The Vintage Collection / Re: 2019 Vintage Collection Wave 3

Found Wave 3/2 at Wally last night and bought them all, which has to be the biggest retail haul in a while.

Two cents I think the Slave Leia being verboten thing is urban legend, but that being said, she is definitely absent from any recent merchandising, a lot of which has seen an increased profile for Leia.

Basic Figures:
2019 VC141 To Be Announced [2019 Wave 02]
2019 VC149 To Be Announced [2019 Wave 03]

Exclusives:
2019 VC136 To Be Announced [?? Exclusive]
2019 VC137 To Be Announced [?? Exclusive]
2019 VC144 To Be Announced [?? Exclusive]
2019 VCxxx To Be Announced [SDCC Exclusive]
2019 VCxxx To Be Announced [SDCC Exclusive]
2019 VCxxx To Be Announced [SDCC Exclusive]

I think Hasbro's basic strategy right now on the OT is to fill gaps left by the original TVC run and also the original 92. I don't think they're going to stray too far out of this since there is huge overlap in some figures with films like Rogue One (Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, DS Gunner, etc.) but I could be wrong. With the Sail Barge and Episode IX next year, I also figure there will be emphasis on ROTJ, though we've seen a fair bit of that already in the announced figures.

I expect some of these could be:

ANH Chewbacca
ANH Jawa
ROTJ Emperor
ANH Luke Stormtrooper
ROTJ Ree Yees
ANH/RO Grand Moff Tarkin

I think Sim Aloo has a pretty strong chance of showing up next year or 2020.

Thanks as ever Jayson.

I remember thinking the Gammy would be a test run for an eventual open stock deluxe line, so I think you're right. Curious to see what else beyond Grievous they have in store. Ephont Mon?

🤔😉

It would be great if Hasbro could find space for some kind of "figure + set piece" sub-line (TFA torture chair + figure; Yavin 4 table + Rebel figure; Sabaac Table + alien dude; Kessel computer terminal + droid; etc).

This. A thousand times this.

Hasbro will likely not give up on large playsets/vehicles/price points in the near term, if only to continue to occupy shelf real estate in a market that is rapidly shrinking. The SW model of small figure with vehicle / playset pattern is virtually the only one left of its kind not of the Imaginext or Lego variety (well there's Jurassic World) and there's apparently enough interest there to sustain it through what is a clear trend toward six inch and other play patterns.

Solo: A Star Wars Story / Re: Solo 3.75" Basic Figures

He's brand new. I also thought he was a reissue, but he's 100% a new sculpt. Worth it if you're a Vader fan or like me, your thousand other Vaders are in a box somewhere.

I got the Vader at Wally today and I have too many Vaders but this is a very impressive piece. Great companion to the Obi-Wan from a few months ago. Vader has a ball jointed head and swivel wrists. He can do some good poses.

I've seen some griping around (imagine that) about this wave. There won't be a trace of these left come Christmas. All of these characters sell down, especially Vader and the troopers. Hoth Leia is a great figure a lot of people are still catching up on.

Star Wars Anthology / Re: Solo (SPOILERS)
« on: August 9, 2018, 04:56 PM »
I remember thinking in the theater for a moment her being Beckett's/Val's daughter was possible, because the reveal was staged in such way that it seemed like she was supposed to be somebody we knew... but the shock I guess was she was a teenager. I don't think she has to be anybody at this point - though I'd love to see her again. Darth Maul! Never heard that one.

I'm ok with the price here. $40 would be great, but with the Red Card discount and the gift cards I tend to collect from other sales I'm ok. I plan on buying a few of these. This is a great set and something I'd love to see more of.

Yes, all of this, yes.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Episode IX

Yep, the scene with Kor is on the DVD. Don't think this is where they source from, but really who knows. It could be a simple scene or exchange, and she's only present for a brief moment.

The question is though, how can footage from Episode 7 serve the story of Episode 9?

Pure speculation, but the most significant scene I can think of involving Leia from TFA that we never saw involves Maz delivering the lightsaber to her. We see a glimpse of this in the Celebration Teaser. I think it's unlikely actual scenes will be grafted into IX though, considering the narrative challenges, but I think this is probably somewhere they're drawing from. I imagine also that they may simply use footage but generate new dialogue, either through recorded sound of her left unused or dubbing.

I expected an off screen death and a funeral and I didn't want that. I didn't want a three movie wake for my OT heroes. I'm glad it's this way, even if it's not perfect. I'm glad because they won't bring her back to kill her off. She's going to survive the movie, and I can't think of anything better that Leia lives, and goes on fighting.

I am cautiously optimistic about the footage from TFA, knowing what some of it is, but mostly I am glad that they found a way to include her. I was not looking forward to an off screen death or RO digital type cameo at the end or something.

Very happy to know she's going to be in the movie.

I'd also love if the Trooper is the officer.
