Vintage Kenner / Re: Done
« on: July 20, 2003, 05:32 PM »
Thanks Guys. I went through a mixture of feelings when I finally put him on the shelf.

First was relief. I had finally done it.

Then came sorrow. The biggest thrill of collecting was striving for the goal. There is an end to vintage and you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

After going through those emotions I felt the thrill of the hunt comming back. I do have them all now but I need a weapon for Ree Yees and Leia, my Biker Scout is a bit yellow and a couple of others are a bit marked up.

Since I started collecting just over a year ago I've gone ballistic. In time I'll learn to collect in moderation. I intend to post my photos in the collections corner here but until I can get around to it (figure out how), heres a link:

http://forums.thebothanspy.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4467

These are some shots from back in April or May. Alot has changed since then. Keep an eye out for my wall of R2. There are a few signed by Kenny Baker and now I believe I am up to 34 moc and most of the loose R2s from most eras. There are Trilogos/bilogos/bootlegs/errors/serial number variations and so on.

If you have an R2 that I don't I would love to have him. I will never have the biggest collection but I wish to have every R2 variation that ever existed (eg ROTJ 77 back and ROTJ 79 back. Thats how addicted I am).

I finally got my last vintage loose figure up to ROTJ. It was Lumat the Ewok and he is mint!

How many more vintage figures to that point do you need?

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Jar Jar Binks
« on: July 16, 2003, 01:27 AM »
Milking a dead horse, or beating a dead horse? I don't think you can milk a horse though. It has no TEETS!  :D

Ya know, David (Boba Binks) can testify that Jar Jar actually plays an important part in the SW Universe. Not only is he a kid movie viewer appeasement, he's the one that pretty much said yes to the creation of the Clone Army by giving Palpy the power. Thus leading to the end of the Jedi Order.

Gotta love Jar Jar..

A horse has teets. Birds and lizzrads don't. You wouldn't want to breast feed a bird anyway (beek). The analogy is my own and you can see the lack of usefullness in milking a dead horse (wierd but the point is notable).

Jar Jar might have had a bit of a purpose but in appeasing the children they upset a large amount of OT fans with high expectations. He didn't need a "hip hoppish" accent, but I can sort of put up with Jar Jar's general poor humour stupidity.

I'm new to the computer world. Since February or so. It appears its just common sense to know that Jar Jar is as useful as the act of milking a dead horse. :-\

Can anybody tell me if they have a Clone War R2-D2? If they don't, are they going to make one?

Any pictures?

Watto's Junk Yard / What are your collecting goals?
« on: June 23, 2003, 09:38 AM »
The way I look at collecting is having a collection inside of a collection. Some people have alot of Star Wars stuff but they specifically try to collect a set of something.

Myself I have alot of figures moc from the different series-just the ones I like. My collections inside of a collection would be trying to get one of every loose vintage figure, all Ep.1 moc, and one of every different R2-D2 card variation that ever came out.

Realistically, what are your immediate goals (not like "I want one of everything"). What is your collecting passion?

In ESB Han attaches the Millenium Falcon to the side of the Star Destroyer. Is Christopher Reeves (Superman) the Communications Officer:?

It went like this:

Captain "Neeta": They can't have disappeared. No ship that small has a cloaking device.

Officer #1: Well theres no trace of them Sir.

Communications Officer: Captain. Lord Vader demands an update on the persuit.

If not it surely looks and sounds like him.

Was Kenny Baker in Labyrinth? The thing I like about this post is that it gives me a chance to get answers to the questions I've always had.

Fantastic opinion Jesse. I never thought about Jar Jar that way but your right. If they also eased up a bit on the comedy act, it would help blend it in with the OT.

What was the name of the movie that James Earl Jones was in with Robert Duval as his long lost brother? Their mother was a blind black woman.

Can you name some other movies that Star Wars actors have been in?

Natalie Portman: The Professional
Movie about an assassin(she must have been 10 yrs. old)

Kenny Baker: Time Bandits

Mark Hammel: The Guyver (or something like that)
cheesy sci-fi alien suit movie

Harrison Ford: Indiana Jones Trilogy

Carrie Fisher: Blues Brothers

Billy Dee Williams: Ghost Busters?

Ewan McGregor: Trainspotting

What was the name of the movie that Ewan McGregor and Cameron Diaz were in together when he tries to kidnap her?

Can you think of some movies? Harrison Ford has a million of them.
