NO Dais for Jabba shown... that jives with what we were told here at JD. However, and I'll put it out there, that a 6" Scale Dais was at the very least, designed/mocked up in some capacity... Too expensive for the assortment, obviously, but the idea is there. :-X :-*

JTA reporting that Jabba w/ Dais is SDCC exclusive
... along with Salacious Crumb, too.
-
I'm not totally surprised. ;)
Slightly though, at least where it ultimately landed.
-
There were pretty open hints about it but no one was willing to come right out and say it, which is why I said...
There were hints that a Dais/Salacious Crumb type set could come in the future
Either they got someone to confirm it on the record or they are just willing to risk being wrong and tossing it out there as confirmed.
-
Seems like a kind of dick move to make it a SDCC exclusive to me, but then again so does making the Carbo Han one. :-\ I just knew the Dais was mocked up basically, but cost was playing some issue because it's so big and people were already po'd about cost of the basic figures.
-
Any word on whether you'll be able to order one if you can't attend SDCC? I didn't bother with the Fett / Han because they said both pieces would be available later, so I don't recall how accessible the exclusive was if you couldn't attend.
-
lolz
-
So no point in buying the single carded Jabba then?
-
Any word on whether you'll be able to order one if you can't attend SDCC?
If recent history of the past few years holds, there will be a brief 35-second period after SDCC where they will be up on HasbroToyShop for order... then there will be a second 7-second window when they re-post it after credit card declines and inventory reset. Good luck!
-
So i should set aside $300 or so for eBay, check.
If anyone is going and wants to help me out.... :)
-
What did Fett wind up going for? $300 may be asking price from Hasbro. :P
-
I think they were $50 at the convention and more like $150 afterwards. I'm guessing we can double all of that, $100 at the show, $250 to $300 on the after market.
-
I wouldn't be shocked at those prices, especially because I'd imagine anyone who did wind up with a Fett may desperately want the Jabba/Dais if that pans out.
-
Seriously though, if anyone doesn't collect the 6" line and finds themselves at SDCC and might be able to help me with a Jabba... :-\ :-*
-
I never pursued the Carbonite set, and while the dais won't stop me from collecting this line, it will stop me from buying Jabba. Until he goes on clearance after dragging down this aspect of the line and closing the door on future 6 inch deluxe pieces. I would not have attempted him at retail without the dais. I understand that they're splitting the difference, and either way it's a lose-lose for hasbro since without it he's unattractive and with it he's too expensive. But I don't see a lot of people dropping $40 on him when they can't complete the rest of the set up, and I see a lot of Jabbas backing up as a lot of speeders fly off the shelf.
-
I think you are right on Darby. I have a feeling if you don't get your hands on the Speeder in the first couple of cases a retail store gets, you won't get another chance because the Jabbas will hold the shelf space going forward.
Could the package for Jabba be any more obvious something is wrong? There should be a word bubble with Jabba saying "Where's my stuff?" in that space.
-
This is terrible idea, unless the dais is offered on its own later. Why not just offer the whole shebang as a TRU exclusive instead with no regular release of Jabba?
-
TRU may not bite. That comes up a lot... they have had a LOT of stuff they've shopped around for a long time and nobody bites. Funeral Pyre Vader is a prime example. There are more too, trust me. Some get out eventually but retailers are very gunshy I think.
-
There are conflicting stories (http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/content/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=13143) regarding what exactly is exclusive for SDCC 2014. Paul from JTA was sure that it's Jabba with dais and Salacious Crumb, but later on Sat. night it was said to be something much smaller in both size and cost. - Salacious Crumb and cardboard dias only.
-
And this is why I'm not going to bother getting worked up until it's official.
A cardboard dais is a waste of time.
-
I see a lot of Jabbas backing up as a lot of speeders fly off the shelf.
+1 Can't believe these are 1 per case. They should have shipped them 3 per case and gone 2:1 Scouts to Jabba. Hasbro just doesn't know their consumers at all.
-
Yeah, no sense getting worked up over it (not that I'm buying 6") since the information is "fuzzy" anyway. A cardboard one would theoretically get a lot less groaning I'd imagine.
A "real" one was immediately looked at as expensive. :-X
-
If they don't make a legitimate one, I might try to make one myself...
-
I've been working with insulation sheets a lot lately... A military collector buddy of mine turned me onto some easy building-methods with that stuff, and I've been pleased with what I've turned out. Simplistic things so far, and a school project for one of the boys, but enough positives I could see using this for a lot more complex projects I'd like to do or have had on my table for a bit.
The problem with Jabba's Dais is of course things like the heads on the front... Those would be tricky to do in 6" scale short of being a good sculptor/caster.
-
I'll just repost what I said earlier...
There were pretty open hints about it but no one was willing to come right out and say it, which is why I said...
There were hints that a Dais/Salacious Crumb type set could come in the future
Either they got someone to confirm it on the record or they are just willing to risk being wrong and tossing it out there as confirmed.
The hinting I heard was something along the lines of 'wouldn't it be neat to see a Dais with Salacious Crumb to go along with Jabba... sometime... in the near future... somewhere' or something like that.
I assumed it meant as a basic $40 release, but the SDCC thing fits too so it made sense when I read it... that's the problem with hints I guess - open to interpretation. :-\
-
Very much want the dias and especially Salacious Crumb if it happens. I shall be saving up for ebay as well.
-
Boom (http://popwatch.ew.com/2014/05/02/star-wars-toys-first-look-at-hasbros-jabba-the-hutt-comic-con-exclusive/#)
-
So... the "dais/crumb" hints at Toy Fair seem to have been costed down to just Crumb, Hooka/pipe/bowl, and box that doubles as cardboard dais.
I can hear the fan rage coming already...
-
Honestly this is about what I expected for this exclusive. I was thinking that an actual throne piece would cost way too much money, especially since the 4-inch scale set was priced around $40 back in 2010. Overall this is a neat set, and it would make a nice companion piece for those who have the Fett set. For the rest of us maybe a mail away set with the pipe/railing, Salacious, and Hansicle will come down the road.
-
They couldn't price any of that into the retail set? Wha?
-
I've been selective with this line so far, and Jabba goes into the "no" pile now.
-
Don't write off 6" Jabba too quickly.
OK, sure, maybe write off the SDCC version, but the regular 6" Jabba release should get pretty cheap when they start piling up at Amazon because everyone is buying up the Scout/Bike sets and leaving the Jabbas. :-X
-
So what's the deal between the exclusive and retail? No pipe and salacious crumb?
-
SDCC Jabba set includes 6" Jabba, 6" scale Crumb, Pipe/Bowl/Railing, and fancy package/box that opens up to act as a cardboard dais/display.
Regular Jabba includes 6" Jabba and that's it.
-
Any word on the price difference? Feeling like the regular one will end up at a fifth the price of the SDCC one.
-
Ugh, what a kick to the nuts. Not surprising though, they really seem to excel at finding a way to piss everyone off with these things.
I will of course be buying one, but I think I'm going to try the pre-order route this time instead of waiting until after the fact like last year.
This is gonna hit $200+ on eBay easy...
-
Salacious Crumb = SDCC exclusive now
-
Great, who's going and could help me get one at a reasonable price?!
:) ??? :-\

Looks like this Jabba will be $65 (compared to $40 for the regular version).
Here's the blurb from Hasbro -
STAR WARS THE BLACK SERIES 6-INCH JABBA THE HUTT THRONE ROOM ACTION FIGURE SET
(Approximate Retail Price: $64.99; Ages 4 & up: Available through HasbroToyShop.com, Booth #3229 at Comic-Con International San Diego)
The fan-favorite STAR WARS THE BLACK SERIES 6-inch action figure line jumps to hyperspace in 2014 with the introduction of iconic in-scale vehicles and alien creatures, all featuring the incredibly accurate design and high level of articulation fans have come to expect from THE BLACK SERIES collection. Fans will have their first opportunity to collect a 6-inch scale JABBA THE HUTT at San Diego Comic-Con with the JABBA THE HUTT's Throne Room Action Figure Set, which comes with exclusive railing, hookah, and in-scale SALACIOUS CRUMB action figure. The figures are packed out in a special, scene-accurate display that depicts JABBA's throne room, complete with space for last year's HAN SOLO in Carbonite (no longer available). Following the convention, a limited number will be available on HasbroToyShop.com.
-

$65 is reasonable, though why they couldn't at least squeeze Salacious into the mass retail version is beyond me. I imagine the Dais would have added at least another $40 to the cost, if not more.
last year's HAN SOLO in Carbonite (no longer available).
Thanks for rubbing it in 'bro.

I know, right. Still want one, Hasbro.
-
Pumped for Salacious Crumb. Can't wait.
-
Anyone going to get one with a friend or buddy who might be able to help them get an extra, and doesn't want to sell it for big bucks on eBay, let me know. I'd love you forever.
-
Initially I wasn't that excited for Jabba, but he sure looks good with Crumb and that packaging is pretty sharp.
-
Up on Ebay, and not cheap but may be your only shot, soooooooo....\

Why does the listing say Loose.
"Star Wars The Black SERIES JABBA THE HUTT'S TONE ROOM 6X 11 inch pre LOOSE SDC"
-
Think it has everything but the outer packaging so it's technically loose.
-
Let the F5'ing at HTS commence! ;D
-
Is that today or do the exclusives typically show up later or after the convention? I didn't manage to get the Fett last time and can't remember when it briefly showed up.

-
Ahhh, right. I guess I was thinking of Neca, Skybound, etc. Their stuff always goes up while the con is running.
That's actually good, I should definitely know by then if the one I pre-ordered is going to come through.

Anyone else reading into things, perhaps a little too much maybe, at the last few bits of that article? :-\
BTW his mouth moves? That's pretty friggin' awesome actually.
-
Yesss!!! Just got confirmation from my proxy out at SDCC that she was able to score this for me tonight!
Sort of takes the excitement out of sweating out the inevitable HTS debacle, but yeah, that's cool. :D
Definitely need a new display area though, between this and the upcoming Biker Scout, we're talking a whole new dedicated shelf.

$115 at BBTS

Eh, that could be worse really.
-
I'm tempted... I'm thinking I'll order one then cancel it or offer it up to someone else if I'm lucky enough to get one through HTS.

Is it worth checking today or do people think this is still a week out? I didn't see any sign of the exclusives on HTS this morning.
-
It is usually the Tues/Wed after the con, so today might be asking a little much, but tomorrow or Wednesday are much more likely for it to pop up.
-
Yeah, but the Fett's went so fast last year I'd rather start looking too early.
Although, I did order one from BBTS - so rather than getting stuck without one, I'm now hoping to get one for $50 or so less.
-
Usually you can find the "out of stock" listing before they make it available, so you can bookmark it and refresh it. I haven't been able to find that yet this year.

I actually got it cheaper on ebay with shipping. Still a good price and would have ordered it I didnt already win an auction.

Hasbro Twitter: - about 1:00pm Central
"Missed the Toy Shop line at #SDCC? http://HasbroToyShop.com will have #HasbroSDCC exclusives on sale soon! Check back for details"
-
I was just about to go to lunch and now I sort of am stuck sitting here not knowing if it's going to be 5 hours or 5 minutes away...
-
If you know anyone in Germany it will be available there too at Jedi-Con (http://jedi-con.de/starwars-en/merchandise/index.php)
-
I might have an extra for sale but I have to wait for some friends to get back to me.
-
Nothing up on their site yet, no placeholders or anything...
-
so 24 hours... so far.
I wonder how Hasbro's social media team defines the word 'soon.'

Is that Scrabble School Program tempting anyone yet? :D
-
Glad to see that I'm not the only one watching that page like a hawk.
-
I've been going at it since 7:30am EST and yes the Scrabble Game looks tempting... being an 80's kid I'm more tempted by the Easy Bake Oven more though... lol
-
I miss the Insight book that used to be available... actually, I seriously regret not picking up a copy.
-
48 Hours since we were told to check back "soon" for details...
I'm getting really sick of looking at the HTS website.
-
Stay tuned for more details at Toy Fair 2015! ;D

O.K., why did I just got to another site to read about people complaining :-\ . The Butthead thing was funny though. :)
-
A half hour away from three solid days.
I'm a patient guy, but what the ****...
-
Since 2004, SDCC exclusives have always been for sale in July. Thanks Obama. :-\

Now that is a name I haven't heard in a long time...a long time
-
Do you guys think there's a chance they'd launch on the weekend?
Sitting in front of my computer refreshing that website every 30 minutes isn't anywhere near as easy when I'm not at the studio.

That sounds more awful than the ebola outbreak.
-
I've been checking on and off all week as well, figuring stuff would go up while we were in the theater today for Guardians. We're off for a family zoo trip tomorrow, so it might happen then as well :). I'm on the fence about the Jabba honestly, I would try to grab it if possible, but I really want the Marvel Legends set with Star-Lord, Medusa, etc. Hopefully the delay is just so they can make more available (wishful thinking).
-
Up for order
-
Got it. It wasn't there when I left for work, I checked my phone in the elevator and there it was.
I wonder how long it'll last... Saved me nearly $50 from the BBTS preorder, so that's nice.
-
Wow. Still up after 30 minutes. Didn't Boba Fett last something like 90 seconds last year?
-
Is it same price as the Con, $70.00 tax included.
-
Is it same price as the Con, $70.00 tax included.
$64.99 - sold out at about 11am ET
-
Missed it by an hour. ::) I thought it might be this morning, so checked before work, but was too early, then too late. Meh.
-
Oh well. I'll just get the regular Jabba unless they decide to make more available.
-
Probably worth it to keep checking today... it's popped back into and out of stock a couple of times, very quickly.
Also, the eBay prices weren't that bad already - he can be had for about $15 or $20 more than HTS was charging if that's not going to break your budget.
-
I received mine in the mail today...immensely more impressive than the regular retail version with that gaping empty space. I haven't taken it fully out of the packaging yet, as it sort of looks perfect as is, but I'm sure I won't be able to resist for long.
For some reason online chatter had me thinking Crumb was non-articulated but that is not the case, his arms and neck swivel around nicely.
Probably overpaid for this in retrospect, but you never know how these things are going to pan out, and it's certainly a fine set all things considered. I'm happy. :)
-
So, it appears the whole "taking it out of the package" deal is not so easy as I assumed. Some genius thought it would be a good idea to glue the $%^* plastic inserts to the diorama. And apparently they used the opposite of whatever kind of glue goes around their actual bubbles on cards, because this stuff is super-bonded. ::)
Since there is no way to remove the plastic without ruining the diorama, I guess it is staying in place. I could cut it back I suppose but I'd just as soon keep this as close to original state as possible.
Pretty poor design flaw IMO, there was no similar issue with Boba and Han last year, though I guess that was less a diorama than just fancy packaging. Still, you could get the damn figures in and out at least without slicing the thing up.
Nice job on the actual characters though, I'm very pleased with how Jabba came out and Crumb is better than I expected.
-
Anyone else having trouble getting your Jabba delivered?
Fedex is requiring an in-person signature, and won't let me sign the door tag and leave it for tomorrow.
The pick-up location is about an hour away from my house on the south side, and rerouting it to my office is going to delay by 24 to 48 hours.
All because freaking HasBLOW seemingly is requiring me to physically be there to sign for it.
-

Glad my wife was home today to get my SDCC Jabba.
Seems completely unnecessary to have to sign for a $60 item.
-
Used to be that it was, but people keep pulling "I wasn't there and it got stolen" scams I think. Fed Ex seems to be doing this more often.
-
I called to have it rerouted to my office and Fedex said the request was on Hasbro's end... For whatever that's worth.
-
Hmmm, that's odd. So your request has to Fed Ex to ship it where you can actually get it during the day, has to go to Hasbro to be sent back to Fed Ex? Ugh.
-
I had to sign for $60 worth of t-shirts I had delivered a few weeks back, but that was a package from Japan and they have wacky shipping/delivery laws there. No clue why Hasbro would want a signature. If it's because of size, why didn't we have to sign for those ridiculous Death Star and Indiana Jones sets from a few years ago.
-
I had to sign for mine, but luckily I figured this out a few days before the package was to be delivered (thanks to something Yakface tweeted over the weekend) and was able to have it held at the local FedEx store. Luckily for me, FedEx started holding things there, as up until, well, now, they would only hold things at the local distribution center (which is about a 90 minute drive away) and I would have to take a half day off work to go pick it up.
The worst part is that a friend/co-worker of mine who also ordered a Jabba had hers rerouted to the same store and, for whatever reason, FedEx screwed up and didn't reroute it correctly, so they are still attempting to deliver it to her home. She got the notice on her front door saying "Customer Not Home; Will Reattempt Tomorrow" despite her having called at least twice by this point (and having confirmation calls and emails to prove it was supposed to be redirected) to ensure the package be held at the FedEx store where I picked mine up.
As for the quality of my package, let's just say "abysmal" would be an understatement. Jabba was miraculously (mostly) okay, with only a minor ding on the lower right back corner of the box and some "shelf wear" on various parts of the packaging, but the shipping box looked like someone had dropped an anvil on the end of it. Completely crushed on one side like an accordion. I'm shocked and amazed that the toy itself wasn't caved in, especially since Hasbro seemed to simply throw the toy inside the oversized box with only some brown paper as packing material. Part of me wonders why Hasbro would ship something they know is a collectible that people are buying based on packaging and presentation in such a slipshod manner, but then I remember it's Hasbro and their company is built on asinine decisions and never learning from their mistakes.
That being said, Jabba is a nice looking toy. Wish the dais was "real" and not simply cardboard, but it's nice to have a Crumb and the hookah/pipe to go with him. Only wish I hadn't missed out on the Carbonite Han last year.
-
Used to be that it was, but people keep pulling "I wasn't there and it got stolen" scams I think. Fed Ex seems to be doing this more often.
Not quite... they'll reroute it here and it should be here today or (more likely) tomorrow.
What they couldn't do, was leave it at my door without a physical signature. I.E., I couldn't sign the slip and leave it for them. They claimed on the phone that this was something the shipper required.
The pickup location is way down on the south side of Chicago and I live way up on the north side, going there would be a major headache.
-

Shipping issues aside - I don't believe Hasbro and HTS are of the same.
-
For anyone still trying to order one, the SDCC version of Jabba is in stock at the moment over at HTS.

-
Wow, almost an hour later and he's still there... either they have a larger allotment this time or it makes a difference not having a horde of collectors F5ing constantly after a week of waiting. :P
-
I went ahead and got one. After a week of looking at the retail one and fence sitting with him, I figured what the hell.
-
And, he's gone again.
-
Despite being told they would deliver to my office today, there was another slip on my door when I got home.
DHL is much better at this than FedEx.
-
At the Con they were bringing boxes of jabba's out to the front and they were all damaged with shelf ware and soft corners. I sent back about three of the five I got because of it. Did I mention I have a few to sell ;)
-
More updates even though this doesn't matter to anyone but me... I called last night and they said they'd look into it and that they'd call me by 10:30 this morning and that I should call if I don't hear from them.
Of course I didn't, so I called and was told that the shipper restrictions meant they could not re-route the package and that it was on the truck to go to my house again today. Which wont' work.
Three phone calls later and I spoke to a woman who said she'd re-route to the FedEx Kinko's by my house, but I doubt it's going to work.
The pick-up location is a two hour round trip from my house.
I should have just kept my BBTS order and paid the extra $30.
-
Rob, after seeing pics on the packing woes and the several round-trips its making, I'd fear to see what the box looks like.
Does FedEx deliver on the weekend?
-
They do, and allegedly Saturday is my final delivery attempt, but the Chicago Air and Water Show is this weekend and I'll be damned if I'm staying home to wait for a toy when the Blue Angels are right down the street.
I don't care if the box is roughed up as long as the contents aren't broken, I open everything anyway.
-
On my not Jabba HTS SDCC order confrimation it specifically mentions that a signature will be required. Glad I'm having my stuff delivered to work or I'd be stuck in that same boat.
-
Until very recently my wife worked out of our house... but that's not going to fly anymore. From here on out I'll have stuff shipped directly to the office for sure.
-
Rob, just give me the extra $30 and I'll ship it to where ever you want, and i'll even kick the box to make it look professional :D
-
Ha.
I got a call from someone at FedEx about two hours ago and they're telling me that they'll reroute to the FedEx-Kinkos near my house tomorrow. So, in theory I'll be able to pick it up right down the street tomorrow, but I'm expecting something else to be screwy with that plan.
-
Thought I'd be a little cool on this one, but I like the set over all. Having a holder for carbonite Han was just surprise and handy bonus. In person, it convinced my buddy who wasn't hot on buying one take my extra.
-

So, you weren't a big fan of this at first, but bought two? Then you had to push your extra on a buddy that didn't really want it? As one of many who didn't get a shot at one of these, that's kind of ******.
-
I finally got mine on Saturday.
The last kick in the balls was that it took me 30 minutes of waiting at the FedEx Kinkos that they sent it to before someone could actually get the package for me from the back.
