I picked one of these up today, and for $30 I really dig it. There was really no good rationale for getting it- it may end up a birthday present for the nephew, or it may just take up residence in a corner of the basement. The price and size just made it too hard to resist.

I also would love to see a stormtrooper and fett. That would be enough though!

I confess I was the runner-up  did anyone here win it? I'm hoping we learn more about it-

I'm one of the dustier monkeys on this branch at 44.
My kids have gotten past the point where they enjoy the hobby with me. That makes it tougher to keep adding new items. If I want something, I sell something else to get it. I limit myself with arbitrary numbers, and space to devote to the hobby. I still enjoy what I own, but it takes up far less of my brain than it used to. I spend more time working, teaching and training karate, reading, with my wife, and my daughters before they get tired of that too (they are 13 and 15).
Don't let what you own define you. If Hasbro turns out great stuff, enjoy it. If not, find something else to enjoy. It's all over way too soon to waste a moment blaming or pestering a multinational toy company- what they do or don't do should have a negligible impact on your life, if any. I know someone with a small hobby store as part of his regular business. He's had more than a few families come to him in the last few years with dozens and dozens of boxes of brand new star wars toys, trying to figure out how to liquidate it as part of an estate. You don't want the biggest thing you pass on to be a bunch of unused toys.

I saw it too, but when I realized he had another 70 prototypes for sale, and many more sold, I started thinking 3D printer in my head. Probably completely wrong, but that seems a strange thing to have hundreds of for sale-

All that said, I will probably be bidding.

I still have a few of these in the collection- they really are nice pieces. It actually shows just how good an animated OT seres could look. Here's hoping some of these artists are involved in Rebels. 

I like the animated format far more than the idea a new galactica or trek show.
 
Given the expense of movies/live action, the fact that actors age, and the ability to tell more stories, this type of media allows for much more to be done/told.

I know toy collectors were split on (or spit on) the animated CW stuff, but I really liked the line. If I never buy another action figure, I still have plenty.

But if they made a cool animated show, and some toys to go with it, I know I would end up getting some of them. Particularly a cool new ship or two. CW really had some cool designs.

the 3 3/4 inch basic line has mined the Lucas movies to the point that is probably getting close to, if not at, the bottom of the old barrel. Yes there are more they can make, but Hasbro works on the McDonald's theory of scale/numbers. I just don't see much left from the OT/PT that can sell in mass quantities.

Here's hoping Rebels is cool, and Hasbro doesn't lay an egg on their end.   

I can't disagree with that one bit. They need a cow to milk if we ever want cheese again. It doesn't have to be our cow- if they can pickpocket parents to finance a nice action figure here and there, we are even better off.
