I think if the defense found out a case was being funded by a GoFundMe drive, they'd end up using that to get the case thrown out.
It seems like Phurby is in a good position, able to absorb the legal costs. And as soon as he makes it to court, he'll have the Shelby and can easily recoup any outlays. The hassle sucks, but it is what it is. Better this than settle for half the value splitting the vehicle with a thief.
