What rumors have you heard about the title of Episode III?
-
Maybe the Revenge of a Jedi...didn't work before but this is one case in which a Jedi is going to get his revenge....a Jedi and not the Jedi.
-
Good point!! I was thinking more along the lines of "The Fall of the Republic" or "The Rise of the Empire". It could also be "A New Order", because that was how Palpitine referred to his time in power.
-
Revenge of the Jedi seems so perfect, but then again so similar to ROTJ. Anyways, I'm sure whatever the title is, we'll hate it but it'll grow on us after a while. :)
-
Why would it be Revenge of the Jedi if most of them get killed?I mean how can you get revenge when your dead?Rise of the Empire ,sounds good to me.
-
Rise of the Empire or Revenge of the Sith. Then the public would make fun of the term Sith. Move wove some letters around you know. Most likely it be something totally off the wall like A Galaxy Shrivels.
-
Did we ultimately approve of "Attack of the Clones?" I remember some fans being vehemently opposed to that title. Maybe once the DVDs are released in that uber set, George will retitle the entire trilogy.
I kinda like "Episode III" myself. I'd hate for the title to spoil the ending for us. They should just keep the title a secret until it hits theatres. Imagine keeping something THAT secret these days.
-
I would put my money down on "Rise of the Empire."
-
Revenge of the Sith
-
I like The New Order because it fits with A New Hope, but Fall of the Republic or Rise of the Empire have also been mentioned as titles...At first the title Attack of the Clones didn't sit well with me but after a while it kinda stuck...Mark Hamill when he was told what the title was laughed and said," Is that really the title? It sounds like a Saturday morning retro-TV show!
-
I like rise of the empire
-
I think it'll be called Star Wars Episode III - Shadow of the Sith...
-
nope, i really do think it is:
Star Wars :
Episode III :
The Fall of the Republic
That is the title guys, just accept it you know.
-
I have heard that it has been said that no title that was used for a book thus far will be the title for E3 that it will be totally new. So that knocks over lots of ideas that I kind of had.
I have heard "The Dark Times" being used a lot for the title.
-
Latest Rumor at theforce.net is...
Rise of the Empire
Seems too easy no? There were some domains registered back in AOTC time RiseForth.com...perhaps Rise Forth is something to do with becoming a Sith
-
I hope this is not the title for EPIII, it sucks!
Fall of the Republic
[/b][/i]
Sounds so much better, it really does!
-
I read today at tf.n about 'rise of the empire' and personally I do like it. I wasn't thrilled with 'the phantom menace' and at first hated 'attack of the clones'. I think with the OT titles, they summarized the chapter that movie depicted: 'a new hope', 'the empire strikes back' and 'return of the jedi'.
I didn't think aotc fit the movie.
But in reality, whatever they call it, I'm gonna go see it and buy it and watch it a million times over. :)
-
But see I really liked : Attack of the Clones.
The Phantom Menace was OK, but did not really sound like a Star Wars title!
Rise of the Empire , I do not think we really need another Empire!
A New Hope, The Empire Strikrs Back, Return of the Jedi.
But I really like Fall of the Republic it fits!
-
RS said something about a chat board talking about a teaser with "Rise of the Empire" as the title for E3. It's probly totally fake.
-
I haven't liked either of the Prequel flick's titles at all... But with those last two selections, George has proven that he's not going to use anything even remotely close to what the fans are suggesting, which would be the best titles that would make the most sense in context of the movies.
Rise of the Empire should have been the title for Episode 2.
Fall of the Republic should be the title for Episode 3. (which would of course cause serious confusion with LOTR: FOTR)
The former certainly didn't happen, and neither will the latter. Prepare for another completely lame title. Hell, I think plain ol' Star Wars: Episode 1, 2, and 3 would've been better than the disjointed popcorn crap Lucas has been spitting out so far. ::)
Another good title for Ep. 3 would be Jar Jar DIES. 8)
-
Another good title for Ep. 3 would be Jar Jar DIES. 8)
In all do time big mac, in all due time.
-
Another good title for Ep. 3 would be Jar Jar DIES. 8)
I doubt it will be called that, Matt, since Lucas will end up inserting him to take the place of certain members of the OT films. ;D
As for titles I like:
Revenge of the Sith
The Jedi Betayed
The Final Film (entil Lucas decides he needs more money)
The Dark Side Calls (or Beckons) (Part of the ROTJ Sound track where Luke is dueling Darth)
Palpatine Got Game/Sidous Can't Jump
I hope it isn't the last one but who know with Lucas.
-
The rumor cesspool is in full churn today at tf.n it seems. They've posted a stinkingly fanboy poster as well.
Personally, I think its bunk. My fanboy title would be Revenge of the Sith, but that's just as likely as anyone else's preference. It won't be any of the above, based on history and the GL random whimsy.
If they plan on announcing the title or using it in an OT DVD trailer, it needs to be locked late in July. I bet we hear real news in June or so.
Of course, I'd enjoy being proved wrong.
-
I'm still sticking with with guess of "Rise of the Empire." It makes the most sense.
-
Well, I think this is the teaser poster for EPIII:
Also, found some news over at TheForce.net:
I really like this news!:
EP3: Start Of The Trailer Rumors
Thu, Mar 18, 04 03:02:13 PM EST
A source contacted us today with a rumor about the Episode 3 trailer:
The first teaser trailer will not be out in November like the schedule for TPM and AOTC, instead the Trailer will be out THIS MAY, probably memorial Day weekend.
We'll see whether or not this pans out. There have been rumor similar to this on the last two films. However, while it breaks away from what happened on the last two movies, it might be part of a bigger marketing strategy before the Classic Trilogy DVDs arrive in the fall. We'll see!
-
where did that poster image come from? is that a fan made piece?
-
not to sure, found it on The Force.net!
-
Also, spotted over at www.starwars.com, their partial EPIII cast listing, now has - Amy Allen as Aayla Secura. I don't know about all you but that makes me very excited! ;D
Here is the link, that shows the information:
http://www.starwars.com/episodeiii/castcrew.html
-
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!
:o
I'm gonna go with Rise of the Empire or Revenge of the Sith.
-
i'm gonna go with Episode III The Jedi Will Fall
-
The poster is a fake. You can see the (poorly) photoshoped edits.
-
What is it???
My Choices:
Rise of The Empire
Fall of The Republic
Empire <===my fav. cuz episode V is Empire Strikes back
-
New title rumor curtosey of AICN...
A Creeping Fear
-
I don't like this for Star Wars.
I feel the force connection with this title?
"A Creeping Fear"
Sound's like a chessy scary movie title!
-

"A Creeping Fear"
Sound's like a chessy scary movie title!
Guaranteed to be the chessiest movie since Searching for Bobby Fischer!
-
I think (if its right) that it is perfectly matched with the other 2 prequels...he's really went bonko with the whole Serial Movie nod with these movies.
I'm actually more inclined to believe this than Rise of the Empire
-
Really?
I still think it is "The Fall of the Republic"?
-
I personaly don't belive any of these. Mainly due to the fact that a title has not been chosen yet.
-
How about Star Wars Episode 3 - Sith Happens ...sums up the entire plot really, dosn't it? ;D
-
Good one, I think its safe to say with the April Fools trick yesterday that it is NOT The Creeping Fear
-
Yeah!
I was really happy to know that the Creeping Fear is not the title. Hopefully in a few monnths we will actually see the title of The Fall of the Republic!
-
When did we get the title for Episode 2?
I heard we may know what Episode III's title is by June 2004?
-
Here's what I've seen...
-The Birth of an Empire
-The Mask of Evil
-Dawn of the Empire
All very plausable, I suppose...
-
When did we get the title for Episode 2?

"Attack of the Clones" was announced as the title for Episode 2 on August 6th (http://www.starwars.com/episode-ii/news/2001/08/news20010806.html), 2001 (about 9 months ahead of time).
I wouldn't look for an offical title until late summer of this year... but it never hurts to speculate :)
How about:
Star Wars: Episode 3 - The End of the World as We Know It (and Anakin feels evil).
or
Star Wars: Episode 3 - The Wonder Years!
:P

The Bad Guys Win ;D

That sounds real good man ! Straight to the point !
-
Episode 3 Shroud of the Darkside
Kevin
Wow thats actually a good guess.
-
You said it Betty. My mind is too shoudded in darkness to have guessed that !
-
I'm still standing my ground with Rise of the Empire.
-
I heard Rise of the Empire as well.
-
Alot of people have said they think it is The Rise of the Empire
Which sounds like a crappy title to me!
-
I think Rise of the Empire is way too obvious, I really liked A Shadow Falls and A Creeping Fear
-
Balance of the Force!
balance of the force is the neame of my yahoo group ;)
But I read over at tf.n this:
EP3: Episode III Title Revealed?
Mon, May 10, 04 03:33:47 PM EDT
Although we're not expecting a title announcement until August or so, we've heard rumblings that BIRTH OF THE EMPIRE is the favorite of the moment. In fact, mockups of movie posters and licensed merchandise are using that working title as of this week, so we fully suspect Lucasfilm is preparing to announce the title (whatever it may be) very soon. Would you like that? Initial reaction here is positive, but we're still hesitant because another SW movie would have "of the" in the title. BotE?
we shall see soon...
-
"BOTE"...hmm....Not too overly thrilled if this ends up being it but if the movies good then I don't really care what they call it.
-
yeah I think 'Dawn of the Empire' sounds better than 'birth...'; or something appropriate to the beginning of the empire but I'm not fond of the rumored 'the creeping fear', sounds really lame.
-
Don't like it...
Attack of the Clones
Return of the Jedi
Meh
-
Just thought though that Birth in the title makes a ton of sense...
Birth of the Empire
Birth of Darth Vader
Birth of the Twins
-
I just don't the word 'birth' inthe title, don't know why, I like 'dawn' better; maybe 'The Empires' Dawn', 'Dawn of the Empire', 'The Hand of Fear', 'Shadows of the Darkside'...
I could go on and on...; makes no difference - only GL knows for sure ;)
-
Why don't they call it
After Birth of the Clones.
Damn lucas always targeting the kiddies.
-
Bull ****! This is not the title of this film. Come on!!! :'(
-
Sort of like "Birth of a Nation"?
Bleck.
-
If its going to be something about the beginning of the Empire, I'd prefer Rise Of The Empire.
The Phantom Menace
Attack Of The Clones (My second favorite title in the saga)
Rise Of The Empire
A New Hope
The Empire Strikes Back (My favorite title in the saga)
Return Of The Jedi
The only problem is two movies in a row with "of the" in the title. Of course, if you rephrase it as The Empire Rises, you'd have two titles very close to each other that start with "The Empire".
Honestly I think Revenge Of The Sith would be the best choice. Sure, you've got "of the" in the title, but it works perfectly. You have Darth Maul's dialogue in the first movie of the saga about how the Sith will have their revenge, and then you have the title of the sixth movie (ROTJ) which mirrors it very well. Its also a bit of a tease of the Revenge of the Jedi Title.
-
I don't like any title that includes the phrase "of the;" it's okay in two of the six, I guess, but half of them?!
Not too creative.
The best title so far has been "The Phantom Menace." Unfortunately, it accompanied the crappiest movie, but still, a cool title. Kind of eery, surmises the plot...just cool. The Empire Strikes Back is pretty sweet, too--blunt and right to the point.
My vote for an Episode III title would be Fallen Order, referring both to the Jedi order and the order of things under the Republic government.
Mmmm...I dunno, though, that's probably just as lame as any other suggestion.
But at least it doesn't have "of the" in it. :D
-
I still maintain Episode 3 should be called 'Sith Happens' ;D
-
Post over at TFN forums says it is...
The Dawn of Tyranny
-
Another news report seconds Birth of the Empire
-
I'm still going with the vowel-heavy End of an Order :P
-
Coming of the Sith.
:)
-
http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2004-06-14-aids-benefit_x.htm
Check out the end
We caught George Lucas wandering around the grounds with his daughter, Katie. The director said the title of Star Wars: Episode III won't officially be announced until November, when the first trailer hits theaters.
But he conceded that fans on Web sites already have guessed correctly. So we threw a couple of rumored titles at him: Rise of the Empire? "No, that's not it," Lucas said. How about Revenge of the Sith?
With that, Lucas smiled knowingly, backed away and teased, "That's a possibility. Lots of titles out there ..."
-
I noticed that article too Scott, I could see that being the title possibly....especially since Lucas likes to "go back" and use things from the past, and "Revenge" was nearly used for ROTJ, but changed because a Jedi wouldn't be "revenging" :). Probably couldn't say the same for those wily Sith lords though.
On a side note....it seems like I really get down on the prequels every once in awhile...I still enjoy them, but am just more of an OT person at heart. That said, it seems once the hype starts for Episode III, and the more I see on hyperspace or various sites, the more excited I start getting for the movies again. I guess, at the end of the day, its still Star Wars....even if its often not as good as the "good ole days". :)
-
While "Revenge of the Sith" has been guessed so many times that it's almost tired, I'm still a big supporter of that title. It's simple, has a bit of OT feel, and flows nicely with "A New Hope". Plus with all that "Revenge" usage history it would be a nice nod to those good ole days, like you said.
I'm really doubting that the title can be held secret until November, though.
-
According to my sources, the title will be revealed at the SDCC next month.
-
Hopefully your sources are correct there John, 'cause I'll be down there, and would love to be on hand at the actual announcement! 8) You going to be there by any chance (work related)?
I like the Revenge of the Sith moniker as well. The OT feel and it's not as stupid/cheesy as TPM/AOTC. Plus, they can finally use that "Revenge" word (properly) in a title, after all these years.
Very suprised with George's purported comment in that USA Today blurb, saying that the fans have already pegged the title at some point. He's so freaking hyper secretive, and apparently adamant about making up his OWN title, that NO ONE'S ever potentially guessed, that I'd be shocked if he goes with something more mainstream that the fan's have been predicting/suggesting.
I'm cool with either ROTE, or ROTS. Good stuff.
-

I might have a tough time convincing my bosses to fly me to the left coast to attend a comic book convention. Even though it's turned into one of the biggest media events of the year and we deal with Marvel, DC, Lucasfilm, and other studios, they'd still scoff.
As for my info, I don't think you'll be disappointed. 8)
-
in the entertainment weekly "must" list a few weeks ago, they mentioned that the new star wars dvd box set contains 10 minutes of behind the scenes features on episode 3 "the return of darth vader".... hmmm, could it be? if so, i don't like it.

::) You kidding me?!?!?

I think that's the title of the Doc on the OT DVD sets, not the title of the movie
I really think they will announce it this week at Comic Con!!!

:D uh you think?!?!?

Uh, yeah ;D That's what one of my long time buds told me with some serious connections at least
We shall see in a few short days!!!
-
Wasn't the Attack of the Clones title revealed around this time back in 2001? Same with The Phantom Menace in 1998? Because if they all were, then I'm very sure we'll know the title by the end of the month. ;)
-
I think they were in the fall, someone posted this info in the thread

And as quickly as it's done at Comic Con, it's on Hyperspace.
Revenge of the Sith (http://www.starwars.com/hyperspace/member/video/5.html)

I bow to those who predicted the title. I still say mine was better. Shroud of the Dark Side.

Ding! 1st guess!

STAR WARS ROCKED SDCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was fortunate enough to be one of the 6500 seated in Hall H when they revealed the title of Ep.III- REVENGE OF THE SITH ;D The 2 hour presentation was wonderful IMO. It included the expected promotion of the upcoming OT DVD/BattleFront video game, various never before shown archival footage, more upcoming video games(Republic Commando, yet to be named Ep.III video game).
But, it started getting good when they introduced Carrie Fisher for a little Q&A for about 25 minutes,an hour into it. A few more video clips,Ep.III package reveal and then enter the rather portly Rick MaCallum.
He brought some very cool behind the scene Ep.III footage, some more Q&A and then treated us with some killer video of Hayden in the Vader suit, donning the Helmet and a quick shot of the ANH looking Vader standing/looking at a cloaked Sidious/Emperor. :o ;D
Now this is where is starts to get AWESOME,Steve Sansweet introduces someone no one expected to see..... Hayden Christensen!! :o No surprise the fans go go CRAZY! The panel(Steve,Rick,Hayden) get to talking, nothing most of us haven't heard before. Hayden bulked up for the role, intensive fight training, etc. Q&A opened up and on one of the question was asked who is the better swordsman Ewan or you? Hayden playfully smacked "I can beat him with one hand behind my back". ;D but later replied both of them as being pretty equal.
I'm saving the best for last. Steve teased us at the begining of the presentation "That we may be rewarded with something special at the end of the show." and boy he wasn't kidding! The lights dim playing on the giant screens the best sequences of each movie ending with the title. Then what everyone was dying to see. The Duel to end all Duels flashes than the money shot with a triumphant John Williams famous crescendo ending: Star Wars Episode III- REVENGE OF THE SITH. The crowed erupts, and roars with the most thunderous cheers of the afternoon!
With that the lights come on revealing steve ripping off his Vader jersey to reveal the killer Revenge of the Sith exclusive T-shirt now on sale at the Star Wars pavillion. The mad dash was on...... and so was the cluster f**k of the massive line. >:( but it was all good in the end, as I luckily managed to get my ROTS T-shirts. :) Man,I can't wait to experience Revenge of the Sith!
-
Dude, I love this title.
;D
Now I want me one o' them t-shirts.
-
Oh, I wish I was there!!! That must have been a blast DuelSaberBlaster, thanks for sharing!!
-
Star Wars Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith (ROTS). It better not! :-\
-
The actual name for Episode III is Revenge of the Sith. It was announced by Lucas Film a few days ago.
-
Yep, the same title that this forum has. ;)
Welcome to the site. :P
-
Lucas Film
The actual name for "Lucas Film" is "Lucasfilm".
-
Merging these last 3 posts in here from the Ep. 3 figure forum... ;)
As for the title itself, I'm pretty damned happy that Lucas finally nailed one. The first two SUCKED, and I was under the distinct impression that he would NEVER have a title that half the internet was already guessing/proposing.
So needless to say, I'm pleasantly surprised to see that I'm wrong on that assumption now, since a lot of people were hoping it'd be "Revenge of the Sith".
And I was at that same Comic Con presentation, along with Ricardo above, and I've gotta say that the 6,500 people raucously ROARED their approval the second that "Revenge of the Sith" popped up on the screen. It was one of my alltime most wonderful Star Wars moments being in that room at that particular moment. I think after everyone finally stopped screaming and yelling in approving jubilation, there was a gigantic, collective sigh of relief that we finally had a cool and appropriate "Star Wars-ish" title again.
I'm stoked on it. Just mildly bummed that the initials come out to "ROTS", but oh well! :P
-
The Bad Guys Win ;D
I guess I was wrong :)
I like the title but Worry about Revenge of the Nerds comparisons for the rest of time
-
I like the new title much more than the prior two for sure. But unfortunately, the movie's probably still gonna suck like the last two did (IMO). Better title, but the same ol George. :-\
-
;DHey now, give the movie a chance. It may turn out pretty good. Remember, the originals got torn apart when they fisrt came out and now they are part of cinematic immortality.
