Title: Sideshow Collectibles 1:1 Busts
Post by: JesseVader08 on May 21, 2005, 02:26 AM
Yes, it's true!

http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=051905swbusts

1:1 Scale with Sideshow's love for detail?  Should be amazing!

The San Diego Comic-Con, July 14-17th, will tell us who the first bust will be.

Any guesses?

Whatever it is, you can guarantee this will be one of the most expensive Star Wars collectibles on the market right now...

I don't think it takes a brain surgeon to figure out what Sideshow's first piece would be.  Darth Vader.  How could they NOT do that for the launch of this line?

Bearing that in mind, I think these things could easily cost $600+.  I would be very surprised if they cost less than even $500.

Id be surprised to see them go the route of a helmeted character, simply because it gets so close to doing a helmet replica, and not a character bust. Unless they do a Vader revealed, and I could see the easily fetch $1200+

I'm one of the biggest Vader collectible fans out there, but I'm actually hoping that they don't do Vader first, simply because they've got the Vader statue coming out soon.

I haven't been very impressed with the facial sculpts of Luke and Han for their statues, so I'm not sure they can pull off human busts.  I hope I'm wrong though.

I'd love to see them do creature busts, like Chewie.  They'd be a lot more interesting (unless, like I said, they can improve their human sculpting).

If this is a sign of what we can expect for the price of these busts, I'll never be buying one of these.

Predator 1:1 Bust (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=predator_scifi&item=2904&type=store) : $845

However, it certainly is encouraging as to their ability to sculpt creature-type faces.   :)

Seeing pictures like this is starting to make it much easier to change the focus of my collection from Hasbro to these higher end pieces.

I'd **** my drawers if I came around a corner and saw that staring at me.

I want need one!

:o Wow! That's incredible quality. Is that some kind of scan?

When I scrolled down to that third photo with the hood down and him staring straight into the camera, I literally jerked back from the screen.

And that Predator is incredible!

after watching ECW's One Night Stand on DVD I have to quote something from the show...

:o :o :oHOLY ****! :o :o :o

That is one of the best looking statues for Star Wars. If this is what they can do with Darth Maul, just imagine what they could do with Boba Fett, Darth Vader, Boushh, Luke, Han, Chewie or anyone else for that matter.

If I had thousands of dollars to throw around, I would love a helmetless clone, or Dooku, or even Asajj Ventress. But they're a teensy bit beyond my disposable income bracket. :'(

Not a thousand, Considerably less, actually (http://sideshow.directtrack.com/z/10140/CD996/&l=48152).

Now, to decide between this and the Sideshow Vader+Ben :P

Now, to decide between this and the Sideshow Vader+Ben :P

Do I really have to choose?  Damn.

$600 - I'd say that's actually a bargain for such a kick-ass piece.

Of course, my wifey won't see it that way after I told her I ordered the Sideshow Ben (in addition to Vader).   :-[

Is Ben up for order already?  Holy crap, that's bad news, very bad news.

I've taken some very scary steps this year.  I've bought or will be buying a total of 10 items that have a total cost of around $2500.

Hey kids!  The Darth Maul 1:1 Bust is now up for preorder!

Click here (http://sideshow.directtrack.com/z/12943/CD996) and search for item 2909FLEX to get your preorder in.

The nice thing is they've allowed FLEX Payments with this bust since it's $600.  Three monthly payments of $200 each makes it a little easier to budget for:

Mar 5th 2006 - $200.00
Apr 5th 2006 - $200.00
May 5th 2006 - $200.00

* Shipping costs and any applicable taxes or duties are charged in addition to your last payment.

Expect to see this bad boy ship during the 2nd quarter of 2006.

Here's the second in the line of 1:1 busts. Thoughts? (http://sideshow.directtrack.com/z/10140/CD996/&l=48153)
Title: Re: Sideshow Greedo 1:1 Bust
Post by: JesseVader08 on November 11, 2005, 08:10 PM
It looks amazing, though I'm not sure why they picked Greedo for their 2nd 1:1 bust.  Although it's tricky because I imagine they want to do busts, not helmets, so some of the more popular names that come to mind would be excluded.

Sideshow has put up photos of the production version of the Darth Maul (http://sideshow.directtrack.com/z/10140/CD996/&l=48152) bust.  Hot diggity, it looks sweet!  Shipping in the 2nd quarter, it's limited to 1000 pieces.  For a juicy $600.

That's a tough one -- the trick is finding a character that has a visually interesting face.  So the aliens would be the most interesting to me, humans would be pretty boring (and probably wouldn't be able to justify the price).

Chewbacca would be great, ideally with a snarl on his face.  It would probably be easier to do a 1:1 bust of Chewie compared to a 12" or PF figure since they could use the same material as the original costume.

I dunno ... wasn't the original costume made of individually hand-applied yak hair or something like that? That would be one heck of a lot of work to do for a thousand-odd busts....

Looks like there's going to be another bust coming shortly.  If you check out Sideshow's virtual display booth under their Comic Con page, hit booth 22.  It's empty but it's in between Greedo at 21 and Maul at 23.  Wonder who it is?

It does look beautiful. I'm just not sure I want to spend that much on it yet. I'm sure the price will go down after a while. It doesn't sound like it's going to sell out that quickly from what I've been hearing. Razors Edge Collectibles has this for $315.00, so if I get it, I'll certainly save myself the $35.00 and get it from them instead of Sideshow.

I'm adding this General Grievous to my collection. $500.00 is not bad at all either. I figured it would have been around the $600.00 mark or higher. so that was a nice surprise. Of course, I'll be ordering it from Mike at Razors Edge for $450.00 though.  ;)

Oh. My. God.  :o

The sculpt on Sebastian Shaw's face is amazing.

"Sideshow is proud to announce the Darth Vader Life-Size Bust, created in partnership with the talented FX artists at Spectral Motion. Capturing every detail of the Sith Lord and his helmet, this versatile bust has been constructed so that the helmet may be removed to reveal Anakin's scarred visage. The interior of the face and neck portions of the mask are fully detailed to represent all of the wiring and technology necessary to sustain Anakin inside his suit. The bust is crafted in fiberglass, polystone, fabric and metal for the most authentic and realistic representation. Each piece is individually painted and finished, each with its own unique quality and detail that is the trademark of a handcrafted Sideshow Collectibles product. Standing over two feet high, the Darth Vader Life-Size Bust is a must-have for any STAR WARS collection."

Over 2 feet tall!!  This would be taller than the premium format figure!

What to do... what to do...
