I saw Hulk and enjoyed it very much. But I thought Iron Man was much, much better. For one thing, Liv Tyler's performance was uneven. There were times where she was spot-on perfect, but others when she was so bad it pulled me out of the movie. But what I thought was lacking most was the Jekyl/Hyde aspect of Hulk. The way the movie portrayed it, Hulk was just some involuntary reaction that sends Banner into a blind rage. But in the books Hulk is a sentient alternate personality, always fighting Banner for control. In the movie, Hulk seemed indifferent to Banner... Hulk just happened sometimes. In the comics, Hulk HATES Banner... wants to destroy him and become the dominant personality... and it's only Banner's willpower that keeps him at bay. Whenever Banner loses focus, Hulk escapes. The Hulk is Banner's repressed rage, so repressed it became a unique entity. In the movie it was 100% biological... Banner gets his heart rate up and his blood turns green. That may have been true to the old TV show (which I don't remember well enough to say), but it doesn't hold true to the comics. And I think that's what makes the comics interesting.
But I still enjoyed it very much on a popcorn level. And Ed Norton was fantastic.
