were going to shut him down and 1000's like him. But for some strange reason TAD was aware what was going on and killed the techs and fled the planet and from there he hired himself out as a Bounty Hunter and some years later he and Telis become partners.

RECIPE

Telis

Head- The helmet is from the clone trooper evolution set I added a scope to the right side from the bits ox and also some tubes.

Body- The body is from the AT-AT driver and the legs are from Dannik Jerriko

Equipment-The back pack is from the VOTC Stormtrooper, the blaster is from the Clone trooper evolution sets which was cut down and reglued back together.

TAD-3

Head- The head is from the Evil dead 3-3/4 figure sets I added some tubes and a contol panel which were in my bits box.

Body- The body is from the EP-1 Trade Federation driods.

Arms- The upper part of the arms are from the plastic miniature APE(maruader) figure from Starship Troopers and the right lower arm is from the Trade Federation droid and the left lower arm is parts of rifles I had in the bits box.

Legs- The legs are from the plastic miniature APE(maruader) figure from Starship Troopers.

Ron, so great to see you post new things around here again!  Welcome back, hopefully you are back to stay for a while.

The bounty hunter and Droid are just amazing.  My favorite part is the kama that you've put together on him.  It looks like the material has been stiffened?  or is it plastic so incredible well painted that I thought it was just cloth?

Welcome back!

I don't know how I missed this. These two new ones look fantastic Ron! I'm really glad to see you back around. As usual the paint app leaves absolutely nothing to be desired, both of them are flawless. I'm really liking the part selection on both of these. The battle droid torso works perfectly in the droid, it is familiar but not instantly recogniziable so it really helps it fit in the SW universe. That kama/cloak is wonderful, it is perfectly weathered and it flows very nicely.

Again, it is great to see you back Ron!

Just been paging through some of your fabulous recent creations.  They're all so high quality, it's hard to know where to start!  Sky Captain is one of the ones that really jumps out at me -- you gave him a really good retro look, and I like what you did with his outfit.

Thanks, as always, for sharing your work with us.  It's always gratifying to see good 12" work, since there isn't much of it on these forums.  I'll be watching this space! :)

IMPERIAL SCOUT TROOPER  ENDOR MOON

HI GUYS
This will be my last post for about 8 weeks I have to go interstate with the Army for more training but the good news is that I'll be making figures while I'm away so I'll have plenty to post when I get back which should be around teh 11/12 december so see you alll then.

Ron

While out shopping the other day I picked up a couple of the new SW Scout Troopers for some customizing and decided to keep one to put on a small viginette. The has been superglued at the joints and then the joints have been filled in using Games Workshop greenstuff, the base is from a 2 dollar shop and the plants are plastic fish tank plants and model railway shrubs and sand are from woodland scenics. Once everything dried the figure and base were painted using Vallejo and GW paints.

And here I thought your first Obi-Wan in Clone Armor was cool! ;D

I've noticed these bases that you've used over an over with your figures. I saw a post where you said they're from "a 2 dollar store."

Are these plates/dishes of some sort?

What store do you mean?

I started seeing your work over at the Custom Alliance but it's just wonderful to see it here too.

This stuff is just amazing.  8)

Hi Guys

Thanks for the kind words I really appreciate them and another 6-7 weeks I'll have the internet up and running so I'll more regular postings.

Happy Noodle Boy - I buy the bases at a shop called Crazy Clints it's a shop where you can get things really cheap or a shop called Lincraft it's a craft and material shop and the bases are actually chip wood.

Cheers
Ron

Hi All

Here is another trooper I finished around the same time as Obi in clone armour enjoy

RECON TROOPER
Head - Stormtrooper helmet cut and modified and the head underneath is a seals head.
Legs and Arms - Stormtrooper's
Body - Biker Scout
Shoulder Pad - SandTrooper
Cloak - CloneTrooper

He was given a wash of Matt black and then wiped cleaned and once dried he was painted using Vallejo and Reaper miniature paints. The base is from a 2 dollar store and a mixer of static grass and kitty litter was mixed together and then glued over the top of plaster of Paris which was painted dark brown.

Very cool re-con trooper. I wonder though if a re-con trooper would wear a color less conspicuous than sky blue. ;)

Cheers.

Amazing work.

Love how you modified the stormie helmet.

Excellent idea on the different weapons in his gear. Rifle for probing missions and the mid-sized blaster for close quarter and finally the pistol for the "Oh my god all my other weapons are empty and now I have this little pea shooter"!

Great weathering. These washes really do the job.

I'd like to see more of these modified ideas (i.e. helmet, hoses, etc).  ;D

My goodness, Ron.

You really do work miracles at this scale.  The paint work is worthy of a 1/6 scale statue, and the modifications you make are always so realistic and sensible.  That Recon stormtrooper is a thing of beauty...seriously, the whole concept and the look of the cutaway helmet is simply phenomenal.  On the rebel trooper, again you prove how effective a preposed "vignette" can be...the soldier contemplating the helmet is just such a great scene that raises all kinds of questions...you manage to tell a story and infuse the figures with such life and realism.

Fantastic.
