Has anyone seen Sky High yet, seems to be getting some good reviews.

Hah! Portions might be funny, but overall it looks like a ripoff of both Spy Kids and The Incredibles (which, incidentally, was technically a Disney film via Pixar), mixed with your run-of-the-mill high school angst Disney Channel drivel.

But that's my cynical side talking. My optimistic side says it's nice to see Kurt Russell again.

Best movie of the summer - hands down.  And yeah, I'll say it, I thought it was better than ROTS.

Makes you want to burn all of your Batman movies with Kilmer and Clooney, hell even the one with DeVito.

Not me.

I've got too many other movies on my list I still need to see, so that one gets delegated to the "Rent it later" list.

I've been pretty busy and haven't made it to the movies since the first weekend in August when, YES, I did go see the "Dukes of Hazard".

The DoH was pretty lame in place, but it was pretty funny in others.  Well worth the $4.50 I spent to see it on the Ultrascreen (ps - I don't care how dumb she is or how creepy her dad is, seeing Jessica on a 32x75ft screen made her look pretty good to me).

As for this weekend, the goal is to try to catch up a bit and go see one of these movies that we've missed so far this summer:

March of the Penguins - still want to see this one
The Island (kinda got bad reviews and is almost gone now)
Herbie (see comments above)
Four Brothers

I've seen 4 movies in the past 2 days, 2 each day, at the theatre.

"Four Brothers" - Singleton's 3rd best behind "BITH" and "Shaft". Little too heavy on the unnecessary profanity, but a really good Western/Reveneg flick. Not quite up to snuff with "The Devil's Rejects" though.

"March of the Penguins" - Beautifully shot, great narration, and a really sweet film overall.

"Sky High" - Uber family friendly superhero movie with lots of positive reinforcement towards family togtherness. Very fun to watch, probably get the DVD.

"Red Eye" - Wes Craven's best movie since "Scream", hands down. Tight script, good pacing, characters you love to hate, and stays very tense until the action packed, and sadly cliched, last 10 minutes..where Wes Craven really doesn't know where to go with it. Infact, it's basically the original "Scream" ending all over again.

I'm hoping to see "The 40 Year Old Virgin" tomorrow, possibly "Valiant" as well.

Just saw $1,000,000 Baby...it was good...I didn't think it was great though

I really thought the end was a stretch.  There is no way Clint could just walk in like that and do what he did.

I did like the relationships that him and Swank made though.  She was really good in her role as well.  I just thought the ending stunk ass

If I were handing out Oscars I would have given them to Sideways, but thats just me

Oh...

And we went to theater last night since MovieFone refused to work on the way over there.  THe parking lot while usually full was less than 1/3 full.  Hollywood is in some serious trouble.  Outside of a few movies (ROTS and Batman Returns), this year has been terrible, terrible, terrible.

Well it's not like the movies released this year have been worth going to the movie theater for...

I loved the Island too. Scarlett Johansson was soooo hot in that movie. I took my parents to see it and they liked it a lot too.

Anyone seen "The Greatest Raid"? I really like war movies and this looked like a very interesting story, I still want to see "40yo Virgin" and "Batman", too.
