Bad Star Wars mojo in my area...
« on: June 6, 2005, 04:05 PM »
Just in from the Associated Press....

LINCOLN, Neb.  (AP) - Angry, he is.
Jason Scott of Lincoln says about $4,000 worth of Star Wars memorabilia he's collected since his childhood has been stolen.  The 34 year old Scott says he noticed Friday that the padlock on his storage unit at his apartment complex had been broken.
Upon investigation, he discovered the Star Wars collectibles kept there had been taken.  Among them were an original 12 inch tauntaun figurine, now valued at $125, and two carrying cases with 50 figurines inside.  Also missing are three rare figures of "blue snaggletooth", an obscure character who appeared in the cantina scene in the first 1977 film.  The figure is prized by collectors.
Scott says when he discovered the theft he "almost hyperventilated".

Guess the moral of the story, don't store in a storage unit.

Bummer.  :-\

It had to be someone he knew. Otherwise, I doubt they'd know he was a Star Wars fan.

Terrible!

Being 1) a SW fan myself... 2) a radio news director...and 3) member of thread boards, I posted it on all of them.

That's a bummer...  I agree that there's a strong chance that it's someone he knew who knew it was in there...  Wonder if other stuff was taken though?

Collector Wants 'Star Wars' Toys Back

I would never store collectables in a storage unit.

I have thought about a storage unit before but that scenario would always pop in my mind.  I feel bad for the guy.

Other than being a radio news director and having easy access to AP, there was one other reason this story hit me.

I had to call in a correction on the story to the AP.  The story orignally read that one of the items stolen was a "12 inch ton-ton".  :D:D

Funny, but the newspaper that broke the story used the same spelling for tauntaun.  Cretins.
