The vintage Tarkin makes the retro line more interesting to me for sure... do we know details on the exclusive and how tough it’ll be to get.
-
Tarkin is just great, really hope we see more of this. It seems like this, and the six regular figures, are Target exclusives? I think that is what Hasbro Twitter said. I think we can all one up with a short list we would like to see to finish out the original vintage line Stormie Han, Sandtrooper, RFT.......
-
Target exclusives?
Yes, exclusive to Target and due to arrive in May.

Never had this game, so getting it and Tarkin is great. Hope it’s not crazy expensive.

STAR WARS ESCAPE FROM DEATH STAR BOARD GAME
(HASBRO/Ages: 8 years & up/Players: 2-4/Approx. Retail Price: $19.99/Available: May 2019)
Available at most major retailers.
-
I will buy this. :)
-
Me too... I’m gonna buy any new gig that expands the originals and replace customs with them. I’m even kinda into playing the game with the kids when they’re home.
-
I loved this game as a kid...I played it before I saw the movie even! This was an easy pick up for me, and I will gladly take the Retro Tarkin. Win-win for me!
-
Out of all the retro stuff, this is the one item I might pick up since it's a character that was never done before in the original Kenner line (and as a kid, I always wondered why).
I loved this game - it made regular appearances during family game night growing up.
-
This is funny because I still have my original Escape from Death Star board game. Like this set.

Me too, and the remade version that came out in the late 90s with a packed in POTF2 Luke Stormtrooper and Vader. I think at the time I bought 15 of those for $5 each on clearance.
-
When I heard the name of the game I thought of the POTF2 version, too!
Having seen this set? And knowing that the Retro Collection will likely be LIMITED to the 6 figures AND exclusive? This line doesn't seem like as much of an inherently bad idea as it did to me yesterday. And the TBS and TVC reveals gave me a glimmer of hope, too.
Making a Kenner style Tarkin is actually a great idea, since he was always a notable absence from the Kenner line.

My son and I still play this game together. It's on the regular rotation during family game night.

Cool. I’ll totally get this then. $20 for a board game and vintage Tarkin is a deal.

So the bulk of the line are the six figures we saw from Toy Fair that will be at Target? That makes it an easier proposition to pick up the set. The board game I would definitely get just for the figure. I think I may still have the POTF2 version of game in a closet somewhere.
For exclusives, I hope they go the route of the board game and make OT characters that never got a vintage sculpt.
-
I love that this is just $20. Well done Hasbro.
-
I found the game on the shelf amongst the other board games at Target this morning. Shelf tag with 6 games lined up just like they were supposed to be there.
Happy to have a Retro Tarkin of course, but also looking forward to teaching the game to my 9 year old, he is in his "board game stage" right now.
-
I went by Target yesterday and no luck. Hopefully, they're just waiting for the street date.
-
Celebrated May the 4th last night by watching "Star Wars" (you know the one) with my boys, and then playing "Escape the Death Star" with my oldest after his brother went to bed.
Big thumbs up on the gameplay from the kid. After my Han/Chewie piece got dragged back to the Trash Compactor (from the space just in front of the Millennium Falcon) he couldn't stop laughing and finally said: "This is the best board game I have ever played!"
-
I don't know whether I should be looking in toys, games, or the men's department, because I have heard of these being put in all 3 places. Not having any luck on this and Target is dead to Brickseek now I guess.
-
I got tired of looking for it and ordered it from Target.com. Free shipping and 5% off with a Red Card. Mine is arriving today.
-
Question: Does the Tarkin come on a retro card with the game or is he also being released in the Retro Vintage collection?
-
He's carded with the game
-
Picked this up today. It was on the bottom shelf in the game area.
-
One of these was floating about today in the board game aisle so I grabbed it and it’s very cool. It’s simply sculpted and fits in perfectly with my original figures. The simplicity of the sculpt is enough to set it off from other imperial figures but to where you get the idea of who it is supposed to be. I’d love more unmade figures to fill out my Vintage figure shelf. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I’d love a Fleet Trooper, a Wedge, Evazan, cantina band guy, Sandtrooper, maybe some others.
Not sure I’d want it to go too far like into PT or ST characters, but more originals I’m all for.
-
None of the Targets I went to yesterday had this, the retro figs or 6" Luke. Crappiest launch ever.
I've said it before and I will say it again, street dates only help scalpers. If they had just put these out as they arrived in stock I would have had one by now.
-
I struck out at two Targets for everything. Kind of figured this would be a debacle like the Gammorean Guard.
-
Apparently the street date had nothing to do with them being put out... now that makes zero sense to me of course, but yeah the street date has 0 to do with them being put out for a fathwr’s Day gift thing in men’s clothing... I’m kind of boggled why they’d set a date and not have that date coincide with the reset but apparently that’s the case.
In my industry that’s never the case and dated materials are dated for the exact day of resets in stores nationwide, but it’s not collectibles haha.
-
A Target set date of 5/12 would typically mean set the week of 5/12. So they have 5 days still with my math.
-
Saw quite a few of these stocked in the Star Wars section in the regular toy aisle of my newly-reset local Target this morning, down on the bottom shelf with the Vandor-1 playset.
-
Resurrecting this thread so all can be on the lookout at Ross. I found one of these today for $7.99, not a bad price at all for the figure.

I got one of those too! Agreed this is a great deal, even if you just want the Tarkin.
