Most likely from a future Target 2 pack?
No idea who he is. (http://cgi.ebay.com/STAR-WARS-aotc-geonosis-arena-NICANAS-TASSU-jedi-master-/370407504417?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item563e01fa21)

Maybe it's one of the Jedi who tosses a lightsaber to Anakin and Obi-Wan?
-
This is none other than...
Nicanas Tassu (based on an ILM Employee) from the Geonosis Arena...

He's one of the Jedi that toss Ani/Obi sabers once the Jedi attack. People confused him with an n'sync member for a while, as was the other guy tossing a saber.
We've had a rumor swirling that he's part of another round of Target Exclusive Geonosis 2-packs, according to a source we've talked to.
-
I was just going to copy that picture from your Top Ten list, Jesse!

Hasbro hinted around that those two would get figures I think... :)
Likek I said, we've heard in a rumor they're part of Geo 2-packs coming to Target again, but no confirmation on that.
-
I really like the headsculpt, but I don't understand why he would utilize the TAC Mace Windu body AGAIN. It was already twice used in the previous Geonosis sets. And you will also notice his lightsaber is Mace's, except cast in green.

I don't mind that so much, it's a solid sculpt. Hopefully he includes a robe.
-
Yeah, no gripes from me. Solid sculpt, good articulation, the character doesn't look particularly short and nor is Windu... He just needs the robe. A recast saber is fine to me, most of the time.
My only gripe is the leg articulation's restricted by the robe's extension. I've hoped for a Mace with softgoods "skirt" because of that. Still, this figure's great I think. I'm a big fan of getting human Jedi, human Jabba Goons and Cantina Denizens, and so on.
The figure's browns don't look as dark as the film image, but I'll live just to get more human Jedi I think. I'm easy like that I guess.
-
I was shocked at the fact the Geo sets are not on clearance at Target like most everything else so maybe this explains that.
-
The previous Geonosis sets seem to have sold reasonably well. There are still some stragglers, but overall they appear to have been well received by collectors. There have been rumblings about the possibility of a second wave of Geonosis arena 2-packs. Hasbro acknowledged that one of a couple of female Jedi may be a part of this next set. And now it seems clear that the second wave is in fact on the way and Nicannas Tassu is one of the Jedi on tap.
-
I thought the first set was good, so I'm looking forward to what series 2 has in store. Definitely one of Hasbro's better exclusives, there's some actual new characters in there and a couple good resculpts as well.
-
I am looking forward to seeing the selection of figures of course. I like the first one there.
-
According to STAN Sarissa Jeng is the only 100% new figure in the next batch the rest are new heads/upgraded parts. He also mentioned that Target is on the fence with these still. Take his post as you will.
I may order that Foo-Man-Choo just in case.....
-
He also mentioned that Target is on the fence with these still. Take his post as you will.
I can see why. Those things are lingering big time and need to be put on clearance.

Hasbro already used the Q&A to tell us there would only be one new figure (http://www.jedidefender.com/newspro/fullnews.cgi?newsid1272395064,9818,) in the sets, so that's no surprise. If it does turn out to be Sarissa, I'd be bummed. I'd have preferred that they kitbashed Sarissa from Evo Bultar Swan and then gave us someone else new instead...

Seriously. While I really loved these sets I am very surprised that Target did not clearance all of those Mace and Roth sets. For the exception of Jango/Mace I loved every figure. I wish they added soft goods to the Mace Body this time around but alas. I do hope Target does pick these new sets up. I bought a lot of these last time and if the characters are decent like before I will do so again. I also like how they upgraded older figures who only needed a few tweaks. I made this prediction on RS back in April. I am hoping to see:
Arena Damaged Padme and Anakin with new headsculpt
Screaming Jedi Girl and Split apart Geo warrior
Nikto Jedi (Fik El Sirch) with Red Battle Droid with EYES!
Shaak Ti upgraded and generic human Padawn
The two loser Jedi who throw anakin & Obi lightsabers (I of them being confirmed)
I am sure we will see these new sets at SDCC, if not C5. Let's hope Target takes them.

I can see a 1/2" coating of dust on these already...

Hasbro stated in this SW Collector Q&A (http://www.swcollector.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=1489) that they were looking to produce either Sarissa Jeng or Sar Labooda. Now I can't see them producing two female Jedi in this wave. Female figures have traditionally been a bit of a tough sell.
Sarissa Jeng looks like her Jedi garb is more like that of Ki-Adi-Mundi. That seems a little odd, IMHO. And she's only ever shown in closeup.
Sar Labooda gets a little more exposure on camera. And she seems much more like she can be made from a Bultar Swan kitbash.
-
They also look like they can use the Stass Allie body to make Sar Labooda. I was a bit surprised that collectors did not dig these sets. They were far superior than the Droid Factory sets and actually had useful characters. At the end of the day they are the C-listers so I should not be that surprised.
-
I liked the sets myself. I wish they were $10 though like the previous 2 packs though. Those were a pretty decent deal all in all - a main figure and a clonetrooper for $10 = good sales. Random background type Jedi figures with a few different battledroids at $12 = not quite as appealing. But I still ended up with them all.
-
I was pretty happy with all the sets last year, and I bought all but the Yoda set at full price... I bought a couple extra of the humans with the new BD's too, mostly on sale but not much less than full price really. Our Targets didn't ever seem to clearance those sets heavily, and there's some lingering around. Some Targets only have a couple, others have about a dozen or so. It really seems to vary and it was like they got more after the initial allotment.
The previous year's 2-packs clearanced fast and quick at Target. Last year's didn't seem to follow that trend. I cleaned up on that first series though.
It'd be neat to see maybe some AOTC style clones with maybe some spiffy weathering make it into this series. I wouldn't mind more Geonosians and stuff too. Like was noted, we've heard these are going to happen, but the usual "Nothing's confirmed till Hasbro says so, blah blah blah" stuff applies. I'm hopeful though. We've had a headsculpt image of the current revealed character for a while now. Can't wait to see the rest of the potential set.
-
I really liked the Geonosis sets from last year - they were a great mix of some new figures and re-use of existing molds to make them well worth picking up.
I'm glad the new SA Battledroid is getting re-released as part of this year's Legends line, it's actually the one Legends release that I'm really looking forward to this year.
I actually hope that they keep with the same pattern/theme of the first round of sets with this second round - five to six sets each with a different Jedi.
I would not be surprised if the SA Anakin and SA Obi-Wan figures from AOTC get re-released in this wave. I think Hasbro also indicated that a new Aayla Secura would be coming as part of an exclusive, so she's probably in this batch as well.
With this figure showing up, I also wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro shows these off for the first time at SDCC next week.
-

I have not seen these clearance at all, either, which is very surprising because on my occasional returns to Target there is a sole set left hanging around - the dark-skinned Jedi (what's his name?) w/ SB Droid. This one seems to have been the slowest seller.
-
Yeah, we've had at least 3-4 sets sitting at our Targets consistently for the past year or so as well. I guess I haven't looked closely lately to see which ones are there, and I think I had the sets I wanted via Amazon long before they showed up anyways. I do think the rest of the SW section is on clearance now, aside from these, so it may be true that they will be coming back. I was wondering what Target's exclusives would be for this year, since it seems like both WM and TRU got home runs this year with a new Slave 1 and a new Jabba. You would think Target would get something "big" as well though, unless I'm forgetting about something.

- (Anakin?) & Droideka

-
I might have to cave on these due to the increased articulation on the droids. The 3PO looks like it uses the SA protocol droid mold too.
-
Oooh, neat. I likes me some Rodian jedi.
-
Yeah, I'm geeked. The Rodian's an articulated version of the original Clone Wars line's 3-pack ROdian Jedi. I love that! Shaak Ti's incredible looking, Obi Wan even looks like a happy purchase to me.
Fantastic stuff. Loved the last round, and look forward to the new sets.
-
Looks like the exact same packaging (minus the 2010 verbaige) so I guess that's why Target didn't clearance out the first wave of these. Was wondering about that.
-

Hopefully the new sets will be available in sufficient numbers. So far I am stoked. I don't mind getting the same great Seppie army builders, but I can see how that might be boring for many. The extra accessories for the Geonosian and the Shaak Ti look like highlights of this new wave.
-
The package makes some sense too, since it was re-useable as a display. I hung onto mine with the thought I MIGHT assemble an arena thing with it, but that's becoming less and less likely, haha.

^ Looks even better than the sets that Target had this past year.

-
Meh...I'll get them all probably but...meh. 3PO is cool I guess, I've never been big on Arena Jedi for some reason. I'd have liked to have seen Barris instead of Shaak Ti but again...meh
-
I'm kind of on the same page as Scott with these...meh. They look neat, and I'm glad to finally get a better AOTC C-3PO, but I'll probably pick and choose with these like I did with the last round. If I had the budget for everything, I'd probably get them all (they look like they all use pretty nice figures), but more than likely I'll just pick and choose again.
-
My jaw dropped at the sight of the Shaak Ti set - amazing set. Shaak Ti's been a very wanted upgrade. And the Geonosian is worth buying again, thanks to the accessories.
The Obi-Wan and Anakin sets are definite passes for me. How many times have we seen both Jedi repacked? And it seems AOTC Anakin is getting repacked again in TVC basic figure lineup.
Not too thrilled that the Rodian Jedi once again uses the Luke body, but whatever. Looks cool.
As for the Dooku set, I'm pleased because when I first saw pictures of the Jedi included, I wasn't too happy with the Mace body repaint. But now he includes a cloak! Initial pictures also showed him with Mace's lightsaber hilt (cast in green), but latest pics show him with a different hilt.
-

The Anakin has a new head so it's not a straight repack per say. The only one that I am passing on is the Obi-Wan set, that one is a wasted slot. Dooku appear to have a new head too. My only real gripe is the reuse of the Mace Windu and Evo Luke bodies but I am happy these are getting another run.
-
Is that a new Dooku headsculpt? I might just pick up the Shaak Ti set (for some reason I don't own a figure of her) and wait for the inevitable 3PO repack, mainly to avoid buying another R2. :P
-
Big whatever on these. Shaak Ti is great, and I'm suddenly glad I held off on the ROTS version all these years. The rest is disappointing.
-
The red/white LC packaging confuzzles me. With TVC and TCW out, it'll be strange to see the ghost of LC as well. But it is nice to see "2010 Edition" on the side.
As for Dooku, he does seem to have an all-new headsculpt.
And I agree that the Obi-Wan set is a wasted slot, we just got SBD w/ Mace Windu in the previous wave.
And I'm also tired of the Mace and Luke body repaints. Oh well.
AND, isn't it worth noting that Obi and Ani shouldn't have their actual lightsabers, as two random Jedi tossed them an extra saber?
-
Yakface has a great shot of Dooku, the new head sculpt looks great! I like the Evo one but it looks nothing like Lee. The Anakin head look nice but there is still no good up close shot yet. These sets are growing on me sans the Obi-Wan one. I love that they are perfecting great sculpts like Dooku, that's what I appreciated with the last set of these with upgrades to figures like Kit.
-
I will pick and choose but the Shaak Ti set it really nice. I think they could have gave us something else besides the R2 and 3PO pack. I'm just sick of seeing C-3PO and the battle droid head swap thing yet again. Although that is their "big" scene in the arena so it makes sense in that regard. I was kind of hoping for Bariss Offee or even that white female Jedi (can't remember her name though so I must not want it that bad). The Rodian is a surprise but I can't say that really anyone was actually wanting it? They are decent sets but I'll probably track down other stuff with more enthusiasm.
-
Most excited for the Shaak Ti set. I don't have a ROTS one anymore as it was victim to my dog back in the day when he was a puppy (along with vintage IG-88 and Vintage Jabba's right arm and maybe some others).
I think the Rodian is pretty cool.
I also like the Dooku/Jedi set.
I am on the fence with the others - except Obi - no go on him.
-
Color me surprised they did NOT do the other Jedi that tosses sabers to Ani/Obi. Maybe if they do another round I guess. It feels empty without him now.
-
I will get Shaak Ti, Rodian jedi, & 3po other than that pass on the rest. I will get the jedi knight that comes w/ dooku on ebay.
-
For those on the fence Galactic Hunter has a great shots of the new Anakin head sculpt, it looks great as does Dookus. I cannot believe they are not going to use this for the VC single card line, it's so much better.

-
I'm only going to get three of these sets.
Dooku/Jedi
Shaak Ti/Geonosian
Rodian Jedi/Battle Droid
I"ll hope for a sale on the last two I listed so I can army build the Geo's and BD's, some more.
-

I think you just answered my question... I was trying to figure out what here is at least kit-bashed or contains significant paint or sculpt changes. So it looks like Obi-wan / SBD is the only one I don't need to bother with.
-
I got the impression that each set has SOMETHING new to it Rob, just FYI. Jeff may have a more solid answer to that as I'm just now getting online here.

The paintjob on this Super Battle Droid is significantly different from the previous 30AC and Saga Legends versions. It also doesn't have the holes in the body. Not sure about any differences with Obi-Wan though. But I would like to see him with the different lightsaber hilt (the one he's thrown).
And on this point I'm disappointed with the Anakin. Why no green lightsaber? That's true to the Arena battle.
-
The sabers were adisappointment. I'm migrating ones from 2002 Ani since I like the metal hilts anyway.
-
The paintjob on this Super Battle Droid is significantly different from the previous 30AC and Saga Legends versions. It also doesn't have the holes in the body.
I was (wishful) thinking that it was the same paint deco as something from the Battlefront multi-packs or comic packs.
-
Another interesting note on the Anakin set? The package art has Anakin wielding a green saber, but the packed in figure has a blue lightsaber. Stellar attention to detail, Hasbro! ::)
-
And on this point I'm disappointed with the Anakin. Why no green lightsaber? That's true to the Arena battle.
That's something I noticed. In fact, in the slide presentation pics, Obi-Wan is the one with a green lightsaber! It's his own unique lightsaber hilt, but with a green blade. Odd. And Anakin just comes with his own lightsaber. Odder. :-\
And, by looking/guessing at images of the package [in the slideshow], it seems the Rodian Jedi is simply going to be named "'Rodian Jedi.'" I would have thought that Hasbro would have made up a name for him.
-
It's seems out of character for Hasbro to NOT have a name for the Rodian Jedi. I would have thought they would retcon the rodian Jedi who was in the early episodes of Clone Wars season 2 into the arena battle, but apparently not. And I just saw the slideshow pic of Obi-Wan.
And then there's the packaging look. Are they seriously going to keep the Arena 2-packs in the TLC RED packaging? Or are these just package mockups?
It's enough to drive you to drink.
-
Hasbro has never gotten the lightsabers right for Anakin and Obi Wan from that scene. It's like it's world hunger or something; too complicated. Those sabers have been available with other Jedi, so I've always just swapped them out.
-
Really disappointed that they tweaked any and all re-packs, but then again, I only need one of each.
-

It almost looks to have ankle articulation. Could be my eyes playing tricks on me.

According to JTA, the Geonosis Arena packs are still in the red packaging at the request of Target! Now that's a wow. Apparently Target wanted a uniform look to their exclusive, so that the packaging could also form a full circle.

There's more to it than just that. These were originally scheduled to be released in May of this year. That would have put their release before the change in the line look which started to transition in July. But Target changed things up and wanted to hold the Arena 2-packs for a sale/promo event later this year. It seems that the sets had already been produced and packaged, so they've been held for that promotion.
-
Makes sense Nick. Geo sets w1 were the only things that didn't get the clearance boot.
-
Another new figure image surfaced...
This time it's the C-3PO/Battledroid figure from the Geonosis Arena 2-packs due out possibly next month.

I'm so happy to have a new Arena 3PO, actually. Looks great!
-
Wow. That IS impressive! When I first saw pictures of this set, I had second thoughts on if I would buy it, but that amazing (shiny?) paint job and SA definitely warrants some more money-spending!
-
The new AOTC 3-PO is one of my most anticipated figures for this year, even with all the great stuff coming out in the regular waves. We never really did get a nice figure of this version of C-3PO and it was a much needed resculpt in my opinion. With this, and the upcoming Zam Wessell, it covers probably my top two wants from AOTC.
-
Does anyone know, which sculpt the R2 that comes with this set uses?
-
Does anyone know, which sculpt the R2 that comes with this set uses?
IIRCC, someone said that Hasbro said it will be a Build A Droid version.
-
That could be pretty interesting, although these geonosis sets usually retail at £26.00 over here, so I've yet to purchase one.
-
Found these all this morning at Target. Easy pass...too many humans, and I just got Shaak Ti a few months ago in the last TLC wave.
Good to see new stuff hitting though!
-
I picked up 1 thru 5 this morning. 6 was MIA. Really not crazy about the Anakin and Obi-wan sets.
-
Were they bad sets?
-
I picked up 1 thru 5 this morning. 6 was MIA. Really not crazy about the Anakin and Obi-wan sets.
FINALLY these are hitting! And I like this round more than the first one. What's the Rodian Jedi named as, BTW? Is it just "Rodian Jedi"?
-
If I recall, I believe Hasbro said he'd remain as "Rodian Jedi" with no name.
-
Were they bad sets?
To me. Just feels like there's nothing new although both Anakin and Obi-wan are new kit bashes.
-
OK, I picked up all six sets last night at Target but once I got them home, I really wasn't sure why I bought the Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Shaak Ti sets.
Questions for anyone that has opened these up...
* Anakin - is there anything else 'new' on him besides the head/deco? I read someone say he now has ball-joint hips, but I'm not sure that is right. Does he have new hips or not?
* Obi-Wan - is there anything else 'new' on him besides the head? I don't really like the new head sculpt and I have enough SBDs, so I'm pretty sure I'm taking this one back...
* Shaak Ti - I know she has new arms... but the RotS one is good enough for me. Something about her deco (the eyes maybe) just makes me prefer the RotS one. Can anyone confirm if her legs are the same as the RotS or did she get a leg upgrade to go with her elbow upgrade?
-
I am like 99% certain that you are correct on Shaak Ti. Nothing new in the legs
-
It's true, Shaak Ti has no upgraded leg articulation - neither does Anakin, and it would have been nice if Hasbro had given him a "pre-release" version of the SA legs they're using on the upcoming Peasant Disguise figure (those have articulated ankles).
-
I'm kind of with you Jeff. However, this is where Hasbro's got me dead to rights with there being at least one new part on each figure.
-
I see that the Rodian Jedi never got a name. :-\
-
However, this is where Hasbro's got me dead to rights with there being at least one new part on each figure.
Sorta with the 2nd round of the Order 66 sets - every figure was either new or had some sort of "new-ish" part to it.
-
Questions for anyone that has opened these up...
* Anakin - is there anything else 'new' on him besides the head/deco? I read someone say he now has ball-joint hips, but I'm not sure that is right. Does he have new hips or not?
Nope, still the same hips that were on the 2005 Evolutions version. The only new things on this one are the head (which, admittedly, is pretty good) and the green blade (which, strangely enough, is attached to the regular Anakin AOTC hilt). So, unless you're that fond of the new head or need another Droideka (the main reason I got it for myself), you can return this one without worry. :)
Nope, the legs on this one are the same as the ROTS version. I like the dress on the ROTS one much better, too, due to the previously mentioned "frayed" material on this version. Other than some paint differences and the elbow articulation being changed, it uses the ROTS body from top to bottom. The Geonosian in the set, however, is a lighter green repaint of the 2009 version, so it takes the sting out of the lack of new ankle articulation on Shaak Ti.
Other tidbits:
-The Battle Droid in the set with the Rodian Jedi is (at least on my version) the Commander figure (no backpack, just the antenna) without the yellow markings.
-Dooku has a new head and the cape is "tacked" at two points on the side, which makes it easier to display him without the billowing problem the previous versions had.
-R2-D2 uses a modified version of the VOTC body and similar features to the animated CW R2. The left panel on the front opens up and a welder arm (which I don't recall seeing on an R2 prior to this) raises up, and there is a back panel that opens up and a hook on a string can be pulled out to attach to Threepio's head. The inside of this opening hatch is actually detailed fairly nicely, and the string can be wound up by rotating Artoo's head, just like the CW version. The lightpipe eye is back, although there is no sensorscope on this version which, again, is the first time I remember this sculpt being used without that feature. Cool that Hasbro went the extra mile here, instead of just repacking the VOTC version for the millionth time.
EDIT: Forgot to add that my Target had these as "on sale" for 9.99 through mid-November when I picked the Anakin/Droideka set up earlier today. So that definitely takes the sting out. :)
-
Wow, it seems like the shining star of the entire 2nd series is the R2/3PO set.

Kinda figured something like that was going to happen. $18+ going back to me.....
-
At my Target, the only Geonosis 2-packs that are on sale are the old ones - the 2009 2-packs and the 2010 2-packs have different DPCI #s....
Did you get the sale price straight-up or did you have to argue that there was a sale tag for them?
-
I noticed that too. I saw the shelf tag for the sale, and the DPCI number for the 2009 sets is on that tag. Not the DPCI number for the new sets.
-

Didn't have to argue a bit, which is odd, considering I usually do have to struggle with mispriced stuff at Target. The only 2009 set that my Target still has is (6 of) the Roth Del Masona/SBD set, and it was in the regular SW section with no sale tag, while the 2 2010 sets they had (1 each of Anakin/Droideka and Obi-Wan/SBD) were on the endcap with a sale tag.
So yeah, straight up 9.99 without having to complain, FYI.

Same here. I picked up the two sets I wanted and they had the $9.99 sales price in the two locations they had them (both the 09 and 10 versions). They rang up at the sales price without any arguing, so $6 saved!
-
just an FYI, I went to Target today and they gave me the price adjustment on the 4 sets I bought a week ago. Very happy with the 4 pack I got now at a price of $10.

That's good to know - I'm planning on taking my receipt from last week and getting the price adjusted on all 12 sets I picked up. I'm seriously thinking about using that credit towards a second Assault on Hoth UBP to open.
-
$18.32 price adjustment for me today. Guess they factored in the 5% off I got with my card, but still 8)
-
I got an adjustment as well, no problem at all.

If anyone is interested I posted on my Blog some examples to improve the details of Anakan and Shaak Ti from these sets. Not paint or tools are required just older parts. He are two outtakes:
I did not want t post the whole thing as it somewhat falls into the custom area.
On another note, I was able to pick more of the new sets up at the $9.99 price, they rang up that way.
-
I gave these a close once over yesterday because I was really on the fence at one point about the Geonosian/Shaak Ti set, but man, she is one butt-ugly sculpt IMO. Just seems very crude and poorly assembled. I much prefer the TLC version earlier this year, and even the upcoming TCW version is breathtaking by comparison.
I think maybe that Rodian Jedi is the coolest of the lot...
-
I got the Rodian pack. He's decent. One knee was looser than I'd like, but that's just luck of the draw probably. His fingers are way too short compared to Greedo and Pax.
The Battle Droid included is an officer without the markings (does that mean he's a red security droid?). And his eyes are inbetween the "earlier, too big releases" and the "current smaller corrected versions". That's odd. Neck was looser than I'd like, but stays up if you pull it all the way up.
I got the older Kit Fisto/Geonosian set instead of the Shaak Ti one. Is it me or is Kit too short and the Geonosian too tall?
-
Thanks for posting that info from your blog JACK. The only reason I bought the Anakin was to try what you did, so I'll see how it goes.
-
I've only picked up a couple of these so far, but I have to say - although maybe he isn't talked about much - that the C-3PO figure is really pretty nice. This is one of the PT figures I thought really needed an update (or really, just a good initial figure since the previous ones were more gimmicky), and I think it looks pretty nice. I'll probably pick up another pack just to have an extra, and I hope we see it in a re-release at some point. I got the Shaak Ti set as well, but sort of wish I hadn't. I like the Geonosian in it well enough to keep it, but the Shaak Ti really doesn't seem to be anything spectacular - but not a horrible figure either.
-
Every Target I go to has plenty in stock at $9.99. even the first series. I do not get why this entire series was a dog at retail. Overall they were pretty nice.
Brian I agree on the C-3P0. The paint job on him is really nice. The only downside is his height which is not that big a deal to me.
-
I bought 4 sets and am happy with my new Jedi. Many have mentioned their hesitance to buy the Shaak Ti, but I think it's an excellent upgrade -- I can't stand those angle cut elbows from the ROTS figure that I had.
-
I agree Jesse... I thought Shaak Ti was fantastic. I thought her deco was fine, and replacing those lame assed elbows on the ROTS figure is a nice upgrade. I actually like the tattered look of the dress too since it's feasible to assume she'd actually have that happen since she has basically the same outfit on at all times. It looks more realistic that way.
-
Saw these at Target mixed in with the first series - only the dark-skinned Jedi was left. I saw the 3PO/R2 and Shaak Ti sets, and I think that's about it. I would have bought the Shaak Ti set, because it's my most wanted.
-
Oh just by them all - it's fun to have a full circle of Geo sets...I guess :)
-
Took advantage of the sale on these and chose the Dooku set. I had wanted the Shaak Ti set, but I figured that as a female character, and the "anchor" figure of the set (the more appealing one), she isn't that appealing (no sexism intended; Hasbro has said before that female characters don't sell as well).
The Dooku set is really nice. I thought for sure that I would hate the repainted Jedi. But it's a really nice figure! It's very different-looking than the '07 TAC Mace Windu.
-
Visited Target yesterday, Black Friday, and I'm surprised that these are easy to find (the 1st wave was a smidgen harder to find). Maybe they're restocked evenly, or some of the sets just build up.
But anyways, every one of the sets, minus the 3PO/R2 set, was there, along with one or two of the 1st wave. I saw a little kid rummage through and choose the Dooku set, which, in my area, happens to be the harder-to-find set. Maybe it's because it's the only set to have 2 lightsaber-wielders.
-
I think another reason these new ones are sitting is that at first glance the general public wouldn't really notice there is anything new on the shelves. I bet if they would have changed the packaging they (the new ones) might've moved faster.
-
Overall it seems that all of the Target exclusives seem to have moved slow. As of last week I can still find everyone with no problems. I am surprised how bad these sets flopped even at $10. Overall, I really liked the series as it gave us a lot of losers we would have never had plus it gave us a new Battle Droid sculpt and great repaints of Geo's.
I do think they could have overhauled Shaak Ti better instead of tooling up a new R2. That was a waste of tooling along with the hard to see it's new Obi-Wan head.
-

I think you are right, when Hasbro is all about new packaging for new product, and didn't do so here, I think it hurt these somewhat... I also think these sets were a bit boring with the character selections too though. I think some other theme would have been better for 2-pks... perhaps Jedi vs. Sith duels or something of that nature.
Darth Sidious vs. Yoda
Darth Vader vs. Luke Skywalker
Darth Maul vs. Obi Wan Kenobi
Count Dooku vs. Anakin Skywalker
Anakin Skywalker vs. Asajj Ventress
General Grievous vs. Obi Wan Kenobi
I think parents at least would gobble those up for kids, especially when priced at the $10 each sale.
-
Around my area, they're picked over, but not moving great. The human Jedi, Rodian, Shaak Ti, and of course 3PO/R2 are either gone or scarce... Ani, Obi, and the like, are hanging about. I like the Anakin so I'm hoping for a clearance to nab a couple of him.
Is Obi-Wan different? If so, what am I missing there? He seems like a repack to me and I thought the eyes were kind of poor paint aps.
-
Obi Wan has a new headsculpt, ruined by the horrible paint job. But the paint job on the outfit is much improved from the first release. Worth picking up.
It's the same story here. The Target exclusives are well picked over, but the stragglers (TIE Fighter, Defense of Hoth, Cad Bane two pack, battle packs) straggle.

My Target removed all of the SW exclusives from the endcap and replaced everything with a bunch of board games. Hope to see them return on clearance status in the coming weeks....

Oh, no!! :o Really? Gosh darn it, I hope not, I haven't picked up the other few sets that I wanted. I think the 1st wave was lame in comparison to this wave, but I honestly wonder why these sets aren't moving. I doubt Hasbro will make a wave 3.
I hope that, instead, Hasbro does 2-packs based off of EU comic books. Like a CP, without a comic. Like someone above said, Asajj vs. Anakin, maybe a Durge vs. Obi-Wan...
-
I was gonna pick-up Shaak-Ti vs. Geonosian, but the dislike her eyes and one side of her chin was always mangled from the molding process or whatever.
I wanted the Obi-Wan/Super Battle Droid pack for the droid, since I'd be willing bet money the AOTC wave Super Battle Droid is the same one they've been reshipping in Legends for 3 years.
But they aren't $10 anymore, IIRC. I haven't been to Target in weeks.
In a perfect world, the next exclusives like this would be Battle of Sarlacc Pit (Carkoon?) 2-packs. Instead, repacked figures in vintage 3-pack packaging.
-
My stores had them for $9.99 with shelf tags, scockery. Might want to stop if you can.
Was at Target tonight that I don't frequent often and they had been really picked over on those sets. I'm surprised. More than any other store. No Rodians, no Shaak Ti, no R2/3PO (obviously), no Anakin, and none of the human... Only Obi-Wan and Wave 1 sets.
-
I got the Shaak Ti set (my most-wanted of the wave) and I'm definitely having mixed reactions. I don't understand why people don't like the Shaak Ti sculpt very much, it's alright, although it's very hard to pose her arms, but I hate the colors used on her. Her shirt is much too dark, and her eyes shouldn't be all-black. The silver lips don't really help her face very much, and the paint job on her horns are very sloppy on my sample.
-
I liked her, but I'm to the point I'd really like seeing her feet redone so they're poseable. My Ti's falling over easily.
-

Yeah, same here. The ROTS version had the help of a pack-in stand, but this version doesn't have one.
-
Can anyone tell me what version the R2 is? I'm assuming he's a repaint of some previous release, but having trouble tracking down what that is.
-
the R2's actually fairly new Jesse... at least I'm pretty sure it's a retooled older figure. I know it's based on something older, as it features an opening back door panel for the cord to attach to 3PO's head, but it also has an opening front left (tall) panel door with a tool arm that pops out.
The date stamp on his foot is 2004... I 'm kind of tied up or I'd look more into what figure he's based on, but I'm 99% sure this figure was fairly new himself.
I know I was most pleased with this set... It was the true winner of that wave, and sold out first here. I'm guessing some of it is VOTC R2. The head turns and winds the rope back into the body. It's pretty neat, nice deco... It has a clear lightpipe however, which is odd. Its dusty red spray on the feet makes it uniquely Geonosian though.
-
These sets are going for $30 over here in the Uk, so I only picked up the set with the Droids. The other packs just seemed to have really rough looking paint apps.
This was over a month ago, there's a real dearth over here at the moment. I've bought four figures total and we're a quarter of the way through the year... it feels damn strange.
The last wave we had in store was ROTJ but I only saw it once and then it vanished.
-

Thanks for the info JJ! It's pretty cool that the head winds the rope in, I'm definitely going to track this one down.

Weird that these exclusives are turning up at etail...
-
Not a dismal price if you passed on them or just wanted a 2nd set or something. Some were tough to nab if you dicked around on them. Like the R2/3PO one in particular.
-
Weirder is that Targets are still sitting on gobs of wave 1 at $16.95 or so now.
-
Mine all have the sets, but they're limited in selection... I think only the two human Jedi actually. Which kills me because, well, I'd like more human Jedi to sneak into the line in one way or another. I liked getting these random guys. They really make the background of alien Jedi and Mace Windu fill out a bit to me since humans are apparantly the dominant species in every aspect of life, haha.

That seems to be the same case for the Targets in my area. I think whats happening here is that Target( the company as a whole) is simply identifying the product by their UPC's or some sort of item number. different waves would normally share these identifying codes. their regional distribution centers are probably stocked up on wave 1 and are likely shipping out the product to various stores without really discriminating between the waves. it may take a few more months until target finishes distributing out the bulk of the first wave until we see more of the new stuff frequenting our stores. From my experience with retail that is my best guess.
