I also really enjoyed 5th Element, but I could in no way add Dune to that list - I watched it a few years ago for the first time one afternoon and it bored me to death.

Not sure how old this is, but just happened across this list at Yahoo today.  100 Movies to See Before You Die: The Modern Classics, consisting only of movies from 1990 to 2009.

Teaser trailer for next summer's Cowboys and Aliens.  Looks kind of spiffy.

Interesting.  I thought it was going to be more of a Firefly-type thing.  Aliens invading the old west is a bit more intriguing.

Olivia Wilde looks to be on the way to Sci-Fi go-to girl.

Just saw this information regarding Dreamworks' plans for sequels for their animated franchises.  Apparently we can expect two more Madagascar movies (total of four), 5 more Kung Fu Panda movies (total of six), and at least two more How to Train Your Dragon movies.  Seems a little ridiculous, sequels wise.  I will say, although we've enjoyed some of the Dreamworks stuff, I still think it pales in comparison to the work of Pixar.

The only worthwhile franchise out of that bunch is Panda.  Dragon sucked.

The Penguins from Madagascar were entertaining; the monkeys even more so.  Dragon was ok, but a sequel is hardly necessary.  I liked Panda too but five more movies?  Ugh.

It's really a pity they can't leave some movies well enough alone.  Often a classic movie is far better remembered than a classic followed by two vastly lesser sequels, and no, I'm not thinking of Star Wars.  Shrek is what came to mind.  Or Austin Powers.  Leave it be you greedy bastards.

I'd see a movie about the Penguins from Madagascar before seeing another Madagascar film.  The Penguins were the best part of that first film.

I finally just saw Kun Fu Panda and thought it was fun, but one sequel is probably one too many, 5?  Absolutely ridiculous.  I wonder if they really think they'll get that many in theaters or are they planning direct to video for most/all of them sort of like Disney has done with some of their older franchises. (I didn't read the article so if it's in there, just call me a lazy bastard).

The author that wrote 'How to Train Your Dragon' also had about 5 other books, so I'm not surprised that they are making more of those movies.  I have to say that I thought the Madagascar movies were pretty bad and like others only thought the penguins were funny.  I'll be interested to see how KFP2 is next year and whether or not there needs to be four additional movies after that.  I'd also be a little worried about Dustin Hoffman making it for four more movies...  Just sayin'.

Yeah, I agree.  I enjoyed Kung Fu Panda quite a bit, and I look forward to the sequel as well.  The others, not sure it was necessary.  I like Dragon, and could really take or leave the Madagascar stuff for the most part.  Its ok, but multiple sequels aren't really necessary.  I totally agree on something like Shrek.  I remember going to see the first one, and thinking it was hilarious.  I don't think I've really enjoyed any of then since (although I've only seen parts of the third, and none of the fourth one yet).  Granted, I'm probably not the target audience for most of this stuff, but if these are all going to the theater, it does seem a little like overkill on some of these franchises.

Potential for the best Western since Unforgiven?  I believe so...

Agreed.  Love that the title does not take itself seriously at all.
