Updating live from Hasbro's collecting panel right now at the convention, keep checking back as more info is added every few minutes.

These will be on-the-fly notes as it happens, so pardon the crude nature of some of these entries....

- The panel has 5 minutes to start, and the room is bursting. The line started queuing up an hour in advance.

- This is the Fall '07 Preview, some surprises in store.

- Thanks to the fans, SW is having another fantastic year, both due to collectors and kids.

- Still have to difficultly balance kid interest and collectors.

- When they saw Force Unleashed vdieogame, they knew they had to stay with it as it grew, should be the big Spring '08 thing.

- The Clone Wars TV show line is due '08, but Lucasfilm won't say any more.

- Galactic Heroes keeps going, wave 4 due around July 15th.

- Each Vader in G.Heroes Battle Packs line has different decos to reflect different movies.

- First wave of '08, 2 Skiff Guards, Tarkin & Imp Officer (black), Endor Leia w trooper, Luke w/ Yoda on back & Obi-Wan.

- 6 new Cinema Scenes, some with vehicles, 2 each exclusive to the big 3 retailers.

- G.Heroes Cinema Scenes have plenty of new.

- G. Heroes Cantina sets will be WM exclusives.

- G. H Ep 1 & Hoth ESB w/new Leia, TRU in Aug.

- G. Heroes Target exclusives X-wing original, and Jabba's Palace set, November. New Biggs, removable helmet Luke in X-wing set.

- SW Transformers, been one of their biggest intros, now adding new ship decos. AT-AT/Driver stunned audience, spring gun in jaw. Turbo Tank/Cody has wheels open to reveal guns. Luke/Snowspeeder, rear cannon hinges, saber clips under.

- SW TF Vader in October, lights up, fought for soft goods cape, first time on any TF.

- 3.75" line: intent is to get all 60 basics out by Dec/Jan. They're working on scratched coins, severly messed up can be sent in and replaced. Coins were really tricky, sculpted 1-to-1, hand sculpted.

- Wave 4 on shelf Aug 1. Umpass Stay designed to barely fit on card, 2 sets will make 1 drum. 2 Concept Vader helmets because they couldn't decide.

- Wave 5, mid aug, new C-3PO w/ removable eye. Darth Malak's collar, jaw removable. Pre-cyborg Grievous had leeway into design because style was open to interpretation in comics, removable helmet. McQuarrie lady-luke is "Starkiller Hero" because of odd situation.

- Wave 6, Oct 1, Han Torture Rack has no electronics, no second torso.

- Wave 7, Nov 1, Romba & Garak. New A-wing Pilot Tycho. R2 Ewok net is soft plastic to put all figs in.

- Unleashed 7" not dead, looking for future opportunities.

- "Show us Your Lightsaber" contest, they're gonna run videos in the booth. Winner is Lee Vehe, congrats! Chrome Silver Spring Activated Vader saber, 1-of-a-kind. Winner also has another movie in SW Atom Films Film Festival.

- A very important project for Hasbro, inspired by Katie Johnson, Katie wanted droid to watch over her like Padme was watched by R2 in AOTC. Droid Builders Club built droid for Katie's room w/ 501st Legion. Katie's sister suggested named after Katie, R2-KT, in pink. Hasbro & LFL supporting Make a Wish of San Diego donating $100k in Katie's memory - Darryl is choked up, Hasbro is very proud. Fans can contribute as well by buying 3.75" R2-KT to inspire similar goodwill to the cause, SDCC and Online in Late July in 501st Package Style.

- Presentation with real R2-KT and 501st procession right now. Big applause, well deserved, ending presentation on a high note.

- Q&A about to start...

Awesome looking ship Big H!

from Yak today:

Q3: General Greivous Starfighter...will it happen? If so, when do you think?

A3: If General Grievious is in the new Clone Ware animation, that will be one of the first vehicles we'll do, but we have to find out more before we commit.

Is it true??  Can we not trust everything that spills from Hasbro's mouth??    :-X

The 3 "biggie" pictures are below...  Here's the link to JD's coverage of Hasbro's Presentation At Celebration IV (http://www.jedidefender.com/newspro/fullnews.cgi?newsid1180132649,25982,)!

Other than the comic packs and the vehicles, it actually wasn't  the hugest of news but it was still good.  It's good if you dig 7" unleashed though to hear that they're not completely dead.

No offense Rune but I'm gonna edit your title and thread here a bit because it's all over the place...  There, I edited the title of the thread to reflect the thread better.

Nothing really too exciting from the presentation pictures. I like the colors on Boba Fett, but yesterdays pics and announcements were more exciting. I hope someone asks a Yarna question.

New EU Boba Fett? New Tarkin? Kir Kanos? 2 waves in August? (Is this right?)

Guessing that the Endor Leia is the Ewok Village dress, not the combat poncho...

AWESOME X2

Was there a Q&A?

Evenflow,  No on the Q&A, they ran out of time, however our guys (and everyone's guys) have been hitting Hasbro left and right at the show.  We did the same thing at C3, they're pretty talkative when you get ahold of them...  Share some stuff you can't share, and a lot that you can share. :)

About new Tarkin, I didn't see that mentioned Reid...  And Kir Kanos/Carnor Jax are I'm assuming just the CE comic pack re-released in the comic pack line to the general public rather than as an exclusive, or that's how things were explained to me and I translated them anyway.

There is a Tarkin in the first 2008 wave, and I'm assuming it's a new ANH one. Could be just another repaint of the ROTS one though.

Some really cool news coming out of the Presentation, again kudos to JD for getting everyone the news as fast as humanly possible.

* AT-PT - that just came right out of nowhere. Big shock, though I'm surprised that it seemed Hasbro downplayed it.

* Grievous Starfighter - a bit surprised this came out in the 30AC line as it's one of the last few movie vehicles that can fit their $20 scale for ships. Still cool nonetheless to get, though now they have a reason to sell more Grievous repaintss, d'oh!

* Marvel comic pack - OH MY GAWD, this set is from my favorite issue of the Marvel and I'm stoked to get a Boba Fett painted in the Marvel style. Just for ***** and giggles and for those not familiar with it, here's a shot of the cover of issue #81, can't wait to see this on shelves (oh wait it's a Walmart exclusive, I'll never see it)....

So much more to sink in from the presentation and C4 in general. Hasbro's gone balls to the wall this year, no doubt their best year in terms of quality and variety. Our wallets may not be pleased, but we sure will be.

More thoughts on the C4 presentation...

The two new vehicles are great news. Cool to finally see a Clone ground transport, and a fairly obscure one at that.

Would've rather seen two new OT vehicles instead of PT, maybe a new Cloud Car, a random Mos Eisley speeder, Imperial Landing Craft, new T-16, etc. Hopefully we'll see some new OT vehicles in '08.

Malak's removable collar is awesome, would've preffered a more "different" KOTOR figure (As in not another Sith Lord), like a Sith Trooper, Bastila, HK-47, Carth, Atton, Bao-Dur, etc.

This seriously is probably Hasbro's best year ever, nice mix of OT, EU, and PT. Now if my local Target could get rid of all the excess TSC and ship more 30AC, it would be even better.

...And if I ever find the SL EU DarkTrooper, this year will officially be the best ever...

That's a Galactic Heroes Tarkin.

Reid, I think you're confused on the way Sir Steves worded/wrote their story.  It was done from the floor I heard and so it blends stuff together in a confusing fashion at times.  The Tarkin is definitely a Galactic Heroes figure...  It's paired with the black tunic Imp. Officer GH figure.

Our rundown of the Q&A is linked above and we have it listed a little more clearer as part of the GH news Reid, hope that helped.

Oh man! I come home from Pirates of the Caribbean to this? That's no AT-PT at all! And here I was, hoping to finally get vehicles from the Thrawn Trilogy...  :'( Woe is me.

It's an AT-AP actually, but Hasbro lists it as an AT-TP (All-Terrain-Toilet-Paper?) in their slideshow...  That's been something of a bit of confusion.

Well if you can pass on a favor. If anyone has the time, can they possiby try to get some info on Yarna?

We asked 'em (again), and yes, she's indeed coming, but obviously not this year.  It'll be tight for '08, but if she doesn't squeeze in there, then definitely in '09.  You'll get her eventually, but you'll just have to be patient a little longer...

Even moreso with the Tonnika Sisters, who still aren't quite out of the "issue" that they've been embroiled in for years now, unfortunately, despite what Christine Hewitt said at C3 a couple years ago.

Cantina distillery coming (which we already knew).  Hopefully '08.

ICMG IS coming.  Probably '09.  Serious debate between two of the main Hasbro reps on whether it'll be carded, or kitbashed into a BP (hence our conflicting news with 'Scum's).  Quite entertaining to watch them argue over it in person (after I asked them about the conflicting info).  Nice to see Scott's original idea is finally going to make it to fruition!  We joked that they should include him as the pilot figure in a new Cloud Car...  :P

That AT-PT is surprisingly supposed to be at the mid-sized vehicle price point of only $20, and not more like that AT-ST was a few years ago...  It'll hold 3 figures.

The coins from Waves 1 and 2, many of which were badly scratched up, can be returned to Hasbro for better quality replacements soon.

Grievous actually FITS into his Starfighter (as will Obi-Wan).

Serious discussion on the direction of the vintage line, which could be all over the place at this point.  It might have prequel figures in it (god forbid), which we said should be put into the basic line, but still be highly articulated.  It might be the exact original vintage Kenner run, which would be hard, after putting recent vintage-esque figures into the basic line (like the upcoming 4-LOM).  Might just be popular select key characters not redone yet.  Might include OT figures that should've made it into the original Kenner line, but never did (Tarkin, Slave Leia, RFT, Sandtrooper, etc.)  It might include re-released figures on new cards (ANH/ESB/ROTJ).  Who knows where this line will wind up?  Hasbro certainly isn't sure yet, since they're handing out questionaires at C4 on it's future, and running the polls on RS right now as well.  But they're definitely listening to our thoughts!  Even if they're practically evenly split across the board at this point...

It sounded pretty solid that Hasbro's finally realized that at the very least they need to pump out a POTF carded vintage wave.  Pretty good bet they will.

They weren't sure what the currently MIA 12th (and final) concept figure was, though it's likely to (unfortunately) be the Greivous, which is obviously not a McQuarrie design, though it'll be on the same "Concept artwork" styled cardback.

I know there were several other tidbits of interest from some of our private discussions, but my brain is mush right now and I can't remember any more.  Post any additional (intelligent) questions in here and I'll try to get them asked/answered down at their booth this weekend.

Wow, I'm practically drooling over all the stuff shown and discussed.  For all the **** I have given Hasbro over the last 12 years, this is probably the best stuff they've done.  Quality seems to be high, selection is great, and if distribution is at the same level, these next few years could be a SW collector utopia. :)

Matt, I do have a couple of (probably redundant) questions that I was hoping you could ask:

-Are there plans to repaint the EU Comic Pack ARC Trooper into a red ("Fordo") ARC Trooper at some point?  I would assume this might fall under the upcoming CG CW cartoon, but I'm just continually impressed with the "Alpha" version and would love a red one to go with it.

-Now that we're getting the AOTC JSF with the hyperdrive ring, is there any chance we'll get a ROTS style Hyperdrive ring, possibly with a more accurate Utapau JSF?

-Just a general question that someone could probably answer there:  what kind of articulation does the Han on Torture Rack have?  Is this a vintage-quality Han, or did the articulation get the shaft in favor of the detailed accessory?  Would the head be swappable with the Vintage Hoth Han so we can have a non-stressed Bespin Han?

Questions:

1) Will Hasbro consider going back to non-themed waves next year or the year after?  I've loved the battle or planet themes, but then again I loved back in the late 90's when waves would have a mixture of characters from different movies and scenes in the same wave.

2) Is the new A-Wing pilot based on production photos, making the vintage and POTF2 versions inaccuarte, or did this one have more artistic license?  For example, the yellow band on the boot and the different chest harness.

3) Will there be a switch to a new X-Wing pilot body soon (either a new sculpt or vintage Luke's), or at least resculpted arms to give some variety to the various pilots out there?

Matt, you're doing an excellent job of getting our voices heard by Hasbro at C4, kudos mate! Here's a follow-up thought on the whole "vintage" issue. Has Hasbro considered scrapping the "vintage" line in favor of putting these kind of quality efforts consistently into the "Basic" line as well as the "Comic" line?
